Visited the Paramus location last night and I enjoyed it. The service was excellent especially considering this is basically a glorified fast food restaurant. The order taker in the beginning was friendly and helpful and the food runners were as well and checked on us multiple times. Restaurant was also very clean and bright. The burgers were very good. I had the BBQ Bacon Cheddar. It was very fresh tasting and juicy. I didn't find it at all greasy. My only small complaint about it woudl be the frizzled onions that came as one of the toppings were a bit on the soggy side. My BF had the Spicy Baja and it was very good as well. The Smashfries were ok.. tasty but nothing that I expected after hearing everyone rave about them. They seemed slightly underdone to me so maybe that's why. We also had the fried pickles which were ok. I've had fried pickles before in other places and they were better than these. These were also way salty even taking into consideration they're pickles. We also ordered a vanilla shake which was AWESOME. Ultimately, I will go back here again when I'm in the mood for a good juicy bad for you burger :) read more

Ever since the whole "pink slime" epidemic, I had sworn off burgers and burger joints for a few years. ("Pink slime???", Google it!) Well, it's been a few years later, and I began searching for a decent burger joint (by "decent" I mean great tasting!) After inadvertently finding Steak N Shake (and discovering that their burgers were pretty good) Smashburger was recommended to me by a friend of a friend's. I was a little skeptical since I thought I had already found a really good burger joint (Steak N Shake), and I also didn't trust or know this friend's "taste buds reputation." Nevertheless, I took the chance, and I was incredibly, and shockingly surprised!!! OMG! I could not believe I had actually found a BETTER tasting burger joint! Smashburger's burgers were juicy, flavorful, seasoned, and some bits of meat were also crispy, giving it that 'grill style' taste! THEY WERE DELICIOUS! One of the best burgers I have tasted in a very, VERY, long time! But like always, I wasn't done, I needed to make sure whether my taste buds were correct, so I sent a few people I knew to Smashburgers, have them taste their burgers, and come back to me with their opinions... Needless to say, every person I sent, LOVE THEM TOO! I cannot rave enough about Smashburger's burgers! They're pretty amazing! I know you're reading this, and probably thinking "who is this guy?!?" but I can comfortably admit that yes, I do have excellent, or refined taste buds! There are a great many people who really do not have decent taste buds and add their "great tasting" ratings on places which really do not deserve it! (Some of those people are the ones who like spray cheese!) Although it's located in an unusual, and almost deserted location (if you blink, you miss it), I definitely do recommend you take the trip and try their burgers! Decent burgers, revolting chicken and bad customer service. Was served a chicken sandwich that was undercooked; almost threw up after barely a bite. Tried to exchange for a basic burger and then witnessed the manager arguing with the cashier about the sandwich being "fine", and then complaining about too many "rebates and returns" that were apparently the cashiers fault. Food was great as always but the two girls working Tuesday night were terrible...we walked in and we're greeted unprofessionally by the redheaded girl , it was hard to find somewhere to sit because every table had food on them finally pushing food off one table we decided to sit down...you would think they would clean off the tables but they were to busy eating and drinking their milkshakes. Ordered lunch from here this past Sunday and was very underwhelmed. I have never been a big fan of Smashburger but it was convenient so I decided to give it another shot. My coworkers and I ordered online and got (4) meals and (2) shakes. My receipt indicated that my order would be ready at 2 pm, so when the clock hit 2:15 pm and I was still waiting I was a little upset, especially when there were only 6-10 people in the restaurant and no one on line to order. When we brought the food back to the office we found that they forgot a few items, a soda a dipping sauce, and furthermore the food had gotten cold. I work less than a mile away so I expected the food to stay warm for at least the 4-minute car ride. The quality of food was ok, but nothing special. Overall I wouldn't recommend ordering from here, maybe it is a better experience if you dine there but I don't think I will be going back. With so many burgers places to choose from in Paramus you are much better spending your time and money somewhere else. read more

my wife and i tried smashburger for the first time last night and i was quite impressed . we arrived at closing time and the employees were more than happy to take the (one last order) .most fast food joints would give a little attitude or a huff and a puff not at smashburger they were happy we were there !i noticed my fav. drink, stuarts black cherry soda on ice and the girl behind the counter pulls out a frosted mug...awesome service knowone does that . the food was fresh ,tasty,and the place was immaculate .i ordered 2 burgers ,fried pickles ,chili fries ,a chocolate shake and my cherry soda, everything was great. i will be a loyal customer there ! smashburger keep up the good work !!! ill be back next week read more

