I needed a single process to cover my greys - I have medium brown hair, no highlights. Should be simple enough. Upon getting in the chair, the stylist mentioned she thought my greys looked resistant, I agreed because I know that my color usually has to sit for a while, but she didn't ask me any questions beyond that. Instead, the she spent most of the time suggesting I should get highlights (which is not unusual when discussing how to add more dimension), but this was after I just explained how I stopped getting highlights a few years back because I didn't like how much it damaged my hair. When it was time to process, she put me under heat, which I have never had done before in the past 6 years of getting this service. I thought it was odd at first, but not knowing anything about hair coloring, assumed it was necessary for the type of product they use at this salon. I was under heat for about 10 minutes which felt far too long as my hairline was starting to sting badly. As soon as we started drying, it seemed like my roots were much lighter than normal, but once fully dry the color looked accurate enough. I don't know if it was the lighting in the salon or what, but it wasn't until I got home that I noticed my roots were so hot and brassy! While I blame myself for not looking more closely at the time, I imagine a Level 6 Stylist would have easily noticed this, yet she didn't say anything about it all and acted like my hair color was matched perfectly. Very disappointing that she never asked about heat being necessary previously for my greys and just assumed to use it, knowing heat during a single process is the fastest way to getting hot roots. Giving 2 stars because the rest of the staff was nice and the blow out was good. Sadly I'm now on the hunt for another new salon.

My hair is very thin and it's hard to make it look like it has volume. She recommended some higher layers, a bit more off the ends to nix the damaged hair, less length off the fringe framing my face, and a bit of a Bardot bang. What came out was absolutely perfect. I'm also a makeup artist on the side, and it's a blessing and a curse, but I have ACUTE attention to detail. When I say I had no feedback at the end of the cut, I mean it. And this never happens. One final thought - I may have been one of the people who was a bit intimidated by this place subconsciously at at first, often peering curiously through the windows as I passed on my way home from work, not knowing if I was "cool" enough. But then I remembered when I used to work at the MAC Cosmetics store. People would come in and right away tell me they didn't want the bright makeup I was wearing, and it finally clicked. As a professional, I would never put that makeup on them if they weren't comfortable as much as the artists here wouldn't give me a style I didn't want. I went to this salon before a friend's wedding and they not only ignored my requests, but they severely damaged my hair. This is the worse hair salon I've ever been to in my life. I came in wanting to touch up my hair. I have naturally dark hair, that was already dyed blonde. So I wanted to get my roots and the color touched up. I showed multiple photos; I wanted a honey blonde. They messed up my hair twice and proceeded to change the plan and re-bleached it, twice. The result was orange, and of course it didn't get better after the second time. I felt too scared to stay there and was embarrassed about my hair color. I just wanted to feel beautiful for a wedding, but now my hair was an awful color and felt like straw. Bella, the stylist who did my hair, was distracted while working on my hair and was simultaneously working on 3-5 other people's hair. So if you come here, you will not get fair attention, which obviously leaves room for error. I absolutely do not trust this salon to uphold their duty of care for their customers. Michael the owner is incredibly rude. I've read the reviews on here and maybe he has been nice when he does hair, but when I made a complaint, instead of providing a refund, he gaslit and yelled at me. The staff did not follow up with me to take any accountability or grant any compensation for the damage I incurred from the salon, which is why I'm writing this strongly worded review. All in all, I know this place has good reviews. Do not come here. The staff is rude and will not deliver what you ask for, while charging you a lot. I'm willing to take this review down if they grant a refund. There's a ton of other salons in dumbo. Don't trust Michael at all.
