Finally tried out the Quesabirria Jalisco and I'm obsessed! If you're looking for a new spot for birria, this is it. The staff is super friendly, and the service was quick, which is always a plus. The beef birria tacos were stacked and loaded with cheese and perfectly crispy. The consommé was delicious too, super flavorful and not greasy at all. Loved the orange sauce !! We also grabbed the El Michelin ribeye tacos, along with some rice, beans, and an horchata to wash it down. That horchata was on point ,not too sweet, just perfect. They've got a few protein options, so I'm definitely coming back to try more. Can't wait for my next visit! read more

We got the legendary Quesabirria Dinner--crispy, cheesy, slow-cooked beef perfection dunked straight into that rich, savory consommé. But the real showstopper? The Taco Michelin. Absolute flavor explosion. Washed it all down with the refreshing Horchata. Perfect comfort food! Reminder that this is a self-service restaurant. It has a small counter to order, sit wherever table is available and wait for your food. It is small, very casual and easily gets packed. Parking can be a challenge. read more

First of all, I would like to thank Quesabirria Jalisco for great customer service! It's so hard to run into nowadays!!! Nowwwww the fooodddd! Their quesabirria is very delicious! Nice and tender meat very cheesy! Comes with a delicious consume that's not greasy at all and limes on the side. Their pinto beans were good. They had a different flavor that I'm used to. It wasn't really heavy on cumin or onions and garlic, but still delicious. Now the star for me was the strawberry Horchata very creamy delicious not overly sweet. Soooo goood! You get two different sauces. The green one has some spice! Now they offer steak tacos with avocado which are good (they have another name for them but I forgot)! They prefer cash, however they do accept credit/debit you use pay a little more. Great eats and plain and strawberry horchata! A cute clean small place!!! They are always busy so you will wait at least a good 15 mins to get your food... read more

Food was good but don't over do it on the "avocado" that comes on the Michelin Taco. I think if you're gonna out ONE thin slice of avocado on the taco you might as well take it off the menu and up charge for avocado. read more

I was visiting from out of town (Los Angeles) and I can assert that the record here are bomb! This is a small, unassuming joint. They have some seating but you might be fighting for one. I got a tree tacos dish. 3 diff tacos. Chicken. Birria. And shrimp. And let me tell you to my surprise the shrimp was the best! Might be hard to tell from a photo but these are decent side tacos. I'm 6 foot 180lbs and could only eat about 2.5 with some beans before I was stuffed. These tacos come in double fried double shells full of cheese along with a filling consume. Downside is it's extra for rice and/or beans. Which is a bummer. I did get the beans and they were delicious. The only negative is we came around lunch time and it took nearly 45 min to get our food. There were quite a few hungry people waiting for their order at the counter. And the food seemed to expedite sloooow. So either plan ahead or maybe order ahead if you go here. read more

These were great tacos! There is limited seating inside and we only went to get a taste of the tacos. The consomé was chefs kiss - so flavorful and rich. The quesabirria has a little too much cheese for my liking but the flavors with the salsa were so yummy. Service was a little slow but may have just been at that time. read more

There are trendier places in Pilsen but this place is the real deal. Simple menu but the best quesabirria in Chicago right here. Order at the counter, wait 15-30 minutes and get a plate of the best quesabirria paired with a flavorful consume. This is a must stop! read more

Had to wait quite long for our order of 6 quessabirria tacos BUT IT WAS WORTH--SO GOOD! They make the tacos fresh, and it came ready and piping hot. The tacos are about $6 each. So good dipped in the consommé. Appreciated their strawberry horchata ($5) as well--reminded me of a liquid strawberry milkshake. Loved all the funny and heartwarming signs all around the restaurant. It's a bit smaller but we were still able to find seats. A casual restaurant experience with yummy food! read more

Absolutely love this birria joint in the heart of pilsen! I believe they only sell birria tacos or ramen which is good because it keeps option short and simple. The beef birria was amazing! Tasty, flavorful. Surf and turf was huge and delicious. They all come with cheese on top and the shells are juicy and crunchy. The birria juice is not greasy like the other ones I've tried before. Service was fast and friendly assuming it's a family owned restaurant. They have great music and cute decor inside that feel quiet homey. Absolutely loved them and will come back. read more

Amazing food and service! Such a rarity nowadays. All of the variations of tacos are a must try!

The quesabirria tacos are amazing! I went again during the afternoon when it wasn't as busy and they were able to grill them instead of frying them. I recommend getting both. The crunch is really nice but the regular grilled corn tortillas feel much healthier. The chicken pastor is extremely underrated too. Extremely flavorful and I might even like it more than the birria. The staff are super nice as well. There's seating indoors and outdoors. Overall the atmosphere is really nice and food is great! read more

SO YUMMY!!!! i literally adore this place so much so cute and welcoming and such lovely people.

