Fish tacos
Juanita P.

Since I'm staying at the Marriott, it made sense to at least try the food in the bistro. I was seated very quickly and I then ordered the fish tacos. It was made with avocados, some cheese, lettuce, jalapenos and tilapia with some type of sauce. My first thought when I bit into it was that the fish needed a bit more seasoning. My second bite included a huge slice of jalapeno and there is where things went downhill. Those pieces of jalapeno overpowered the taste of the tacos. I love tasty spicy food but this was no longer fish tacos, it was more like jalapeno tacos. Best advice, skip the tacos or if you do get it order without the jalapeno and use the salt and pepper on the table. For dessert, go for the chocolate ganache with grand mariner. It's rich and decedent.

I stayed at the Marriott for several weeks for work and decided to eat at the restaurant around the lobby, which turns out to be the Skylight Bistro. The food is great, breakfast and dinner, as well as a full, reasonably priced bar. They offer an all you can eat breakfast buffet with basic to more fine options for around 12 to 15$. I've had there nachos, French onion soup, and jumbo shrimp prepared two ways, cocktail and fried. My overall experience was good, other than the shrimp cocktail having a slight distasteful after taste. I recommend skylight for breakfast, or for a drink and dinner after work.

While staying at the Marriott I have been here now twice. I'll start with the bar in the hotel lobby. It has multiple TVs and a good selection of beer and wine. There is also a full service bar. The service was decent and the bar tender was attentive. I did not get any food but the renovated hotel does have a nice ambiance with a huge gas fireplace and high ceilings. For breakfast we did the buffet. They have a decent selection and they also have a lady making fresh omlettes and waffles. The omlettes were ok and the buffet items were again....ok. For the price of $17 pp and $9 per kid, it's not cheap. The service is very good and the eating area is clean. Overall, slightly pricey with average food but not a bad place to eat if you are staying at the hotel.

Sausage and mushroom pizza

I ordered room service from Skylight. The guy who took my order informed me it would be an hour because the pizzas take longer to cook. I was happy when it arrived in just 30 min! The delivery man was very friendly and polite. I ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza. ....it was more like just a mushroom pizza.. the sausage was pretty much non existent unfortunately. And the mushrooms were ehh not that great. I actually ended up picking most of them off. The crust was good though. I wish I would have just ordered cheese or pepperoni.

Hmmmmm the place is nice, the food is great, the waitress was gorgeous. So why am I not satisfied? Mostly where I'm seated, but because a good meal needs timing. My main course came before I finished my appetizer. My mashed potatoes seemed a bit pre made...and at these prices pre made sides are not allowed.

This place is a hidden gem. Located inside the Marriott Indianapolis East. They offer a nice selection of bistro food. The burgers are thick and juicy, cooked to exact specifications. Prices are surprisingly reasonable with high level atmosphere. I found the lighting on the inner dining area too bright, the outer dining area was more comfortable. This place is well worth checking out whether staying in the hotel or not.

Overall a nice atmosphere. The service at the dining room is horrible. I have been here twice and both times the bartender had to bring me a food menu. The food is good and the bar area is great for watching games. If you want to be waited on promptly sit at the bar and eat or drink.

Solely Wine got me by the cojones, apparently. I visited them twice in one week! But you know how…read moreit is with something you love: It's never enough (no Turnstile). This place is all wine, all the time. I'm not even sure they offer any other adult beverage! As a consummate wine fiend, I didn't even consider any other kind of drink, because I don't need any other adult beverage other than wine, you feel me? I love Solely's commitment to wine. They have wine to drink, and also, the walls are lined with bottles of wine. Just don't touch them! If you see an interesting bottle, don't take it off the shelf. Just tell the people at the counter about the bottle you're interested in, and they will help you. I wasn't in the market for a full bottle of wine during my visits -- just a glass. Solely Wine specializes in "unique, low-intervention wines from passionate small producers," according to their website. So whether you buy a bottle or get a glass, you know you're drinking a thoughtfully chosen wine. I had a glass of the Grenache Syrah blend and the Cab Franc, mostly because I rarely see these kinds of wines offered in the wild. They were both delicious! My only comment is that the pour is very small. The Cab Franc especially felt like it was maybe 4 ounces! I have weighed my wine at home, so I know roughly what a typical wine pour (5 ounces) looks like, and this felt like slightly less. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my wine! And the ambiance is killer. During the day, Solely is a cool place to grab a glass of wine and hang out. It's super close to the Monon Trail, too, so you can just bop over and get a cheeky drink. During the nighttime, the lights are lowered and the ambiance is very romantic and intimate. A great place for a solo drink, and a great place for a romantic date night.

