Was very disappointed. The hot dogs and fried mushrooms were OK. The root beer float was not included only a can of root beer. The French fries were cold and tough - I just threw them out. I called Slim's to ask for a refund for the float which I got but on the French fries they used as an excuse the traffic and that things can get cold. Other eateries find ways to pack food to keep it warm recognizing that things can cool down during the delivery. I won't be ordering from Slim's again. read more

We normally don't venture into the city too often so when were looking for a quick bite to eat all we saw were either diners or bars in the area. Having our son (who hadn't napped all day)with us we just wanted to get a quick bite somewhere and that's when we spotted Slims. We went inside and it seemed like your average hot dog joint. I ordered the Italian beef my wife ordered the Chicago Style dog and we ended up getting my son the same. So here's the part where I became impressed. My son was crabby and climbing over between the booths when we saw two guys who worked there take alittle mini basketball out and start shooting it at a little hoop hung on the door. My son started watching them and after alittle coaxing I told him to go over and watch them. One of the guys actually asked my son if he wanted to shoot the ball and proceeded to let him shoot 10-15 times until my son had enough to make him happy. Suffice to say my son was in a much better mood after that. On to the food now. The beef was very good and having had beefs at Portillio's, Jay's and countless other places I'll have to say this ranks right up there with the best. The thing that stood out was the bread wasn't your normal roll you find in every other beef spot but it had a nice crunch to it even after it was soaked from the juices. My wife found the hot dog very good and loved the fries. I ended up eating my son's hotdog and fries and found the fries (Hand cut?) to be nice and crunchy with a nice taste to them. To sum it all up we were very satisfied having spotted this place and if we were in the area again would definitely go back. Oh and the one downside was the fountain drinks didn't have CocaCola working and even though they had 20 oz bottles of it I still prefer my Coke from the fountain which somewhat disappointed me. read more

This used to be a good place to get a sandwich, but the quality has slipped. Recently had a grilled chicken sandwich and it was dry and rubbery, so I had to trash it. The fries are not always fresh , they seemed like they were from the previous night and had a lot of small pieces in my order. With a new baby at home, we have been ordering a lot of take-out. I was sick of pizza and Chinese. I wanted something quick and easy and found Slims on Seamless. Ordered a couple cheeseburgers and fries and was pretty satisfied. Pretty decent, simple burger. Fries were good too. I was most impressed though, that after ordering, Slim's called me up. Seamless is pretty lacking compared to Grubhub, and doesn't have options for toppings/extras, etc. (Or I don't know where those options are) So they called to find out what I wanted on the burgers. A very simple, yet awesome gesture. They could have just sent over burgers with nothing on them and I wouldn't not have complained. I will be a repeat customer for that reason. read more

I live across the street from this place, and it's a good thing I have enough willpower not to eat here more often because I would probably end up very large. Clearly, a place like Slim's is not the place for healthy eating, but when you do want to take a break from the rabbit food, you should definitely eat here. The food is always prepared to order, and it's always quite delicious. Admittedly, I tend to stick to a cheeseburger and fries when I go here, but I did have the grilled chicken once (very tasty) as well as the veggie burger (delicious as well). If there's one thing that could improve for me, it would be to get the French fries a little crispier (I LOVE crispy fries). So, on a lazy Sunday afternoon, a friend and I tried Slim's for the first time. After waiting quite a long time, we got food...not our food...well, some of our food. Instead of the Italian beef, cheeseburger, curly fries, and chili cheese fries, we got 3 hot dogs and curly fries. We called back and the driver returned. He says "My bad" and swaps bags with us. Inside this one is the Italian beef, cheeseburger, and chili cheese fries. We call back again because our curly fries are in the wrong bag. Initially, we were told that they'd send another order of fries out and (I pretty sure I heard) partially refund you. Five minutes after giving a card number for the refund and being told we'd be called back, we called back and were asked for the card number again and if $5 was ok, and that it's really busy because she's the only one working there. I loved this place for over a year. I order delivery through grubhub and on their menu they have a double cheeseburger (no option for no cheese); due to an allergy i always write a comment saying "NO CHEESE PLEASE (dairy allergy) thanks!" and that worked for over a year with my orders. They got it wrong one time and I didn't care and instead, the next time, put in the comment but also called them saying i have no problem paying the full price just no cheese please. they got it right for a while longer then. but the last 3 times, despite putting in the comment and despite calling into the restaraunt where they confirmed they wouldnt put cheese, i got the 7 dollar double burger with the cheese added on. I don't get it at this point. It sucks because i really did love this place for their prices and quality of food. But at this point its not worth the hassle. read more

What a great new place! They have only been open for a couple weeks & I've been there 3 times. It's nice to have a place in the neighborhood that has great food & a really warming atmosphere (2 flat screen t.v's & comfortable booths). The home-made chicken noodle soup was awesome (found out the noodles are also home-made). The Italian sausage & beef were great (extra juicy).
