I love this place - I've been coming regularly for waxing since 2017 and am yet to have a bad experience. The spa itself is clean but warm and welcoming. I am always able to get a same day appointment so convenience is really off the charts. Upon arrival, I'm brought into a private room within minutes, I've never had to wait long. All their waxers are professional and compassionate about the pain (lol) so I never ask for anyone in particular, though Sabina is excellent. They offer a buy 5 get 1 free deal which is nice. My only note would be you have to tip in cash. They have an ATM in the back but Venmo for tip would be great! read more

THE MOST HORRIFYING AND TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE YET!!!!..........If I could give this place no stars I would! My friend and I made an appointment for 10 am on a sunday morning, we got there pretty early so we just sat there and waited for the esthetician to arrive. Once she got in and settled she then called on one of us to go in and i decided to go first since i've been there before. I proceeded to follow and get undressed like anyone would normally do for a brazilian wax. I then explained to her to be gentle since my second experience there did not go well and the esthetician at that time had TORN MY SKIN and failed to mention it at the time, however I decided to give them ANOTHER chance. The esthetician started the process and decided to do the opposite of what I kindly asked her to do!!! She was rough nonetheless and TORE MY SKIN IN THREE DIFFERENT AREAS and failed to tell me at the moment it was happening, after a while when I felt that my skin was irritated she agreed and I immediately asked for a mirror, she pulled the mirror out and placed it where i'd be able to see, and to my horror she had pulled my skin off on my left side where my bikini line is.......she proceeded to clean it and add an antiseptic spray but wanted to continue clearing out the other stragglers. By this point I was pretty upset and declined any further services and explained to her that this was the second time this has happened and that I had asked her from the be beginning to be gentle. The esthetician began to blame me for not letting her know where my skin was torn off the second time I was there, which wouldn't even matter because I haven't been there in over a year or two since I was still pretty much traumatized from the second experience, my skin was already completely healed by the time this visit was happening. After going back and forth I got dressed and she left the room to call the receptionist, the receptionist then came down and asked what was wrong and I proceeded to explain the issue and even showed her a picture, I asked her if she'd be ok with the service if it were her in which she said "no". The esthetician was still trying to get me to lay down to treat it while I was explaining to the receptionist what happened, I declined any further services to which the receptionist kindly told the esthetician no and I ran out of there with my friend hyperventilating and crying (no my friend did not get any services from them). Luckily enough I work at a medical facility and I ran to them to ask them for advice on how I can treat it since i'm traveling out of state next week. Needless to say I got home after the horrible experience and realize she had torn off skin in two other areas where my stomach was aside from the one I already had on the bikini area. I came in this past weekend to use a Massage Week gift card that I've had for years, but for whatever reason had never used. I searched online for participating salons, and decided to come to Venelle because of the positive reviews and proximity to my apartment. I have to say that the experience overall was quite good from beginning to end. I called to make an appointment for a massage and they were able to take me on the following Sunday with short notice at the time I requested. When I arrived, I was met with a very pleasant receptionist who checked me in for my appointment. I then learned I'd be working with Yuto for my massage that day. When I booked the appointment, I had no preference with regard to man or woman therapist. My only priorities were to book a deep tissue massage as opposed to Swedish, and to work with someone who was strong and highly skilled. I have to say that Yuto was calm, professional, and definitely provided the long overdue, relaxing, deep massage I was hoping for. Overall, I would likely come back here. It's a great neighborhood spot, and the prices are reasonable, even without a gift card. Definitely recommend! read more

3.5 stars. This place is fine, not great, not bad at all. The massage was good (4 stars), the facial was good (4 stars), the spa area is outdated with very thin walls - you feel more like you're in someone's basement then at a spa (2 stars), but seems clean enough. My issue is with the checkout process. The first time I went, I had a Spa Week gift card - they could not figure out how to redeem it, so I just paid out of pocket and left. The second time I made sure to mention it will booking the "spa package" of a facial + massage (marketed on their website as a package, not a special). When I went to pay they charged me much more than the website quoted. I asked why and they said I can't combine a gift card with a "special". Nowhere on their packages does it say this. It was also not mentioned during the booking process at all. It was very poor communication. I wouldn't return for this reason. My recommendation to this place would be to have better customer service with clearer communication. Also some spa music or white noise would help (you can literally hear the convos upstairs) and some diffusers with essential oils to help with the ambiance. read more

