If you are looking for an Italian beef sandwich, this is not the place to go. I probably wouldn't bother cooking here for anything else either. It's a pretty standard greasy hot dog/burger shop. The beef was tasteless and low quality. The juice was way too much (there was a swimming pool of juice in my dish) and the bread was not crusty. Avoid.

First time at Slim's and I'm already planning my next visit for their Italian beef! The staff was super welcoming and friendly. I got the Chicago style hot dog with fresh cut fries (amazing deal, it even came with a drink!), and everything was fully loaded and delicious! Highly recommend!

A small fast food spot. With all of the core items and their own creations. The cashier is super nice and friendly. Able to help me pick a great item here. Got the slim burger, which is Italian beef meat on the burger. It's very satisfying and meaty. The only thing is that the menus doesn't list the price. There is a footernote on the menu saying to go online to find real-time price. Pretty annoy if you are trying to figure out how much you want to spend.

Expert service. The food is filling and comforting. I recommend the burgers, the chilli cheese fries, and always get the shakes, especially the chocolate peanut butter flavor. The restaurant has a big enough space to dine in comfortably.

I don't know about the rest of their food but the hot dog. Oh. My. Gawd!!! I wish I'd gotten two instead of just one!! The bun was so delicious, the pickle, the dog, everything was so well balanced until we meet again Chicago, I'll be dreaming of that hot dog lol

Slim's is a great local, slightly above average, fast food option. They don't bother with those grey frozen burger patties found at many competitors. .. nothing but Creekstone Farms beef here! The prices reflect the fresh ingredients and upgrades like brioche buns. 3.39 overall. I tried to convince myself to generously round up considering the service and the never frozen burger patties, but. ..that wouldn't be fair to the other 4 star restaurants. I don't like their Chicken Strips, but they are popular. I find they lack seasoning and are chewy. Not worth a special trip, but absolutely check out if you live in the neighborhood. Open til 9pm.

I liked this place. The workers were very nice. The restaurant is very small, has about four booths but when me and a friend went in we were the only ones in there. The food was solid, a bit expensive but pretty good. I got the cheeseburger combo with a strawberry shake and regular fry. The fries were way too salty and the burger was just okay. I've had better. I also got the mozz sticks, they were beer battered which I'm not really a fan of but my friend liked them. Overall I would come back and probably order something different and ask for light salt on my fries.

This is the kind of place that I'm happy to have in my neighborhood. I don't remember how I stumbled upon it (definitely an accident), but I thought it was odd that I'd never noticed this place given the number of times I've walked by Damen & Montrose. I'm glad I found it. Good fries, good italian beef. Laid-back environment, clean place, nice people. My food also came out quickly. read more

I got some food delivered and I can definitely recommend their chicken po boy. The only reason I'd for them a star less is due to their delivery taking way too long . Other than that the sandwiches are stellar and so is the soup. I will definitely order again. read more

I have been here before for hot dogs and stuff, but today I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and it was just terrible. I expected it to come on a roll and it came on some kind of soft hamburger type bun that fell apart. The lettuce was old and wilted and 2 little sliced tomatoes. The chicken itself was dry, bland and had a burnt taste to it. Absolutely the worst chicken sandwich I ever had. Don't order it. Absolutely disgusting. read more

OMG, after YEARS of looking for a place in Chicago that had a decent grilled chicken sammich, I've finally discovered Slim's! I don't know, maybe because this is a beef and hotdog kind of town, finding places with a worthy grilled chicken sandwich has been tough. Slim's grilled chicken is dang near perfect, not burnt tasting or bland or rubbery. Their spicy chicken po boy is my new obsession! Extra points for their very tasty fries and onion rings. Tried for the first time. Got the mozzarella sticks breaded chicken and cheeseburger all very good. Breaded chicken is really good fries were decent. Very reasonable prices. Seating is limited but is comfy though for the amount of seating. read more

My husband and I have lived in the area for less than two months, and we have already been to Slims four times. The Nutella shake is honestly the main thing that keeps us coming back - it's as good as you're hoping it is! The rest of the menu is done really well too. If you can handle a little heat, go for the spicy chicken po' boy. We love the employees too - great customer service. They're all very honest, genuine, helpful, and friendly. read more

