Got food late but they still apologized and gave me a brownie I'm not one to complain but that ment a lot

I had a very disappointing experience. My wife and I ordered over $80 worth of food and desserts through the drive-thru. When we got to the window, my wife realized she had forgotten to ask for a ranch packet and politely asked if they could add one to the order while they were handing us the receipt. The manager said, "Okay, it's 40 cents. I'll run your card." I was honestly surprised and asked if they were really going to run my card for 40 cents after we had just spent over $80. Not only was it an inconvenience for us, but the card processing fee would likely cost the restaurant nearly as much as the ranch itself. The manager said yes, so I told them to go ahead and refund my money because I would rather take my business elsewhere. Instead of processing the refund, I was offered a gift card with my refund on it for a future visit. At that point, I was left wondering why I would want a comp card to come back after the situation had already been handled so poorly. This was never about the 40 cents--it was about customer service and taking care of customers who had just spent a substantial amount of money at your business. Losing an $80+ order over a single ranch packet shows a lack of customer appreciation and poor judgment from management. Very disappointing experience, and unfortunately not one that makes me want to return. read more

I was very impressed. This was my first visit to slim chickens. The store was so clean. From other reviews I see it has been open about a year or so. The wings were far bigger in my opinion than others had rated them when they opened. I got the 3 wings and three tenders. My mom did as well and my dad got the four tender plate. They have a huge selection of sauces. The food came out fresh and hot. I got my wings tossed in Buffalo sauce and blue cheese and slim sauce on the side. The slim sauce is a peppery Mayo/ketchup based sauce. Very good. The fries were seasoned well so no need for salt or pepper. The Texas toast was good. There was a hint of garlic flavoring the bread. My mom ordered their signature dish of strawberry shortcake in the glass jar. It was very rich. I would like to try their grilled chicken strawberry salad w the vinaigrette and pecans. The whole crew was super. The cashier taking my order was very patient as I had a few questions being that it was our first time here. A few people checked in to see if we were well. Drinks are self serve I just had a soda but my dad enjoyed the peach tea and my mom the special lemonade. They also offered raspberry tea. All in all it was a great experience. I will go back. They had a patio but it was too hot when we went a bit over 90 to try that out. Very impressed here. read more

Just finished meeting my son for lunch here at Slim Chickens on Valley Mills. We've been here a few times over the last couple of years and received pretty fair food. The cashier greeted us warmly and quickly took our order. The store was clean and the drink counter well stocked and maintained. The layout and decor is typical for this chain. We had wings, fries, and tenders with my favorite red chilli sauce, bleu cheese dip, and ranch. Everything was ok but a little over cooked and dry. When this location first opened their tenders were plump and juicy, so this was a little disappointing. Overall, I like the variety of sauces at Slims but will probably opt for that other chain chicken tender place the next time. read more

