    Tofu donburi

This place is okay. Not terrible but also not too memorable. The service was a bit chaotic when we went on a Thursday evening, it's a small place but the servers seemed a bit flustered. We tried a variety of items: tofu donburi, bento box and a few different rolls.

Came here on New Year's Eve, cute and intimate place. Glad they were open because everything was delicious! We got four rolls and all were a hit, they provided complimentary gyoza which was crispy and tasty. Service was great, only one person taking orders and there was no issues. Definitely coming back(:

The food is terrific. Came here after 1pm on a Friday to beat the lunch crowd and found parking easily. The parking in the plaza is awful during the lunch rush most days. Got seated and served really fast. I forgot my sunglasses in the restroom and the waitress brought them out to me. So nice! Thank you!!! This was my second time here and I'll definitely be back. The place is small and cozy, relaxed and not too loud.

Came for a Saturday lunch and was seated immediately for a party of two. There's only one server which makes it so that even though the restaurant isn't busy it takes a while to get the server's attention. We weren't even served water before we almost finished our meal which we had to ask for. The sushi combo plate that I got was ok, but Sushi Tomi nearby is miles above in quality in my opinion.

Picked up a Spicy Chicken plate, it came with rice, salad, a dressing, and soup. Very good portion of the chicken, given the plate is slightly on the expensive side. It was more of a chicken teriyaki flavor profile with a kick of spice to it (not sure what type of spicy sauce was used), but it tasted good. It was pretty saucy. Just about right for a dinner. I was not very fond of the miso soup, I felt it was a little overpowering for me. Overall I'd say 3.5/5. Nice ambience and a decent sized parking lot, a couple of other restaurants in the complex as well. They get the food ready pretty quick.

I've been looking for my go-to sushi place in the area and I've found it!! Joy sushi is great all around. Amazing selection of sushi, affordable, fast service, and delicious! My guests and I came in on a Friday at 5:30pm and were seated and served promptly. It seems like this is a popular place for takeout as there were quite a few tables available. If you are looking for a no frills, great sushi, amazing service, and affordable place- joy sushi is your spot!

LOVED this small local spot! Very fresh rolls, I believe the owners were making the rolls & they were so kind, the rolls were made very quick and were full of so much flavor! The island roll and the monster roll are pictured and probably our favorite two we tried of the night! 12/10 recommend!

I came to Joy Sushi with a friend for dinner. He had raved about it and it is his favorite sushi place. We came around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday and were able to be seated right away. I tend to like simple rolls without too much sauce where you can really taste the individual ingredients in the roll. I told the friend that- but even still the rolls all had a lot of sauce. I probably should have been more assertive in the ordering process- but since he said it was his favorite place and he had been there a ton, I figured he would know what was good. I was hugely disappointed- but may go back again to give Joy Sushi another chance and order on my own. I had a much better experience when I came for lunch a few months ago!

The owner and staff were incredibly kind and treated me like family. The tempura was the best I've ever had crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! The sushi was fresh and tasted amazing, and the sushi boat was especially fresh and delightful. I highly recommend this place

Let's start off by saying we came 30 minutes before this restaurant closed. All the staff was friendly and encouraged us to do takeout (which we were already planning). Our food was prepared quickly and packaged well. We had all the essentials that we needed; soy sauce, ginger and wasabi + napkins. Let's get to the food... there were almost too many options to decide from but the ones we picked were super tasty. My friend and I both got different dishes so we could sample from each other. I will need to go back to try more and would recommend this place to anyone in the area! Next time I will be more prepared and come earlier so I can visit inside the restaurant with whichever guest I bring!

