    * The Double Smash burger was great - the buns were incredibly soft, the cheese was gooey, and the beef had a nice smashed crust with crispy edges * The fries were nicely seasoned and crunchy and the SM sauce that came with it was delicious blend of sweet and tangy * Overall, a delicious spot in downtown L.A. that has friendly service and is reasonably priced for its location

We've been starving for some new food options in our neck of DTLA, particularly this little strip mall where restaurants don't seem to last terribly long over the past couple years, but my boss passed by today and said that they were open so he came over, and unfortunately, he's vegetarian so they don't have any options for him, but for me, their menu is limited, but their prices are very fair for smash burgers let alone Smashburger's in DTLA. Smashed and charred edges to perfection, with good taste. Simple, but tasty! The fries are shoestring, but also cooked perfectly crispy and topped with a little spice and a little drizzle. The Egg Roll Burger... it is in fact an Egg Roll w the Smashburger ingredients inside. Tasty and I'd get it again for a change-up, but the better value (and flavor) is in their burgers. Super nice crew, not much ambience inside and they're still having some opening day glitches, but I do foresee us in my office frequenting this location

A Double Smash Burger, good lacing and tasty!!!

On a whim and to have a snack before going out to dinner later, my girlfriend and I decided to walk next-door to a newly opened restaurant on the ground floor of the building we are staying in... This would be "Smash Masters," a spartan and clean restaurant that really only has one or two things on the menu: smash burgers and something they have created eponymously called an eggroll smash burger. No chicken. No pork. Just beef smash burgers... And let me tell you, they are excellent burgers, what with the patties being extremely thin and smashed so as to get that lacing we all love protruding out of the soft potato bun. They come w pickles, cheese, onions and sauce. Perfect. Something we were not expecting to crow about are their french fries which are as good as any I've ever had at a smash burger joint. Thin, crispy shoe string fries nicely and not overly seasoned w some kind of Lawry's Seasoning Salt that just makes them sing. The smash sauce here is good, nothing remarkable, and maybe a tad looser than I'd like, but damn serviceable too. These are smash burgers of the highest order! Get here.

    This sauce is so good!

You better bring it if you name yourself Smash Masters. This new Smash Burger spot in DTLA does just that. Straigh . Delicious burgers at a great price and excellent friendly and welcoming service. Come support these guys, we really need more options like this. Get the Double Smash meal at only $15 and you will be amazed at the quality and taste for a very reasonable price. You will walk out full and completely satisfied.

This appears to be a brand spanking new place. It bright and clean. It was quite empty. I ordered a #1 with bacon plus fries and a drink. The attendant was quite friendly. He made sure I was good that my fries coming with smash sauce. My food was quickly made. It was modestly sized burger, in retrospect I should of ordered a double. I would encourage them to offer a triple, though it appears you can a la carte add a patty to a double. The patty is plenty smashed with a lot of mallard goodness. Great flavors from the burger and fries. This place is off to a good start, its tough out here. I hope they eventually add onion rings and more.

flop this was $15...it's not worth that much imo like it's not bad but it's very underwhelming it's like a school lunch that id eat if it was free but wouldn't go out of my way to pay for

With only 3-5 options this burger spot is great for its customer service and food. I got the combo #2. The fries were good. Well seasoned. The added sauce gave my taste buds a kick. The burger was juicy. I got my food to go but there are tables to sit down at.

The place is very clean and nice!

Chicken sando is big, great portion size of fries as well. Definitely can share. Normally I don't care for crinkle fries but they were fried & seasoned to perfection. Honorable mention to the staff behind the counter as well, every person I made eye contact with (although they were busy) returned a smile. I appreciate feeling welcomed. Great people & great food.

I stuck with getting the mild sando, and didn't expect the chicken breast so gigantic! It was a delicious sandwich and the spice was pretty good. I'm glad I didn't go any spicier than that. I ordered the fries which were actually pretty good. They were definitely seasoned, but they weren't heavily in taste sense. They had something for me to drink and it went really well with a meal actually. I'm glad that I could say that I enjoyed this place from beginning to end. It is a little hidden, but luckily for me I found it. Definitely will come back to have my wife try it one day.

