My first time here and I am definitely coming back. I made an appointment for Gel extensions manicure and gel pedicure. Everyone was very polite and accommodating. My appointment was with Carolina who did an amazing job on my mani-pedi. I'm not normally a "long-nail" type of person but the way she did them and the simplicity of the colors (I picked the purple last minute and her positive response made me feel comfortable) makes me want to wear long nails all the time. Walking into Gail's salon is like walking into a well loved friend's home, and having some tea and gossip. Gail is so warm and welcoming, I stayed long after my appointment was finished to just hang out with some of the other neighbours. My nail technician Nira did a wonderful job on my SNS nails. I'm new to living in BK so I was looking for a good spot to get a pedicure. The tech was thorough as hell. Completely chill process and she was hella detail oriented. Awful! Overcharged and sneaky upsales of everything. Not even a decent job. Never coming back! They charge tax, 25$ for chrome!! Everywhere else is 10$. She can look at your hair without touching it and assess the needs for healthy shine and radiant color change. For nails - Carolina can take any photo for gel manicures and turn it into reality, from my black tie wedding #tuxedo nails to everyday casual. For skin - Alex the esthetician has began offering CryoSlimming, cryotonning and cryofacials !!! The natural non-invasive, fat reducing technology, literally tightens the face, body, belly...the packages are a steel and his lasering from hair reduction was worth every dollar. I hate to write negative reviews, but I feel like I need to warn people. First off, as a positive, this nail salon has a really nice vibe and I could have seen myself going back there if my experience had not been so terrible. I get my nails done all the time (religiously) and this was by far the worst manicure I have ever had. I walked away with a bruised and cut finger that I am afraid will get infected and has been hurting since last night. The woman who did my nails was pretty awful at her job from the jump. Some of the highlights: it took her a million years to take gel nail polish off my nails (and then she acted like it was my gel polish-like no, this is normal and none of the million other places have ever had a problem), she DESTROYED my nails while removing the polish, cut them down to stubs to avoid having to remove the polish she couldn't get off even after butchering my nails, took two phone calls during the time she was messing up my nails, and I asked her not to cut my cuticles, but she ended up cutting the whole side of one of my fingers so much so that it has been hurting since last night. When she was putting the polish on my nails, she kept using some weird wooden thing to aggressively go around my nail to clean up wayward color, which I realized she was doing because she couldn't paint nails..... I mean, if you can't paint nails, then maybe don't? I had to ask her to stop using the wooden thing because it was hurting my hands. End result: uneven nails that looks sloppy as all hell after I paid $62 total and I am in pain due to her somehow managing to cut my finger so badly. So yeah...never again. read more

A perfect pedicure experience. I booked through Yelp and they were ready for me as soon as I arrived. After a month long vacation on rocky beaches and dusty roads, my feet were looking rough. I was so impressed with the technician's attention to detail and gentle navigation of the healing scrapes on my feet from my adventures. I always go once a month to rod set my natural hair. Gina is the owner of the salon and the stylist that rod sets my hair. She is very professional and her team is also. I came in for a gel manicure / regular pedicure walk in at the last minute, and I was so pleased with the service I received!! I unfortunately didn't get the name of my nail tech, but she was super kind and her attention to detail was amazing. She *really* took her time correcting things and getting my cuticles RIGHT! They were a mess when I walked in. I seriously appreciate the care and intentionality she had with my nails. Best mani/pedi I've gotten in a while. Not to mention, the price was right!!! Once they finally got to me, the woman doing my nails was very rough with my hands, not gentle at all. I got hard gel with extension, didn't even get a nail polish added on and they had the nerve to charge me for TOP COAT!! Walked out spending $80 for a bad, rushed job and I regret tipping. Pretty sure they used day-old wax on my face. I've gotten eyebrow waxed here twice and each time all around my eyebrows I break out like crazy. I get my eyebrows waxed regularly, and this is not usually a problem for me. I think their wax is not clean, and not changed often. I really really didn't want to write this review. But I feel I need to. I got a lash life and eyebrows shape/tint. Really sadly a bad experience on both accounts. First I really enjoy the atmosphere of this salon and why I went back after I was cut by a nail tech and the set of nails I had only lasting 2 weeks after spending 2.5 hours getting them done. The owner was very accommodating on this matter and offered me a free pedicure to make up for it which was great. Everyone is very kind and warm. However while both the lash tech and eyebrow tech were nice, neither did a professional job. The eyebrow tech kept saying to other employees that she didn't feel well and that she felt like she had a flu or Covid. She was saying all of their while literally touching my face. When I asked her if she felt sick and suggested maybe she shouldn't say that in front of customers she laughed and said she didn't know I understood. Really not ok in the time of Covid. This was all in Spanish and they thought I couldn't understand. The eyebrow tech also cut my face pretty deeply with her nail and was very rough with me. This cut took 2 weeks to fully heal. When I asked her to be more gentle she said that she was tired. Also not ok to tell a customer when you are working on their face. My lash tech was very very inexperienced and careless with the job she did. I had to ask her multiple times to pull her mask up bc I could feel her breathing on my face and she smelled like weed. On top of that she left me to dry my lashes myself because she was rushing to pick up her food and eat and get to the next customer. The lash lift in itself is horrible. My lashes are bent and curling into my eye. It's been about 3 weeks and they are not improved at all. None of the lashes are lifted properly and literally curl into my eye lid or into my actual eye. I have spent hours upon hours the last few weeks trying to find ways to fix them and nothing. I even went to the Lash Loft and they said there was nothing they could do because my lashes have been SO badly damaged. I have gotten multiple lash lifts before and this is by far the worst. I feel really bad saying this but she needs way more experience as a lash lift tech. She rushed the process and ended up messing with my lashes (which could be permanent- as the lash loft told me). Additionally the tech told me absolutely nothing about after care. When I asked she told me I would need to come back in 2 weeks to get it done again. This is what confirmed how inexperienced she really is. A lash lift is supposed to last for way longer than 2 weeks...it should last 6-8 weeks. When you get a lash lift you aren't supposed to wet the lashes for 24-48 hours. She said nothing of this to me as she left me alone to go and eat while I dried my lashes my self...which most definitely contributes to how messed up my lashes are. I am really disappointed in this experience because I think back2basics had the ability to be better. I have no idea how long this will last. I can't speak for her extension work but lash lift is a no go at this point. I missed many social engagements the past few weeks because of the way my lashes look. I have gotten comments on how bad they look. Nothing fixes them and mascara makes them look worse. When I tried to get them fixed by the salon there was a whole round about to the time I was supposed to come in. It was such a headache I decided not to go back in and have her touch my lashes again. I wasn't given a refund but only offered more services. I would have preferred a refund. read more
