Food: Not the best in town. Good enough to chow down and get you full! The salad options are limited, only lettuce and baby spinach. Lots of dressing and other veggies to add on, corns, peas, mushrooms, shredded carrots...etc. The fish and chips are decent, at least they're willing to season it generously! Not like other restaurants, just fry and serve, no seasoning! Service: the server and hostess are very nice and with a sincere smile. Something that I always treasure about! My family and I were just just treated as horribly as I could imagine at this restaurant. We have eaten there probably half a dozen times - weekdays and later in the evening on Saturday's. We arrived at 3:30 this fine Sunday afternoon after finishing a baseball tournament in Rodeo. Upon arrival the restaurant was very busy so once my husband had ordered he left my mother, son, myself and my service dog (completely enclosed in a canine stroller -she has eaten bee with us previously during visits but was in a canine backpack rather the stroller) at the counter to finish ordering while he located us all a seat. We finished ordering and located the booth my husband had chosen and took our seats. He chose to stay behind while the three of us visited the salad bar. During my visit to the salad bar I was greeted by food on the floor and counter (somewhat understandable considering how busy they were) however I had an encounter with a woman who commented that this was as her second trip and it had not been wiped down, cleaned up or refilled since her first trip 20 minutes prior. Also while at the salad bar, I observed another individual at the fried chicken area picking up pieces with the tongs and placing it on their plate (as they should). This person was then using their bare hands (with long dirty fingernails) to tear each piece open and audibly make a comment about its level of under-cooking and then toss it back into the "bowl" for the next customer to grab. Upon my return from the salad bar my mother had already returned and had been seated. She was in mild panic telling me that the server (standing next to her) was trying to tell her in very poor English, that due to a customer inquiry as to the validity of my dogs service status we needed to immediately provide service dog papers or leave the restaurant. My mother was attempting to tell her she needed to speak to me but the server could not understand what she was saying (see afore mentioned poor English and obvious language barrier) and did not bother to get a manager to explain more clearly or translate for her and continued to berate my elderly mother telling her to provide the papers. I asked the server what the problem was and she again TRIED to tell me (I could not understand hardly anything she said) I needed to prove my animal was a service dog immediately or my family was not welcome to eat in their restaurant. I'm going to just take a second to remind everyone that I stood at the counter for at least 10 minutes while my family ordered their meal with my service dog while the manger oversaw my entire transaction from behind our cashier and said NOTHING TO ME. I returned to the counter with the receipt and credit card used to pay and was met by the manager who had no interest in seeing papers or observing proof of anything; he simply took the receipt I handed him along with the credit card and proceeded to not say one word to me while he tapped away at the touch screen performing the refund. I tried to tell him he had just lost $125 in revenue because of a situation that was completely mishandled and he did not care. Once he was completed I turned my phone to show home the photo documentation I keep of the registration as a service animal and he said I don't care and you need to leave now (my animal had already been removed by my husband). read more

Food was good and served just on time. There were only one staff working as cashier so there is a bit of a build up on the line on a Friday afternoon in the counter. I know Buffay style restaurants are going out of style since people don't eat like that anymore. But every now and then I love me a good buffet style meal if for some reason, takes me back to when I was a kid. Unfortunately, this time around my last trip to one of the last Buffay restaurants I know was beyond disappointing. The husband and I went on a visit to sizzler. We ordered the shrimp basket, big potato salad, bar, and a drink. They did not explain to us that the salad bar entrée deal did not count towards the shrimp basket so off top I feel like we over paid. They stopped, carrying the specialty lemonade drinks they used to make. Then when we went to choose a seat, so many of the seating areas had yet to be cleaned we had to stop the young lady to clean or finish cleaning the booth that was semi-clean so we could sit down and start our dining. The one server seemed so overworked. I felt so bad asking him for things. I always have a tendency to wash my hands before I start eating so I went into the bathroom. The bathroom was filthy. You can tell that they've changed quite a few food vendors in the change was not for the better. Food quality is not as good as I once was. I was even disappointed by the clam chowder. It tasted like the dairy in the chowder was beginning to turn. Also, the ice cream machine was not working. This is one of the last sizzlers still standing in the bay area and at this rate, I do not think it is going to make it. So sorry to see the downhill trend. read more