I have been to this salon on 3 separate occasions now since June and each time I have been super happy with the service. The first time I did a #selfcare day with a deep cleansing facial, Brazilian wax and massage! All amazing services!!! Yuto is great if you are looking for an awesome massage. The 2nd visit I got a hair cut and blow out and loved it so I decided to go back for color. Today I got a balayage coloring done to my hair and it looks amazing!!! My stylist, Irene, took her time and knew what she was doing. I'm going back to see her in 3 weeks for a Keratin treatment and can't wait! I highly recommend this full service spa & salon and their friendly staff and owner!!! Update: I just had the keratin treatment done to my hair this past weekend and absolutely love it! I have mixed reviews about this place. It's not amazing and it's not that bad. I made use of Spa week and came for a facial. I forgot the name of the person who did my facial. She was super nice like too nice. Anyway, the room that I was in was clean and the ambience was calm. What I didnt like about the place was the woman who did my facial asked me if I had any questions so I asked her "what does this facial involve" I basically wanted to know what my face is getting itself into and she responds to me as if I'm some dumb, ignorant person "Oh dear, have you never had a facial before and explains the process". She now assumes I've never had a facial. I warn her that I have super sensitive skin and I go red and swollen quickly. She tells me that's a common reaction to everyone. This is when I wanted to run out of the place. I've had facials before where my skin looked like I got punched by 20 wrestlers at once post facial. I once had this facial where my skin broke out so bad that it took 6 months and 3 visits to the dermatologist to fix it. So yes, I'm cautious about what's done to my face and the aestician shouldve taken my concern into account. Anyway, the facial was okay. I was pissed that she put no mask after extraction. The mask helps calm my skin and reduce my skin from getting swollen. Further they charged me $15 in addition to the $50 (spa week) for extraction. The facial was just $85 without the spa week offer. I felt like they were ripping me off. Thankfully, my face wasnt too bad and it healed in 4 days with a few breakouts. I wont be going back to this place though I really wanted this to work out since they are in Brooklyn and close to me. I guess I'll continue going to my elite level spa in Manhattan who though a little pricier than here provide very good service. read more

I'd give ZERO STARS if I could! I scheduled a massage+facial for my husband and I this weekend. The massage was fine. Then, I had my facial with Michelle. At first, she seemed to be in a hurry, and I wondered if she would give my 45min facial or would finish before that. She did give me the full 45min, so I could say the 1 star is for that. I usually have facials once a month, and I have tried several places in the city, so I actually know what to expect from a facial. While I do not think it was a facial, I agree the products they used are good products. However, my biggest problems with the facial were: 1. The lady was in a hurry and I couldn't relax, with the impression I was bothering her. 2. She was loud and sloppy. She would turn the faucet on (to wash hand and utensils, I suppose) as if she were in her kitchen. My previous experiences are NO FAUCETS RUNNING whatsoever, but I do usually hear some splashes once in a while, which I believed to be the person washing everything in a quiet manner. Also, she kept bumping in the bed, and at some point pushed the bed a few inches. Not harmful, but, not a relaxing experience. 3. The "strawberry facial" is actually a facial massage. She kept massaging my face, head, shoulders, arms and hands. It SEEMS nice, but, she would put cream after cream, *and bring her hands greased with cream back to my hair!* I felt the cream in my hair, then my hair started to get (feel) wet and greasy. I also felt my face really greasy. The feeling was as if someone had give me a massage with hair conditioner, and left a think layer of conditioner in my face, which eventually started to dry out. 4. SHE KEPT BRINGING THE CREAMS TO MY HAIR! I left the salon with a horrible greasy hair. She kept resting her (with moisturizer) in my forehead and hair, also massaging the back of my head with the moisturized hand. My hair was greasy up to about 2-3inches from my face and neck. I had NEVER experienced something like that. When I left, I talked to the person in the front, explained everything to her. She said "sorry" (which was nice) and charged my $340 for the entire service. I was going to PrettyPlease ($120) to have my monthly 60min facials, but was hoping to find a nice please near home. For the $72.50 I paid at Venelle for a 45min, I'd expect WAAAAY more. I'm NEVER coming back. Which is a shame, because they're 5min from home and the massage was nice. read more

I have gotten many good haircuts at Venelle, but do not come here for color. On two separate occasions with two separate stylists (Sammy and Dimitri) I asked for an ashy blonde and left with brassy/orange hair. This last time, Dimitri looked at my reference picture and said "no problem," but the result looks absolutely nothing like what I asked for; the color is extremely brassy and the highlights are chunky. He recommended a purple shampoo to lift the color to where I want it, and charged me the whole job plus the cost of the shampoo. The salon did call back to offer their sincere apologies and for me to have a complimentary color correction with a stylist more proficient in color, however I elected to go to another salon for the correction. Moral of the story: Be very clear when booking that you want a color expert. read more

I had a haircut here that I was not fully satisfied with. When the owner heard that I was unsatisfied she contacted me personally to apologize. She then put me in contact with the manager of the salon who was very kind and understanding. He listened to my complaint and offered to recut my hair and refund my money. While I may not have been satisfied with my cut from the stylist that I worked with I was very impressed with the high level of customer service. The room had a chill b/c the ceiling fan was on high but esthetician was kind enough to turn it put it on low when asked, but then she got hot and opened the door slightly :-/,. Products were good though - Essence, which I've used in the past and one of the reasons I decided to give Venelle a shot. What I did not like is the esthetician using everything cold to either wipe my face, remove product etc. I am aware that cold water closes pores, however, hot/warm towels should've been used and then at the end, cold could've been used. When I brought it up, she said I should've told her. I thought hot/cold was common knowledge and I'm far from a spa/facial virgin. Anyway, doubt I'll return. read more

I would Really like to give 4.5 stars- I had 60 Min Sugar body scrub + 60 min Swedish massage with Yuto. The Staff was extremely welcoming, friendly and professional. My services I had were excellent, I walked out of there feeling like a limp noodle :D My only reason for not 5 stars is that the walls are very thin. You can hear hallway noise, and any laughing, or loud talking. It kills the zen mood a little. I went on my Birthday, and they gave me a discount and a glass of prosecco.
