The flavors were great and we ordered a side of the curry sauce and it was delicious. Was a little disappointed in the cheese corn as it was not super hot and the cheese did not really melt. Yum yum yum! I've seen thisnplace on a few people's instagram so I had to try it out now that I've moved out here. My bf got the Sizzling eel bowl and there was plenty of eel! Great flavor. And loved that we could add more sauce if we liked. And I got the spicy garlic beef! There was plenty of meat! It could have been a little more garlicy, a little more spicy, but overall I liked it. It's nice that you can control the amount if sauce you put in. I feel like I wasnt putting enough sauce! Came in for lunch on a Saturday around 12:25pm and by 12:30 all the tables were taken. But the service is quick ash the turnover is fast too. We ordered the gyoza, beef pepper rice, and spicy crunchy chicken wings. The gyoza is fried and crispy on the outside. The pepper rice comes out sizzling hot so the meat cooks right in front of your eyes. You can add in different ingredients such as kimchi, extra meat, egg, etc. We like letting the rice at the bottom get a little crispy before stirring all the ingredients together. Sizzling Lunch has been on my bookmarked list for awhile and since I had ample time today to grab a bite and in the area, I decided to check out the food. I loved the concept behind how the dishes are individually served on a scorching cast iron skillet with the sizzling going on, but I was surprisingly underwhelmed with the overall taste. Teriyaki sauce and soy sauce both were drizzled into mixture of rice and garlic pepper beef, so not sure what my taste buds were thinking! I also thought there was a noticeable oiliness to the taste (due to too much butter???). Meal was okay, but I guess my expectations were set too high based on most Yelpers' reviews. Next time, I will try the spicy version and/or add mushrooms or kimchee. Service was quick, attentive and friendly. There was a huge carry out order before me so the cashier was apologetic and said it would take about 15 minutes. He was correct. I brought it home and unpacked. Came here on a Saturday around 1pm and the restaurant was pretty empty. Probably due to the location since it's tucked away at the corner behind Safeway. Food came quickly and sizzling hot. The staff was also nice explaining everything. Each table has a tablet for ordering. You also have a variety of seasonings (salt, pepper, chili powder, teriyaki sauce, garlic shoyu) such that you could season your food to your own liking. Unagi Pepper Rice - the rice and unagi sat atop runny eggs so you would have to stir fry it and mix everything around. The rice got a crunchy bottom. It was tasty. Just wish that they would give more pieces of unagi but it's understandable given the price. Garlic Beef Udon(I added $3 for extra beef) - very flavorful and filled with umami. The sizzling plate really gave an extra layer of favor. Definitely a great choice if you want sizzling hot food and satisfy your Korean BBQ craving at a fraction of the cost. One thing about me, when it comes to a sizzling plate restaurant, IMMA HAVE IT! Ugh MAN this place hella good I swear. For sauces there's teriyaki sauce, garlic shoyu, and chili powder. You order on a tablet located on the table and then the food comes on out. I got garlic pepper beef rice which had a divine amount of garlic on it. I've been to a lot of sizzling lunch locations in the Bay Area and even pepper lunch located in Milpitas, but this place has much more appetizers! Our server was great. Even though I've been to many sizzling lunch place but the server here was really nice! He took his time explaining what we can choose, even add in his opinion and recommend some plates for us. There is a tablet at every table so you can put in your order, as much as you want, and any time you want. The portion is the same as other places. Meat was good and tender, you can also add on different toppings as you prefer. And as I mentioned before, a ton of different appetizers you can try. I ended up with the cheese French fries and it is to die for! Will definitely come back to try more apps. The sauce were light and not too thick. The current flavor on the other hand is pretty dense. You can actually feel the flavors in the udon. I has left overs and it still had that flavors two days later! There's tons of Parking. Price is okay. The order was done on a pad sitting on the dinning table, and it's served very soon after order. I like the steak I got, I also added egg and mushroom for my dish. My family and I were in town for a soccer tournament and I was looking for a unique place for dinner. We could have gone to a traditional place like Black Bear or something along those lines, but, again, I wanted something a little different. I found Sizzling Lunch on Yelp and liked the idea of combining a Japanese street food experience, inside a restaurant. The fact that you cook your food on sizzling cast iron skillets was a huge appeal to me. I called in late afternoon and asked if they could do a reservation for 9. Without question or hesitation, they said yes. This really surprised me, as I had just called shortly before the time we'd be eating. Either this place was huge or it was a slow night. When we got there, it was actually a lot smaller than I pictured. I referenced our reservation and the young lady worked to arrange the tables so we could all be together. I'm sure that reservations aren't even a normal thing here, after seeing the process, but they had the wherewithal to not turn away a client because 'it's not what they normally do'. I could be completely wrong here, but it just felt like it was something they did to be kind to their customer. The young lady who seated us, explained the ordering process and was very helpful and attentive to all of our questions (which were more than several!) The food all came out on those sizzling skillets and it was freaking amazing! It's all I've thought about since we left. If we didn't live an hour and a half away, I would have eaten there tonight. This restaurant is located in a quiet plaza with tons of parking I was lucky to find parking right in front! I went on a Sunday late afternoon for some dinner and it was not busy at all. We were met with a worker who said we can choose anywhere we want and guided us how to order from the tablet that's provided at each table. It was very easy to use! So you order then you send in the order which goes straight to the kitchen and you can always add on items even if you already sent in your order. Everything was delicious and the portions were huge! They have sauces on the side and some seasoning if you'd like to add to your plate. However, there is no alcohol served but they do sell Sugar Cane drinks from sugar mama which is a MUST HAVE! I was so surprised to see their drinks in this restaurant and I'm so happy about that. The service here is amazing, the workers are really nice and helpful and really fast. Yayyyyy congrats Sizzling Lunch on the Grand Opening! To celebrate they were offering every person a free choice of one of their sizzling pot dishes. My boyfriend and I both got the garlic pepper beef and added butter garlic and corn toppings and got a side of curry sauce. We only paid for the toppings and sides which was nice! Even without the added toppings and sides, there were teriyaki and garlic shoyu sauces on the table that greatly enhanced the fried rice. I don't have much experience with cooking the meat in a stone pot but I really enjoyed it. Kinda similar to kbbq I guess haha. Eating the beef once it was freshly cooked along with everything else in the stone pot was a tasty experience. I also really enjoyed how crispy the rice would get at the bottom and made for great texture! I went a little ham on the teriyaki sauce lol. It was not an overly powered sweet savory taste like some teriyaki sauces can be. You can definitely build the flavor up more and more between the two sauces and the chilli powder condiments on the table. I definitelly recommend trying it with the side of Japanese curry though.
