I used to go to dr postar at this location. He is semi retired now ,so I saw dr . sloan. I like him a lot and he gave me an excellent exam. Very thorough. the The women in the frame dept really know what they are doing. This is my second review for Dr. Sloan. In 2014 when I first went to Sloan Optometry I was very pleased. Now, 7 years later I am shaking my head. My experiences at this office has flown down hill. In 2018, after spending much of my own time showing Dr. Sloan what a musician needs in terms of seeing the music and the conductor ( I am a professional violinist ) he gave me contacts to try. He was very generous with the contacts he gave me to 'try'. So, I put the lenses in and went to work and couldn't see the music. WHAT? That was the last time I put in contacts since I was 12 years old. So, fast forward, the office moves, the staff changes etc etc. And now Covid. My last eye exam Dr. Sloan over prescribed my prescription and I knew something was wrong. He even admitted that he should've left my script alone during my second refraction. Yet, he insisted on charging me for the appointment. I had decided to find a new eye doctor anyway, but here's the kicker!!! Today when I went to pick up my glasses with the 'right' script in the lens, I got fired LOL! The first time I have ever been fired by a Doctor in my life. So, let me wrap this up with, RUN, don't WALK away from this office. I didn't want to start a blood bath, because I don't need to. BUT! The office is like a vault. The door is locked and the receptionist comes to the door, acts like you are about to rob the joint, and then grills the person standing in the hot sun about Covid, demands you sanitize your hands and sticks the thermometer in your face before you know what's happening. Tammy runs the office like it's hers, and has made quips about how I have come too late to have my glasses adjusted, or is locking up early because she and her co worker have massage appointments, or rubbing in how strong my prescription is. And then the insult to injury! Dr. Sloan gets his sarcastic jabs in as well, blames the glasses that were too strong, on me. Perhaps you have sinus...... or were you driving late at night. NO, Dr. Sloan, the prescription was too strong.and I got a horrible headache. And let's not forget the nervous laugh that hides all of the insecurity and lack of knowledge. To be honest, getting fired is a blessing. I should have found a competent eye doctor for my needs 3 years ago. read more

Such an amazing experience....from checking in to the eye drops!!! Truly the best eye experience ever! Dr. Sloan is the man and so the staff is superb!!! Everyone was extremely helpful, amazing, and professional! After my exam I walked out saying "ohh that was fun!"such a comfortable environment and very clean, and the equipment was so hi-tech! What a fantastic experience. I've been putting off my annual eye exam because I hate that machine that puffs air into your eye, and my previous doctor would poke fun at me for not being able to see the big E on the exam chart. Going to Dr. James Sloan has really changed how I view (ha) eye exams. He was very gentle and communicated thoroughly to make sure I was comfortable. Also he used a different method for testing eye pressure, no puff machine! I was incredibly comfortable the entire time, and found it easy to speak openly to him about any health concerns I had. He was very patient, very kind, and just seems like a great person all around. He was also very open with showing me the results of the exam, with pictures and everything so I felt very informed. He and his staff even helped me pick out the frames for my glasses, which I must say look really flattering on me! More importantly, the prescription was accurate and I can see better now than I have in a LONG time. Dr. Sloan is kind, efficient, and very fast-working. I was in and out quickly for an eye exam. He was patient with me when my left eye was being difficult and wouldn't adjust to "this one, or this one". He took his time to make sure there was nothing wrong with it by doing multiple tests.
