Deer Park Tavern is an amazing historic tavern in the heart of Newark. This is where my parents and I ate while visiting Delaware to meet my graduate school which is now the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration, and I've eaten here numerous times during my program between 2013 and 2015 including my 24th birthday in 2014. It was fun coming back a decade later with my wife and best friend. Our friend had a burger and me and my wife shared a Philly Burger and Chicken Cheesesteak which was amazing as well as various beers from their large selection. There is plenty of seating in this rustic tavern and the service is always a great

The food was mid but our server Gabby was the goat. She was so nice and attentive I loved her. Shout out Gabby.

    Pretty table!

It's a beautiful Saturday & a perfect place to stop and have brunch! French Toast with Cantaloupe and Sausages!! So delicious and a very good portion. My server was excellent & she was so friendly. Thank you everyone.

The burger was solid. Fries were good. Like the $5 off on Thursday burger special. The historic brick walls were charming. The loud country music didn't fit the vibe. My server was less than attentive. I'm glad I stopped in for lunch, but.... not sure I'd be back if I was a local.

Starting with a Blue Moon who know where I'll go from there.

Starting with a Blue Moon who know where I'll go from there. Coming here for a quick dinner with a great coworker and soon to be Yelp Elite. Checking out the restaurant for the first time during the off semester season while the rest of the Blue Hen UD population is away. This place is always busy during the semester but today it's calm for a drink and bite to eat. No happy hour on Fridays but we still grab some drinks and a French Onion sandwich made with burger meat than roast beef. I'm ok with that. The bread was crispy yet soft along with the dipping sauce gave it some more flavor and didn't make it all soggy. I'll have to continue to check this place out through the year with friends and coworkers.

Service was OK. My one pet peeve is allowing servers to leave dirty dishes and empty glasses on the table. And our server, although attentive, did not clear any dishes or glasses. Thank god I don't have epilepsy, the light over our table kept blinking non-stop. Plenty of off street parking for patrons. Lots of varied seating, both indoor and outdoor. See warning sign in my pics (haha). As far as prices, they are in line with any other places, as far as these other reviews that said it is excessively expensive, not true. Lunches are $15-20. Apps are a little pricey. Nice beer selection in the $8 ish range. Forgot I wanted to get a pan dessert, next time. I paid using InKind and got a nice discount.

Not surprising, as on holiday weekends most students go home so the town isn't crowded like a usual week. Service was friendly, fast and attentive. Everyone's meals were very good, except for mine. I made a bad choice. Skip the hot honey chicken over donuts brunch item. Its nothing more than 3 chicken fingers over what tasted like a couple of dry entemann's donuts. (Missed opportunity..theres a greta bakery across the street..should get fresh glazed donuts from them. The donuts ruined the dish. Other meals were very good. Easter quiche special with hollandaise sauce and fried potatoes was delicious, although the size of quiche slices was kind of small. Burrata avocado toast was great, and so was their cheese omelette. It was perfect dining for us as we didn't want a heavy, upscale meal at 1:30 in the afternoon. Will definitely come back next time we are in town for dinner and drinks.

Also, if you've read my prior reviews, you know I always want my water glass filled and the waiter made sure that was the case. It's a small detail that added to the overall comfort of the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, creating a relaxed setting for dinner. The food was well-prepared and flavorful. The veal meatballs were tender, the olive oil and sun-dried tomato dip for the bread was unique and yummy, and the mushroom agnolotti stood out as especially delicious. In fact, I can't wait to go back and have it again. Also, since it was Valentines weekend they added a cute little lips design on top of my drink. Another memorable touch was the mini firework placed on the butterscotch custard to celebrate my birthday. It added a bit of fun to the end of the meal and made the occasion feel special. And the servers checked in pretty frequently to clear the table, ask you if you need another drink, dessert, etc. it did feel a bit rushed. As a starter they give you their Ciabatta bread and the sun-dried tomato oil. The oil was DELICIOUS. I literally bought a jar to take home. For my drink I got the Fresca.
