Always enjoy the food from here, and the service is always efficient and friendly. Hard to beat the signature Smashburger's taste. My one disappointment is the process from the time the food's prepared to the time it's handed to the customer. After a food item is cooked and assembled, staff places it in the window for another employee to bag. Unfortunately, the latter employee is usually one that's just finished handling money. We went randomly one afternoon for two burgers and to split some fries. The condition of this place had me wanting to walk out and the service at the counter confirmed it. Just by glancing around the place, it needed to be picked up and wiped down. The bottles of condiments were dirty, and there were little napkins or wrappers on the table stations. Definitely not a vibe when choosing to dine in. The burgers were okay, but I can't say that we'll be coming back. It might feel a little weird reviewing SmashBURGER considering I didn't actually get a burger there, but then again, they don't just do burgers. Smashburger also offers chicken sandwiches (grilled and crispy), turkey burgers, black bean burgers, and even salads! However, I didn't get any of the above. What did I end up getting? Well before I answer that question, I wanted to preface this review by mentioning that Smashburger had a promo where if you signed up for the SmashClub Rewards program anytime during the month of February, you would get a reward for free large fries (smashed or regular) within two weeks after registration. I was pretty busy during the month of February, so I waited until the very last day to register for their rewards program so that I'd have the first two weeks of March to claim the free fries. The week I registered, I noticed two pretty cool promos Smashburger had during the season of Lent: 1) On Fridays, if you purchase a fish sandwich, you can get another one for free 2) If you purchase a fish sandwich before Easter, then you can get free large fries on a future purchase So in case you're wondering what I ended up getting, there's your answer. Not one but TWO fish sandwiches (because I waited until Friday to make my order). Oh and yes I also did claim my free fries AND got more free fries on top of that. AND I did it all again on Good Friday! Free fries FTW! The fish sandwich is actually listed on the menu as a "limited time offer", so don't be surprised if the Beer Battered Pacific Cod Sandwich is no longer on the menu. This sandwich consists of a wild-caught Pacific Cod that's lightly dipped in a signature beer batter; there is also American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and tartar sauce in the sandwich. Ordering online or via the app was actually problematic for me, however. I played around with ordering on both the website and the app, but I had issues with both, unfortunately. I experimented by attempting to order large fries and applying my reward for free large fries. I did this multiple times over the course of a month, but no matter what I tried, the end result was unfavorable. Sometimes, there wasn't a way for me to apply the reward because it would appear as if the reward never existed on my account. Other times, I was able to apply the reward, but what held me back was when I would still be asked for my payment info even when the total cost was triple zeros. To me, it makes absolutely no sense to submit payment info for a freebie, and I just had enough of it. Ultimately, I decided to just go to the restaurant at South Bay Pavilion and claim my reward. When I got in, there was a rather narrow aisle by the left wall to get to the order counter as well as a handful of customers inside the dining area. The staff members behind the order counter were super busy preparing the other customers' orders, so even though I was first in line to order, it took about 3 minutes before a cashier rung me up. I was intending to go for the BOGO fish sandwich and then the freebie fries. To claim a reward at the order counter, open your app and tap the reward you want to redeem. There should be a QR code that you can scan at the register, but the first time I tried it, it didn't work, so the cashier manually applied my reward. For the fries, you can choose to have them smashed, and when I say smashed, I don't mean smashing with bare hands! According to Smashburger, that means tossing the fries in rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. How were the fish sandwiches? Not bad, but also not great. The fish is pretty bland, and the only flavor really comes from the tartar sauce, which I thought there could have been more of. I would recommend letting the sandwich cool down a little bit because the fish kind of burned my tongue on the first bite. I ate one in my car and took the other home for later. Which tasted better? Some might say the second one, but I don't really have a preference. I've had both regular fries and Smashfries. Regular fries are pretty much just your standard, ordinary fries. Nothing else to say. Smashfries, on the other hand, obviously have more flavor, but not necessarily as much as you would think. You'd probably have to eat about 3-4 fries before you can really experience the extra flavor in the Smashfries that's not in the regular fries. Oh and if you used ketchup on the Smashfries, you wouldn't be able to taste the rosemary, garlic, or olive oil; it'd almost feel like you're eating regular fries, which are 10 cents cheaper than Smashfries. If you order fries to go, you'll get a handful of ketchup packets, which don the Smashburger logo. Even though the fish sandwich and fries weren't bad, they're not worth going out of the way for if not for the aforementioned promos. Still, I'd be down to try their burgers, which are made with 100% certified angus beef, if I ever find myself in Carson craving a burger not named Five Guys. read more

So even though I was 10 minutes earlier than the projected pick up time, my burger and fries were not hot. My burger looks good. It's kinda messy I like a messy sandwich sometimes. It doesn't make for a good photo but it is what it is. I think sometimes the employees think if you order online it's not necessary for the food to be hot because customer is not gonna be there on time anyway. I don't know I'm just speculating. I ordered the double smash burger and the smash fries and it hit the spot. Shout out to the cashier Alberto who hooked me and my cousin up with extra truffle aioli mayo sauce for our smash fries! My cousin and I dined in since it was empty and clean (I noticed a lot of Door Dashers picking up from here). I typically enjoy going to smash burger. The food tastes similar to other smash burgers but the staff made the experience a little worse than other locations. They were not on top of their game at the cashier line and employees were consistently rude to us as well as other customers. Place was a bit busy so when it was time to order Jonathan informed us that there might be a 20 min wait because they were short staffed but we didn't care to wait but appreciated that he communicated that info to us. As we sat and waited I saw how hard Jonathan worked front and back to help get orders out quickly with the cook and soon after we got our order and we got under 10 minutes which was impressive! So, while this location appears to be resource-constrained, the staff here do an excellent job of providing customers with a great experience! Shirai is consistently showcasing fantastic customer service and the food is always fresh and delicious. The team here seem to do a great job in keeping the place clean and organized. I had one of their outlying chains in an airport. Needless to say wasn't very impressed. The smash style burger is suppose to be crispy, cooked all the way through and fast. My burger was not crispy and not cook all the way through. The quickest part of my experience was the time it took to take my order. From the glance where the kitchen widow opens there was no sense of urgency or hustle. The to go area they had us wait was clean at least and fully stocked. My overall rating for this establishment is 2 out of 5 If you hit a local brick and mortar I would say go for it but as for the outlying chains stay away. read more

The first impression was the lack of acknowledgement from the workers. I guess one of them was being trained but not once did any of the two say "I'll be with you in a moment". Last night I ordered two meals at the restaurant. The American Single and the other one involving Mushrooms with large sweet potato fries. I would've said it'd be any other order but I came around 30 minutes before closing and the staff looked tired. Regardless, they still took my order after a long day's hard work! This place is pretty good! I got their Black Bean burger and it was tasty. Only criticism is that it's literally a black bean patty, nothing else in it (just mashed beans into a patty).
