I live in Denver, CO so this is a review of Small Dog's online/mail order operation. Excellent service. Before and after the sale. I have purchased 3 Macs from Small Dog and am completely satisfied. But, the true test of a company is when something goes wrong. I ordered a brand new iMac and someone's fingers slipped and the wrong computer was shipped to me. The two machines were almost identical, but not quite. These things happen. I called my sales rep and he said: "My fault. We will overnight a new iMac to you." They did. It arrived 26 hours later. They also included a return label and UPS will pick up the wrong iMac this afternoon. This is great customer service. read more

The representative who I dealt with gave me issues regarding what I had requested. I had been having issues with my battery on iPhone 8 and had set up an appointment to have battery replaced. Was told it could not be replaced because the battery life percentage wasn't less than 80%. Spent approximately 10 minutes going back and forth trying to get it replaced after advising the battery seemed defective and regardless if it was about 80% battery health (it was 86% battery health) I was still paying full price for the service and battery. Representative put more effort into trying to NOT fix my device than she would have if she would have just taken it and fixed it, per what was requested and paid for. Sad that this is the only authorized Apple Store in our small area. From what I have read on past reviews, the customer service is horrible. And my experience was the same. Save the headache, mail your stuff somewhere else for repairs/replacements. read more

I went here because my MacBook wasn't turning on. They tried a few chargers that didn't work, then finally took it to the back to do a diagnostic. When they hooked it up, my computer popped on! It literally took five minutes so they didn't charge me anything. They also offered me advice about what may have happened (severe cold impacts on my battery). Thank you to the SmallDog team. This business forces you to cancel your order by demanding sensitive personal information (your driver's license, utility bill, etc.) because "you have never purchased from us". Which is utterly ridiculous - why on earth would I need to share that to buy a laptop? Who at Small Dogs can guarantee that my personal info won't be leaked to an identity theft? read more

I had a terrible experience with Small Dog today, while trying to get a replacement for recalled World Travel Adapter Kit adapters. I had previously been in contact with Apple on the phone about this, and asked if they could do it via mail since I live about an hour from any authorized Apple provider (and even further from a legit Apple store). But unfortunately I was told that no, it wasn't possible. I was advised to go to Small Dog with the adapters and they would know right away what to do. Thinking ahead, I printed out the recall notice and took it with me just in case. When I arrived at Small Dog, the first thing I was told was that it can't be serviced today, I have to come back on a weekday (their hours don't say this) I explained that it was a replacement for recalled parts, and that no actual work had to be done. They finally let me talk to Brian in the service department who was polite, but not particularly helpful as will be seen below. Brian went to the back and checked with a tech (but techs are only in on weekdays, remember) and came back with the printed recall and some highlighted marks on it, saying I'd have to go directly to Apple. Then I asked if they're an authorized retailer with Apple (which I knew they are since Apple themselves sent me to Small Dog) to which Brian said yes, so I pointed out in the recall sheet it says authorized providers are supposed to handle the replacement. Brian went to check with the tech again, and came back saying that they can accept the recalled parts and check into it on Monday, or I can get in touch with Apple again and explore other options. So I called Apple back and explained the situation, that I had followed Apple's instructions and the store was refusing to help (I had been promised a quick swap on the spot). Ken, the wonderful senior Apple advisor who took my call, asked if they had the replacement in stock. I checked and when I saw they did, Ken asked to speak to Brian. Ken asked Brian if they can take a "CS code" and Brian said yes, but then when Ken said he would generate the code Brian said that only a tech can do it and that they'd have to wait until Monday. I asked if the tech Brian had just talked to a few minutes ago could do it and Brian said he had just walked out of the store (I turned around and saw the tech standing in the front of the store before he went back into the back). Then another employee went to the back for a minute, came back and said he had spoken with the tech and that even with the CS code they couldn't give me store inventory, they'd have to have Apple ship out a brand new one as replacement. No idea why that isn't possible, as the items are one and the same -- why not have Apple send the replacement and put that one on the floor after giving me the store inventory? Either way, it was one excuse after another as to why they couldn't do it. Thankfully Ken, being a senior advisor, decided to just send me a new adapter kit for free because Small Dog wouldn't cooperate with either of us. I wish the first Apple advisor I spoke with last week had been able to do that, but I understand he wasn't a senior advisor and of course he couldn't expect Small Dog to be so unwilling to help since they are an Apple Authorized Service Center. To sum things up, I was told: We can do it Monday Only Apple can do it Oh we CAN do it, but not until Monday There's a tech in the back We take CS Codes We don't take CS Codes TODAY because there isn't a tech here There's no longer a tech in the store (he was still in the store! 20-30 feet away) There IS a tech in the store after all (duhhhh?) The tech wont process the CS code today even though he's here because we can't give you the replacement item we have in stock Long story short, lots of inconsistencies and, if not outright lies, very poor handling of the situation. This is NOT something I would expect from an Apple authorized retailer, it's run like some back alley joke of a repair shop. I do want to reiterate, Brian and the other employees were polite, but that doesn't change the fact that they were literally trying to find every excuse NOT to help, and may well have been lying about some things like the tech having left, unless they were so nearsighted they can't see 30 feet to the other side of their showroom. This isn't the first bad experience my family has had with Small Dog but it's certainly the last, I'm never going to them again. Even if Apple says I have to take it to a store I will escalate or worst case scenario make a day trip to the nearest Apple store to get things PROPERLY taken care of. read more

