I came here to eat on my first trip ever to Georgetown. If you're a sandwich fan, this place really hits the spot. I ordered the "Lil Brat" which is basically a Reuben sandwich with your choice of corned beef, turkey, or field roast. I chose the corn beef per recommendation of the waiter. It was delicious! The meat was juicy and the combination of melted swiss cheese and kraut was amazing. The bread, which is a marbled rye, was perfectly toasted. The meat was sliced thin but they weren't stingy on meat. Portion was perfect. The atmosphere is very laid back and we had no problem getting seats. I would give this place a 5 star but I need to come back and try their other sandwiches before making that decision =) So far so good though! read more

I've only really had their reuben with field roast, so I can't speak for much else, but this is the best reuben I've ever had (and doubly so considering it's vegetarian)! Nice atmosphere - bartenders are always very friendly. read more

I am so disappointed with Smarty Pants lately. 1st, it was the service, then it was the service & the food! #1: I got the chips & salsa w/ my Troublemaker Sandwich. the "fresh homemade" salsa came in a tiny paper-cup (smaller then a shot glass). So, one dip with a chip and it was gone. I asked for some more and the waitress brings me a 2nd tiny cup. then comes the bill and $1.50 for a extra 1/2 oz cup of bland salsa? wow. #2: breakfast. I ordered the Tex Hex. bad idea. for $8 you get a plate of scrambled eggs topped with "homemade chili" (unspiced, greasy, watery, ground beef with bland beans topped with jalapenos & some sour cream) - when asked how it was by the waitress, I was honest and said it wasn't very good. I took one bite and didn't touch it. Yes, I did eat the toast...I had to sit while my friends ate. So, when I get the bill I received $3.50 off - compliments of Smarty Pants! Thanks Smarty Pants. I know my toast was worth $4.50. Gotta get every nickel you can! But you won't get anymore of my business. Treat your customers well and they will return. Its a shame, because the Troublemaker is a pretty good sandwich. read more

Good sandwiches, though there always seems to be something missing that keeps them from being great sandwiches. Can get packed at lunch time so service can be slow, but what can you do. In the summer it has out door seating, which is great in a neighborhood with almost no other outdoor options. read more

I've been here a few times, most recently on Saturday. The food has varied between ok and good but the service is terrible. I think the service problem is 60% slow kitchen/40% indifferent servers. Our food took forever and then once the cook yelled "order up" the server/bartender continued to pour drinks for some regulars while our food just sat there for 5 minutes. There's no heat lamp either so my eggs were getting cold. I had Huevos Panteros which wasn't bad but it seemed like it was missing something. Our server did comp our (non-alcoholic) drinks I assume as an apology for how long our food took. But most unfortunately of all, I got a really bad stomachache an hour after eating and had really bad gastrointestinal distress the rest of the afternoon. I don't think I'll be back. read more

This place is badass, especially if you're into bikes. It's a no frills joint that serves cold beer, good drinks and great food. I've only been for lunch, but they have you in and out without rushing you well within the lunch hour. If you're not afraid to go into the area, check it out. Service kind of stinks. Two thumbs up for having field roast, but a million thumbs down for making the mistake and serving my veggie boyfriend some meat tacos and he ate one. Mistakes happen, but their attitude was so very passive and we were made to feel like it was our fault somehow even though we were extremely polite during a time when he honestly felt like puking. This is one of the best breakfast/lunch spots in the entire Seattle metro area. The place itself is steeped in character and motorcycle paraphernalia. Watch Evil Knievel race through the "Ring of Fire" for 25 cents. The "Hustler" breakfast sandwich is the bomb, and so is the "Chickenhawk". There's a Po Boy style sandwich that is also awesome, that I forget the name of. There's also a Frito-Chili Bowl (forgot the proper name) that's a concoction to try. Service is snappy and the whole experience is worth the drive to Georgetown, especially if you're nursing a hangover on a weekend. read more

We chose this place after a 5K walk on Sunday so we could splurge a bit on calories. After reading several reviews, it looked like a great place to go. We arrive just around noon and found a table on the patio. We were met by a server within the first 5 minutes with menus. It took another 10 minutes at least for him to take our drink order. Then it took another 20 minutes to get our drinks. Between the drink order and the drinks he took our food order. During that time we finished our first drinks and were wanting more but the server did come back. The other people we were with actually went to the bar to order more drinks and when the server brought them to the table he didn't even ask if my husband and I wanted another round. We sat there for an entire hour before our food came. We had the vegetarian chili and the meat chili and assumed that would be a starter but is was brought the same time as the entree course. Both of the chilis were fine. My husband and I split a Troublemaker sandwich and his half was fine, my half had little to no chicken and absolutely no onions. I can forgive bad service if the food was worth waiting for. It is a double insult to wait that long for bad food. I dont know if this was an off day for them or not but I can safely say I will never go back there again. Sorry, Smarty Pants. It just wasn't your day. read more

