This places has the worst food I've ever had. DO NOT EAT HERE! Had breakfast meal , bacon scrambled eggs and french toast. Bacon was fried in what obviously something that had fish fried in it. French toast had no flavor at all. The eggs were not scrambled but fried with something that bonded at all together. Did not taste like eggs at all. Also everything was cold. 1st time visitor. Ordered the seafood combo: salmon, flounder, shrimp, scallops, crab cake with 2 sides and soup, homemade applesauce was delicious, split pea soup was very good. Seafood was BETTER than a seafood restaurant. Would absolutely recommend this diner. Waitress was friendly, on top of my drink refills, interested in how my food tasted. Was visited by the owner. The food does not impress, but service is good. My wife and I had dinner here at 5:30pm on a Monday night in November 2019. We are senior citizens and tourists. We did not enjoy the dinner. We walked into a room to see a small number of customers, all seniors like us. My wife ordered broiled flounder which tasted bland, although the portion was large. She liked the baked potato very much. I ordered one of the most expensive items, crabmeat with pasta and broccoli. The crab was not good and I did not like the texture of the crab meat or the way it was presented on the plate. It was not what I expected, based on the menu description. But the pasta was good. Got the meat lover's omlette for breakfast which also comes with toast and homefries. Food overall is very average. If you just want bland food then this is the way to go. None of the food really had any seasoning at all (i don't even think salt/pepper at the minimum). It wasn't bad, but I did expect better breakfast food considering this is a diner. read more

Not impressed with staff. One hostess neglected her duties at the register because she was talking with a couple with a baby. She was making annoying baby noises and actually took the baby out of the carrier to hold the baby. Coffee was not good and served too full it was tricky trying to pick it up to drink it. Update: After having eaten here a few more times, there are some things to be noted. The chicken Caesar wrap under the cold sandwiches section was actually served with warm chicken. Flavor was OK, just not what I expected... which would have been a cold sandwich. Go figure. It was also the size of a Chipotle burrito, which is a good thing if you're hungry. The chicken in the chicken parm is tough and rubbery. I suspect frozen, then reheated. Which is OK if they could pull it off, but it just doesn't work. My son remains a fan of the grilled cheese with bacon. And the hot turkey sandwich is solid. However, it is now clear that one's enjoyment really depends on what is ordered. My family ate here and later that night my son was throwing up. He had scrambled eggs and sausage. My husband and daughter also had eggs and sausage. I had the banana walnut pancakes. Bland normal diner food. Everything kind of tastes the same. The service is very slow and it seems like all the wait staff have never worked in the restaurant business before. I've been there 3x now and every time I've gotten a waitress that's new and forgetful. Also, when the male manager/owner is not there, the staff seems to be lacking. This place is terrible. I received a mailer at my house advertising this diner. They also sent coupons to lure people in. I decided to try it outside my typical place I frequent. upon arriving, the place is empty. That's always bad, the staff doesn't even know the menu or could answer questions about the food. The food is tasteless, the prices are high. A turke sandwich was $12 and was dry. Then they rejected the coupon I was sent to my home. This place is a dump and the manager on duty was so rude and didn't give a f that they were deceptive. Will never return. Hope they go out of business soon! read more

French onion soup was topped with perfectly melted cheese. Veal Saltibocca was flavorful and filling; and included dessert. my roommate dog and i were driving from DC to philly one sad rainy friday nite and happened upon smileys when we got hungry. this name is appropriate because all the waitresses, who told us they had shifts from 6PM to 4AM, were SO friendly. they were super chill about our dog coming in and even when we ordered him an entree. they were really accommodating to a vegan diet, as well. the food was great -- we got meatball sub (not for the vegan), fries, pasta, garlic bread, and scrambled eggs and cheese for the dog. all was really good as far as diner food goes. esp recommend their desserts, i got apple pie and bread pudding. the menu is GIANT. this is def our go to place on that drive now. read more

Great addition to the community. Beautiful ambiance for a new diner. The French Toast had a great crunchy crust and a perfect sweet vanilla cinnamon flavor. We heard lots of good things about this diner so we decided to give it a try. The night we went, they had an Italian meatloaf special. It advertised mozzarella cheese, green peppers and onions. Sounded great so we both (husband and I) ordered it. When it came, there were 3 or 4 big pieces, they give you a lot, but the meatloaf was NOT as advertised. There's was absolutely no mozzarella in it, no peppers or onions and the taste was very bland. We asked the server if we got the right order because it looked more like plain meatloaf, not the special. She insisted it was and told us that everything is just cut up very fine. I'm sorry, but we pretty much dissected it and there was NO cheese or green peppers. It was very dry and off putting. The waitress also told us that the owners were foreign and didn't believe in seasonings... I thought that was just odd and a bit unprofessional to say. Anyway.. I don't know if we will be going back again... If so, it would most likely just be for breakfast. Our kids did get omelets and they were pretty tastey..thick and full of fresh ingredients. read more

Came here last week and had the breakfast special which includes, eggs, bacon, toast and I ordered the extra sausage. I waited 15 minutes for my breakfast which I wouldn't mind so much if the order had came out correctly. I asked for sunny side up and was given soft scrambled eggs but I was so hungry at the time that I decided to stick with the scrambled eggs. The additional sausage that I ordered was still being prepared as I was more than half way through my meal so, I had to politely ask her to cancel the sausage. I think for me, what got to me the most out of this whole experience is as I was finishing up my breakfast I noticed a hair in my eggs (so gross) and that's when the meal ended. I notified the female manager about this but she just looked at the plate then yelled something in Chinese to the chef in the back and that was that. 1st time visitors last night with 2 adults and a toddler. We were seated promptly. The staff was friendly. Everything was clean. Our dinners were good (chicken parm beef sandwich and chicken fingers). I am not usually a huge diner fan but i was happy with Smiley's. Food was reasonably priced as well. I just started going to this restaurant, my previous experiences were positive, I went today just to get a take-out salad. I specified that I didn't want any onions and watched the waitress write on the order and they put them on any way. I had my first and last experience with this place tonight. Do not use their delivery service unless you have 2 hrs. to wait and you like cold food. I talked to their Manager and he was no help at all. I had to call twice during my waiting and was told both times that my food would be right there and the waiting continued. When I did get my food it was ice cold. Everything had to be warmed up. Kinda defeats the purpose of ordering out. Talking to the Manager after the delivery had no results. He just stated that it wasn't the drivers fault but would not say who should except responsibility for this fiasco. He offered no solution and kind of had a what do you want me to do about it attitude. My guess is he wanted me to take responsibility for an order that took 2 hrs to get to me and that the food was cold. I live a mile down the road from them, why was my food cold? They do not know how to run delivery and should get out of the business of it because they're no good at it. Had the chicken parmesan it was good, my son wasn't too hungry so he just had an appetizer of fried calamari. He said it was kind of chewy, I tried it I agreed, I think it was a little bit overcooked. The waitress seemed nice, but the hostess/ cashier wasn't to pleasent. I love it here, I've been with my grandma and cousins on different occasions. There was one time where there was dirty in my side salad. But I never really had a problem since. But since covid spread I haven't been able to come back. Hopefully when this is all over you'll be seeing me more. The waitstaff are nice and friendly.