I also love that they're connected to an art gallery, it really adds to the overall experience. I came here for a Yelp event and had an amazing time. Inside, the space is peaceful and inviting, with comfortable seating, games to play, and lots of natural light and live plants that create such a relaxing vibe. The owner was incredibly helpful. I wanted to try a wine flight, and she guided me through selecting options based on my preferences. The wine flight comes with four glasses and is about $24, which felt a little on the expensive side. They accept cards and also have a rewards system (which I definitely signed up for). There's a wide variety of wines, from dry to sweet, so there's something for everyone. I really enjoyed my flight. There was one red (Gamay) that wasn't my favorite since I tend to prefer sweet to semi-sweet wines, but I've been trying to expand my palate, which is why I love the option of flights. It also said it paired well with pizza, so maybe if I was eating that, it would be better. I enjoyed browsing their wine selection for purchase. I really admire how everything is well organized and easy to explore. They sell Stellar pretzels which I've had before and are so good, but solely had cinnamon dolce flavor that I never had before, neither had Kiara, so she bought some and I got to try the them (thank you Kiara!), they tasted just like a churro, so delicious, like a dessert! I can definitely see myself coming back here with friends or even just to enjoy the space and unwind. Such a great vibe overall.

Keagan Fife (Manager) - A team player, receptive to feedback and conscientious. We had a issue while there and he was able to step in and problem solve with me and come up with a solution that really won us over. We had a moment where it was feeling a bit "why did we come here" but his customer service exceeded expectation. That's good management. (He's the gentleman in the video below.) Let's get the negative out the way 1st. The first waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. I told her we hadn't received menus. She came back sat them down and walked away. We never saw her again. A new waitress came and she seemed pleasant enough. Once we were all seated she began to take our orders. She made a point to say she needed to write it all down or she was get it mixed up. She then did not write anything down. Our food came out extremely slow but that wasn't a huge deal because we all were mingling. A lot of her team had to step in and deliver our food, give drinks, check on us etc. She was pretty non existent. Two of the ladies never received food. This was after we had been there for 2 hours and everyone else had received their items. At the end when we asked for our check they were all mixed up and confused. The waitress then blamed us for adding things and moving around. We never moved once and she only came around the one time when she originally took our orders. We never got a chance to add things. (it was quite comical that she tried to say that) I ended up asking for manager because she seemed overwhelmed and a bit bias about our group. Assuming that we wouldn't want one check and splitting them because she figured we would want it that way and then blaming us because she did it when we never asked for split. There rule is parties over 8 have to have 1 bill and we never asked for an exception. There was just her assumption that a group of black women wouldn't want to do that. (I digress) There were a few more things but I will end it there. That was the big negative. Now the positive!!! Ambiance 10/10 - great views, great music, great location, umbrellas on roof were great although a but wobbly and scary. Also, they come around with complimentary sunglasses while dining. I thought this was a nice and luxurious touch! Food 8/10 - most food received was delicious Service 9/10 - everyone except for our server was great! Everyone who pitched in to help was awesome! Ended up tipping a different server who basically helped us the whole time. Bless his heart because I know he was super busy. As stated above management handle the situation well. I would definitely go back! I try to give people a chance. I think our server may have been overwhelmed and had a past experience that left her bias against our group but hopefully she can grow and get better. Her actions don't reflect the restaurant as a whole! Go and enjoy the vibes and views!

