This is by far my favorite of all the Skyline locations. The owner George and I go way back... he got his start right down from my childhood home in Silverton on Plainfield. They just seem to do something unique here that other locations can't match. I'm sure the experience of these fine gents, that have been here everyday in a fresh white shirt and tie for years, don't add up to the experience of 10 other locations combined. It's a testament to the owner that their are so many lifer's in here... or perhaps family? I'm a 3-way (don't get your hopes up ladies) and one plain cheese coney kind of guy. Be sure to poke a hole in your oyster crackers and load them up with hot sauce. I'm old school and don't think I've ever ordered anything else they offer on the menu. Every once in a while I'll go crazy and order a 5-way but a burritto, fries, wrap or salad, loaded spud, etc.... just isn't in my vocabulary when dining at Skyline Chili. The most important thing to remember after a night of drinking.... they're open till 3:30 am Fri-Sat. If I had a dollar for every time as a kid we'd come in here loaded and left sober.... Food was good as skyline usually is. But now let's talk atmosphere. 11:30 Friday night and store is 2/3 empty. The floor is dirty, a cook is eating while working, a waitress is putting food into her mouth while she is walking and talking behind the counter and another cook is kneeling on a stool between making 5 ways. I do not recommend going through the drive through, the cashiers at the window are very rude. I asked if she could have sure they wrap my chilito in foil as it should be and she had and attitude and said they put it in a box. That's as far at the conversation went. She had such an attitude she didn't even bother to ask me if I wanted hot sauce or crackers or napkins, I got none of them. read more

Love Skyline, but this location was awful. We walked in and no one acknowledged us. We sat down for about 10 minutes, and no one came to check in, take our order, or even let us know it would be a minute, despite the waitress walking by multiple times. People who sat down after us were served before us. Walked out and no one said anything either. We will not be back to this location. read more

We did it! We checked another food bucket list item off. Overall I was very happy with my meal. My take away Points being I don't think I was ready for the seasoning on this chili. I decided last night was the last time I'd ever patronize the Kenwood Skyline Chili "no matter how much I may crave a coney!" This is not about the food. Skyline is my favorite, always has been and I can't imagine changing that opinion anytime soon. This is about no matter how many years I've gone to this location and no matter who has waited on me day or night, I have never felt welcome or treated like I've seen and heard others being treated. I've ignored it, I've called it my imagination, tried small talk, I've smiled, made my order and put aside the not rude but distant and almost not caring if I spent my money there feeling I've gotten EVERYTIME I've walked through that particular Skyline locations door. Once I had a coupon for a "buy one get one free" Coney deal. Ok, I had no clue it didn't include that store and I didn't ask if they would take it anyway. There was no offer to honor it like most places would have in the name of good customer service and I can live with that but I was made to feel as if I was trying to pull one over on them by even presenting it. The woman turned it over and over as if I had somehow taken time out of my life to counterfeit a coupon for a free hot dog worth all of $1.85! I myself and the coupon to the Oakley store and was treated great (same can be said for the WONDERFUL Reading location.........great staff at both Oakley and Reading Skylines and I need to review them saying as much) Last night I decided to stop once again at the Kenwood Skyline on my way home from work and the gentleman (I assume an owner.......older, accent) was just as unwelcoming as the lady before IF not more! I placed my order and to had to ask for everything that Oakley and Reading automatically ask the customer for or simply give without being asked such as hot sauce and crackers. In clarifying something, the man was impatient and just dismissive and short. It was a to-go order and I wanted chili separate so my coney's wouldn't get soggy on the way home. I don't believe he was crazy about putting it in a separate container ($) or giving me a separate bag of cheese ($). Whatever the reasoning, he wasn't friendly but sure was to the older couple "who looked like him" that came in while I was leaving. In the grand scheme of world issues this is so not at all important but I still feel like I needed to say it. This Skyline is almost walking distance to me and the next local isn't but, I'm done. I will no longer spend my money somewhere I've been given the impression it doesn't matter to them if I do or don't. read more

My favorite Skyline just for the fact is at the top of my street, but there's also a lot of other things to like about this location. Always great service here and they also have Diet Dr. P, which is a rarity around here. Unlike some other Skyline's, they are very generous with the chili portions and cheese. They are also awesome because they are one of the dying breed of late night Skylines. They are open til 3AM on the weekends which is a perfect after drinking snack! read more

