Worst Skyline in the tri-state. I have been ordering there because they are very close to home but no more. portions are inconsistent but always less than other Skylines I visit. Today I ordered a 3way with chili on the side. when I got home (5 minute drive) and opened the package the spaghetti was cold and there was not enough chili to cover half of it! I hesitate to write this review because I clearly don't understand the praise this place gets but I'm not from here. So please understand this review is from an outsider attempting to try new things. I understand why people like it. If you grew up here and ate this as a child, you would likely love it because children have terrible taste buds. As you grew older and matured, you would likely feel overwhelming nostalgia in wanting to taste this flavor profile. The nostalgia comes from the lack of this flavor profile existing in any other dish. I say flavor profile because it is a complex flavor. This is not a simple dish to taste. So as a native of this area you will always long for this flavor. Objectively, and without any feelings of nostalgia, the chili flavor is terrible. It truly tastes like people confused a few different recipes and made this abomination of flavor. No one would ever dare make this confused flavor in any other dish which is why you can only get it here. In fact, as I was instructed, this dish is only palatable with a ton of other things masking the atrocity of each bite. Admittedly, the cheddar cheese and oyster crackers are great, and as you add more, the mistake you've made in eating this becomes less apparent. I can best describe the flavor as the after taste after throwing up a previous meal consisting of good chili (sans beans) and a cinnamon roll. Just tried this place on a work trip and it was really good. It came recommended by locals and it kept up with its reputation. It's open late which is also another great convenience. I had a coney bowl and the chili was really tasty. There a couple hotdog sausages in there and LOTS of cheese. In fact, I probably could of done with less cheese, but that is their signature. They have Shredded Cheese on almost everything. I also got their fries and they were pretty good too.This location has a a drive-thru for quick eats and the prices are incredible, really good bang for your buck. If you're in Cincinnati, maybe in the fall or winter time, you should definitely stop by for some chili. read more

Ordered carry out. Long drive thru line. Line moved efficiently. Typical order coneys, three way, four way. Got home in minutes. Three way was mostly spaghetti very little chili. When a friend and I were discussing our upcoming trip to Cincinnati, the subject of Cincinnati chili came up immediately. I had never had it before, but I knew something about it. I knew it was served over spaghetti, and I knew it was sauced a little differently with less tomato and more of a cinnamon accent. Well, guess where we went for lunch on Saturday? Yup, I made my first visit to Skyline Chili, the mother ship of Cincinnati Chili. They set up their first shop in 1949 and now are all over Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida. It's not chili in the way you may think of chili. It isn't real meaty, its more of a sauce and yes... its served over spaghetti. There's a lingo you need to understand to order your chili - so let me introduce the terms 3-Way, 4-Way and 5-Way. 3-Way simply means a heap of spaghetti covered with chili and fistfuls of shredded cheddar cheese. A 4-Way adds diced onions or beans to your plate. And a 5-Way gives you both diced onions and beans. When they bring these plates out to your table, its kind of comical because you get this overflowing plate of spaghetti and chili sauce, topped with a huge mound of bright orange shredded cheddar. It is absolutely awesome!! They are served with a package of oyster crackers to add some crunch to your plate. How was it? Man, oh man did I love it! What a great combination of flavor and textures. I loved it. I spiced up my plate with some of their Extreme Habanero Cheese and as a spice lover, I was very happy with it. Skyline Chili has an open kitchen so you can see dozens of plates whipped up in front of your eyes in a matter of minutes. If I lived in Ohio, I'm pretty sure Skyline would be in my regular rotation. Heather was very unpleasant. clear miscommunicatio. we get home our food is messed up. I called she misunderstood. I recommend to the worker that maybe she not take the chili off a menu item unless the customer states they don't want chili. I ordered 2 potatoes add extreme cheese and onions I get two plain potatoes with cheese and onion. it's clearly called skyline chili. so I call and she says I can come back and get a pint of chili. we get there and she is demanding we pay for the chili when our order was 20$ for a kids 3 way and 2 potatoes. no drinks no fries. that was it. absolutely worst service I have ever had at skyline and I will go to blue ash location from now on. don't waste your money here, the workers aren't working! read more