Cute, delicious, and A MUST TRY. Joy Sushi a cute Japanese joint nestled in Mountain View was an amazing spot to eat. The service from Joy Sushi was exceptional with the servers bringing a familial vibe in the restaurant. One of the servers even helped me learn how to use my chopsticks. Overall great service. The ambiance was great as well, though there wasn't LOADS of seating. The interior was very nice with lots of decorations and on the inside you could see a lot of the action happening which was cool. The food itself was GREAT. I got the Unagi Donburi which was an eel dish. The dish came with a bomb unagi sauce that tasted a little like a zesty thicker teriyaki which complemented the fattiness of the eel amazingly. The dish was the perfect portion for me to finish in the restaraunt and be full. The dish also interestingly came with some orange savory fish roe that popped. The eel was SO tasty. It was a little fatty and very tender with no overfishy taste emanating. It was overall an amazing dish that came with lots of rice. The dessert was a little less appetizing. We got strawberry and mango mochi which was ok. It tasted like one of the Trader Joe's mochi, but the presentation was beautiful and the price wasn't exorbitant. Overall Joy Sushi is a must try it provides plenty of good sushi and other entrees like my unagi donburi if sushi isn't your thing. If you are ever in Mountain View make sure to come to Joy Sushi to enjoy the delicious food, familial service, great interior, and affordable dishes.

Our favorites: Eighty-Eight Roll and Kevin's Roll (premium rolls). Each roll has 10 pieces, bigger than usual. - Eighty-Eight Roll: loaded with crab, unagi, avocado, salmon, tuna, cucumber and topped with salmon, avocado, spicy tuna, tobiko, and pine nuts. This is their signature, a very light roll with minimal sauce so that you can focus on the natural flavors of fresh seafood. - Kevin's Roll: equally impressive, wonton crisps make it very unique. Roll was loaded with albacore, hamachi, shrimp, and radish, then top with salmon, avocado, pickled wasabi. We also enjoyed the Hamachi Shot, which had fresh hamachi, avocado, and a quail egg yolk served in a shot glass. Each bite has a rich and creamy taste. For special roll (8-piece), we got: - Ching Ching Roll: salmon, tuna, avocado, topped with crispy powder - Daruma Roll: inside (unagi, hamachi, crab, cucumber), topped with hamachi, avocado, jalapeno, tobiko Both were delicious and fresh as well! Service was quick, our food arrived super fast. We left completely satisfied and will definitely be back to try more items from the menu. Highly recommend if you're looking for fresh sushi in Mountain View!

I found good reviews for the Shrimp Tempura so we found this restaurant in a neighborhood area. We weren't sure because it looked small and among a tree-lined street and parking lot. No one was dining there but we gave it a chance. Decor was nice and it smelled & looked cleaned and disinfected. It's open seating so we found a seat by the window. I found some reasonable Weekday Lunch Specials so we ordered 2 entrees for $17 each. I ordered the grilled Saba Shioyaki Grilled Mackarel that came with a scoop of white rice, a bowl of Miso Soup and green salad with Miso dressing. My friend ordered the Shrimp Tempura that came with 6 pieces and the same sides. First came the soup and salad which were perfect and the soup wasn't salty. It was hot and flavorful and the salad was nice and cold. I think the lettuce was Iceberg Lettuce as it was a lighter green color. Our entrees hit the spot and gave a nice protein boost. I'd say maybe just 3 other sets of people came in but I could imagine after 5pm it gets busy. Our waitress was accommodating and efficient. Bathrooms were very clean too and neat. And the grilled mackerel had a delicious smoky flavor and tender texture. We tried a few specialty rolls as well, which were all excellent. I highly recommend the salmon roll, mexicali roll, and toro heaven roll. All were quite delicious, with plenty of flavor. I will note I have definitely tasted better quality fish, but the price point made sense for the fish we tried. I would definitely visit again - all the dishes we had were good!

I was really hoping this would be a *the* place to go to if I wanted to treat myself to omakase without needing to make a trip. At $290 pp, I felt like the menu is worth it for the ingredients but the chef wasn't always able to execute properly. The menu is quite interesting as you get some unique pieces like octopus mouth, but when we had it, it felt a bit chewy. But overall, the menu felt special and there were a lot of bites we enjoyed! Most omakases follow a usual rhythm, and I was definitely surprised here as some pieces were less predictable. We got the five sake sampler and all the sakes were very good! I wish it was more of a pairing style though. I think it would have elevated the experience more if the waiter had shared what kind of bites each sake goes well with. Although this was my first omakase experience, I have had a handful of sushi dinners before, and this was the best (although a bit pricey). Each plate was a great bite, and there were more than enough plates. Perhaps most impressive of all was the support staff. They took care of everything I would normally expect (opening doors, refilling drinks, clearing plates), but they did so with such grace and consistency that I hardly noticed they were there at all. In my view, that alone added substantially to the overall experience.
