I recommend Jeff and his team at Skylight Specialities. I've had a lot of bad contractor experiences, so it was a relief to have great work done. They got me on their schedule fast. They recommended best placement of my new skylight. They are rare in that they do it all, cutting, framing, installing, patching roof. It passed inspection the first time. The price was good. read more

We are extremely pleased with the service and the skylight. Jeff is very professional, reliable and communicated well throughout the process. He provided all our options and gave recommendations for us to consider. We are very happy with the Velux remote skylight. We had a large, dark closet. Now with this large skylight that brings in the natural light and fresh air, we love our closet. Jeff and his crew were very clean, added new framing, drywall, finished edges and painted. I would highly recommend Jeff and his quality of work. read more

Nick with Skylight Specialties was so great to work with! We have a skylight that was inoperative and he was able to get up a crank that fit perfectly, and now we can open and close our skylight so quickly. Will definitely be using Nick again for future needs!! read more

Excellent and professional through all steps of purchase and installation. Very happy with the results.

Ironic that I have been looking to call a skylight company, and while walking today, the driver sped up and cut off my 75 yr old dad and I in the parking lot of the plaza by walmart. who does that? Oh yeah, this jerk. Too bad since I would normally use them since they are a local company. read more

Amazing work, very quick to come out measure the skylight and order it for me. They made it super easy for a busy lazy guy like me.

Good people, fair prices. It can be hard to get in touch. It is worth the effort, just don't stress if they don't call you right back. Good quality work. Referred to a neighbor and they were very happy too. read more

Several years ago, Rick replaced the a cracked skylight lens for us on a manual operable skylight. Apparently he had his son (or son in law) install it. Within a few months after installation, a mechanical metal part fell to the ground and we ended up having to "heat / torch fuse" it to secure it back in. We also noticed the gasket missing around the insect screen and an unsightly jagged hole within the screen where the gasket once was. I contacted Rick and he left me a message that he knew nothing about what I was referring to and that it was outside the scope of his work. The truth of the matter is the gasket was there before the lens replacement and they left us with an unsightly insect screen with a hole in it where bugs could get in. We noticed that quite a few screws that were used to secure the insect screen were missing as well. They did S L O P P Y work at best and even caused damage for which Rick took no responsibility. So guess what I'm doing now....hired a different skylight installation company to fix the damaged insect screen. And....I found a skylight company that cares about quality and service and really understands the technical aspects of skylight mechanics! Judging from the YELP reviews I've read so far, it looks like Rick's really nice to customers when he does big jobs such as new installations. But watch out. See how he reacts when he has to fix something. My advise. Buyer beware. read more

Jeff and colleague installed two Velux skylights for us and we couldn't be happier. Everything they did was top notch. They gave us input to help us select the best options and placement, and kept our house free of dust during the installation. They did the total job, including finishing the drywall and painting. They were reliable, professional and hard working. Would highly recommend! read more

These guys have been around for decades! It's a great family run operation and really take in to consideration what exactly you are looking for. Rick came up th some good suggestions I didn't even think about and decided to move forward on. Man was I happy! Thanks guys for everything. The other guy Nick was cool too. He carried what looked like 200 pounds up a ladder and on the roof with one hand like it was nothing! read more

Skylight Specialties recently installed a large 4'x8' skylight in our home and everything went great. The quoting process, ordering, install and service all went well and in a very timely manner. Jeff was excellent to work with on all details and the installation. Recommend Jeff and Skylight Specialties. read more

BEWARE of this business. They tell you lies about the product and after you spend your money and say it isn't what they said it would be, they DON'T CARE. read more

We have a small home in Laguna Woods with 7 skylights. After a new roof was installed last year we were experiencing much higher electric bills and were noticing drafts and excessive dust in house. We called out Skylight Specialties and they went up on the roof and did an inspection and found that the skylights were indeed leaking. For a very reasonable price they removed all seven skylights and installed a high-grade insulation. One skylight was cracked and we replaced that with an operable skylight and it works beautiful. We have been through some very windy days since then and have noticed the dust has stopped, the house is quieter, and it is much warmer. We would highly recommend Skylight Specialties to our friends and family. read more

Wow, called and Rick answered, I explained our leaking skylight issue. Rick says, "I can be there in about 20 minutes, I'll take a look". Actually got here in 15 minutes, climbs up, checks it out, sees a couple problems, offers suggestions and a Very reasonable price to do the work. No muss, no fuss, no BS. He'll be doing my repair--I was blown away by his customer service, interaction and knowledge of products. Will update upon completion but at this point--you need to at least meet him, discuss your needs and see what he can do for you. Well install is done, Rick and helper even added extra calk to insure a solid seal on the unit. I was updated as they waited for the ordered skylight to arrive and called as they headed over to do the install. Very, very pleased with this company and their service! read more

Rick and his team did a great job of replacing an old skylight of mine. When he opened up the roof the previous work was not done up to his standards and he went above and beyond to ensure that I wouldn't have problems in the future. I'd highly recommend his team to anyone that needs to replace their skylight. read more

These guys have been awesome from beginning to end. I was having a hard time even finding a contractor willing to come out and look at my 30 year old skylight that needed either repairing or replacing. Then, I found Skylight Specialties. From my very first communication with them, they treated me with courtesy and recognized the urgency and time restraints around my project. The pricing was so reasonable that we decided to go ahead and replace the skylight. They just completed the installation, and we couldn't be happier. It turned out beautifully. Thank you to the entire crew! read more

Fantastic to work with. I will have them out again in the future to put in another solar tube or skylight. Thanks Rick and Nick.

I just had a skylight installed by this company. It was only a small one, but Rick treated me like it was a super important job! He patiently answered all questions. They were so neat - took great care not to get dust on my art collection. They were in and out as quickly as he promised! AND the bottom line is that I love the skylight - I am wondering why it took me nine years! Great company, great job!! read more

Great friendly professional service! Jeff and colleague replaced an existing skylight with a solar skylight that opens via remote control - now we have a nice breeze going through the back of the house. The new solar skylight was a little larger but they made it work with the existing curb and making sure everything was waterproof - a better installation then the original! We would highly recommend their service. read more

The installation job was done correctly 13 or so years ago. We now have a problem needing attention. After three calls to them I finally got a call back with a promise to "look at the problem when in the area" It's three weeks later so apparently they are never in the area. Another call to them today and no call back. Don't count on these people to be interested in your problem unless perhaps you are a volume contractor. R M Mission Viejo read more

Rick installed the skylight for me back in 2000.I had problems with a leaking roof that a roofer could not fix. Rick installed a new skylight and it never leaked again. Although Rick doesn't usually get up this way, he coordinated the installation of three sun tunnels with the roofing company that was doing a re-roofing of my home. The coordination between Rick, me, and the roofing company was seamless. The work done was excellent and now my dark hallway, entryway and hall bathroom are full with light. Great job, Rick. read more

Rick is super knowledgeable about older skylights. He fixed a few that were leaking and tuned up some very old electric ones and got them working much better without trying to sell me brand new ones. His price was fair and very pleasant to work with. I would definitely call him for all your skylight needs, old and new. read more

Had a 10" Solatube with light and fan installed in a very dark bathroom. The company did a fantastic job. A great solution was quickly recommended by Rick. We had an unusual job replacing existing skylight glass that other people either could not do, way over priced or did not reply with a quote. Rick saw the issue and put out 110% of effort to make things right for us. He and his crew did a wonderful job and everything is perfect! We would highly recommend him for any job.
