We moved to a new place and were looking to upgrade to newer security cameras. I reached out to a few different smart home installers, and there were a lot of them that just didn't install cameras, let alone the specific brand that I had purchased. Of all the shops that responded to my inquiry, Lorena's was the most specific - this shop clearly has a lot of experience, and she immediately inquired about the specific model I had and pointed me to a gallery of all their installs with my specific camera. Scheduling was a bit tricky over the holidays, but Lorena and Will were very flexible in working with me to find the right time. They first came out for a visual walk around to plan out the install. They helped me determine the optimum angles and placement, power sources, and strength of connetivity. I really appreciated the expertise they brought. I had also purchased more cameras than they felt was necessary, and they made recommendations that not only saved me money, but also ones that would give us the best use of the security cameras. On the day of the install, they spent pretty much the entire day here - their work was extremely detailed and none of it was rushed. Will and Lorena were extremely patient with all my questions, and took their time helping me set up the camera in the app as well as making a ton of minor adjustments until I was happy with the placement. I could not have had a more positive experience working with Will and Lorena. I booked Will to install a Nest Hello doorbell, but I had electrical issues that prevented us from moving forward. He went well beyond what was required to try and work through the issue, coach me on how my house was setup, and what he recommended as a fix. In the end they charged me nothing even though he spent well over an hour at my residence. This commitment to customer service is what made me call them back to complete the install of the Nest Hello and several Nest Outdoor cameras. Will was able to walk me through all of his recommendations regarding where to place cameras and options I had to save money at every turn. They even told me not to buy cameras through them because Google had better deals, that was a nice gesture. The project install was as positive as I could have hoped. Will is very friendly and easy to talk to. You can tell as soon as he gets started that this is not his first project. He is very efficient and completed all the work confidently in a few hours. He is also an expert at the smart home apps. AvidWorks is as good as it gets. We had them install Ring cameras on our property and the experience was great from start to finish. Lorena and Will were buttoned up, proactive, conscientious, and transparent. I felt like I understood what was required, what they'd be doing, and what we'd be charged throughout the entire process. Very strange experience here - I worked with AvidWorks on a quote for a new home install of lighting, audio, networking, cameras, etc. They provided a full quote with subtotals per project section, but when asked for a more detailed quote showing time and materials as separate items, they refused and "declined to move forward" on the project. This didn't seem like an unreasonable request - how else am I supposed to compare pricing to the other proposals I've received, who had no problem separating out time from materials? I've had a really positive experience using AvidWorks to install our Nest Thermostat! Lorena was very responsive and helpful in getting our appointment setup. I really liked that we didn't need an appointment to determine if our thermostat system was compatible or not with Nest but rather we could just email pictures of our existing system and Lorena would let us know if our system was compatible or not. And then run a new 8 wire line from attic, my attic is really narrow, but Ian still enter 3 times in order to make sure wire line runs perfect. These folks were delightful to work with because they are truly a team with you figuring out how to make all these home automation gadgets work. We replaced an ancient Toro irrigation sprinkler system controller with a Rachio 2nd generation controller for 10 zones. These things are not DIY jobs and my Rachio had stayed in the Amazon delivery box for 3 months. They programmed it, took photos of the zones, connected the cables, figured out workarounds for awkward situations that the manufacturer has created by positioning certain openings in specific places. They didn't leave until absolutely sure it worked as expected. Perfect job. I can't stop showing people how easy it is to use. Avidworks recently installed a Nest/Yale lock on our front door. Will and Lorena are great to work with. They both know their stuff. Will was on time, got immediately to work, did a today installation, and then walked me through it until he was sure I understood how it works. I thought the installation price was more than fair, given the quality of the work. I disagree with the reviewer who said that they sell the equipment at a premium. Nest was running sales at the time I purchased my lock, and they passed along a discount. They also gave me the option of purchasing the equipment myself. Lorena made it easy to schedule an appointment, and the quote she provided was competitive with other offers. AvidWorks was the only company that requested photos of my old thermostat in advance, too, to ensure my wiring was compatible with the Nest. It was this attention to detail and preparation that made me decide to work with them. Their technician, Will, was a pleasure to work with. He verified my current heating/cooling were working properly, cleaned up and labeled the nest of wiring in my old thermostat, installed the Nest, helped configure it to work with my home, and then carefully verified every part of the new system was working: heating, cooling, phone control, and device control. Afterwards, Will took the time