Steak and Eggs Over Easy that I have ordered was absolutely great, it had a lot of flavor and was absolutely delightful. Whenever I think the staff can not possibly top themselves they do. My first time coming to this place. I saw plenty of positive reviews and decided to check it out. My girlfriend and I came on a Saturday afternoon for weekend brunch. You order at the counter, and they will give you a number. You sit where you want and they will bring the food to you. We got the French Toast with Maple Syrup and Brown Rice Bowl. Both were delicious! I personally liked the Brown Rice Bowl more. I will definitely come back here next time if I am in the area. I want to try more of what they have to offer. read more

We've been fans of Slimak ever since discovering it via GrubHub -- and while we haven't yet eaten at the restaurant itself, their breakfasts have become one of the brightest spots in our current stay-at-home circumstances. Everything fresh, meticulously prepared, and with enough eclectic variety to please even the most jaded foodie. Their old-fashioned oatmeal is comfort food at its best, both creamy and hearty, sweetened with a dollop of dulce de leche and generously graced with sliced almonds and chunks of juicy green apple; my husband is especially fond of their overstuffed ranchero egg wrap with black beans and chicken apple sausage -yum! The seasonal fruit cup especially is not to be missed - besides fresh pineapple, pear, strawberries, blueberries and the like, they usually include various gourmet fruits like blackberries, figs, persimmons, blood oranges, and a few that we couldn't identify but were delicious. Slimak's beverages are also wonderful - in addition to excellent coffee, they make amazing matcha frappes, as well as a beautiful caffeine-free blue latte made from the clitoria flower (a.k.a. butterfly pea flower) and flavored with real vanilla. Amazing stuff! Prices are a bit high but not overpriced, considering the quality, uniqueness, and large portion size of their food. This place is a great find! A super chill and lovely cafe nestled between bodegas and 99cent stores on an otherwise grim stretch of 4th ave. The menu is nicely varied. I had a custom omelette that was yummy! My coworker/friend had a sandwich that he said was filling and delicious! It's a perfect place to meet friends and chat. The service is friendly and fast. I walk across Historic Green-Wood Cemetery to eat here on the weekends. The pastries are huge and beautiful, and the food is all top notch. Especially recommend the eggs Benedict and the dirty chai. If I lived in the Sunset, I'd be here every day. read more

The cold brew was one of the best I have had. We snacked on some scones and croissant which were yummy. Also they gave us a free sample of a pulled pork sandwich that was delicious the meat had the right amount of seasoning and a slight kick to it, really enjoyed it. They get their coffee from a roaster in Williamsburg which I really enjoyed. Will be back for brunch for sure! To top it off the service here was great and very welcoming. I had such hopes for this place. It's a beautiful cafe well done interior very homie. However, the food was not great. The omlete I ordered was tasteless and rubbery. The homefries were not hot and they were chewy. The toast was over toasted and not buttered no jam provided. The worst was their watered down orange juice?! Plus, you had to order it all at the counter and I paid 21 bucks for this meal. :( The desserts looked amazing but I'll have to see what it taste like later since I ordered it to go. As someone who gives a hoot about the environment, I was very specific when I asked the lady at the register for NO PLASTIC, yet she made my drink in a plastic cup with a lid and straw, and then poured it into a glass cup when she realized what I had said earlier. This place is trying way too hard. The decor is untasteful and cheap with pictures of farm animals or something like that when their meat, eggs, and milk come from factory farms- therefore they are misleading their customers. There were tons of people in the cafe waiting to be interviewed for medical jobs with a small staff of people doing the interviewing.