I came based on the reviews. This was a terrible experience. I ordered a polish CHICAGO style with fries and cherry Fanta. The polish was horrible - deep fried and dry. Never asked for a deep fried polish. Ok maybe I should have asked. However, upon mentioning my dissatisfaction twice to the staff, I received no response . I've always loved the consistency of this place and have always been happy with my meal and service. Tonight was no exception...I picked up my food and was eagerly awaiting biting into my sandwich when I realized they forgot the sauce! chicago has been booming with tons of restaurants and a diverse choice of foods.... but the classic chicago comfort food is always a must have. slims definitely brings it's "A" game to the chicago style hot dog. the slim burger is amazing and the shakes are a perfect compliment to the slim burger. if you haven't had slims yet you are definitely missing out on great food. read more

Their Chicago dog is pretty good (a bit heavy on the celery salt) but the "2 dogs with fries" for $4.95 is an awesome deal. It's especially great if you need a post-bar stop. The fries are their only pitfall. Nothing terrible, but they just don't satisfy their claim as a "fresh cut" fry. It seems like they are being cooked in either the wrong oil or at the wrong temperature (edit: I found that ordering the fries "crispy" makes them much more palatable because they lose that wet, oily texture-- I'd highly recommend it). The staff is great and very liberal with menu changes and pricing. Altogether, a good hot dog place. I'll be coming back. read more

This place is awesome. Great food every time. It's not immediate because it's cooked to order, and I'm ok with that. Have had terrific service and great food on several occasions. Only suggestion is the portion of french fries could feed my family - I would pay the same amount for fewer fries (they're very good though). Best weekday lunch burger spot in the neighborhood. read more

Look, this place is a pretty tasty, well-priced place to eat the fast food faves. The low ranking is because they have a bottle of A1 Steak Sauce that they clearly keep refilling with something that is not A1. It peeves me. I would be fine if they didn't have it all rather than faking it. Just seems weird. read more

I don't eat a lot of red meat these days, but something put me in the mood for a burger. I checked on google for nearby food, and this place popped up. Best decision of the day. The Slim Burger is SO delicious -- it made me question why I stopped eating beef to begin with. The flavors & seasonings were incredible! My kids and I love this place. Everything is well-made with excellent quality. The burgers are thin with home cut fries. The hot dogs are always on point. The price is impossible to beat for this type of food. There is almost always seating, and the outside eating space is quiet along the sidewalk. They are always kind to my kids who aren't exactly the perfect customers. We stop here whenever we can. read more

Placed order via grub hub. They said the wait would be 35 to 45 minutes. 55 minutes after I placed my order I called them. They hadn't even started making the order. This seems ridiculous for a place that sells burgers and hot dogs. Food was average. Don't order from here. read more

This is a new place that I've ordered from 3-4 times...good food, fast service, decent prices. The only critical thing I have to say is about one delivery issue I had. I ordered a burger and it was pretty good, except the mushrooms on it were very chewy and not fresh at all...and there was a little too much cheese. But the soup and the fries were delicious. The other delivery issue I had was with the delivery girl...I gave her a 2$ tip and she actually said "is that all?"...very rude! A tip is not a necessary part of a purchase. All in all I would order from them again...just will never tip that delivery woman if I see her again. read more

The owner/chef's industry experience is showcased on the restaurant's extensive menu, featuring homemade sauces and dressings, along with fresh halal meat and bread delivered daily. I'm a fan. I started going to Slim's last year because I was craving - a severe craving - an almost unnatural craving, a milkshake and discovered getting a milkshake isn't as easy as it should be. I went through a few places before discovering Slim's. I order the same thing over and over, so I can't honestly speak to the full range of the menu, but let me tell you about the cheeseburger, with everything, a side a fries, and a chocolate milkshake. Its almost a perfect meal. The burgers have the great beefy taste you want and when they say everything... they don't skimp. A good cheap burger, in my opinion, should have enough tomato, onion, lettuce, and pickles to equal the rest of the burger (bun and meat). The bun needs to be - what is the word - toothsome? It should be more than air, but shouldn't be the focus. So Slim's cheeseburgers are just right! The fries... not exactly my favorite but what they lack in flavor, they make up for in quantity. That works for me. We are talking cheap eats here, not some gourmet crap that makes you weep and repent past sins. And the shake... made by hand, great chocolate flavor (ask for double chocolate for a real thrill). I love grabbing a meal at Slim's once in awhile and so will anyone craving a great diner burger, fries, and shake. read more