to talk with me about other Smart Home upgrades I was planning. I was looking for someone who could install a Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell for me and switch out my low voltage transformer to a smart doorbell compatible one. I found AvidWorks Technology on the Nest Pro Finder website, and decided to give them a try after reading all the positive reviews. I didn't regret it. Both Lorena Peer, who set up my appointment, and Will Gates, who came to my home to perform the installation were excellent people to work with. Lorena was prompt in respond, gave thorough instructions on what to check and prepare for beforehand, and the process of setting up the appointment was hassle-free. Will was punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was super delighted that he showed up at my garage door right on time as I had never had any home service experience that was not late. The whole installation process was also very pleasant. Will did not merely come to install the unit. He made sure that the installation was aesthetically pleasing and he tried to keep things clean. During the process, he explained to me what he was doing, and gave me all the details I needed to know about my new device. He also filled his clients' in with updates on current smart devices on the market if you happened to be interested. Finally, on top of all this, he also took his time to check for me a lighting related problem I was having in my home, which he had no obligation to do so. While he was not able to resolve the issue on spot, he kindly offer to transfer me to their lighting team to see if anything could be done. I am looking forward to heard back from them, and probably get my lighting system to become smart lighting controlled if everything goes well. The only downside is that they are not the cheapest in town. This is both in terms of the fee they charge for the installation and the price they charge for items you buy from them. I guess it is the price you pay for getting premium service, but if you value quality like me, I would totally go for it. Last thing to note is that if you use them, try buying everything you need for the installation by yourself. That includes the doorbell, transformer, and any wall plate or protector that you plan to use. The charge for these items are also on the "premium" side, too. All in all, I definitely will recommend them and will get them to come back if I need any smart home installations in the future. read more

I am glad I decide to have AvidWorks Technology (specially Will Gate) to install the outdoor cameras. We like Nest but husband not having the tool and skill to drill hole, put raceway conceal the cables indoor. At the beginning he consider battery power for DIY but I don't think it is fun re-charging the battery 2-3 weeks given life is busy enough. Fortunately found AvidWork Tech via Nest pro. I got 3 quotes but end up with AvidWorks consider the excellent review on yelp although it is the most expensive (especially it requires $99 initial site visit). The reason is husband really care how the cable conceal indoor and AvidWorks has picture proven it has the best design and quality sent by Lorena. Will and Lorena are also flexible with changes. A few week before installation, I want the cable go the other way and connect to another outlet, they honor the request. It was very hot on the installation day but Will did not rush via the process, it appears he totally ignore the heat and immense to produce his usual high quality work. You won't believe how labor intensive is to install the raceway concealing the cable until you witnessed it. It took a super experience installer like Will more than 3 hours for each outdoor camera (excluding the time he drove to home depot as the material ran out). The finish work is neat, clean and simple but it requires a lot of tools which we definitely don't want to invest in for this rare work, it is not like we install outdoor camera daily, therefore it is not cost effective getting all those tools, plus we don't have the skill to make it look nice. The conclusion is we are fortunate to have Will take care of the installation for us. Highly recommend Will Gates! read more

I have used AvidWorks Technology on a number of my home automation projects. I had been looking for some time for a way to transition a perfectly working DSC alarm system with both wired and wireless zones to a modern day working solution that could be controlled remotely by a mobile device. I came across this Canadian based company that had an interface that could be added to outdated alarm panels to provide the technology to accomplished this task. I notified AvidWorks about this particular interface and my wishes to install this device if possible. The team of Will Gates and Lorena Peer took it from there with doing all the research and investigation of this product. In no time, the interface was purchased and the installation appointments set. Installation: Will Gates provided impeccable installation of the interface into the existing DSC alarm panel, connecting to all 21 wired and wireless zones. All zones read exactly like the original installation. You would never know this new interface was not part of the originally installed system. Programming: Lorena Peer, after downloading the app from the Canadian company website, was meticulous in programming the entire alarm panel to this new app which showed all 21 zones with the ability to arm and disarm the alarm, check all monitored zones, and receive notifications of all alarm activities on my mobile devices any place around the world. User/me: This is exactly what I was looking and meets the needs for a functional alarm system that saved me almost 3K if I had followed a few alarm companies suggestions that I would need to replace the entire system for what this interface was able to do for my existing alarm system.