Hi, I'm Tim, I wanted to share what my brother and I experienced today. We wanted to go to a place where we could enjoy a good meal, in a nice atmosphere with quality customer service, so we decided to go to Sizzler. My brother thought it would be a good idea to call first and check their salad bar prices hoping they were not too busy. A nice employee by the name of Mara-bell answered and her phone etiquette was delightful and very welcoming we hadn't even made it to the restaurant yet! When we arrived, we were greeted by Mara-bell at the counter, she made us feel right at home, and we were for sure ready to eat. The restaurant was clean and the salad bar was very presentable. And just when we thought our experience couldn't get any better another young lady by the name of Maria visited our table and made us feel exceptional. She was very pleasant, and professional, yet very humble as I observed her earlier working with and training employees about safety, policy and procedures, guest communication as well as customer service. I'm a safety officer and consultant and I am always observing others and my surroundings. Maria is very nice and she seems to sincerely care about her employees. My brother and I discovered and the end of our meal that Mara-bell was the assistant manager and Maria was the General Manager. Lastly, we left that place (Sizzler) satisfied with our decision to dine at Sizzler an unforgettable one. I hope that anyone reading this review will make it a point to dine at the Sizzler in Pinole on Fitzgerald Dr. You won't be disappointed. In my closing, I'd like to say that neither Maria nor Mara-bell made it a point to say that they were in Management they were very humble I believe it was more of them wanting my brother and me to enjoy the experience than to play the who's who. I feel that in the retail business, there are only two types of people 1. A Boss: An individual that will literally point and just tell you what to do and expect you to do it hoping other employees will lend a hand! 2. A Leader: An individual who will show, explain, and train you how to do it, that you will want to be successful and play a leadership role to influence others. I ordered the Steak Med Well, Unlimited Shrimp. When I received my food the steak was burnt and very tough. My waiter was wonderful. He saw that it was burnt and insisted he get me another one. The second one was just right. The person or persons who cleans the tables were not on their job. There were 5 tables that had not been cleaned when we left. I came here as part of a Mother's Day dinner so I'm taking that into consideration as to why it took a long time to receive the meal and other factors. I had the steak and crispy shrimp with broccoli, and a root beer. The food was fairly good but was harder and harder to enjoy once a loud, obnoxious family sat near us. They took up 3 tables, shouted, and frequently roamed/stood in the aisle, sometimes inches from us, oblivious to other diners and the servers. While not Sizzlers' fault, the fact that they attract such customers is noteworthy. The server rarely checked in with us and the entry procedure is ridiculous--you are made to feel like cattle as you move down a narrow aisle and have to read the menu off the wall (and it's often blocked by customers). Then it's a bottleneck at the cashier. Finally, parking is limited and difficult. If uncrowded I'd imagine having a more favorable opinion of this place (the seating is comfortable and the space airy), but as it is I wouldn't try again. read more

I live in San Diego and have never been to Pinole. I made an online order using the zip code 92113 and for some internet error the online order for pickup went to the Pinole store which is 8 hours away. Immediately contacted the store to cancel the order and prevent my bank account from being charged and to prevent the order from being made. The female who answered the phone claimed to be the manager she wasn't and then gave wrong information saying I had to go through the website. Per website any issues with order has to be handled through the store. I have been attempting to deal with this for three days. My bank account was charged and now I have to file through my bank. I LOVE Sizzler - let me start with that. It has been in my entire life at different points and I have gone to their salad bar for years because I love the options and that I can get the wings with their magic batter and break them down into my salad. It's a taste that I cannot find anywhere else and have loved going back to it again and again - a comfort food of sorts. I literally only use the salad bar, and have for years. Well... COVID has been rough on many businesses because distribution has been tough, supply has been low, and now the prices of gas make it even more difficult. Mind you, THIS IS THE ONLY SIZZLER LEFT in the entire area (I live in Oakland - the San Leandro location finally gave up the ghost), so I drive out there for this experience... No chicken wings - NONE, though they say it will be back soon. Moreover, the number of salad-making items has gone down significantly. To be honest, if they just sold the batter I could make my own wings and make salad at home, but I refuse to give up on something that has been so good for me in the past. The best part was the shrimp. The bread had good flavor but was soggy. The potatoes had way too much butter and sour cream. Had to scoop it off to the side. I had to saw the steak to cut it. I suppose it was ok for what we paid. Nothing at all compared to other steakhouses. read more

After standing in line to order for approximately 45 minutes, the cashier told us that it's not on special but regular price at $19.29. I told her that they have a banner outside that says $15.00. She said no, it's $19.29 and she didn't even know about the banner. To the Sizzler management team, please do not use false advertising to lure your customers to dine in your establishment. The Sizzler....brings back so many fond memories of when my dad used to take all 6 of us for "special family dinners". When we used to be considered slightly above middle class...going here in the early to late 90's was a classy time for all to be had. Today I was feeling very nostalgic and decided to treat myself to my favorite and forever predictable salad bar. I remember when my siblings and I would make fun of how my dad would pile his salad plate with all the kidney beans, pepperoncinis, and a side of Jello! Still makes me laugh today...cause its all still there like as if my dad was still around to make a plate. Truly though, I appreciate the consistency this establishment has maintained with its menu...albeit "where my cheese toast at?"...I will always come here while its still in existance. read more