It's not much to look at from the outside - in small strip mall off Fall Creek about 2 miles north of 96th, but the inside is both luxe and comfortably cozy. At just 12 tables, you get your table for the night, so there is no rush and your evening can be as long as you want to make it. They also have a gorgeous little side wine room that you can rent for parties of 6-8 for dinner. And there's a little bar area that seats maybe 4-6. We had reservations for 6pm, so there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied when we got there, but they filled throughout the night (& we left close to 8pm). Our server Shaunda was delightful, and the owner Dan came around and checked on all the tables a few times as well. We were presented with a cous cous amuse bouche, a nice refreshing bite to start the evening. Hubs had an Italian Old Fashioned and I asked our server to pair wine for me, so it was a Decoy Sauv Blanc with our first course - the mussels. We asked for extra crostinis in order to soak up more of the delicious sauce they came in. Next was the beet arugula salad, so good! For entrees, hubs had the pappardelle bolognaise and got an iced T, and I had the short ribs with risotto, paired with a glass of cab franc. Dessert was coffee (americano) for each of us, and we split the tiramisu (see all my pics). We ate and enjoyed everything! Total with tax was right at 200 before gratuity. So this is more of a splurge place for us, (of course would be less without the beverages we did) but we will be back. It was a really pleasant evening and another big win for me picking birthday places! #yum #ReviewsByRL

As soon as we sat down, our server came right over and explained how the menu is laid out and how the courses are brought out. I will say, this is not a place to go when you are rush. It is meant to be slow, so you can settle in and enjoy your food, enjoy the company and just be in the moment. We were probably there just over 2 hours for just the two of us. Chef Dan came out many times to chat with us and really made us feel welcome. Telling us different stories, walking us through what we were eating, and just made us feel like we were special. While everything was amazing, a few standout things I would like to mention: The Mussels were amazing, such good flavor so if you are fan, make sure you order them. The caesar salad comes disassembled, and the anchovies are sold separately, (I didn't realize it when I ordered it), we ordered a few desserts and they were all amazing. Can't go wrong there.

You have a glass (OK, two glasses) of a nice Barbera d'Asti, and savor a couple of nibbly things. Everything is sparkly and right in the world on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon. All this and more can be yours when you visit Wine & Rind. At least, all that and more was mine when I visited. This is my ideal restaurant: wine focused, with a succinct menu of beautifully presented and thoughtfully created food. Plus, it's located right off the Monon Trail in Midtown Carmel, so it's a prime space for people-watching. This little restaurant is a great place to get a charcuterie platter, but I was feeling like bruschetta when I visited, so I ordered the Bruschetta Sampler, which is plenty for two people. It comes out like artwork on a wooden platter: five beautiful bruschetta toasts consisting of traditional tomato; fig and bleu cheese; capocollo and a herbed ricotta; blueberry and lemon ricotta with sugar sprinkled on top; and strawberry and cannoli cream with balsamic. The last one (strawberry and balsamic with cannoli cream) was surprising and might have been my favorite, because it tasted like cheesecake. I love being surprised! I also ordered the caprese salad, which was a wonderfully tasty platter of tomato, mozzarella, basil, pesto, olive oil, balsamic glaze and Maldon salt. It was so fresh and light. Another surprise: It was sprinkled with sprouts! I would have never thought to add that to a caprese, but it 100% worked. The service here is top-notch. The server was super nice and attentive, but also disappeared and only reappeared when necessary. Wine & Rind is a Carmel gem! I know I'll be back soon to try more of the menu, and drink more of the wine.

A friend turned me on to this place. I love wine, and red wine specifically, so I made a point to visit. I'm so glad I did! 305 Wine Garage is a gem. Like I mentioned, they literally have a wall of wine in the restaurant. Each bottle is labeled with the price, and they have so many different varieties. I sat near the Italian wines because I love Italian wines the most. I treated myself to brunch, which they only offer on weekends. During the winter, they're only open 50% of the weekend (Saturdays), but talking to my server, it sounds like they will open on Sundays starting in late March and through the summer. I got the Smoked Salmon Everything, which is smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion, capers, chopped hard-boiled egg, grape tomatoes and crostini. I didn't know what it would look like before I ordered it, but I knew I liked all of the components and only wanted a little something to nibble on. This sounded like it could look like anything: Will all of the ingredients be topped on the crostini? Will it be presented as a dip? But it came out like a piece of art. They really pay attention to details here. You can order wine by the glass, by the bottle or by the flight. I got a glass of Malbec, and it was delicious. One thing to note is: This joint is 21+ only! But the server said that he sometimes sees people come in with kids, and in those cases, he will seat them in a different room. Or, if the weather is nice, families are welcome to sit at the outdoor patio. This is definitely not a place that would appeal to kids, though. This is a place that you visit to get away from kids.