bought a new iPad and was made to feel stupid because I asked salesman to transfer my material from my old to new ipad. he refused to do it in the store. They sold me in ipad on the website .. they canceled my order and never informed me. then when I called them 8 days later I was told they needed a copy/pic of my state issued I'd and a copy / pic of a utility from me also in Oder to make the purchase.. I did so .. only to receive email saying canceled order again and now the ipad is not Ava and was sold over the weekend .. I did my first Oder on 12/31/23 .. so they basically waisted my time and money .. Not pleased to give a local small business such a poor review, but I feel compelled to share the poor customer service and personal attacks I received during my service appointment today (06/09/21) at Small Dog. I scheduled a service appointment through Apple's website for Small Dog. I have never used an Apple Authorized Service Provider before. I have had wonderful customer service from the Apple Genius Bar in NYC, Los Angeles, Denver, and San Francisco. I was hoping for a similar level of support from Small Dog. The Small Dog employee, Justin, was unhelpful, condescending, and rude. He accused me multiple times of breaking my own keyboard. When I gently pushed back that this wasn't possible, he said it could have been someone else in my house. I told him that my computer is in a home office where I live alone, and I had not damaged my equipment. He rolled his eyes and mentioned that this "other person" must have done it then. It felt like his behavior came out of nowhere. I was completely taken aback, and I didn't push things but left instead. I'm used to Apple's Genius Bar service, where they may not do exactly as I ask, but they offer possible solutions in a clear fashion and then let me decide based on the options. I asked Justin what were my other options, and he dismissively said I could buy a keyboard anywhere I liked. Completely unhelpful. I left with such a bad taste in my mouth from my experience at Small Dog that I decided to chat with Apple's customer service following my appointment. Come to find out there are other options! The Apple representative offered to send me a new replacement keyboard the same day. What a relief! I thought maybe Justin was a bad apple or was having a bad day, but I checked Yelp, and, unfortunately, there are numerous negative service reviews for Small Dog. It seems to be a pattern. When I seek service, I'm looking for solutions and options, not accusations and eye rolls. I think Apple gets this, but Small Dog does not. If you're still reading, I would recommend chatting or calling Apple with any service questions if you experience rude or unhelpful service at Small Dog. I give them a 3 due to their expertise shared freely (on not very deep topics) but a -3 on their willingness to help their customers. Over the years, I've purchased 3 macbooks from these guys, probably $10K in just macbooks. In fact I just purchased a brand new M2 16" macbook pro as my prior one took a good spill and screen and touchpad are cracked.. but still runs with separate screen. In any case I was looking for a repair estimate on the 2019 macbook. They charged me $65.00 to tell me that with mutliple major items, it needs to be sent back to Apple for $1300 flat fee, and Apple will decide what else needs fixing. So from my perspective, I didn't get much for my $65! First strike is the guy at the desk could have told me this and saved me a second trip. Second strike is that I asked if they would retrieve 2 files that I didn't have backed up.. They said that'll cost me $100. The macbook runs fine, keyboard works, even the touch screen works although it's cracked. I asked if they'd consider just charging me a small feel for the 2 files.. nope, no way. So I drove back in, picked it up, and once home it took me all of 5 minutes to get the files I need. I will likely replace the screen and touchpad myself for $500 total. I do understand that people need to be paid for their work, but I also like to think that those we give our business to can be more than 'minimally' helpful and provide some personal service. Not here! If you're looking for a local business that cares about relationships, look elsewhere!! They do carry lots of mac stuff so if you need something fast it's a good bet they'll have it, otherwise, not a lot different from bestbuy! read more