The remodel from a couple years back had made the interior of this Skyline look much better. I love Skyline, however I was forced to also love it by my Cincinnati born wife or the marriage was going to be nullified. She did NoT have to twist my arm. But if you want (or need) a late night snack, there is nothing better than a Coney hot dog with mustard, chili, onion and cheese; or if you like spaghetti, order a 3, 4 (with onion) or 5-way (with beans too)! And if you like things extra spicy, order it with habanero cheese vs shredded cheddar. Skyline has been a "go-to" spot for me whether for lunch, dinner or 2am craving. The normal chili is made beanless, and has a unique taste that may take you a couple times to acquire; not sure if it's the bittersweet chocolate or another interesting recipe spice they use that makes it special, but I haven't found many places like this, so keep going back on every Cincinnati trip! Plus has very fast and friendly service. And if you're a more health conscious eater, you can get a few different salads or other things such as a chili bowl or burrito, but seriously that's not why you go! Love that this location is so close to work. I'll usually swing by this skyline at least once a week () for lunch. The cashier is always quick, very friendly, and efficient no matter how long the line gets. They give you oyster crackers. OK. I ordered a medium two way. Good lord, there is so much freakin' cheese on top of this thing! I immediately took a handful of cheese and moved it into the oyster cracker bowl. I ate it. I hated myself, but couldn't stop eating it. You apparently eat it by cutting into it with the side of your fork and scooping it up. The cheese melts and congeals over the course of the consumption. You keep eating more, hating yourself more, as the taste gets somehow better and better, and your stomach gets queasier and queasier. You Cinncy folk are made of strong stuff. If you're from out of town there's no place you should go besides skyline for chili. I have been coming to this location since I can remember and I'm now 30. There are a few members of the staff that I can remember being here when I was way younger which shows they love their job. Not many places like that can probably say they've had employees like that. Anything and everything chili is amazing. This is Cincinnati style chili which is a lot different than most people think when they envision chili. It's soupy and it's delicious but the cheese is what makes their chili so good. When I think of skyline my mouth waters for the cheese just as much as the chili. As far as the restaurant goes it's always clean and the staff is always attentive and friendly. If you're in the kenwood area, skip the mall restaurants and come here. The floors and tables were full of dishes and food waste throughout the restaurant. The restrooms had a strong unpleasant odor and definitely needed attention. The most disappointing was the food. It was still good and worth the try. Our server was polite and our food was brought out hot and ready. The only issue we had with this location was the check out/bill pay process this night. We were trying to get to a movie but we weren't the only people that were irked by the slow service. They only had one cashier and the line grew to five or six parties deep. The cashier was having a hard time with the party at the checkout and this was holding up the entire process. We asked for someone else to help and they politely said someone would. This didn't happen as two other workers seemed to be on their break eating and looking at us in line. This is by far my favorite of all the Skyline locations. The owner George and I go way back... he got his start right down from my childhood home in Silverton on Plainfield. They just seem to do something unique here that other locations can't match. I'm sure the experience of these fine gents, that have been here everyday in a fresh white shirt and tie for years, don't add up to the experience of 10 other locations combined. It's a testament to the owner that their are so many lifer's in here... or perhaps family? I'm a 3-way (don't get your hopes up ladies) and one plain cheese coney kind of guy. Be sure to poke a hole in your oyster crackers and load them up with hot sauce. I'm old school and don't think I've ever ordered anything else they offer on the menu. Every once in a while I'll go crazy and order a 5-way but a burritto, fries, wrap or salad, loaded spud, etc.... just isn't in my vocabulary when dining at Skyline Chili. The most important thing to remember after a night of drinking.... they're open till 3:30 am Fri-Sat. If I had a dollar for every time as a kid we'd come in here loaded and left sober....
