I called to book a very last minute (day of) haircut, and they were able to squeeze me in. I had Irina as my stylist, and she did an AMAZING job. I had a semi-botched recent haircut and was very specific with what I wanted, including pictures and videos, and she matched them perfectly. The best part, other than the great service and attention to detail, was the price! Haircut was $65 (cash) or $70 by card. Any women's haircut, wash and blow-dry in NYC for less than $95 is a steal in my book. HIGHLY recommend going to Tiga. Specifically ask for Irina! You won't be disappointed. read more

I just had a terrible experience at Tiga Salon. The man who cut my hair (not gabriel) left me with uneven hair: shorter in back than front and longer on right than left; and a terrible blow out which left me with splayed out ends. As I was watching him work, with a serious expression on my face, he told me I should keep my head up when I walk down the street, that I would look better if i keep my chin up, and suggesting that the haircut wasn't the problem, it was me. He was sloppily dressed, and impatient throughout the experience. When I asked for the blown ends to be curled under, he did one quick brush-under on each side, and snapped my gown collar off, to say he was done. Gabriel saw that I was unhappy and as I left he said that if I had 'any questions' I could come back in a few days. The only question I would have is: Was this guy trained as a hairdresser?! I certainly wouldn't trust them to fix it! Even my son noticed my hair was lopsided when I got home. The next day I had to have the cut fixed at another salon, and that hair stylist confirmed how lopsided the cut was. She had to retrim my hair completely. I don't recommend Tiga. read more

I came here for the first time for a simple blow dry. I checked the prices online before coming in which said $30-$40 along with the board on the front which read the same. They tried charging me $45 plus tax and said it was bc I had "super long hair"--my hair is just below my shoulders. Gabriel's reasoning was that on the bottom it said " prices vary depending on thickness and length" however the range shown should account for that. On top of that I found the stylist who did my hair to be very very aggressive. My hair strand are very fine and she was super rough with it. I found the owner Gabriel a bit to pushy and opinionated for my liking and a little offput and didn't blow dry my cut when I that is typically the norm for salons. The hair came out somewhere between meh and okay. My hair is thick wavy/curly so it just doesn't fall right. Would I go back, not sure, but it's very reasonable $50-65 range, but you get what you pay for I guess. read more

Tiga is a wonderful salon. I'm usually agnostic to where I get my hair cut--I just let it grow until I'm annoyed with it, then find a deal on Groupon for a cut. I had such a good experience at Tiga (using said Groupon) that it's become my go-to salon. It's never too crowded, feels clean, and the staff is professional. Gabriel is great at interpreting the style I'm going for and reads his customers well--I usually just want to sit quietly and read a book while getting my hair cut and he does not try to talk my ear off, which I very much appreciate. And the prices are reasonable for the area too (tip: bring cash because there's a slight up-charge for credit/debit card payments). Looking forward to my next cut! read more

I also gave my honest opinion about a salon a few doors down. I thought they were better for a few reasons. I gave the owner a call and still I'm the jerk. I would trust Gabriel with my life. This was my second time seeing him for a Balayage and I am just so wowed by his talent. I had some train issues and didn't show up until 30 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. Made a blowout appointment here for the first time, since they advertise that as their specialty. I made an appointment Friday for Saturday, so their ability to accommodate me last-minute was nice. The blow dry went well, but curling my hair after didn't seem to be my stylist's specialty, and after I left, I had to go home to fix it. He tried to joke and make conversation about me being single and saying I "need to find a rich husband", and that "you know what they say- fine hair, fine lady" but the multiple comments like this made me somewhat uncomfortable.