Avoid this location at all costs! The service is horrible and the management seems to be as if a toddler was in charge. The shake I ordered was only 3/4 full and it cost $4.49 (rip off). I ate at the Smashburger on Rte. 17 North in Paramus, NJ this past Saturday late afternoon. Ordered the avocado club burger as did my friend. Since Sunday I have been home sick. (So has he.) I've had to go through an abdominal CAT Scan to rule out the need for an appendectomy, that is how severe the pains were. The rest of the disgusting symptoms I will leave unmentioned. I have missed a week of work, am on 2 antibiotics, had to have blood work done, and will probably never eat another burger ever again. Definitely will never walk into that establishment again. But if I were to find out which employee/employees deciding to prepare and serve food without washing their hands is god bless their souls. Truly stupid, disgusting human beings. Does a person like this understand the consequences poor hand hygiene in the food industry has. Do you understand that you can kill someone. Literally kill someone. Just to make a point, I am much sicker than my friend and we are both considered healthy human beings. A virus like this comes from poor hand hygiene. Good thing we are not immunocompromised. Been here several times now. When it first opened it was pretty good. I did not have any problems. However, last week it was just horrible. Burger was not that good and probably won't return unless a friend wants to go. Had fried pickles they were not good either. Then I had an incident with my fries. I got my fries and they were old and cold. Normally I don't send food back but I was really craving hot crispy fries. The manager walked by and I flagged him down. I asked him for some fresh fries. I didn't think it was going to be such a big deal. Some 5 minutes plus later he comes back with what I think is the same batch of fries just had them dumped in the frier. They were extra greasy soggy on the outside and tough on the inside. Very poor effort by management to satisfy a customer. Really? Your so cheap you can't just get me a fresh thing of fries that are hot and crispy. You saving a nickle just cost you a customer that would have probably come back. read more

this is a GOOD god damn burger. they handed out promo cards at my job and i had never heard of them. today, while hungry, i remembered the card. ordered the 'classic' burger and ordered avocado as an addition. also, sweet potato 'smashfries' and a fountain drink. bill was approx 10 bucks, pretty standard. guy at the register was friendly and told me to take my time and ask questions as this was visibly my first trip here. he recommended starting with a basic burger, which was the right way to go. food was delivered in less than five minutes by a friendly runner kid who asked if i needed anything else. burger was served open, with fresh avocado slices of a decent size enough to taste but not fall right out of the burger. cheese was quite melted, which is a requirement of my burgers. the burger meat itself is seasoned and tasted awesome by itself, let alone with the sauce they throw on it. i found the spice to be a good complement, not overpowering. sweet potato fries were crisp and seasoned with rosemary. staff was friendly and consistently cleaning tables, making themselves busy. also, as another point of interest, they have dr. pepper on tap. a necessary element of life, let's be honest. give this place a shot. not as pricy as bobby's burger palace, not as greasy as five guys, somewhere in between.. but worth a visit. well done, smashburger. read more

I tried Smashburger for the 1st time 2 days ago. I had the Avocado Club burger and Haystack Onions. Also tried a few some Sweet Potato Smashfries. This was my dinner and had only coffee and water all day. The staff was very friendly. Both the Haystack Onions and Sweet Potato Smashfries were great. The Avocado Club, though ... a few bites of the meat tasted a little off. Not exactly staled, but something close to it. Unfortunately, the next morning, my stomach problems began and has been continuing for 2 days so far. Smashburger is off the menu for me and the family moving forward. Their locations and website talk up having food for everyone and Friendly staff. Well platitudes are great but like some businesses they can walk the walk just talk the talk. While my kids still eat bread and fries they like to have burgers, my wife and I can't for a lot of reasons and most places will accommodate with bunless burgers, they use whole pieces of lettuce as the bun. Baring that we eat salads with no cheese and no salad dressing with added sugar. Well it appears that Smashburger will only sell you a salad they way they want it to be or you have lettuce only for the full price. After asking the server four times for two items not to be included her only response was I can give you everything on the side with the items you can't eat mixed in. Really that's your friendly staff. Should have canceled my whole order and taken the family else where instead I sat while they scarfed down their food, feeling bad because the restaurant refused to provide simple requests so their parents could eat also. iF i could have I would have given -5 stars read more

Since Fuddruckers in Paramus is no more I was looking a quality burger place in the area. The cashier was helpful asking me if it was first time. I basically put together a basic "pickles and ketcup" burger. That said it was very good, tasty burger but no up to what you would get at Fudd's which is why I'm only giving it three stars. Also I found the regular size burger to be a little small for the priceThe fries were also every good.
