I hired Smart Choice Cleaning for a move-in cleaning in February and scheduled an in-home inspection with Carolina to receive an accurate estimate. During the inspection, I specifically pointed out areas that needed attention, including the ones shown in the attached photos. When the cleaning team arrived two days later, I reiterated these same requests to ensure they were addressed. However, after the cleaners left, it was clear that many of the specified areas had not been cleaned, including the ones in the attached photos (taken post-service). Additionally, the dust inside the kitchen cabinets, which I also had highlighted, remained untouched. I reached out via email but received no response, prompting me to follow up with a phone call. While they offered to re-clean the space, I was disappointed with the overall service and instead requested a partial refund. They refunded $50 of the $240 I paid... Unfortunately, my experience with Smart Choice Cleaning fell far below expectations. Not only was the cleaning service inadequate, but their customer service response was also unsatisfactory. I would not use their services again. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Update: They called me in April and asked me to change my review and they would issue an additional $50 refund due to my dissatisfaction with their service. They were quite rude on the phone when I tried to cancel on them due to them repeatedly delaying their arrival time. I knew the Smart Choice Cleaning employee and my other appointment would have overlapping appointments in my home due to SCC's constant delays. So, I tried to cancel, but they said they would only give me 50% back of what I paid for. After negotiations between both parties, I went ahead and let them arrive super late (overlapping with my other appointment). Their employee (separate from the people I spoke to on the phone) parked their business vehicle in a way that would block the other person's car, and he didn't tell the other person about it. As this employee cleaned my carpets, the other person finished up their work on my walls and prepared to leave. When this person saw that their car was blocked from leaving my driveway, they asked the SCC employee to move their car. The SCC employee replied that they cannot do so mid work since his cleaning tools are connected to his vehicle. He stated the work needed to be done first. The other person explained that he should've let her know he wouldn't be able to move his vehicle BEFORE he started the work since he ran that chance of blocking her car in when she'd need to leave. If only SCC arrived at the time they said they'd arrive, or didn't repeatedly push their appointment back... He had a MAJOR attitude and it didn't sit well with me. He snapped at her, then at me. I told him next time he does this work, it would help to let others know if he'll be blocking people's vehicles so they can move their own vehicles accordingly if they need to leave during his work. He said, "I'm just doing my job!" That is correct; however, a courtesy heads up would have been appreciated, especially given that SCC knew someone would be arriving at my house to do some work before they got there. SCC offered me a $25 discount to make up for the delays and spoke to this SCC employee at my home after I called them to complain about his attitude (he rose his voice at us). After my complaint, he calmed down a bit and eventually moved his vehicle before completing his work. I do not recommend them due to their combined customer service on the phone and in person. The best I can do for them is give them 3 stars after all things considered. read more

Post-Renovation Cleaning & Move-Out Cleaning Many cleaners will post a laundry list of services they offer, including post-renovation cleaning, but this company REALLY does specialize in it and knows how to do it well. Spoke with Xiomara, who was engaged, responsive, and professional, when I called to inquire about service and obtain a quote. When I called subsequently to schedule she worked hard to accommodate my timing. Had a pre-estimate walk through with Caroline. She was knowledgeable and therefore thorough, asking important questions about windows, appliances, and our unfinished basement. Because she knew her business, the estimate was accurate both in terms of time and cost. The cleaning crew showed up in the agreed time frame and did an excellent job, vacuuming, then wiping down every surface, including light fixtures and high ledges. If you've ever had large amounts of drywall sanding done, you know how challenging it can be to get your house clean, but the crew removed every evidence of the work. I also had the company do my move-out cleaning when we left our rental once the renovation was complete. Different crew, same positive experience. Smart Choice may cost a little more, but the quality and service are well worth it. read more

