If I could give less than one star I would. I got a terrible manicure there, w gel polish stuck to the skin around the nail and bubbling throughout. It was so severe that by the next day I had lost all of the polish on the index finger. I went to a different salon and what you see in the second photo is the re done nail by the second salon which you can see is done more cleanly. Let me start with the good. The people there are very friendly and customer service was great. However, I am very disappointed. I spent $115 on a fill-in with design and a regular pedicure. My nails and toes have chipped by day two. Within a week it was noticeably messy. The polish job on my toes didn't last well either, unfortunately. I asked for regular polish for the design. I was convinced to get gel polish by the nail tech (extra $35 or something crazy like that, which I didn't know about.) So unfortunate because the staff is really kind. read more

I wanted to wait a few days before leaving a review to make sure my pedicure stayed and it sure has! I was able to make an appointment the day before and for $40 for the second tier pedicure I got a massage with a hot stone, a ten minute leg massage and maybe the greatest upper body massage of all time. I am thrilled to have found this place. I overheard a woman in the salon saying she had been going here for 20 years and there's a reason why. Shout out to Ping Ping for the wonderful experience. I went here because I happened to be walking by so I stopped to get my nails done. The lady burned me with the machine multiple times . She also smeared my nail polish. I did powder nails and was over charged. They price board aaya a price and they charge you another. I've come here twice now and the first experience was amazing, I had to remove old gel/acrylic and have all new tips plus just a change in pedicure polish- not even a full pedi and I was charged $120ish for that but I didn't mind because the girl was super efficient and good. The second time I went it was just a gel/acrylic refill, nothing crazy or fancy and same gel pedicure. Firstly my pedicure was horrible. The lady didn't even spend any time to take the dead skin off or buff off any calluses, I was so disappointed and it still cost me like $50. Apparently they do the best job if you buy the special spa pedicure which is ridiculous. What's even the point of a pedicure if you can't remove dead skin or make it look decent! The nails were just normal and I paid again $120-130 for both. It was not worth the outrageous price even when their price board says something completely different. I did not want to waste my precious breath arguing or demanding explanations about price I just don't go back that's all. I can find a much more affordable place that will do the same job if not better. Too bad because I really liked it there. read more

Sure, it's a no frills salon, but the quality of work I have received here for 4+ years has been great. Suky takes appointments via text message, which is super helpful. Jessie is my go-to nail technician. She has really helped me a lot recently since having surgery on my left elbow and not being able to paint my own nails (I usually get a pedi only and do my own mani). She even helped me put my hair in a ponytail when I had a cast on my left arm. She has become a sort of Brooklyn mom to me. They take great care of me here and the prices are fantastic! I've been coming to Mom's for manicures, pedicures, and occasional waxing for about 12 years. For about 10 of those years, my hands were taking a beating for half the day (gardening, beekeeping) and then supposed to look pretty and polished for the other half the day (office work, meetings, school networking). The team at Mom's helped my hands stand up to the manual labor and still look good for the office labor! I tend to go fairly simple w my nails- one color, short-to-medium length, natural nails with either gel or sns (sometimes regular, depends on my color needs). But they're always well done, well cared-for, and last a while. The pricing is good, the team is good-natured and friendly (lots of longtimers, both on the staff and in the clientele)-- i feel like I'm Norm walking into Cheers. Go there often enough and everybody will know your name. (And your color preferences). They include a hand and shoulder massage for most mani treatments, and you can level up w a chair massage by request (i have not done this but my bf has). Bf also goes for pedicures - he loves the Mom's team, too. Tip: for a DIY day spa experience, get your hands, feet and brows tended to here, get a medspa facial at Blitz or a gentle and affordable facial at Omni, and then get a full body massage at Sunshine. I found this salon through yelp and called at around 5:40 asking if they were accepting walk-ins. The lady that answered the phone was really nice and explained that they weren't too busy so now would be a good time to come. When I showed up with my friend with me, we were both greeted warmly by basically all the workers in the salon. When I was asked what I wanted done I said acrylics but I found out they don't do acrylics. They explained that they do tips with the SNS dip powder and explained that it's just like acrylic. I was worked on by Ping and she did amazing. I asked how much it'd be for what I wanted before she started and she explained it to me. She was very diligent but quick. It's well-light, spacious, clean and they have a huge assortment of colors. Mostly, the people there are super friendly and nice to chat with during your manicure or while you wait. It's hit or miss here, in my experience. I went 5/19/19 and got an SNS gel manicure with tips on my pointer fingers. If you look at the manicure overall it looks fine, it's when you look in detail that there are some issues. Generally, I'm not opposed to using drills on my nails, but while it was in use the tech nicked 3 of my fingers. My left ring and middle and my right ring finger. You can see from my photo my ring finger has healed but it's left a scar along my cuticle and the actual skin on my finger. I had tips installed and my nail wasn't cut, but if it's not going to cut then the tip needs to be applied flat against it. Since this wasn't the case, dirt is getting stuck between the tip and my finger nail. I ended up cutting my nail shorter with a cuticle cutter when I got home, but it still wasn't short enough to prevent this from happening - see photo. Lastly, was the evenness of my nail you can see from the photo that there is a small impression between where the tip ends and my nails begin. This indicates that it was unevenly filed. I will say I loved the final shape of my nails. I thought they were going to be too short to get the almond shape, but she shaped them perfectly. I plan on using this shape as a reference for future manis, but don't think I'll return here. read more

