Today I reluctantly went to the Sizzler in Oceanside. I last went here about 10 years ago due to lackluster service and poor tasting food. Tonight however, my sister convinced me to give Sizzler another chance. I was surprised at the friendly and helpful attitude provided by my cashier (Kross) and also by the great customer service provided by Gasey. We had a party of four and we all had our meals delivered in a timely manner. Additionally, the quality and the taste of our meals far exceeded my expectations. We are regulars at this location as my family loves the place. They have really improved and gotten much better over the years. The food is fresh, clean and delicious. But the food speaks for itself. The reason I came here tonight is one of their servers, her name is Melissa. She is one of the best servers there. Her smile lights up the place and she is sweeter than their bread rolls. She has a way with people and makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. Tonight was the second time she had served us,and she went above and beyond to serve us. The senior steak with baked potato & salad bar is always seasoned & cooked to perfection. We dine at this sizzler on weekends & we have a favorite waitress,---Gelsey. I recently went after they remodel, and was impressed by the way they gave the old place a fresh look! The service has greatly improved, though it was quite busy the last time we went in so we did wait a bit for things but overall it was a good experience. My wife and I decided to go here last night after assumed the delicious smell from TJ Maxx was coming from there. We thought it was a normal sit down restaurant but as we walked in the menu was on the wall. We were a little confused as people dressed like servers were at cash registers. There was a girl there that did not acknowledge us. We were looking at the menu which had great prices for what we were getting when a manager walked by us and also did not say anything. This was our first time here so when we ordered with a guy who finally acknowledged us I wasn't aware we tipped before we were apparently served. This is really half ass because unless I have cash I'm not tipping someone before they give me service. When I left one dollar and said I had cash I could see I set the mood for this waiter and already knew this was going to be a crap experience but hoped the food would make up for it. Wrong. Our server brought our drinks and kept my water refilled but not my wife's sprite. He offered dinner rolls which were delicious. My wife for the 11 oz steak a side of broccoli and a baked potato. She scarfed down the sides and left quite a bit of her steak. When I asked her why she said it was very spongey - as she picked up her fork and bounced it off the steak. I agreed with her. My steak was good on the outer parts that actually had flavor but when I got to the middle my steak had no flavor and looked like it had been sitting in water. The coloring when I opened it was unappealing but I was praying it would have tasted better. I had a loaded baked potato and it was awesome. After a few hours though my stomach started to feel on edge, VERY on edge and I have been in and out of the bathroom since then. All in all this place was not worth it. I'm glad we tried it to look at each other and say "we're good with probably never coming back here" and I will unfortunately be spending the day trying not to throw up. Please learn how to season and cook a steak. The tipping system is ridiculous. With the waiters I saw I would not tip them 20% right out the gate and get 10% service... read more

5 stars for a Sizzler?! Am I out of my mind...no, but I am in pleasant shock. Got the Shrimp Alfredo and husband ordered the Tri tip with some rice thing. We also both got unlimited salad bar for a few extra bucks more. The Salad Bar is more like an everything bar : tacos, FRESH fruit, spaghetti + meatballs, 4 soups and so many salad options! Everything was fresh and delicious . 4 stars for the food, and the 5th star for service. A homeless guy walked in and the guy at the counter called him sir and treated him with respect. Smart move on his part, because in this economy, homeless guys have a fatter wallet than we do. read more

Hubby and I discovered the oceanside location after going to the Murrieta Sizzler,which we love!! We are new to the area, living in Fallbrook now but looking for a house in Oceanside so we were excited when the management in Murrieta told us about their partner store in Oceanside which had undergone the same great remodel. We found the food items to be the same but that's where the similarity stops! The management and servers are a whole different caliber. Attention to detail deffinitely is not there. We visited on a busy weekend day and the bathrooms were filthy and there was trash running over into the floor and they were out of tissue. I brought it to the attention of one of the workers refilling the salad bar who made no comment, not sure if she understood English, but another visit after dinner proved no improvement. The salad bar itself was untidy to say the least, Nothing like the Murrieta store, where they quickly took care of any spills and made sure everything was refilled, fresh and impeccabley clean and shiny. The employees who take the orders at the front desk are friendly but the rest of the workers mope around in a daze. most of The servers act as if they could care less about serving you.(there is one male exception who was very good on our second visit). We want to like this place so we'll keep coming back in hopes it improves. We think the owners should drop in from time to time for a good look at what's going on..why the huge difference from the Murrieta store ?? Oh, and what's up with the cheesy silverware? Now I'm just getting picky but when you pick up that paper thin fork, you wonder if it's going to bend in half when your cutting the steak. read more