The townhouse unit was empty, and they arrived just after the 2pm arrival time. The whole process from scheduling to paying them 3 days later was a smooth transaction. I would highly recommend anyone to use their services, should it be a regular cleaning or move out. I tired "Merry Maids" and "The Maids" and while the cost was comparable and services provided were similar I didn't get as good of quality. I live in a town home and pay $140/cleaning with my signed contract. The initial one time cleaning was $200. Again, this is similar to most other companies. What I do like about Smart Choice is they bring all their own supplies however, there are some special cleaning supplies I like and I leave those out where necessary. But not only do they vacuum EVERYWHERE, but mop hard wood and tile, dust and clean the exterior of all appliances (interior when requested), clean bathrooms top to bottom, and clean glass doors and windows but they take out their garbage, fold my toilet paper/paper towels in pretty designs (lol). In addition, they've made the bed when I've stripped it and left the sheets for them, same with bathroom towels. They do a lot of work. My town home is 3 levels with a finished basement and 2 full and 2 half bathroom and about 2200 sqft. They send three girls and they get it done in generally 2 hours, unless I ask for additional cleaning. They clean all 3 floors with each visit. I sometimes leave them notes to clean inbetween seat cushions, or spend extra time scrubbing tub, or clean window ledges and they do it all. I had one issue where they knocked the shower door out of the track and within an hour of them leaving their repair guy was there fixing it. I mean talk about service! We have not had any problems with theft. I generally leave a lock box on the door for them to come while I run errands. But there are times when I am there and I just go to a different room with our dog. Updated on12/16/2013 - We left Smart Choice because the track in our shower was bent three times from the maids stepping on the frame. While it was fixed each time we needed someone who cared as much about our property as their own. I was given a gift certificate for Smart Choice Cleaning as a birthday present. I needed my 1400 sf home "deep" cleaned to get it ready to sell; I was told by two different people on the phone that my $250 certificate would be more than enough to cover the cost. When the three-person team showed up, they spent the first 15 minutes of time arguing that they wouldn't be able to adequately clean the home the allotted time and I would have to pay extra to cover any time they spent after 2.5 hours. I wasn't happy about this, but agreed to it. They actually took less than 2.5 hours to finish the house and packed all their equipment into the car before asking me if I was happy with the service. At this point it was after dark (they had been late showing up) and I couldn't see as well as I normally could. I walked through and gave everything a rudimentary look and said it looked decent. I couldn't see how this "move-out" cleaning was different than a regular cleaning, but I don't like arguing with people or challenging them and I figured these were the cleaning experts and they wouldn't do a half-ass job. I noticed little things, like that they hadn't dusted under things or the bottom shelves of things over the next day, but then I left town for three weeks. When I got back and started packing everything up to move, I noticed just how bad they did. Nothing had been moved when they dusted, it looked like they had just swept dust under my rugs, and there were dead bugs and dust all over my window sills. I called the manager, who told me that things get dirty over a few weeks and that I should read the reviews on yelp. I'm sorry, but I know how dirty my house gets in a month and this was way more than that. Even my realtor and stager asked when the cleaners were coming (after Smart Choice cleaned) and that was only a week after the cleaning. I usually pay $110 for a regular house cleaning and they do a better job than these people. I do not recommend their services and suggest they work on their customer service instead of arguing with people that complain. read more

They kind of clean... We are about to drop their service because I don't think they do a good job. When I come home after someone cleaned my house I expect it to smell clean. Never happens. They always seem like they are in a rush and miss places. We have trash cans on the back of our toilets because we have dogs that like to go through the garbage if there's any in there. Every time they come the garbage cans are back on the floor where they don't belong. This last time was the straw that broke the camel's back. Forget the house not smelling clean, us telling them they missed a whole section of flooring when they mop, but they put food in our recyclables. YES FOOD in the recyclables. Meaning after the maids came we had to dig through the garbage and separate our cans and bottles. Not only that they didn't put the bag with the food (and recyclables) in the garbage can with the lid, they left it on the side of the road so that animals could get into it. We did find the neighborhood dog in our trash eating the FOOD. We have spoken with other people who get better rates than what they offer. Maybe if they had moved the furniture or worked a miracle and got those wine stains out I would have given it 5 stars right off the bat. A few weeks prior she hosted a party in their basement and a lady took a tumble down the stairs, spilling red wine ALL over their walls and carpet. While it was only a glass, it looked as if someone had chucked three bottles everywhere. My mother sweetly asked me to scrub her walls (heloise hint here, bleach and water will take wine stains off your interior paint. and give you a killer tricep workout) and find her someone to clean the carpet. How can you say no to your moms? So I called, got a great quote THAT day (none of the "leave a message we'll call you back" bs) seriously, it was an EXTREMELY reasonable price. I mentioned the yelp deal and they told me they'd honor the price (no need to buy it) so that was also a plus. They came as