Perhaps they are knowledgeable, but the level of condescension and disdain they had for the customer was difficult to transverse. I scheduled an appointment for an upgrade after many email discussions with the team. When I arrived, they said the appointment was for drop off, they did not have the necessary RAM to make the upgrades, despite the prior conversations with the teams, and that they had no firm timeline, because many machines were in front of me. Had I known, I could have made other arrangements, but learning, at the desk, that they had to order parts, then being told that "this is Vermont, everyone has to drive" was over the top. I am happy to not give them business, ever. read more

I've gone here twice for tech support. The first time I was charged $85 and was told there was nothing wrong with my Mac which did not fit with the reality that it was taking forever to wake up and even longer to become active upon waking up. The second time I was reasonably sure my Mac needed a new track pad. I was told they couldn't take me for 2 weeks, that it would cost me $65 (I think) for them to diagnose it, and several days for them to mail it out to get fixed/tell me how much it would cost to fix. What confused me was they gave me an appointment to do this (two weeks out) even though it seemed to me that I was just dropping my computer off to be mailed out and paying them $65 to do so. When I asked about this I was told they like to know when customers are coming into the store. I guess if you plan to buy something here call ahead and hope they can squeeze you in. There are a lot of area businesses that can work on Apple products. Don't be fooled into thinking this is the only place and tolerate this kind of service. I found a person who fixed my track pad with genuine Apple parts, in the store in about an hour, for under $75, and didn't require an appointment. I will say Small Dog does seem to have the elitist, smug attitude present in Apple as a company. read more

This review is for Noah. My parents live in Vermont and I live out of state. My dad locked himself out of his iPad because of dementia and I was so frustrated about how to undo this. I made an appointment with Noah at small dog electronics and my mom brought the iPad over to seek assistance. Noah was super friendly and helpful and was able to restore my dad's iPad within a couple of hours and even helped with reversing some settings on his iPhone to extend battery life! I brought my MacBook here to fix my missing space bar on Friday at noon. i paid a fee of 65$ named "deposit for repair". They called me back at 4:00 (when they closed) to tell me this issue would be 458$ to repair...I called back immediately to see if I could pick it up and nope. They were closed because they didn't call until 4:00. This left me without my computer for the weekend. Today when I went to pick it up, I requested the 65$ be refunded because it's a "deposit for repair" and no repairs were made, it also doesn't say anywhere in the paperwork that this fee is non refundable. They told me this was a tech fee for out of warranty laptops. I also never signed anything. Due to the pandemic, I paid with a card over the phone and my payment was approved without a signature. 65$ later, my laptop is still broken. I will never bring another product here. read more

What a rip-off operation. Even when you know what your computer needs for a repair, they will charge you a diagnostic fee. This is required no matter what they do or if you know exactly what you need or want performed. Two different people tried to, unsuccessfully, in conflict with one another, and in a condescending manner, explain the rationale for this. They then wanted to charge significantly more than anyone else in town for the same repair, to the tune of hundreds of dollars more (I called multiple ones - all with better customer reviews and ratings on multiple platforms), and in this case, well over twice as much as Apple's mail in service to literally do the same repair!!! And from what they told me, any of these other options, including Apple's mail-in service, is likely to take less time than leaving it with Small Dog!! Don't let the fact that they're an Apple authorized repair shop fool you into needlessly throwing money out the window. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are multiple repair shops in Burlington that will properly fix your computer for a fraction of the price, without extorting an unnecessary or exorbitant diagnostic charge, without the attitude, and without charging you hundreds of dollars more than what your repair should cost! read more

The service manager, maybe even the store manager, is hostile and unhelpful to say the least. I've never had a more unpleasant experience with a customer service representative than here. It is unfortunate she is the leader of and responsible for other people within this business. Maybe that's why poor customer service seems to be a theme here... The camera on my phone suddenly ceased working so I took my iPhone to Small Dog to hopefully get a replacement phone overnight. To get a new phone, the employees stated there was a charge of $500 to get a loaner phone (regardless of how long you may have it), and although this money would be reimbursed upon returning the phone, it seems ridiculous especially because the phone I was given does not work properly. I spent three hours in the store trying to get all of my information to transfer to the loaner phone, and upon all of my information transferring, I began to use the phone. Almost immediately, the phone crashed several times in a row and is barely useable now. I cannot send texts, call or access my student ID card to get meals and into my dorm building. Furthermore, while I was waiting for the transfer to complete, the employees suggested several times that I leave the store and continue the transfer at home. While this suggestion may be reasonable to some folks, I am a college student without a car, and I could not access transportation services or directions during the three hours that my phone was being updated. The suggestion to leave being made several times seemed inappropriate and rude considering I had stated this information to them multiple times. The manager is also incredibly rude to customers based on what I heard while waiting there. I am waiting to go pick up my new phone today and I hope I have a better experience. However, based on the past interactions I've had here, I can confidently say I will not be returning and I do not recommend it to other customers. read more

