I came to get my dress altered and she said it will be ready within 7 days. We agreed on date and time. When I came back for pick up on the day of, the store was closed. I called and texted multiple times and she finally showed up 30 mins later. There was also 4 customers waiting. When I came in she didn't know where my dress was. So I had to go through to find my dress myself. When I found it, it was in the same state that I had dropped it off in. Meaning that she never started on the dress at all. Three other customers came in after me and she started helping them first even though I told her I needed it today. She said she was going to fit it in an hour, but as I was waiting for the dress, she barely started it and was helping everyone else. I had to leave for an important reason because I wasn't meant to have stayed there for longer than 5-10 minutes. I'm never going back and I do not recommend anyone needing it in a timely fashion. Wow. Jane is an amazing tailor! She shortened a dress into a blouse for me and it came out perfectly. She has limited English, but make sure you chat with her in-person and provide image references or bring in a clothing example. I had recently taken in my daughter's prom dress to Skylar's to get it altered. I had also brought in a traditional Chinese dress to shorten the sleeves and to take down the waist. I picked up my items a week later and we are very happy with his alterations. The reason why we have been coming to this shop for years is because of very reasonable prices and the good service. The people at the shop are always friendly and we are always greeted with a smile. This little shop is tucked away in a row of shops on the east side of Del Mar and may be hard to find for folks that are not familiar with the area. It shares an office space with a gift shop. The storefront is across the street from Hing Wa Lee Jewelers and there is plenty of parking at the adjacent Hawaii Supermarket. I needed to help my dad get his dress pants hemmed last minute. I called to make sure they were still open (they close at 5pm) and a man answered promptly. The store was initially hard to find since I drove through the Hawaii supermarket larking lot but it's a small shop directly facing the Hing Wa Lee jewelry store from across the street. The man who helped us out was kind and polite. He promptly measured my dad's pants on him and hemmed the pants without any fuss. We arrived right before closing and he was so nice to help us out. This place is GREAT! I am so ecstatic to have my expensive jeans hemmed here. The quality and details are amazing for the price. I actually know how to sew and have a machine at home but don't know how to hem keeping the original hem. They double stitched the original hem with a Z stitch pattern to keep the fray in place. They also sew at appropriate places so that the extra fabric are kept in place. $7 for regular pants/ jeans hem. $10 to keep original hem.