planned did their work and left. My mom said she was extremely happy. The basement smelled awesome afterwards. The wine stains looked much bigger after they left, only because the rest of the carpet was clean, I never knew how dirty the carpet was! They use the machine that is attached to the van which is a must, after all anyone can go and rent a carpet cleaner from the teeter, amirite? Big mouth strikes again. I had discussed some wine stains on the carpet with John (the manager/owner/or some sort of top dog at SCC) and he obviously couldn't promise the stains would come out but that they'd have to give an estimate for that once on site. Mom failed to mention this part, so when they came out, they tried to get the stains out, but were unable to and didn't charge her for the service. I overheard on the phone trying to get them to come back out (sounding frustrated) so I took over and got a lil snippy with John only to learn that he was coming back out for FREE to give it another go. Excellent service! My daughter rubbed vasoline into the carpet and after my "self" care I was left with a mess. I called Smart Choice because I had used them before in my home and office and was very happy with their service. Honestly when I called the stain was so awful i didn't have faith much could be done to restore the carpet. Smart Choice easily accommodated my request for a scheduled cleaning. The tech sent was professional and courteous. They did a great job!!!! You would never even know that the carpet was covered in grease. Subsequently, I have also had them treat my favorite love seat which my cats mistook as a litter box :(. They cleaned the piece and you can't even smell a hint of urine. Trust me, my nose knows!!! I wish I would have scheduled more time! The cleaners were wonderful, prompt and VERY GOOD at what I needed them to clean. I asked that they clean the upstairs (4BR and 2BA) and the windows. They knew they wouldn't be able to do all the downstairs AND the windows and they told me. When I got back the upstairs (and windows) were very clean and smelled great. The downstairs (kitchen, two sitting rooms and a big living room) was clean but true to their word, they were not able to clean the windows which is what I expected. So far so good with Smart Choice. I purchased a Yelp deal 6 or so months ago and didn't realize when I booked I had to use it all in one visit. Despite not realizing this (nor did the customer service rep), the owner, who came by to clean my sofa himself (!!) did an excellent job and assured me that they would return for my move-out cleaning scheduled in a few weeks. He also threw in a free deodorizer for the sofa to cancel out all the puppy smells. Will update again after the move out cleaning, but so far customer service has been great! UPDATE: Did a fabulous job with my move out cleaning! Three ladies for 2.5 hours did all the windows in my place (no small task), floors, baseboards, kitchen, two baths, dining room, living room, den, office, three large closets, wood burning fireplace and a bedroom. I recently used this company to clean my sofa which had several stains on it and I'm very happy with the result. The 2-person staff arrived called me ahead of time to expect their arrival, arrived on time and were professional and courteous. Since this is during the Covid-19 pandemic they wore masks the entire time and respected distancing. And they did a fantastic job on the sofa - all stains are gone and it looks like new. I hired them to for both carpet cleaning and move in cleaning. The carpet cleaning was good. They explained to me what was done and which stain cannot be removed. The carpet smells much fresher afterward. The move in cleaning was not so great. Good things first...they dusted the blinds, cleaned the toilet, refrigerator, oven and sink. The floor was swept and mopped. The previous tenant probably didn't clean at all so it is understandable that even after mopping my bare feet still turn black walking on tiled floor. At walk through inspection they showed me that they even clean the drawers in bathroom and wipe closet shelves. However after they left I tried to put shelf liner in kitchen cabinets, they were not wipe at all. Dried rice and spaghetti were in drawers and cabinets. Maybe that's not covered in move in package. But they did mentioned baseboard and cobwebs cleaning over the phone but I found that I have to wipe off webs from baseboards and ceilings. I was happy about carpet. And I guess the house is 50% cleaner than before. But I guess I could hire someone for a day at the same price and they can use my cleaning supplies and I might be happier. read more

The absolute worst worst carpet cleaning company I've ever known to exist. I would never be evil enough to recommend your company to anyone ever!!!!! Your company employees who attempted to clean the carpet in my home, added big blue spots to the carpet in every bedroom that were not there previously, which was proven by photos taken before the cleaning. Also, blackened streaks were added across the carpet in the master bedroom that were not there before, which was also proven by photos taken before the cleaning. I was initially going to be charged for a replacement carpet by my landlord due to your company's horrendous and destructive performance. Luckily after showing the landlord photo proof he changed his mind about charging me. I paid $284 for the worst cleaning I've ever seen. My advice to you is to hire employees that care and will do the work efficiently as your advertising suggest. read more