After one of their employees told me they had initiated the repair, someone called me three days later -now a full week after they received my machine- to tell me that the repair had never even been initiated. They refused to work with me in resolving the issue, offering only a 50% discount on something I had already been quoted was going to be free. Very disappointed. I recently brought a MacBook to Small Dog for service. The computer LCD screen was not working correctly. I was able to self-diagnose the problem, isolating it as a problem with the LCD backlight. The screen would flash on, then go dark after a split second. I searched a number of websites and found out that there were three or four likely potential problems. I dropped my laptop off and explained what I found and asked them to figure out where the issue was, let me know what the fix was, and how much it would cost before I made a decision to fix or replace. Two days later I got a call from the technician. He claimed the LCD was broken. He specifically said the backlight on the LCD was broken. It would cost $400-$450 to repair. They suggest I just replace the computer instead. I elected to not have it fixed. I ended up purchasing factory refurbished Air directly from Apple. After a mixup with the time my laptop would be ready I picked it up 5 days after I dropped it off. When I got home, the screen would flash on, and actually stay on for a couple of seconds before going dark. This was an improvement and suggested to me that the LCD backlight was actually functional but the issue was somewhere else. I called the tech department and talked to them about this change. The tech claimed that they replaced a part as a test, found it was not the LCD inverter (one of the potential issued my search illuminated) and they settled on the actual LCD as the problem. The tech claimed that the circuit was likely failing as a result of heat. I questioned this because the computer was cold when I restarted it and it took a few seconds before going black. The tech said it was still the LCD, or now, potentially the logic board (again, both potential issues I found). He intimated that my recent information was unessential and that I really didn't understand how the LCD system worked. I decided to continue my own self-diagnosis. After searching I found that this could also be caused by the System Management Control settings, or SMC. I found out how to reset them, a very simple and quick test. Much to my surprise this completely solved the issue. Here's my beef: I do not think the tech who worked on my computer, or the tech I talked to on the phone even attempted this. I think they decided to test the most complex option, and then settled on the most expensive fix, or a fix that would make purchasing a new machine more likely. As techs, their diagnosis skills are horrible. They didn't check all the potential solutions to the problem. They appear to have completely ignored the simplest fixes (if they had tried an SMC reset the would have solved the problem). What's more, when I called and questioned their diagnosis, they doubled-down and suggested I didn't know what I was talking about. To their credit, because of the mix up on the time the laptop would be ready, they waived the $49 diagnosis fee (although knowing what I know now, they didn't even diagnose the problem). I like Apple products and the staff and Small Dog is always friendly. I do not think they offer very good or even adequate service. It's ironic because Apple as a company has the best service available. Small Dog fails to live up to the standard their corporate partner sets. read more