I CONSTANTLY have to correct them and tell them to clean certain things, polish to the edge of the nail, etc. It makes getting a mani/pedi an annoying experience. They also have this new habit of not getting the skin on the corner of my big toe, which makes me have to get pedicures more often. When you correct them, they seem annoyed and will occasionally chat in Mandarin before having someone else finish your service. I love the owner Suki, but I hate the service now. This is the last straw. I'm not coming back here, and I'd recommend you don't either. Truly garbage. read more

review of SNS powder tips: I went to Moms for the first time today and it was my worst nail experience. I was taking off powder and tips from a previous salon and getting that again here. First, they soak your hands in acetone to take off the powder and tips. This isn't uncommon, just annoying to be left soaking in chemicals for 40 minutes. It left my skin really dry and left the stickiness of the powder all over my fingers. They didn't let me wash them after either. A cleaner and healthier way to do this is to put acetone on a cotton ball and then wrap it in aluminum foil. But anyway this was minor. Second, when we started the tip process, she immediately put the tips on. My nails looked like they were on the verge of death after being soaked for so long and she didn't do anything to them first to at least attempt to keep them healthy. Also minor but could so easily be avoided. Third, putting the tips on, she would put the glue on then stick them on then check afterwards if it was the right size and if it wasn't she would rip it off or rip it off to straighten in out. I'm hoping these tips actually last long because she ripped them off and stuck them back on so many times. One of them is so crooked. My finger might bend a little but I've never had a nail lean so far to the side. It looks ridiculous. Fourth, she told me a color I was considering was too dark for me. And she told me again at the end that she was glad I didn't pick it cause it was too dark for me. I just had on black nails when I came in that looked way better than these do soo keep your anti black comments to yourself girl. Fifth, she did not file down the tip extension which left the largest lump in the middle of my nails. You could tell it was a nail on top of half of my nail. It looked so unprofessionally done. I asked her to fix it and she said she would file it down later. She did and it looks better but still there is still a large lump in the middle because the tip is not level with my nail. SIXTH, the powder isn't on the service menu. One section says "tip" and listed under it was "dip powder $25" so I thought that is how much it cost. Then at the end they told me it would be $45. I asked why it wasnt $25 and it said dip powder is different than what I used and that I used gel powder. So I asked them to show me where on the menu this was and they explained again it was different from dip powder. So I said OKAY but show me which one on this menu that I am purchasing. Then the woman who seemed like a manager told me it wasn't on there. then she says oh yeah that's a good point I should add it. So not only was this extremely sloppy and probably damaging to my nails they charged me way more than I was expecting because it wasn't on the menu. I would absolutely never ever go there again and don't recommend this place for SNS powder tips. read more

I came in on the night before Thanksgiving and the place was packed, but the staff said hello to everyone that walked in and it seems like they have a long, positive rapport with many of the women that come in. The prices were decent in comparison to other places, I paid $67 for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. Cons: They are not clean. I wanted to like this place but they do not sanitize their utensils properly or even clean out the bowl between pedicures. I'm grateful I made it out of there unscathed. Seriously, I felt bad saying something because everyone was SO FRIENDLY, but it's just weird to me that they didn't at least spray a disinfectant or use a plastic wrap or something. The worst part is their utensils just come out of their hands and aprons and not from a sterilizing box or from a jar with "Barbicide" or something. Also, my gel began peeling within two days. The technicians are wonderful and treat you right. They gave me a brief shoulder massage which I didn't ask for. I got a gel nail manicure and a regular pedicure. I can't speak to the quality of the pedi as it was clear, but the manicure started cracking within a few days. Pretty solid nail salon. They have a ton of manicurists and lots of seats. There isn't much a space to wait in, so if you do have to wait more than 5 minutes (which is rare) you are kind of just awkwardly standing or sitting in the way of something or someone. They do a really nice job and its 20 bucks for mani/pedi. I also REALLY love how they ask you to wash your hands before they begin polishing (after filing, etc). I always secretly wished I could do this, because my nails feel gross after getting filed and I wish they could be clean before polishing. I had been trying to get these holographic chrome almond gel nails for some time now, but every other salon didn't quite know how to do these or didn't have the right products. Thought a spa day is what I needed after a stressful week. But unfortunetly this experience just added onto it. Came in on a Thursday morning (around 1030) after reading reviews of all the salons in the area. This one caught my eye because I wanted a nice design on my nails in time for Valentine's day. I came in and it was packed. I thought well this is a great sign and so I sat in a pedicure chair to get a pedicure. I was patiently waiting scrolling on my Pinterest for some inspiration. Diana came over and said that I have to soak off my sns that I have currently on my nails in which I did. She was informing me that on about 5 minutes I need to take the sheets of paper that's in the soak and rub off the powder from my nails. I understood, waited about 5 minutes paying attention more to the time and after 5 minutes started doing what she informed me to do. She shot up from what she was doing and said that I should be doing it not her. I looked at her saying I was about to do it but she came over..so she did it and I kept soaking because all of it didn't come off right away. She was finishing up with my pedicure (which upon coming home I noticed she didn't cut some of my toe nails!) When I sat at the manicure desk, I showed her the inspirational photos so she can base off of them but she kept saying she can't do any of them. I asked if she can do a simple base color with an ombre glitter on top and she finally said yes. Her work is very rushed and not clean. She couldn't do the glitter ontop as what it was supposed to be, so I just told her to leave the regular coat of base color and end it at that. It was extremely sloppy! The image is of after 30 minutes of her "fixing" it. I was basically in tears telling her to just get it off and she kept blaming it on the sns that I had before. It truly had nothing to do with the sns beforehand! Their gel top coat burned my fingernails when I put it under the led light and she just chuckled after I said I wasn't putting my hands in there and she just shoved my hand into the light! I have insanely frail nails so I felt all the burning pain shooting all the way up to my arm. All this pain took 2.5 hours and $50! She saw that I was miserable and in pain and yet she just kept on going. I'm truly scarred from this experience and I hope no one has to experience this! read more