Wow! Not your ordinary "hole in the wall"! Eclectic, chill atmosphere. Digging the brick wall and industrial theme. Must be of age to eat here. Husband got the turkey avocado, I ordered the Italian sandwich(can't remember what it's called). Absolutely delicious! Potato salad w/ a pickle was also refreshing. Food was good & server was sweet BUT We were there Wednesday night 6/12. Management you need to check in with your bartender. Good lord. I ordered a simple vodka soda but the soda was flat so I asked if he wouldn't mind making me a new one and it sent him into a fit. Slamming the new glass down and throwing the old bottle over his shoulder like a child. Relax buddy...making drinks IS part of your job. The server was very sweet however. But she also seemed a bit intimidated by him. When I told her about the soda being flat she told me I would have to ask the bartender myself! haha...I soon found out why. Yikes! First time I went to SMarty Pants, about two years ago, the service was horrible and the food was fine. Neither really drove me to want to go back. But we found ourselves in SoDo on a Sunday and wanted some brunch. I am so glad I went back. They have vegartian biscuits and gravy which made my day. We went back a week later to try some sammiches and their chili. Both were great, and having field roast on anything is wonderful. Be ware, the PORTIONS ARE HUGE, so go with an appetite. read more

I ordered a Pear Hard Cider, which I absolutely love and it was only $5!! Super price. I also ordered a small version of the lunch time chicken and cheese quesadilla. So delicious. Of course there are plenty of other breakfast dishes to choose from, but I can't resist a good bennie. Smarty Pants is located in the heart of my favorite neighborhood, Georgetown. The breakfast crowd is diverse, from Seattle hipsters to little old ladies. And the music is always good...that is, if you like a little Depeche Mode with your coffee. read more

I love this place. Amy is an awesome bartender, never skips a beat. She's one reason I go here. The others are excellent food, cheap PBR on tap, and yummy specials. $1 tacos on Monday that are yummy and a fantastic cream of poblano soup, regular hot sandwich specials too, and let's not forget the frito-pie which is a bowl of chili topped with a generous amount of fritos, sour cream, and jalapenos. It's definitely a bar, but feels more like a restaurant with a bar. The decor is cool (old motorcycles and constant running vids of motorcycle racing, old and new), plus they have a great deck open spring/summer/fall with a gas fire surrounded by a big table for chilly evenings. I always get the Troublemaker, the Troublemaker Pileup if I'm here for brunch, or a side of the Trouble sauce if I get one of the other entrees. No regrets. The Trouble sauce is mouth-watering: creamy, slightly sweet, and spicy. Most of the brunch items are very good choices if you're here on the weekend. Otherwise, get a sandwich. I've not been impressed with the nachos, hummus, quesadilla, or salads. Average bar food. Mimosas are generous and refreshing. And I appreciate the outdoor seating! read more

Great sandwich and friendly staff in this classic motorcycle themed establishment. I had the troublemaker, the most popular of their sandwiches. The hoagie style bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside filled with a delicious melange of ingredients. One time, I was getting drunk next door where they didn't serve food (WTF), I forgot the name of that place with my coworkers and went here to try some food. I've been going to Smarty Pants (Georgetown) for at least the past five years. Brunch and sandwiches (and booze) are always great, but this past Friday after work I had the BEST French Dip sandwich I've ever had in my life. I've had their French dip before and it was pretty great (previously a non-menu special item ), but THIS time it was on the menu so I ordered it again. The French roll was soft, cut perfectly and didn't disintegrate in the au jus. It had the perfect ratio of horseradish, swiss cheese, and caramelized onions. The roast beef was flavorful and tender. The au jus wasn't too salty or too watery. I highly recommend you try the French Dip. read more

I've been hearing for a long time that "[I] just haaaaave to come here and try their bloody mary." I finally made it, and my friends were right - their bloody marys are excellent! They're spicy and amazing - if you're in to bloody marys, come check theirs out. And while you're there, try their better than you thought it would be food. The owners are from Chicago, and maybe that colors my judgment a bit, but it also inspires some of their menu items. I went with the french dip, which was utterly, surprisingly delicious. The vibe of this place is kind of biker bar, but the food and drinks are spot on. If you like good food and good drinks, get your butt in gear and head on over to Smarty Pants! read more

Been here twice and I like it! First time I went because I had been working at a coffee shop in Georgtown. I was really hungry but all I wanted as a really good turkey sandwich. I found this place mostly because I saw someone on the street shouting to a friend "This place is fucking good!" So with an endorsement like that, how could I not try it. Got a couple of beers and a turkey sandwich which was really good. They didn't have fries which was a little sad, but it wasn't like they were out, the sandwich just comes with chips, or coleslaw, or some other side I can't remember just at the moment and I didn't really want fries anyway. The sandwich came out and was really good. I drake my beer, ordered another, then ordered some fries because I wanted to sit and watch people for a bit. The bar is motorcycle focused, which is not to say a biker bar. It's really into motercycle racing, so I people watched a bit. Most of the crowd was nice and talkative but didn't mind ignoring the guy with the book in the back picking through his fries. Recently I came back with my boyfriend. He had been talking about wanting a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich for a week and I remembered that they had one here called the Thunderbird. He got that and I got the Chicago Italian Beef. Heartbreakingly brunchless on my first visit. However, they were offering one egg dish which came with hashbrowns and your choice of morningstar sausage or meat. Despite this terrible tragedy, I enjoyed the meal and atmosphere and am willing to give them another shot. My companion enjoyed a spicy bloody mary. Here's the breakdown - SmartyPants has delicious sandwiches and decent sides at a reasonable price. I love the Chickenhawk - delicious soft chicken in a really good barbeque sauce with sauteed onions. So, four stars for food. The music is too typically too loud and the indoor seating area is a little dark - dock one star. However, they have a large outdoor patio and they allow dogs to sit out there with you - add two stars in the summer and one star in the winter...the outdoor patio is a little hard to enjoy when it's 40 degrees outside. I love that Georgetown is so dog friendly, which is hard to get in the city where all the outdoor patios are tiny and seem to be straddling busy sidewalks. read more
