We are so fortunate to have a place like Birrieria Zaragoza in our city. Their customer service has always been outstanding. They truly go above and beyond to make sure they deliver great customer service. They'll do little things like offer you a free taco of their Birria while you wait for your food. Go to any market in Mexico and they'll treat you the exact same. Unfortunately for them their original Southside location is closed due to a fire but they'll be back hopefully soon! My son and daughter both ordered their Birria Tacos, my wife ordered their Quesabirria tacos and I ordered their Tazon Chico of their carnaza Birria of course. It also came with a side of their handmade tortillas. Everything tasted so fresh and the Birria was very delicious. So much flavor in the consome. Ordering the tazon is definitely they way to go here because you get the meat in the consome. But if you wanted meat only, you have the option of ordering their plato instead. Regardless of what you order here, you won't go wrong. Enjoy!
This place was awesome! I usually don't like goat so I was hesitant to try this place but it got such great reviews I finally popped by. I got birria tacos and one quesabirria on a Friday night. The portions were generous and I liked the meat to cheese ratio for my quesabirria. There is counter seating that faces the street which was nice! The employees were so friendly and food was fast and fresh. I enjoyed the condiments as well. Definitely try this place, it really impressed me and I am definitely interested in coming back!
Michelin Bib Gourmand and deserved! Simple menu, insanely good roasted goat. Homemade corn tortillas (you can tell). Fresh cilantro, onion, limes, hot sauce. Huge portions for the price. My friend said the horchata was the best she's ever had. Everything fresh, it's 100% worth trying.
This spot is worth the hype! The food is incredible, the staff are super friendly, and the restaurant is clean. I wouldn't rely on grabbing a quick meal here because whoever staffs the single register has to deal with phone calls, dine-in customers, and to-go customers at the same time. But if you have time, grab a seat facing the kitchen to watch the chefs work their magic and sip on their delicious horchata while you wait for your food that you will not regret. Two of us shared a small bowl of bone-in birria along with two tacos. The birria came with deliciously warm and fresh tortillas, along with a number of toppings so we could season the soup to our liking. The meat was so tender and carried the flavor of all the spices in the broth. The broth itself was stewed for so long that it was rich and almost creamy from all the fat and marrow that got incorporated over time.
So happy this place exists! Ordered Plato de cabeza, birriera quesadilla and horchata= it was so fire! Delicious delicious! The tortillas are freshly made and are perfect! The soup was also really good. The inside of the restaurant is small but they have bar seatings and the staff is so so nice!!

My husband and I both got the quesabirria combo and shared a horchata. The quesabirria was absolutely delicious and came with fresh toppings on the side like cilantro and onions. The consomé was unlike any I've had before and so flavorful. It's a great spot for a quick and delicious meal. The combo was the perfect amount for me, and while my husband was still pretty hungry afterward, we both really enjoyed everything. Overall, excellent food and welcoming service, we'll definitely be back.

Despite their well-earned fame, this spot keeps the humble, hole-in-the-wall energy intact, small, unpretentious, and staffed by some genuinely warm and welcoming people. Pop in, grab a seat, and let them do the rest. My fiancé and I shared the quesabirria combo, two quesabirrias with consomé, a Mexican Coke, and a Jamaica, and honestly, everything was amazing. The Jamaica alone deserves its own shoutout: perfectly balanced, not too bitter, not too sweet, and exactly what you need to cut through the heat of the food. The tacos came out piping hot, prepped right in front of us, loaded with cheese and packed with flavor. The consomé was warming, rich, and perfectly spiced, the kind of broth that makes you want to tip the bowl. I was told Birrieria Zaragoza has the best birrieria in the city... I'm no expert but I'd say they're definitely in the running! The birrieria was divine and the tacos too. None doubt, these are the best homemade tortillas I've ever had. Mariana took our order and was incredibly kind. The cabeza was delicious and flavorful without being too dry. 7/10. The tomato consomme was a bit bland and could have used more depth of flavor. 5/10. The quesabirria tasted good, but it wasn't crispy and was on the greasy side. I also wish the consomme had been more flavorful to complement it. 6/10. amazing, fresh food. great quick service!! not a tonnn of seating room (maybe ~20 bar stools), however so worth it. corn tortillas are made to order and were served hot! try the horchata, it was so refreshing and not sickeningly sweet. Mmmm yum yum this food was very like how the cool kids say, G.O.A.T.E.D it was yummy! Very Goat!! My tongue is a bit sensitive to gaminess but this meat was not gamey at all. Nice. I like sitting at the booth and staring them down as they make the food. They are nice because they allow me to stare and do not stare back. Or perhaps I just often go unnoticed. read more
Oh em gee!!! First time I ever ate goat meat birria it was the juiciest and very well seasoned and it was not complete without the consome sauce. It is a very small space but definitely worth trying their food. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. I saw them seasoning all the goat meat and they look so yummy. 100% if you are in Chicago- try the birrieria here! Small simple menu, but so much flavor! Menu was essentially a meat plate with tortillas or quesadilla style. I wish portions were bigger but prob just because it was so good. The cashier/server was friendly, thanked us for being there. It's a smaller corner restaurant with barstool style seating. 10/10! Everything about this place was great - starting with the service to the cozy diner atmosphere. We weren't sure what to order, so we got a full run-down of the menu. We ended up getting the quesabirrias combo, the large plate, and a horchata. The quesabirrias were incredible, but the plate was even better. The meat was super tender and juicy. Compact counter shop serving amazing meat. The vibe of the joint is like eating at a diner sans hamburger. But that's where it stops. Instead of milkshakes, Horchata. The menu is streamlined and they do birria well, like I would rate it in my top 5 and that's without trying the consommé. Instead of beef you'll find in most taco trucks and restaurants, it's the other ruminant meat, Goat. I'm a fan of goat and mutton, but one bite and you wouldn't think it was it. The flavor is relatively mild despite having a pepper based marinade. The meat melts in your mouth. The tortillas are fresh pressed and cooked to order. Even the tortilla is delicious and has an amazing mouthfeel. Overall an amazing dining experience and worth the wait. read more

