My most recent contact lens order is what finally prompted me to share my experience. About a month ago I ordered contacts and my card was charged around $300. After hearing nothing, I called to check in and was told the manufacturer "never delivered" my order. Immediately after that call, I received an email receipt from the office dated that same day--making it pretty clear the order hadn't been placed until I followed up. I understand mistakes happen, but this has happened before, and it's become a pattern. The tough part is that I'm now out of contacts while I wait (possibly another month). I also asked if I could get a sample pair to hold me over, and that request was declined, even though the delay was caused by the office not placing the order. As much as I've liked Dr. Dodge personally, the ordering/fulfillment process has been consistently unreliable, so I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Okay, no big deal and easy. Picked them up and asked to get them adjusted. That's when it went awry. I figured they'd be experienced and be able to adjust my glasses as I had to have an appointment for pick up. Nope. Save yourself the trouble and get them adjusted elsewhere. They gave it a very valiant effort but execution left a lot to be desired. They didn't break my new glasses but they were not balanced or straight after adjusting. Great taste in frames.

I had to call in every day to see whether they can squeeze me in, and when I cancelled an appointment because my dog is not feeling well, and the vet suggested to come in ASAP at the same time, of course my dog comes in first. They wanted to collect this $50, or they wouldn't give me an appointment. All I need is this damned prescription because I already paid $290 for an exam, but never again. So I paid $50, but... They lost my business. Update, after this review was posted, they called me to inform me that they will not be releasing my prescription, which I was waiting months for. Petty move but not surprising. I will get the refund for my exam and $50 fee though so I can start all over again elsewhere. What a joke, avoid them at all cost.

My toddler daughter needed glasses and we already had a prescription from her pediatric Ophthalmologist. I was searching for a place closer to home that carried toddler frames, because the recommendations from her pediatric Ophthalmologist at the Dohney eye institute in Pasadena were all in SGV. I called New Vision specifically asking about frames for my 20-month old and after being satisfied with their answers, made an appointment. However, their selection was disappointing and they didn't have the strap-on toddler frames, as I was told on the phone. I went with the only viable option reluctantly because I wanted to get the glasses and didn't want to waste more time. I gave them the prescription (in paper form) and they had trouble with their scanner so told me they'd give it back to me when we picked up the glasses. I asked if my daughter needed to be present, and they said yes. When glasses were ready, they texted me at 3:48 Friday asking me to make an appointment, and said they were closing at 4:15 and reopened on Monday. Had I been notified even a couple hours earlier, I could have rearranged my schedule instead of waiting until Monday. So that was disappointing. Finally when picking them up, my daughter tried them on but they didn't really do anything else so not sure why my daughter needed to be present or why I needed to make an appointment. And they also didn't have the paper prescription that I had been promised. The person giving me the glasses made zero effort and just told me how easy it is to request it again from the ophthalmologist office. I obviously know this. This just underscored to me that things aren't communicated properly about patient requests.

It had been years since I had an eye exam, so I had that weird feeling of being out of the loop with any of the terms or options. Tammy and all the ladies in the office really did a fantastic job of not only educating me, but making me feel like everything was going to be ok. I need a provider that will tell me what the current state is and little things I can do to improve my health. I don't have time for a medical degree mouthpiece ego scolding me like I'm some imbecilic stepchild who's the product of an unwanted pregnancy. Yes, I've had some horrific doctors in the past, if you can't tell by now. That's what I loved about Dr. Postar... and that's what I love about Dr. Sloan. I was apprehensive at first because he isn't as outspoken as Dr. Postar - but those fears were almost immediately allayed... As he's performing his exam, he shares his findings which to me is critical - because it then in turn encourages me to ask questions... and I ask a lot of questions. Being as patient as he is, he answers each and every one of them and I have never ever felt rushed or stupid for asking questions about my ocular health. Again, I'm not the perfect patient, and Dr. Sloan gently recommends little things I can do to make sure I don't go blind and can still give dirty looks to people when I'm 90. He's even forewarned me about things that may happen naturally to my eyes, "at my age" - I get it, I ain't no spring chicken and I appreciate his straightforward-ness. I don't have the time nor the diabetic ego for unnecessary sugar-coating. Don't even get me started on the staff - super sweet, real, down-to-earth ladies. Christie? Amazing, welcoming, and a great personality. Brenda? Straightforward, honest, and most of all - I didn't feel like she was taking me for a VSP insurance-billing ride. She tells it like it is (explained how to fully take advantage of my benefits) and I appreciated that. If you appreciate the gift of sight, go visit this place. And if you cut me off in the parking lot when I'm 90, have faith that I will be able to see you and give you dirty looks.
