I deducted a star since I felt the sales rep wasted our time (it was very difficult to try to politely end the video call with him) by trying to tell us that consumer-grade cameras weren't going to meet our needs and he tried to upsell us by showing an unrealistic simulation of how fuzzy the images would look compared to their systems he wanted us to buy. Brian wasn't able to get one of our pre-existing wired professional camera system to work, and he dropped communication and delayed appointments by months several times while this was all happening, but I appreciate that he didn't charge us for this, so I'm just adding this as an FYI.

There were hardware glitches after installation, but the Got Watts team reliably spotted them - without me realizing there was even an issue - and sent teams out to ensure my equipment worked as promised. Years later I noticed some leaks through my roof where some phase 2 panels were installed. I notified Got Watts and they sent large crews to my home to rectify the issue over several days. This was no small fix. They probably spent vastly more to rectify the leaks than they did to install the panels to begin with. No one likes to have problems with an install. But, it means a lot for a contractor to honor their commitment and spend vast sums to honor their warranty, and their word, to their customer. I've had "good companies" make promises they wouldn't honor once the initial check cleared. Got Watts was true to their word and treated me in a dignified manner that is rare these days. However, in that time he shored up a leak with a temporary patch and had an estimate of how much work it would be to take care of everything, which ended up being much more reasonable than some other places we evaluated. Adam came back when he had enough open schedule to fix everything and some parts were shipped in. An incredibly nice guy, and just an incredibly fair and integrity oriented operation. All the vendors I evaluated were five stars with many reviews, but Letts was the only one that didn't feel like I was being upsold and he was just out there to help me solve my problems. Honestly can't wait to hire them again, which is an absurd thing to say about a plumber, but man what a great experience. I will rave about them to anyone who will listen.

I needed to install a 16 camera security system at our 18 unit, 3 story condominium complex. I had bid the project out to 8 installers. After a long vendor review process, I ended up selecting to work with Greg at Smart Home Security Control. It was a great decision on my part! Initially, it took me and the rest of the HOA Board many months to review, make design decisions, iterations, hold our discussions and approve funding for the project. During this time, some vendors got impatient and naggy; some stopped replying as I reached out letting them know the project delays. Greg on the other hand, would check in with me every month or so, and never used any pressure. He was very professional and remained willing and interested in the project while we got our issues resolved on the HOA's end. His quote was also very thorough and competitive (it wasn't the lowest I received, but it was very reasonable given some other numbers thrown at me), and I really liked the equipment options and specs he communicated to me. When it came time to install, his installers led by Carl were top notch! Punctual, honest, great communicators, and excellent craftsmen. They had to work for a number of days to cover the vast spans of the condo complex - running and installing conduits, and taping existing unused infrastructure, as well as routing and hiding wires within and through walls. Every day they left the area tidy, and checked in with me which was great. After project completion, I had a tutorial from Carl of the system capabilities and a fully set up and functioning camera system (16 channel, 4K, NVR/DVR, with continuous loop recording, and wifi enabled smart phone app for quick viewing/recording) The system looks and operates at my high expectations, and I'm really thrilled with the experience I had. I have two very large flat screen TV's and sound bars I have been wanting to place on articulating mounts and have the soundbar mounted under the TV since last year. I reached out a few weeks ago to several companies for quotes and answers to my questions. In short, I was looking for a high quality company with a track record of professional installation that could do exactly what I want end-to-end. I did not want to shop for mounts or cables, etc. Through Yelp Greg answered every question I had. He was patient and very helpful. There were times I thought I was probably annoying because I was asking so many detailed questions. Mind you, I did reach out to other organizations on Yelp with the same questions and I either got partial replies or one question answered than radio silence. I told Greg what I had going on at my home and what I would like to have done. Greg is a good listener and after asking me a few key questions, he thoroughly informed me of all the possibilities and upgrades that are now available. We have some complex alarm needs for our home. Did not scare Greg one bit. He was confident he could meet our needs, checked with his installer, pre-tested the necessary options, scheduled the installation quickly (Over 50 sensors and devices). Pat showed up on the installation day, on time, loaded with courtesy (and as we found out throughout the installation, plenty of expertise), and went to work installing the system. Our complex data firewall did not bother him and he worked with us to accommodate his devices. My family hardly noticed his presence while he systematically worked his way through the house. In phase 1 of our remodel, the VSS team helped us update our wifi and establish Sonos across our 2 most populated rooms and our back patio. (Their flexibility and patience shined here as they did not push to expand into additional rooms yet because they knew we were planning a Phase 2 remodel) Because they did such a stellar job on the Phase 1 and because they were so professional, fast and flexible we reached out and asked them to add Sonos speakers across the entire house, plus 1 Sonos "Move" so we'd have another outdoor speaker we could place wherever we wanted in the back or front yard when entertaining guests. VSS gets 5+ stars from me because additionally as part of Phase 2 they also identified and FIXED a deficiency in the wifi setup that was mainly due to a wifi service upgrade after they had completed Phase 1. This improvement to the wifi was incredibly timely given my 3 kids were (still are) all home doing distance learning because of Covid-19. If you have A/V needs, these guys are the best. I highly recommend them and they have secured a lifetime customer in me for the high quality of their work, professionalism and customer service. Job 1: They crawled halfway across our house, through our rat maze of an attic, to install a hanging light in a vaulted ceiling over our pool table. There was no previous light or even any power there, and they got it installed with a switch in the wall and it looks & works perfect. Job 2: I called 2 of Tesla's "authorized installers" to have my 80 amp wall charger installed. The first said it couldn't be done without changing my whole house panel (!), and the second said yes, but it would cost $1300. Then I remembered the great job Bennett had done on the light and called Chris. Glad I did! He was there the next day for an estimate, and 4 days later it was installed for less than 1/2 the price quoted by the second place. They came by and looked and told us it was a bigger problem they could not fix and would send us a quote. The quote included several pieces of equipment that were priced 2-5x retail. FSTG-DREAM-PRO 10G Cloud Gateway with 100+ UniFi device / 1,000+ client support and 3.5 Gbps IPS routing. was quoted as $999.99 when it retails for $379 FSTG 10Gbps SFP+ Direct Attach Cable (1meter) was quoted at $29.99 when it retails for $15 OvrC Pro Lifetime License + Hub, non-locking barrel connector power connection type was quoted as $999.99 when it retails for to $199 *note this is only available to authorized AV dealers but a 5x mark up is insane I asked why and was told it was small business markup and was told quote "It includes sourcing, shipping, platform fees, payment processing fees and more that our clients may not originally consider. The raised price also covers our regular remote network maintenance, ensuring your network continuously runs at peak performance following the conclusion of the project. A large portion of business model is our post-install support and efforts to create peace of mind for our clientele regarding our systems." However on that quote was also a $70/mo service plan that was supposed to cover the aforementioned post-install support. I asked about the double charge for support and asked if I could bring my own equipment and they ignored my email So this company is SUPER SHADY and please review your quotes and google any equipment that they tell you that you need because 1. you probably don't need it (we ended up fixing the internet ourselves) and 2. they are probably overcharging you. Just run the quote through Claude or ChatGPT and ask if there's anything concerning in it. It will do all the research for you.