My husband got this place recommended from a friend and not going to lie, I was not thrilled when we got there as we don't eat beef. BUT turns out it's actually all goat & halal meat. The place is fairly small with only barstool/counter seating. Host was so friendly and explained all the menu options. I only had the quesobirria which was delicious (tortilla, meat, mole), my husband had that and a taco which he said were both equally good. You get cilantro, onions, lime, chili peppers & picante sauce which you can add to give your food a little kick. Definitely feels a little hole in the wall but the food was so good I'm sure we will be back the next time we are in Chicago! read more
I have been to their south side location awhile ago, but I knew that I no longer would be in the area for any business or running errands. Therefore, I was very glad that "Birrieria Zaragoza" got a north side restaurant for me to check it out. The owner, Juan, was beyond nice and really engaged conversations with his patrons. Obviously, birria was their speciality and all menu items were surrounded by it. I'm a fan of anything soup, so having a bowl of consome was absolutely the right way to go. I remember that I only ordered two (2) birria tacos, with one (1) being cabeza. However, I ended up receiving three (3) tacos and thought they made a mistake! Well, I would appreciate anything gratis. In addition, I was treated with a bottle of apple soda (Sidral Mondet). I was on my postpartum diet and purposefully discontinued the consumption of sweetened beverages. Nevertheless, thank you for the treat and I always finished anything that was given to me...lol! My partner is quite familiar with Mexican food, yet I didn't think he used to have birria often (at least I didn't assume so). He liked what he had. It looked like "Birrieria Zaragoza" made it to our go-to restaurant list whenever we would be out and about. We had it again via Uber Eats on one of the weekends. However, the restaurant missed the horchata coffee yet I didn't think it was a deal breaker. A simple contesting on the charge through the app. wasn't difficult to do. With that being said, I still needed to tick and made this review fair for our Yelp readers. Regardless a little mishap that happened, I can't wait to go back to "Birrieria Zaragoza" and indulge myself with one of my favorite proteins! It's the best to dine in so that one can taste the tortilla with the right temperature and texture. The ambiance is the quick-service style. Paid Street parking can be spotted. read more
Birrieria Zaragoza is getting five stars simply because they have me feening for those goat off the bone tacos and that soup! First the location use to be a chicken place. It is a very small place. There is seating but maybe 20 people tops. But so what, my food is going home with me so I can eat in peace. All I can say is that for me, the goat meat is like a drug. There are days I literally crave it either as a taco or a soup. The consume with that goat meat is to die for. I usually get that, throw in the onions and cilantro and lime juice, and then add udon noodles and shredded Mexican cheese. So so good. The tacos are very good too. I love when I go in there and place an order, I get a free taco while waiting. I can't quite describe the tortillas, but they are corn and on the chewy side, but that is not a bad thing, The texture somehow works with the meat. The meat itself is so tender and flavorful, just amazing. I always want to eat more cause my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but two will be enough unless you have not eaten all day. Usually what I end up doing is getting rice/beans and guacamole from Lindo Guadalajara to make a meal. The quesadilla is very good with goat meat in it and that goat head meat is on a whole different level. This is a no frills place that only does a few items, but they do the soooo well! And the place is clean...happen to be driving past there early one Saturday morning and saw two young ladies scrubbing down the big pots and the grill. The staff is amazing and very friendly as well. They always greet me coming and going and are so sweet. The only drag about this place is the parking since it is on Broadway. Craving this stuff on concert nights is hard cause there is a crush of people in that little spot. But if you happen to be around, there, it is worth the wait. read more

Very affordable and yet strikingly appetizing place in uptown. Group of friends and I stopped by this place because of all the hype and we can say it's justified- easily going on the list of one of my top restaurants. Size wise the restaurant is a little compact and tight for large groups but other than that there are no complaints. We ordered the tacos, Birria, and Tazon Grande. All of them were so juicy and all the flavors came together nicely. The cooks also are super friendly and try to get to know you personally which is an added bonus of interaction. Condiments included when you order are cilantro, small chili peppers, lime, onions and hot sauce. A must have to add those to any of the dishes. read more
Normally I'd say no to another Birria restaurant. But my friend insisted I try Birrieria Zaragoza. And my goodness was he right! This was the best Birria I've ever had. They only serve the goat meat here. And the dish comes broken down as in they give you the ingredients and you assemble it yourself. The goat was just amazing in the handmade tortillas. The tomato salsa, with the onions, cilantro, and lime just came together so well. Don't forget to get the consume for dipping. The service was very friendly as well. and they would ask if you needed more tortillas. It's a quant space. Sitting at the bar was really fun and a must experience. read more