I've known about this place far too long and missed out on eating here. The food is great but certainly unseasoned BUT what they lack in seasoning they make up for in a wide array of great sauces. I've been going to slim chickens in waco for the past year or so and I have nothing but good to say, a slept on meal is their buffalo chicken mac n cheese. Not to long ago I introduced my dad to the place, at first he only got the chicken sandwich I introduced him to the buffalo chicken Mac and chees. By far, the best marinated/shaken chicken tender you will ever put in your mouth. Spicy bar-b-que is my personal favorite but habanero is a close Second of you like sweet and spicy. So i wanted to try this place a couple months ago and was pleased with the tenders but the fries were soggy. So next visit i asked for well done fries so they would be crispy(i saw it on the ticket) so all good right? Well, they were extra well done alright, just not the fries but the tenders. Like jerky! Which leads me to today. Had to pick up something at and decided ill give them a try and explain the crispy well done fries. Repeated myself at the drive thru. There was even a guy taking payment outside. I told him about my problem with the crispy well done is NOT for the tenders but for the FRIES. He calls it in. I hear on his radio yeah got it. Feeling good now. Got to the window asked again crispy well done fries and it was assured to me. I get home and sit down at the table and GEEZ those tenders were dark and well done. The fries soggy. I just dont understand. Why this is even being served. How does this company think that status quo for fries is soggy? SMH. Its a real shame too since their tenders are really good... Side note you might be able to fool people in Oklahoma thats Texas toast. But when you serve a thin piece of toast the size of a slider here in Texas and call it Texas toast you should be ashamed!!! I was over by there and I noticed the line in the drive thru wasn't that long. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and 3 tenders. No meal or drinks. It was just under $10. And it took about 10 minutes to get the food. The food was hot. The tenders were a little tough and very thin. The seasoning was fair. Not much breading so I guess that's where they get there name. I got hot sauce with it and it was good and hot. The bun on the sandwich was soft and good but again the chicken was very thin and a little dry. Will I go back? Probably not. I really wanted to like Slim Chickens, we even sat for 40 minutes in the wait line for our order. When we got back home and started distributing food, we realized only one of the orders was correct, and every bit of food we got was soggy and cold (we live about 8 minutes from Slim Chickens so the commute home was not the issue). The fries tasted stale, and the two wraps we had (which we didn't order) came with two nugget sized "tenders" each. I was so looking forward to the Korean BBQ classic meal and ended up with a wrap that I can't even describe the flavor of (most definitely NOT Korean BBQ). I'm giving them 2 stars simply because they're new and I hope they redeem themselves. But being completely honest the cold soggy chicken and stale fries left us very unsatisfied. Good was really good, the experience was a bit of a challenge. Tried to order a chicken sandwich, but they didn't have any (around 5pm). This was a bit of a disappointment. Ordered their "gigantic French fries" which came in a huge box, but the actual amount of fries barely covered the bottom of the box. Would've easily fit into any large French fry box from most fast food places (and given the fact they charged $6.99 for this item, I felt very disappointed). I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt by giving them 2 stars because I know they just opened, and any new restaurant that just opens is gonna have challenges. The food was pretty good, but I was forced to get something I didn't want to get because what I really wanted (any chicken sandwich) wasn't available and I was already trapped in the drive-thru so I had to proceed. I may go back, I may not. I for sure won't go back thru the drive thru until they've been open for a little bit. We waited for about 40mins and left disappointed. But I will reiterate, the food was pretty good. But the experience.... If I go again in the future and have a better experience, I'll for sure update this review. read more