Ordered delivery to break the monotony of my meal prep routine during the week for work. The order came in a timely manner and was still hot and crispy. I got the 8 pack. It comes with cilantro, onions, limes, red sauce (sweeter), green sauce and 2 consommé. I thought the tacos were filled pretty good, meat was tender and very cheesy but I wasn't really feeling the consommé and I felt the food needed more flavor honestly, I also don't like how they packaged the lime, onion and cilantro (I needed more of it and it gets stuck to the foil, small complaint). I'll update my review if I actually get a chance to go in myself but food is a solid 4 - ish. read more

If you're in Chicago and craving the ultimate quesabirria tacos, Quesabirria Jalisco in Pilsen is an absolute must-visit! These tacos are pure perfection - crispy, cheesy shells stuffed with incredibly tender, juicy beef birria that's packed with authentic Jalisco flavors. The consomé is rich, fatty, and bursting with spice from guajillo and chile de árbol, making every dip heavenly. I ordered the 4-pack with all the fixings - onions, cilantro, lime, and their amazing salsas - and paired it with horchata. Everything was generously portioned, perfectly seasoned, and not greasy at all. The cheese pulls are epic, and the meat just melts in your mouth. The staff is super friendly, the vibe in Pilsen is vibrant, and it's clear why this spot is hailed as having some of the best tacos in the city (often imitated, never duplicated!). Worth every penny and the potential wait - go early to avoid sell-outs. I'll be back weekly! read more

Where do I start.. I had high hopes for this place. I came in at opening (11:30 am) and it took nearly 20 minutes to receive my 3 tacos. You order at the kiosk so there's no interaction with the staff. There are four tables inside. Okay, so the food. I ordered 3 birria tacos. More is not always better. There was way too much meat and it was gamey which is uncharacteristic for beef. So unappetizing honestly. It doesn't need to be 90% meat. The consome had no flavor. And the sauces it comes with weren't any better. Super disappointing. read more

So, after hearing all the buzz about this restaurant...I honestly don't think it lives up to the hype at all. Now, don't get me wrong, you definitely get a ton of food for your cash. My wife and I ordered six quesadilla tacos, and we were full after eating just two. We also ordered a side of rice and beans, and I particularly enjoyed the rice. Overall, I would give it a 7 out of 10. If you're ever around the Pilson area, it's definitely worth giving it a shot. read more

I've said it once and I'll say it again, once you've had goat birria for breakfast on a street corner in Jalisco everything else pales in comparison. That being said, I enjoy trying them when I'm out and about on occasion. I got beef and shrimp. The shrimp was well cooked and well seasoned. I'm particular about when cheese can be with seafood and this was risk lol; I was pleasantly surprised. The beef was definitely the star of the show. It had those more traditional birria flavors you expect. The consomé was disappointing. None of the traditional taste profile and lacked depth; I could have done without it. The salsa verse was delicious. The food is prepared fresh to order and they gave free bottled water. It gets packed so expect a bit of a wait. I'd definitely return. read more

Amazing stuffed taco's with your choice of proteins. I choose the 6 pack, which means as the name states, 6 taco's with any protein which I decided to get is chicken, shrimp and beef. Instead of putting all the taco's in 1 basket, she divided the taco's by protein to their own basket which was easier to share. The tacos are a bit greasy and topped with melted cheese. the order comes with consume (soup) that you can use it to dip the taco's for more flavor but I did not use. Order comes with 1 oz of beans and rice. Overall, the food was spectacular and I would highly recommend. read more

Absolutely incredible tacos. I've been here more times than I can count, and have left reviews on some other sites, but just realized I hadn't left one on here!! I've tried everything on the menu, and have taken more friends from both in town and out of town here than any other spot in Chicago. Everybody always wants to try pizza when they visit, which I am happy to do, but I make sure to bring everyone here and they are always blown away. 10 stars out of 5. read more

Yum! Yum! Yum! I came in for my serving visit not realizing I had been here before--and what a treat it was! We ordered six beef birria tacos and two birria ramen bowls. Let me tell you, this restaurant did not skimp on the beef. These tacos were loaded with tender beef, gooey cheese, and a surprising crunch from corn chips tucked inside. The consommé was thick, rich, and absolutely delicious. Every dip of a taco into that bowl brought out the full flavor of the meat and crust. We ate so much that the ramen became tomorrow's bonus meal! The ordering process was simple--quick, easy, and breezy. The restaurant was buzzing with energy, still full from the Mexican Independence Day celebrations. We ended up sharing a table with strangers and even exchanged Facebook details by the end of the meal. That's how warm and open the space felt--safe enough for strangers to become friends over tacos. And the music? Perfect. I left with a full stomach and a full heart. Thank you for feeding both my body and my spirit. read more

The best quesabirria tacos ever. The strawberry horchata was so delicious too. The consome had sooo much flavor and it made everything 100x better. I've been to a few places to try quesabirria tacos and I've always had the problem of the consome being plain so I was extremely happy that the consome was flavorful and delicious. The restaurant on the inside was very welcoming and beautiful and I loved the music they were playing. The person at the front was very nice so that made everything perfect. Pilsen has so many gems and this place is one of them! Friendly and welcoming staff, cozy atmosphere and delicious food! The tacos are absolutely delicious, the cheese has a long pull and the consomé is flavorful. The only reason I gave it four stars is because after spending several months in Mexico, I think it will be hard to find a place that made these as good as I had in Mexico. But these are pretty close!!!! We arrived at 4:45, but by 5:30 this place was packed with a line out the door. I highly recommend getting here early if you want a table to diner inside! read more