Listen, I love Polish Sausage. Grilled onions and mustard. Never had I tasted one like Slims. They must do something different, I cant figure out what but I have to tell you for the price I challenge anyone to find a better polish. My standard is the Polish with a side of curly fries, cheese sauce, diet coke (with the tastiest fount drinks fyi) and a cup of home made chicken noodle. The perfect lunch. I have been in quite a bit and tried just about everything and can't find a thing I dont like Besides tomatoes. I dint like tomatoes. But obviously that is not their fault lol. The staff is awesome they have a fun basketball hoop to play with and I heard they are getting ms Pacman... AWESOME!!!! The staff is so cool and they always have the best games on TV. Before I knew it an hour has passed and I was finished eating 25minutes earlier. I was just chatting with the staff, The guy behind the counter looks like a basketball player and they have a cashier that is pretty nice to look at. I live in the area and this is definitely my new spot. Oh and I got delivery and it comes lightning fast. It is very important to them that the customer gets fresh food. Thanks for feeding me slims. I was too sick to write this review yesterday after my visit. I have never been here before. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with "spicy mayo" and side of fries. First I was really disgusted by the "fried chicken", it was not a patty but two burnt, thin little chicken tenders that I could barely chew. Extremely over-cooked and not appetizing. Then I started to feel sick, something was off with the "spicy" mayo, it was not at all spicy but tasted like cough syrup. I couldn't take more than one bite of my sandwich (because I could not chew it and the sauce was disgusting) so I asked what was in the "spicy" mayo - it has HONEY in it. I have a bad food intolerance to honey. I always mention this when ordering dessert or any foods that would reasonably contain honey. I did not expect it in "spicy mayo" and puked in their bathroom and have felt disgusting ever since. The worst part was when I told the employees that I could not eat it. They just looked at each other and asked if I wanted something else. I had to get back to work and I felt sick, not like eating. So I just left. The least they could have done is offer a refund. read more

Unlike a typical hot dog, Slim's plays with flavors not often associated with it. From seaweed, shredded white radish to the heat-waving bonito flakes, Slim's has much to explore. Much more expensive than a typical hog dog (especially if you're headed to the nearby Costco), Slim's is for those that want to see what Japanese would do to bring hot dogs closer to home. Each dog comes unique and there are pictures and descriptions for you to determine what you want to try first. But having tried most of their original creations and some of their recent additions, it is a good place to stop and eat when you only have 15 min to spare. It's fast food but delicious. Also, they have multiple locations in downtown so if you're craving for a quick bite, any of them would offer the same delicious Slim's you're craving for. As someone who loves McDonald's fries, their fries and flavoring are quite mediocre. Actually quite salty the last time I went but if you do go for them, the wasabi-mayo serves as a good dip to cut the salt and also bring some noise-flaring heat. read more

OH MY GAAAWWWWDDDDD my prayers have been answered and the good folks at slims are now doing delivery on sundays! its only till 7pm so if you are hungry on sundays, make sure you get your order over to them before you get too comfortable. please advise, i had an asshole friend bail on our football watching today and unfortunately it was his turn to provide food. i had my heart set on him buying my pizza and thanks to his epic failure, my household is now ordering from slims on a SUNDAY! i cant say enough about this place. they are the best greasy game food delivery people up north over here in wrigley/lakeview. and yes they have salads and soups. consult my gf if you want details on those food items. slims is so good i actually got up, walked over to my computer, logged on to yelp and wrote this second review/update. please advise, this is a big deal for someone like me. slims i look forward to you each sunday now. cheers! read more

