Finally made it here after a local influencer named their carne asada the best in the city... Wow wow wow We ordered drinks which were on happy hour. I loved the sangria. Guacamole was flavorful and fresh and I would definitely order again. We had a mix of tacos. I really enjoyed the poblano and cheese, and the pork shoulder (a secret surprise delight, definitely try it). The carne asada was very very good but not quite to #1 status to me. Nevertheless I would return again and again because overall the meal was delicious and a good value. Service was solid although the team seemed spread thin. So I heard about L Patron on a independent food reviewer YouTube channel , focusing on the best taco in Chicago ,Well just so happens L"Patron won according to the show so I had to check it out , my favorite is El Milagro in Little village so I'm always looking for someone to beat it, Even though it was a great taco , I'm Not on board , I had 4 steak tacos , reason for 4 is they are fairly small at 4.50 a piece , The steak was tender and of a higher quality so I'll give them that , I also had rice and beans which were served in a cup and kept in a glass holder , ready for purchase , good but just ok. , The staff was friendly enough and the ambience of the restaurant is colorful and comfortable , I can't help but mention this is my second time coming here, first time was a flop because they have the hours listed til 11 pm and I showed up at 9:30 , and it was closed , then the second night I went , figuring the 1st night was just a fluke , I tcaught them before they closed the doors once again at 930 , I would of been pretty upset if I took the drive out of my way , only to find out they were closed before the scheduled closing time , that's just rude and unprofessional read more

Our mission to find amazing tacos lead us to L' Patron. We were out grocery shopping and decided to pop in for a quick lunch. The wait staff was friendly and we were sat immediately. The place was pretty packed for a Sunday afternoon. There was a nice size dining room with probably 10-12 tables. We ordered watermelon margaritas which were bomb. I ordered 3 asada tacos and my wife got an asada and fish taco. The asada was super tender and marinated well. I could've used a little more char but overall still an amazing taco. They really stuff these bad boys to the brim. My wife said that the fish tacos were some of the best she's had in the city. Cute local spot with free parking all around. Came in on a Thursday around 6 and got seated right away. Between two of us we had the chips & guac, al pastor burrito, al pastor taco, steak taco & the shrimp taco. The steak and al pastor tacos with the standouts but everything was great! The TLDR- Good Food/Sub Par Service/Stay Away if You Have A Shellfish Allergy THE GOOD-First off I'll say the quality of the meat used in this place was top notch and I didn't mind paying for it AT ALL! The food we had was great! My wife loved her chicken tacos and my Torta was BOMB. The bread they used wasn't what I would call a traditional bolio bread but it was soft on the inside and had a crisp outer crust that was great. Steak was tender and well seasoned and grilled to perfection. Corn in a cup was decent and both of the salsas were delicious. The green and the red both had a good amount of spice and flavor and it was hard to choose a favorite. Ok unfortunately time for the bad....... Service was king of poor. No greeting at the door to tell us wether it was seat yourself or wait to be seated so we just sat at an empty table. Took a while to get menus and we were never given the water that the waitress offered to bring us. My wife has a shellfish allergy that is severe so a lot of the menu was unavailable to her because they cook the shrimp on the flat top right next to a lot of the menu. They did however not bring her the rice and beans that she ordered because the chef decided for us that she couldn't have it. I'm assuming it was too close to the shrimp or too close to the flat top. We don't know for sure because when the food came out they didn't give us an explanation why we didn't receive it. It's rice and beans and shouldn't have anything to do with shellfish but it'll remain a mystery I guess. Even after we asked where her rice and beans were they just said the chef didn't want her to have it because of her allergy. They actually said they don't usually serve people with allergy's which I feel like maybe they meant something else and that just came out wrong. I'm all in on being overly cautious but some kind of explanation would have been appreciated. Once more tables had cleared out we saw customers being greeted, water brought to tables and just generally being treated a little better so maybe our waitress was just having a rough day I don't know. read more

And on top of everything when I expressed this concern she said they were so "fine" not having my business anymore even tho I really did enjoy coming.