I went here for dinner yesterday, Saturday, June 22, 2019. I was a little apprehensive since it was a Saturday night and thought it would be super busy. It was busy, but not as bad as I thought. There were a number of parking spaces close to the door. I had a 1/3-lb. hand-crafted burger with pepper jack cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and a tomato. It also came with a side, of fries. I think I probably had other choices, but the cashier did not mention this. I used the secret sauce they served with the burger on the fries instead and put ketchup on my burger. The burger was cooked just right (I had mine medium well). My waiter also brought me two slices of garlic cheese toast, which is made with their special butter concoction The toast always comes out as heavy since they put the toppings on thick. This is a good thing, for me at least. The bread will quickly fold in half from the weight if you don't eat it quickly. My server was nice and professional, bringing me water twice. But he did not come back to ask how everything was. I also learned this Sizzler does not include the dessert bar with an entree purchase, the same as the Auburn one. I guess that is the new policy with the California Sizzlers. In Nevada, they still do include it. This Sizzler was clean. Most of the Sizzlers used to be dirty, both the restaurant themselves and the buffet trays, with food always running out, but I guess they have cleaned up their act. The one at Daly City was horrendous; I will have to check that one out now again sometime. I will leave four stars, only because dessert is no longer included and my waiter did not come back to check on my meal. but that is better than I would have left in the past. they have done a good job improving in the past year or so. read more

I used to come to this Sizzler a lot over the years with my family. After not going for years I decided to go back for dinner one night and give it a try with a relative who loves to eat here. I ordered the steak and popcorn shrimp, with a salad bar and the baby back ribs with salad bar. The best thing out of my meal was the clam chowder soup at the salad bar and the Texas toast! At the time they were out of chicken at the salad bar, but everything else was stocked up. The person I was with loved their ribs and said they were very tender. They also liked the vegetable soup from the salad bar. I thought my shrimp was soggy and and the steak was dry. I would definitely go back just for the clam chowder and salad bar. I also ordered the loaded potato wedges, which were topped with steak pieces, bacon bits, onions, and cheese. I tasted them, but they didn't have much flavor. I would definitely bring my family member back as they liked it, I'd probably stick to the salad bar next time. read more

My family and I were in the Pinole area last weekend and seeing as there was a Sizzler in town, we were so excited because it was our favorite place to eat before they shut down all the locations near our house for lack of business sadly. Anyways, we were so excited to eat Sizzler once again but as soon as we entered it became clear that they were understaffed and not only that, their food selection was significantly smaller than that of the Sizzlers we frequently visited (Concord, Antioch, South SF). Even though the restaurant was less than half full, there were many dirty tables and only about 2 servers to account for everyone. Im not knocking on the waiters because they did their absolute best-more so I'm criticizing the management for making the poor waiters deal with more than they're capable of. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and steak and while the steak was amazing and juicy, the shrimp didn't taste like anything- even with sauce and lime. I still enjoyed the meal however . I would say that our experience here was okay however they need to have more waiters on hand because 2 people waiting about 10 different parties is abysmal for such a large chain. read more

At the very best, they did honor my request of NO seasoning. So, WHY did they put rosemary on my steak??!! That is a spice! And who puts rosemary on steak? Yuck! When you order your steak, be sure you order it less cooked than you want. If you want medium well, ask for medium, or it will be well done. Order medium rare for the hint of pink, that should be medium. The server was attentive, until the end. We couldn't catch her to get a to go box. Our order was wrong the server then said he would get us The correct dish we ordered. The food was probably the only good thing about this meal. One of my family members asked for ketchup from the server, we never got it. So my put her family member went up to the front and asked for some ketchup and sugar to sweeten up their ice tea, she returned with ketchup packets that my school cafeteria and with no sugar. The prices have significantly increased, but the quality has taken a nosedive. I'm not saying that Sizzler is the epitome of fine dining, but the salad bar has always been consistently decent. Unfortunately, the selection of items at salad bar has decreased. No more pasta or warm tortillas, for example. The cold pastas mostly had meat, so that didn't work for vegetarians like me. The cornbread was hard as a rock. Even the cheese toast was underwhelming. The server was nice enough until she decided to clear my table while I was only on my second serving. However, she left the table a mess with stacked plates and tomatoes on the chair, which I inadvertently sat on. I also had to flag her down for a soda refill.