And wow, I totally get why it's such a big deal now. My mind is officially blown! I'll be honest, when I saw the menu, I did a slight double-take at the prices, but trust me, every single penny is worth it. This isn't just fast food; it's an experience in itself. These aren't just ordinary burgers; they're *the* iconic chili burgers, and they absolutely live up to their reputation. As soon as I bit into mine, it was pure bliss. The rich, savory chili, the perfectly cooked patty, and all the fixings just melted together in a glorious, wonderfully messy symphony of flavors. It was exactly as amazing as everyone described, and I'm officially obsessed. I think I've found my new favorite indulgence! So, I had a thought - if you, Art, or Beverley ever find yourselves in the vicinity, you absolutely, positively *have* to stop by and treat yourselves. It's truly a unique culinary adventure, and I have a feeling you'd all be singing its praises too.

The overall Yelp rating reflects the customer experience--not the food ( i.e., what customers…read moreexperience while waiting, before ordering and receiving foods ) Part I: Production of Service Employees earn 3 Stars ***** The customer experience is awful--not awesome. I avoid this location, for sure, on celebratory occasions and may drive-by if the vibe is off--hence a little. Although, this iconic location is nestled in the middle of a busy street intersection, homelessness, and the hostility of the neighborhood--You could easily experience a great experience (the food) or a bad visit (the food and experience). This Los Angeles institution has built a reputation for serving the public--not the community or neighborhood. A successful business model in malnourished neighborhoods is a crucifix. However, I don't think Original Tommy's should carry the cross alone. But, I would be curious to know how they benefited the community and not their bottom line. By celebrating 80 years and to charge .80 cents for a chili burger is Good--but ".80 cents" every eighty years--not so much. This location's only production is to manufacture and produce hamburgers. The irony is that customers need to communicate beforehand. The employees are not trained properly in how to communicate with patrons or retain their knowledge of products and use of terminal operations of cash and credit card systems efficiently will make less than stellar occasions, for the following reasons: - wait longer than necessary to order and receive - processing food orders without customers request - you will receive someone else's order by mistake - after waiting in line (your turn to order) and the credit card systems is down "but you have no cash" -constantly watching out for moving vehicles "driving in or backing out" - the uncertainty of conflict and confusion that arise in long lines - offering promotional opportunities with failed knowledge and understanding of the PROMOTION! - the inconsistency of staff asking customers "for their telephone" to credit their purchases with "points to earn" or when customers supply their food requests and tele- information the employees appear clueless and customer are repeating their orders "over and over" and reconfirming their order "over and over" again. -depend upon your visits your hamburger may have been prepared (the patty pre-cooked) not on the grill. So your hamburger experience may be "super hot" on busy days and nights but "Luke warm" on other days and nights. - the uncertainty of the "other" section where customers can place orders are "open or closed" I haven't figured it out yet--neither have they. The reason why most ppl will order at the original location because the emphasis of production is placed on the landmark location--not the side bar to handle crowd overflow, etc... Original Tommy's Burgers has mastered the art of food not public relations--for example, read Yelp Reviews. Part II: Customer Satisfaction Foods earn 3 - 4.5 Stars ***** The food is enjoyable and can easily bring a smile to your face. No one enjoys going from "smiling to frowning" for any reason (before, during or after). I hope that personnel do better to improve customer experience before customer satisfaction--hence "customer" is before customer service. I recommend this location. Buyer BeWare.

I ordered the chicken strips with fries, while my partner ordered a two-piece chicken dinner with macaroni salad and spicy rice. Although we had to wait a little while for the food, it arrived hot. We both agreed that it was some of the best fast-food fried chicken we had ever eaten. The chicken was moist and the batter was crispy. My fries were good, and my partner's macaroni salad and spicy rice were both flavorful. We especially loved the biscuit. I also couldn't help noticing that although the dining room feels like something of a relic, it is very well maintained. There were no dirty tables and no trash on the floor. I was genuinely shocked when the cashier came out to ask how everything was and whether we needed anything else. Most fast-food chains seem determined to eliminate as much human interaction as possible. Pioneer Chicken was a refreshing reminder that fast food can still be friendly, clean and satisfying. Pioneer Chicken is a winner in my book!

We were told to go to the next window. We get to the next window and it's a window to the actual restaurant and not part of the kitchen. I have never seen this at a McDonald's before. But no, second window was just a window to the restaurant. We pulled up too far and instead of letting us just walk back and pick up the food, or just bring the food to us in the parking spot, I guess this is for safety of the workers since it was really late at night and there's transients around, but we had to just weirdly reverse and bring our car back into the drive thru line, much to the ire of the other customers.