This review is solely based on my email inquiry for computer repair. I have not purchased their service and a portion of the reason is because of this exchange. I have an older machine, which they cannot work on, and that's another reason I have not (cannot) purchased their service. I approached Small Dog because my computer is fairly old, but still functioning quite well. I've recently had some issues with my video dropping out and images locking up on my screen. Only once I had an "Orange Screen Of Death" on my Mac. After doing some initial research to narrow the issue, all fixes pointed to a failing graphics card. I approached them to determine costs to fix this issue specifically, but to also take a look at refurbishing my machine. In my initial email I mentioned I needed some keys on my keyboard replaced because they were worn out (but still functioning), hinges on my clamshell replaced, the fans and heatsync inspected and cleaned and the mention of the video issues. In general, a refurbish wherever appropriate. The response back was interesting: I'd need a new hard drive, motherboard, LCD screen and keyboard... After several email exchanges it was determined that they wouldn't work on it because of the age of my computer. That's a satisfactory response, however, I'd steer clear if you feel like you're about to be taken advantage of here. It seems their first assumption when dealing with customers is that the customer has no idea what their doing and I can't trust Small Dog won't take advantage of that given their initial response. Ok, so I'm from northern VA, where there is about 4 Apple stores, so when I was on vacation in Charlotte, VT, the only place where I could take my sick Macbook Pro was Small Dog Electronics. Everyone was friendly enough, but then I got the diagnosis (after a $65 diagnostic fee)... DEAD logic board. They offered to send it away to be fixed for an additional $599 dollars. WOW!!! I flipped out. I run a review site that I had planned on maintaining throughout my stay in VT, but at that cost, I just shelved my computer until I got back home. So yesterday, I took it to my local Apple Store and they laughed right when they started the computer. They ran some diagnostics in front of me then asked me what on Earth Small Dog had done for their $65 diagnostic. I had no idea as it was never explained to me in detail. Well, the Apple tech decided to open up the computer to see if they messed anything up. They hadn't thankfully, but they did forget to replace several of the screws to the body that Apple was kind enough to replace. They urged me to call Small Dog and complain, but I figured this would be a better place to complain as it shows others what kind of inexperience they might encounter if they take their Macs here. read more

I wanted to like this store so badly. I prefer to buy from local independent companies when possible, but these guys were terrible. I ended up going to Best Buy instead and even more sadly got great service there. So my journey in store failure started with the attempt to buy an iPad. So I checked there website which said they had them in stock. Since it was near Christmas I decided to call and double check. The girl on the phone said of course we do come on in and pick it up. I arrive at the store to be told that they are out of all iPads except the most expensive model. I told them about the website and phone call and they were beyond rude to me saying that if I wanted an iPad in time for Christmas the most expensive model was how I was going to have to do it. It was disgusting to bait and switched like that and then to have the staff be so in my face about it. Have taken my Macbook Pro (Mid-2012 15") in for repairs twice now. SmallDog previously handled these mail-in repairs smoothly and efficiently. I drove to the Burlington location yesterday to initiate another mail-in repair order and learned from their service technician that they are at "capacity" and not handling any further repairs. I clarified that this would be a mail-in repair to Apple and he reiterated that they were at capacity and not handling any further repairs. This is mystifying to me. Now have to handle the repair through Apple directly which will add several days to the repair turnaround time. read more

BEWARE of this place! If I could go back in time, I would never have set foot in this store. I have regretted it every single day since I made that bad decision. My computer was acting up in July. It would turn on, but it would be excruciatingly slow, and I knew it needed to be looked at. I considered driving two hours to the nearest Apple Store, and now I wished I did. Instead I decided to try this place out. As expected, there was something wrong with my Mac Book Pro. It took Small Dog 3 weeks to diagnose my problem and tell me that my hard drive needed to be replaced. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that students were going back to school and that service was slow. That said, the real Apple Store has never made me wait more than a few days. When Small Dog finally gave me a quote for the work, the cost was high. $600 total. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go through with it. At that point, you're wondering if you should just buy a new computer. I asked the repair guy what he thought. He said, "I'd spend the money. Once you get this new hard drive, it will be just like a new computer." So I went ahead and did it. Fast forward three more weeks. I'm at home and trying to type on my computer and THE KEYS DON'T WORK! I can't type anything. I have no idea why this is happening so I take the thing back to Small Dog. The guy at the counter looks at it and says, "Your whole key pad is dead. It will be $411 to replace." I think I must have misheard him. Surely if this has happened within 30 days of their repair, there is a good chance this error was related to their work. "Nope," the guy insists, "this definitely wasn't caused by our work." I don't believe this one bit. They took my whole computer apart when they had it for three weeks and less than 30 days later the whole keyboard stops functioning. What about their statement that after spending $600 the computer would "be as good as new!"? The people that I interacted with were dismissive, unapologetic, and accusatory. On an unrelated note, they also overcharged me by over $100 which I noticed when the charge showed up on my credit statement (this issue was resolved but the whole situation makes me think this place is running several scams). As for me, I'm stuck with a computer I've spent over $600 on which doesn't have a functioning keypad. I've regretted ever setting foot in this place every day since, and I would caution anyone before ever dealing with this store. The drive to a real Apple store is well worth the hassle. read more

I lived in burlington for 5 years and have bought a macbook and an ipod from this location as well as several accessories. I also had my macbook repaired when the hard drive crashed last year. I love this store and have always had lovely experiences here. The prices are competitive and the employees are very helpful and super patient when you have a million questions. Also, you can't beat the fact that there are always dogs to play with in the store and a wonderful atmosphere. There is plenty of parking and is pretty conveniently located. read more