Slim Chickens is my FAVORITE fried chicken! It is always crispy and fresh with perfectly seasoned flavor. The chicken & waffles are great. I also enjoy the fried pickles! The jar desserts are very good. I love that they have cherry coke. They have lots of dipping sauces to choose from, and the ranch is delicious. The staff is very friendly and wait time is quick. I love slim chickens but this particular restaurant seems to never replace their fry oil. The quality has gone down steadily over the past couple of weeks and I'm not going to return to this location. All the chicken tasted burnt even if it wasn't because the fry oil has been burnt and they refuse to replace it. I was not able to finish my food because of how bad it was. I'll always try something once to at least support the new establishment. Judging by all the cars, it's got to be good, right? After weeks of seeing long drive thru lines seemingly all day and night, Saturday around 2:30pm seemed like a nice open period with less cars so I thought I'd finally try it. I decide I want to try the chicken sandwich of course, but she tells me "sorry, all chicken sandwiches were sold out" (on a Saturday lunch?!). First impressions, out the window.... so I ended up with a grilled chicken salad and two 5 piece tender meals. Total around $31. The Slim's Salad looked pretty good size with grilled chicken and drink for around $8.49. My Slim's Meal had 5 tenders with fries and Texas toast and drink for $8.99. Mom I think liked the salad and it appeared to be a decent size for the price so no complaints there. She barely only ate half. Now for the tenders...the name of the restaurant is Slim Chickens so obviously chicken is their signature dish so it has to be good right? Unfortunately, no....the tenders were dry and tough with a lot of crunchy batter to bite into. A far cry from Bush's/Chick Fil-A/Raising Canes/Chili's/Cotton Patch (I know I'm missing a few in this list, a lot of places I haven't tried their tenders). Texas toast was not Texas-sized at all, but just basic slices of normal bread size. The fries were nothing special. The bleu cheese dip, however was really good. I also tried their macaroni and cheese and that was really nice and gooey and creamy. In a market already saturated by chicken establishments, especially in Bush's Chicken country, competition is tough and expectations are high, so if chicken is your specialty and in the name of your restaurant, it needs to be standout quality...currently it is not, at least not on July 10 at 2:30pm. I really enjoy this place for several reasons. It's always clean, the chicken tastes great due to a lighter breading, and the management has engaged me each time at the register to make my experience good. We have been several times and my boys really enjoy their lemonade. This past time I had ordered drinks for my boys and didn't notice they had run out of lemonade. So my boys were a little disappointed. I asked the manager if he could do anything because we purchased drinks but they ended up drinking water. He said I have two chocolate milkshakes I can give you. I said that would be great! But he didn't stop their and added their strawberry cheesecake jar. I had never tried that item and it was amazing. Went to day and service was horrible, chicken was cold and I couldn't even cut it with the knife I got. One of my tenders was a wing. And the fries were cold. Like day old, not just like warm. None of my food was warm except my Mac & Cheese. I won't be back and won't be recommending. Nothing went right. I ordered curbside and waited 10 min in the curbside parking and the guy that brought it out said I should have called but the email or app didn't tell me to a call. Slim's is a new-ish place that was built on a doomed location. The location should be good, but - like most doomed locations - different eateries come and go. None seems to make it more than 6 months. Alas, Slim's fits the mold. Curious because of the catchy name, I stopped there this evening. The 6 piece wings dinner was about 3 wings short. The wings came from a chicken that must have been starved. I have never seen such scrawny wings. I ordinarily can eat 2 wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. I ate all 6 of Slim's wings and a large serving of potato salad. Add a container of cole slaw, a slice of toast and some soggy french fries and you will pay $16+. I had high expectations going into this new adventure, which seemed to be a great stop for some fried chicken and a variety of sauces. As I pulled up I gazed upon their massive menu, literally wanting to try a little bit of everything since they offer multiple chicken varieties and wraps. My wife got the spicy barbecue wrap and I got the 5 piece chicken tender meal which comes with a drink, fries and two sauces of your choice off of their sauce menu which has 17 options I believe. Their customer service was phenomenal and I felt good paying $20 for two meals. And here's where everything started spiraling downhill- as I opened the box when I got home, I looked at some soggy fries saddened to be sitting next to soggy chicken as well. I thought this could be redeemed until I looked under the wet chicken to find a piece of toast that was probably buttered 3 weeks ago and flattened by whatever heathen made it. I then decided to open the sauces, the SLIM sauce and ranch. I'll start with the positives and say that the ranch was great, but the SLIM sauce tasted like the byproduct of expired ketchup and my grandmothers bunion sweat. This sauce is literally the abandoned stepchild of sauces, and that's putting it nicely. On to the next meal-- the wrap. On the board in the drive thru line it looks like God himself wrapped a crispy piece of chicken in a warm, tomato infused, yellow tortilla kissed by Christ himself but instead we received something that looks like it had been hit by a North Korean tanker. Again, the fries looked like they belonged three thousand leagues under the sea only to be discovered by the same people that found the titanic, and the toast yet again looked like it was suffocated and sat on by Slim Chicken himself, then pissed on in the form of butter. My wife got the mango habanero which had the after taste of hydrochloric acid mixed with pop rocks and also got the distasteful SLIM sauce which is truly a detriment to society. I'm sad to say I ate every bite of my meal out of hunger, not satisfaction. I hate to say this, but I would not send my dead hamster to Slim Chickens for chicken, or even an attempt at revival with the pheromones produced by the toxic gas sauce known as mango habanero. I felt like I needed to go to church and have a demon cast out of me after what it did to my bowels as well. I created a toxic gas bomb because of this food that would put any major nuclear war attack to shame. If I could, I would ask for a refund or at least some pepto bismol because I may now chronically suffer because of this experience. I am being gracious with two stars only because the people are so incredibly nice and happy that you're trying the new Waco spot. Overall, Slim Chickens in Waco is the worst of all the chicken joints. read more