Dear former Slim's I miss you soooo much I don't know what has happened to you. You once were a beautiful and friendly restaurant. Your prices were amazing Your food was amazing Your service was amazing I took you for granted. You were the highlight of the Ravenswood neighborhood But something changed 2-3 years ago (I think new ownership) You became overpriced You became unfriendly You became absolutely disgusting to look at... One of THE best halal spots this city has to offer! This place hits the spot every single time. Their staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, and their food is consistent and delicious. I don't know what they started doing differently this summer, but they've become my go to spot in the city for lunch and dinner. I just ate there last night and already craving their cheeseburger and pizza puff for lunch today (which btw is hard to come by these halal options in Chicago). If you haven't tried them out yet, you're missing out. Use their Toast app for your orders, it'll get you discounts. SO WORTH IT! read more

I live in this building. Right above Slim's. I used to order from Slim's very often. I'll NEVER order from Slim's again. The staff has completely changed for the WORST! VERY GHETTO!!! One worker came outside screaming at her boyfriend around closing time. I could hear her vulgar language loud and clear.. and so could my kids. The quality & quantity of the food has decreased. Everything changed overnight. I'm sorry Slim's, I loved you guys, but you got a little money and got cocky or something. I've never been to this place in person, only got delivery. But even then, this place is great! I love their smoothies. Actually, to be honest, I don't drink their smoothies. I place them into the freezer and eat it as ice cream later! It's delicious. I do recommend you try their burgers over their hotdogs because the hotdogs are very soggy through delivery. It's a quick delivery, too. Not that long of a wait. Even then, it's worth it. Try this place out! read more

I live in the neighborhood and this is exactly what we needed -Cheap, fast and delicious eats! The menu has great variety and they even put healthy/vegetarian options on the menu like black bean burgers and salads. For those not watching their waistline, try the italian sausage - definitely more tasty and more gourmet than other cheap eats spots and the fresh cut fries are unbeatable! One of the best spots to get a good tasting burger when you're on the go in Chicago. Especially if you eat halal food. Slim burger was on point. Tasted fresh. They got variety of options too like salads to milkshakes so if you're with a crew of ppl who all want different things to eat they'll be cool with this spot. The service received at slims is equivalent to what you would expect at joe shmoes 24 hour hotdog stand. The prices are that of an elegant dining establishment. If you charge 5 bucks for a milkshake a straw would be nice. All 3 sandwiches orders were made incorrectly. The staff can't be bothered to apply condiments so all my sauces came on the side. It is just a tragedy that a place once so great could drop to such depths. read more

I'm happy this place opened. It's exactly what our neck-of-the-woods needed! The curly fries with the cheese sauce was awesome. Along with all of the usual supects (awesome hotdogs, hamburgers), they also offer healthier alternatives. I had a ceasar salad that was as fresh as it gets...with shaved parmesan and homemade ceasar dressing! Crazy good. I will definitely be going back to this joint! read more

I had this place last week and man was it great. They have a friendly staff and good quality food. Their gyro sandwich and the pizza puff is what I went for. Then I got a Butterfinger milkshake and I must say it's one of the better milkshakes I've had (I've been told I know a good milkshake). It had the perfect amount of thickness and the ice cream was really good. Definitely recommend this place. read more

I don't know how they taste so good, but their burgers, shakes and pizza puff are my go to. My husband loves their curly fries and gyro. I like them better than other local popular chains. It's a great place to stop by for a bite after shopping or biking, really friendly environment. The best part is they are Zabiha Halal and recently reduced their prices!! read more

We went to Slim's at 9:30 at night and they were so nice. We just ordered fries for $1.99 and they were DELICIOUS! Slim's is a great place to go for a quick snack or big meal after a Cub's game at Wrigley Field. It might take a few minutes to get your food but it is worth the wait! The food is fresh and not very expensive. It was a great time. read more

We went around 7PM, we got old stale fries. I even put them in my air fryer to make them more crispy and it did not help. Mozzarella sticks were cold and not good. We got two cheese burgers that were soooo dry. Like McDonald's burgers are better. I have pretty low standards for food, and this was very disappointing. read more