Initial phone conversation was great, although a bit unsure why I needed to leave my phone for a full day at Small Dog for them to replace the battery? So it did, and one week later I drove my 20 minutes to my 10:45am drop off appointment. The battery which I was told they had in stock for my phone was sold to someone else who walked in. What a waste of my time. 40 minutes round trip wasted because they do not have continuity in their inventory and service. The best they could do was call me back when the item came back in stock. It's been three weeks and they still haven't call me back. Not only are they dysfunctional in the repair/inventory aspect but they lack at follow through with customers. While I was waiting I heard two separate conversations on the sales floor about something being out of stock and the same excuse to different customers of a corporation buying all their inventory... Loads of BS don't go here take your business elsewhere. read more

I went into purchase a laptop and was so turned off by the terrible selection and rude employees (who couldn't stop scowling at their iPads long enough to answer my 1 simple question) that I left. And won't be back. A friend of mine also had a terrible experience when they "fixed" her laptop's hinge (didn't fix it at all!) and charged her. Wow - it saddens me to read so many bashing comments. My experience has been such with them that, aside from having to wait a few days on repairs, they always seem to offer what I think are reasonable solutions to problems, they've kept good on my warrantees, they usually have a couple of repair options to present to me, and they work with the customer to find a happy medium when you get that gut-punching blow of something like 'your logic board is fried.' Two years ago, I left my MacBook Pro outside, on the deck. And it rained. I drained it upside-down for two days, but then brought it in to Small Dog. They kept it tented and drained it more, then they did something very carefully, and brought it back to life. They suggested a full backup because there was no telling, so I paid a little over $200 for the backup and whatever cleaning out they did of the water. They also replaced the keyboard, I think. But this thing still works. And I am so grateful. When you spend $1700 on your Mac, $250 seems a small price to pay. Most recently, I bought a refurb Air from them. I had a bit more of an issue with this - sales went smoothly, but I got the impression it was almost too easy... after being very clear with what I needed the laptop for, I felt OK that the new book could handle my work duties. So I dropped $530 on it. Which should've been a warning right there. Anyway, two or three months later, it's clear the Air is NOT a heavy-lifting machine. I can't keep my company's Twitter feed and story analytics page open simultaneously without everything grinding to a halt. The salesperson didn't suggest this would ever be a problem, or photo editing, yet, lo, I can't do what I need to on the book. Small Dog tried to do right by me, though. I brought it in for a return if they'd allow it, which, being past 90 days, wasn't ok. Instead they were willing to give me a 400 credit for a trade in, which is $75 than their standard trade-in on that model. So - though I wish I got full-price trade in, maybe I can chalk that up to not doing enough research before buying. And every salesperson at the location seemed solution-oriented, and alert, and friendly. Here's hoping they solve some of the other problems I see mentioned on here, because it's too bad there's so much negative feedback. read more

Amazing customer service. I spilled water on my laptop and they were able to give me a rental laptop for ~$100 and my laptop was sent out to Apple and only the screen was replaced. It was returned back to me good as new. Every representative I worked with was kind, patient, and accommodating. Thank you!! read more

Really dissapointed in my experience at smalldog. Rudest staff I have ever experienced, completely condescending and no customer care. Also gave me a quote double of what i was given at another electronic repair store. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

There is a good reason, Jessica W., that Small Dog has attracted so many negative reviews. The company is making money hand-over-fist as Vermont's only licensed Apple reseller, and yet its corporate culture does not put the customer or customer service ahead of its profits. And just like Chris C. says, I too wanted to like the store but after my recent negative experience there is no way that I would ever do business with Small Dog again. Without going into a long rant here (after all, what's the use?) my simple advice is: Never buy a used Mac computer from these people. While Small Dog eventually honored its warranty and gave me back my money, the time I spent and the angst I endured was not worth the trouble. The used MacBook they sold me came with a bad battery and a faulty MagSafe power connector. It arrived with System Preferences locked (despite the fact that a Small Dog tech rudely insisted on the phone that it was my fault, not theirs.) And it did not come with the iLife Suite installed, even though the web advertisement for the exact machine I bought said it would. There were other problems too -- have you ever gotten the "Kernel Panic Warning"; it's shocking! -- but I said "no rant" so I am going to stick with that.