I love Skyline, but this is hands down the worst one in the city. Nobody who works here could get an order right if their life depended on it. It's almost comical at this point. This is the closest one to our house, so we come here for convenience, but seriously these are the least skilled human beings on the planet with the worst attitudes. Skyline, Columbus, OH: newly open (~2 months), so very eager to succeed and please. Their grated cheese tastes and has the texture of real cheddar, unlike that of every other Skyline I've been to (I thought rubbery, artificial-to-the-core cheese was just a given quirk at all Skylines). Boyfriend thinks the weenies and buns are fresher than he's ever had, and he's from Cincinnati so he's had a lot of Skyline in his day. I wasn't too sure about the chocolate + chili combination, but WOW. They clearly know how to make fabulous chili! Although I got a simple hot dog, I also recommend getting the spaghetti plate. If you don't like tons of cheddar cheese,make sure to speak up. This location has a great atmosphere, the service is quick and the price is definitely right. My only complaint is the bathroom situation. Both available women stalls were a bit dirty and one was out of toilet paper. Being from Chicago and just recently had my first Cincy chili experience. What a trip. I sat at the central counter and took in the entire old school style of having lunch with the locals... And I've been staying up at nights trying to understand the appeal of Skyline 5-way chili ever since. The chili was alright and I love the courteous free refills of soda drinks but I guess I'm more fascinated with the lore, following, and business model of Skyline Chili than with the chili and other menu items themselves. This Skyline is by far the best in town. The employees have been there a long time and run a tight ship. It's the quickest and most flavorful Skyline around. Call me crazy but it just tastes better here. You never have to flag down a waitress even when they are crazy busy. They are always getting refills, checking on your needs and bring a check on time. This place has the worst customer service of any place i've ever known. They messed up my order. I called them shortly after i got home and realized it was wrong and they said they would give me a credit. I went in the next night as I had been working all day until 11 pm and it was the only place close that was open. I ordered the same thing and asked about my credit and they said it wasn't in the book. I spoke with the manager and he refused to resolve the issue and blamed me saying I wanted free food. the order was $10 might I add. I have been to this place literally 1000+ times. I've been coming here with my dad since I was 4. It is by far my favorite restaurant. It has a small town diner vibe, and the workers have always been friendly. A lot of people here know be my name and it's so nice to get that sort of welcoming when you walk into the place. The service is always super fast, and the food has easily been the most consistent of any restaurant I have ever been to. I've been to probably 20 different skyline's in the area, and this one truly stands out as the best. I love the way that it operates like an old school diner, and most of the workers there have been there since I was a kid, so you get to know who's serving you. Of all the Skyline's I've been to, this one and the Clifton location are the best, but the Clifton location is a distant second. I've brought so many people here over the years, and whenever family or friends are visiting from out of town, I always make sure to bring them to Skyline during their visit. I went through the drive-thru tonight and was one of the last cars in line and the drive-thru girl was amazing! The car behind me was really upset because she told him "Sir I'm sorry but we are no longer accepting orders" it had just turned 11 and the gentleman behind me got super upset and started cussing and screaming at her. She handled it like a pro! After about 20 seconds of getting yelled at she told the man that she would take his order at which point he pulled out of line and started screaming and cussing at her from the parking lot. She closed the window until he let. She apologized to me for what had just happened and I just felt bad for her because of how some costumers probably treat her. Love Skyline! Ordered my usual 4-way with beans plus a coney with mustard no onions. The only complaint is that the cheese on the 4-way was not as fluffy as usual. Seemed like the bottom of the bag or something :o( But the cheese on the coney was the usual fluffy, thinly shredded bliss :o) Waitress was nice but could have been friendlier. It's right down the street from Kenwood Town Center Mall, but at the same time, its not right there like all the other restaurants. and O.M.G... this is the absolute worst parking lot I think I've ever been in... seriously... it's atrocious. I will say i've never sat down to eat here, but I walk in and place a to go order quite a bit. Sometimes it's super fast (which seems to be when the dining room is packed) and other times I'll wait quite a long time... (again mainly when there's like 2 other people in the entire place). This location does charge me for noodles when I add them to my chilito, but it's only a minimal upcharge, which I'm ok with in this instance. But again. When I was eight years old, my father moved from Kenwood to Mount Lookout. There are several Cincy style chili joints closer but THIS is the one we always visited. I even remember when it was in the old location where the pizza place is now. Been going here for decades and will continue as long as they're here. This place is an institution to those of us that grew up in this part of town. Our parents took us here as kids. We came in on Friday nights after football games in high school. Yuck! I ordered chili fries and the chili here is so gross! If you are not from Ohio then definitely don't go there. It's a weird combination with cinnamon and I don't even know, but it's not good.... apparently they were supposed to let me try if before getting food and they didn't offer that. Skyline always tastes good which makes up for the poor service. We were waited on fairly quickly, but the food came out all wrong. First, our waitress completely forgot my 3-way. I ordered a small 3-way and a plain cheese coney. The 3-way was forgotten altogether. My boyfriend ordered 3 cheese coneys all the way and a chilito with sour cream and spaghetti. They added a TON of spaghetti and didn't put in any sour cream. Our waitress dropped the food off at our table then left. She did not ask if everything looked okay or anything. She never checked up on us until she brought us the check. She didn't ask how our meal was, but instead she just said "I'm just gonna leave this here for you guys" and we had to ask for my 3-way and some sour cream for the chilito. She didn't comp us or apologize for the mistakes. She simply added whatever was messed up onto the bill, gave us the correct food, then proceeded to go on break. I visit here every two weeks and am disappointed by the poor service each time I come. I've gotta find a new location. Waitress is always slow and in No hurry to refill drinks or be courteous. Probably so many customers that service doesn't really matter. Food is great but service sucks. If you are a fan of skyline then this one will not disappoint. Always consistent and fast. The "extreme" cheese keeps me coming back. However my main issue with skyline is the prices. For what it is the prices are high. Only other complaint would be the parking or lack there of. read more

(Kenwood) Not a good deal!!!. I love skyline with that said, do not go to the one in Kenwood. I couldn't believe how small the portions are. I wish I would have taken a picture. I asked the waitress if there was a noodle shortage that I wasn't aware of. She looked at me and just shrugged it off. That's the cheapest part of the meal, that and the meat sauce. I love Skyline without a fail and this is the worst (and closest to me, unfortunately) location. I will go out of my way to avoid this Skyline. They continuously close their doors long before they are supposed to... if they don't want to be open that late they should update their hours. One of the few that serves skyfries and garlic bread. This is the one I frequent the most when I'm in town. I live around the corner from it, so as a teen this was the go-to place. Excellent service. Great food. As most have said, when you go to Cincy...you HAVE to hit this one in Kenwood. read more
