Update: After such a wonderful experience, we decided to have AvidWorks install smart door locks, externals cameras, and 3 Rachio irrigation controllers. Everything he installed is working reliably and as promised by Will and the vendors. As before, he arrived early and stayed late into the evening to ensure that everything was working. This was a testament to his commitment to his customers considering we had many problems with our irrigation system that he fixed even though the problems had nothing to do with the Rachio controllers. We also received several defective products and he worked tirelessly on his own time with the vendor to identify and resolve the problems before returning to install at our house. I had a great experience with Will Gates. He installed a nest thermostat for my home. He took the time to test each heating and air condition. He showed my husband I how to use the app properly too. I highly recommend him. I happen to get a bed from Ikea delivered for my daughter. I casually asked him if would be interested in setting it up. I have put together IKEA projects before and they can be a pain. Will said he was up for the task. The next day I hired him to put together my daughter' bed. 15 boxes later... my daughter has a nice bunk bed. He is such a nice person. I recently completed a very large remodel of my home, which took 14 months with lots of Covid-related delays. Avidworks installed a Nest security system including a doorbell, 4 indoor cameras, 4 outdoor cameras, 2 Yale Nest door locks, a Nest Guard with motion detectors and 8 smoke detectors. From the first meeting with Lorena and Will to the final execution of our plan, it took 15 months, and they were absolutely fantastic the whole way through. Lorena could not be more communicative, friendly, and detail-oriented. Every question I had was researched and thoughtfully explained. The installation took 2 days, and Will spent a good deal of time and effort finding the most aesthetically pleasing way to mount everything. The thing I most appreciated about working with both of them is how well they listened. I had very specific and slightly different objectives than most people, and they listened to my concerns and helped me brainstorm solutions. When I decided not to install one piece of equipment that Lorena had spent a good amount of time researching, I told her I wanted to pay her for her time, since my decision had nothing to do with the work she had done, and it seemed fair to compensate her. She refused my offer and told me she would only accept payment when a piece of equipment was actually installed. Exceedingly gracious and a sign of just how ethical and motivated they are to make their customers happy. A word about cost - there's a good amount of time spent planning, researching and advising on a system compared to the actual time spent installing. I felt their quote was straightforward and completely reasonable, and it captured the real cost of the work it takes to deliver an installation that will make a customer happy. I would rather pay a bit more to get a well-thought out system by people who care about the details. And their system ended up being far less and easier to manage than the security system companies I had out to quote i.e. Bay Alarm. read more

I couldn't be happier with AvidWorks, and particularly their technician, Will.  He saved the day! We purchased the Ecobee3 Lite and after following their instructions, were unable to get it to work.  I had to call an HVAC specialist who told me the Ecobee3Lite wasn't able to work in our space and ended up selling us some other thermostat we didn't want. Most of the time I like to install things myself. With Youtube tutorials it seems like you can pretty much do anything. But when I opened the Nest Doorbell box and read the instructions and looked at my electrical wiring I realized very quickly that nope I need to hire somebody. And THANK GOD I hired Avidworks. Will came out to install our doorbell and it was clear that this was the right choice. He installed it quickly and while I could see the work was simple it was because he had the right tools and tons of experience. I don't own a drill that can drill into concrete. I don't own the equipment to check if I have the right voltage. Will had everything along with the expertise of how to angle the camera in the right place, how to get your settings exactly right for notifications, and every little nuance an OCD person like me would go through.
