In his response, Zi claimed the refund had already been submitted. I checked directly with my credit card company and the refund was not processed until Saturday, 8/29. That is two days after I left this negative review on Thursday, 8/27. I had also already filed a dispute with my credit card company for the $7.74. If a refund was truly "pending" as he claimed, the credit card company would have seen it. They did not, because it wasn't there yet. The timeline speaks for itself: incident occurred Sunday, 8/23. Negative review posted Thursday, 8/27. Refund finally submitted and texts sent Saturday, 8/29. The refund only happened after the review went up -- not before. Additionally, we left our phone numbers. I understand calling may not be standard practice, but when a customer leaves their contact information after an issue like this, the decent thing to do is use it. A simple call letting us know the refund was processed and to expect it within 3-14 days would have gone a long way. Instead, nothing -- until a bad review forced action. Zi, please don't misrepresent the timeline of events and call it good customer service. If you can provide proof the refund was submitted BEFORE Thursday 8/27, I will update my review. Until then people should be aware how dishonest you are as a business owner. The food and service were both fine, no complaints there. But check your receipt carefully before you leave, especially if you're dining with a large party. We were charged an 18% gratuity as a line item (their stated policy for parties of 8+, which we understood and accepted). The problem is that when the tip screen came up, it defaulted to 18% again making you think that was the mandatory one not an "extra" one. We did not see 18% added as a line item until after. We were essentially double-charged for the tip, once added into the bill and again at the payment screen. When we raised the issue to the server, she went to check with her manager. The manager refused to come out and address the issue at the time. The server was apologetic and helpless. She took down our order numbers (shown on my receipt attached) and phone numbers and said we'd be refunded for the double tip and receive a call back. That was four days ago. No refund. No call. I don't know if this is a system error or an intentional practice, but the complete lack of follow-through from management is what moved me to leave this review. Mistakes happen. Ordering process has changed a few times through the years. They used to physically take your order at the table. Then they went to tablets where you place the order by punching in what you want, order goes to directly to the kitchen, and staff brings it out. Now they've moved to QR code at each table, direct to kitchen, staff brings it out along with your drinks. - Chicken Katsu Curry is always my go to here. Cutlet nicely breaded and fried. Curry comes on the side so fir a dipper line me its perfect. - Gyoza yes here if you like 100% fried potstickers. Great flavor and the kids love that they are deep fried. - Potato Croquette NEW item. We went to Sizzling Lunch at ~7p on a Monday and it was pretty empty. They had no trouble seating the six of us. The menu was the QR code on the table and we pretty much ordered almost instantly. The food came out within 15 minutes and it was SIZZLING (as advertised). The udon beef stir fry was pretty solid. You pretty much don't have to add any toppings because the base dish contains all that you need unless you want extras of something. After we had finished our food, they cleared our table and we were expecting that they would come by with the check,,, but they didn't and there wasn't a person at the register to ring us up, so we kind of just sat there for a little while until we could find someone to help us. It was close to closing time so I totally understand if they were busy cleaning up, but it was quite awkward. Considering that each sizzling plate is upwards of $16 for a stirfry that should really only cost close to $10 for a single serving, it is kind of pricey in my opinion. Food was standard to other locations when we came in on Sunday 8/23/26 with reservations at noon for a large party. It was quiet and started to fill up. We were served quickly and service was good. For convenience we ordered by family per table. However the issue came when we walked up to pay at the counter. Although we ordered by scanning the QR code on the assigned table we were unable to make payment by app. Which seemed odd. We walked up to the counter to pay. The hostess asked if it was ok that she put in an 18% tip, service seemed acceptable, so I had no issue with that. However when it came time to review on the tablet at the counter, tip request showed up again, and there was no option to zero out with no additional tip. So I thought that was the previously discussed percentage amount. (A family in our party ahead of us noticed the same thing. So I was trying to be more careful and not let it be a user error issue.) Unfortunately I was also OVER charged erroneously for a SECONDARY TIP! I was able to catch this when the receipt printed out! This is unacceptable business practice! The hostess did due diligence and wrote down our invoices, phone numbers, and amount over charged and now it's Thursday 8/27/26 and still no call or correction from the manager Zi Zhao. Mistakes happen it's small value but based on principle and expectations, it would be for the management team to make this right. This happened to at least FOUR families in our party in one day. How many other families didn't notice before us, and walked away over charged? We gave the team time to respond before writing this review and filing a dispute with our credit card company. Once everything looked cooked I started mixing everything up and added in some of the 2 sauces on the table (garlic shoyu and teriyaki). As I began eating I found myself adding more sauces as there were so many flavors and textures to what seemed to be a simple dish when I started out. After eating about halfway through, I noticed that I really liked the caramelized bits of meat, rice, onions and kept scraping the hot plate for more! Be aware of this restaurant when you pay! They have a scheme going on where they ask if you're ok with an 18% tip and then they manually add that in and then when you get to the tipping screen, the 18% is shaded out since you agreed, but its actually another 18% on top. When we requested the manager to refund it, he literally never came out of his back office because he was "too busy". Then we left our phone numbers in good faith, but he never called.