Haven't been here in forever. We thought we would try it and bam! It's good! Steak and endless salad bar. Steak has been cooked as ordered each time. Salad bar isn't extensive but offers enough to make a good salad. There's also an extra area to the salad bar which includes tacos stuff, baked potatoes, soup and fried chicken. I order all you can eat salad bar and never even received the Baked Potato with it. Then they said I had ordered the endless shrimp plate, which I did. I had come back with my first plate of endless salad bar and then they had wanted to know where to place my really big plate of shrimp down. I had to throw my napkins put of the way. My mother ordered a rare steak and received it medium well done. I ordered water and of course I was served last while the server was running around getting their Tea's and what note's. So I just went to dinner here and I must say I love the salad and desert bar. Not a bad selection of adult beverages either. I felt like the biggest pain purely because I had to send my Medium Rare steak back because it was overcooked(and for me it was not something I could suck it up in eat, talk about an all American girl lol) however they were so receptive of bringing out another. The manager brought it out and made sure it was up to standard by waiting till I cut into it and saw my beautiful pink slightly bleeding steak. I forgot that I probably should have assumed that in a kitchen things come out slightly more cooked due to health codes and what have you. Came here for Valentines Day, and headed here extra early to make sure we were ahead of the crowds. I had never been to a Sizzler before but after driving by it every day I had to try it out! I got the salad bar option as did my boyfriend, and I was very impressed by the salad and topping selection! As a vegetarian, I was worried there wouldn't be a lot to choose from, but after 3 full plates of different salads/dressings/toppings, plus a big bowl of mac n cheese, I was totally satisfied. WOW! What a great sirloin steak. My wife and I got the Senior Sallad Combos. Incredible deal. 6 oz sirloin, for me, plus full salad bar for $16.99, with a beverage. But the best part was the incredible steak. Juicy and tender. It really was amazing. And of course they do have the best salad bar around. And the restaurant is so much nicer than you would ever think of a Sizzler, if you grew up going to Sizzler's in the old day. Service was great. This is one of the most underrated restaurants of all time. No, I'm not old. 37 to be exact. They have one of the best salad bars around. All their red meats are awesome. OK, I admit it. My wife and I love this place. We both travel on business all over the world and can eat in fancy restaurants as we wish. And we do. But when home if we want a Saturday lunch date, followed by a nap, this is the go to place. The food is surprisingly good. People always dis chain places but we all eat at them because 1) we know what we are getting; 2) the food is acceptable; and, 3) reasonably priced. But the fact is we eat at chains. I really like this link in this chain so I want to give it a serious review. Work with me on this. Remember the nap comment above? We usually go to get pleasantly sated and for me that means ordering one of the bigger steaks. I take most of it home because frankly I like cold left over steak better. That means get the all you can eat salad bar. It has a wide selection and is fresh. The problem with a lot of chains is the salad bar items all taste the same. Not here. The service is great. The gentleman who was our server was literally the most upbeat, friendly (without being a pain) server we have ever experienced anywhere. This was not a fluke as we have had him before. The staff is all good. You are not going to brag to your friends you went to Sizzler on a weekend date but if you like steak or chicken, and want to pleasantly stuff your face on fixings, it doesn't get much better. I think this is my first sizzler experience ever...GROSS. I ordered the chicken with melted cheese on cheese bread and the sautéed spinach. Sandwich was greasy as all heck and the sautéed spinach had what tasted like salad dressing on it. Just a total flop. I am so sorry I ate there while there was a good looking noodle house in the same mini mall. On a positive note my waitress was beautiful. Get out of Sizzler girl. 10 years ago, after several unchewable steaks, my family quit the Sizzler. Since then it's been remodeled, but retains much of the old menu. Last week I was emailed a coupon for a free Chicken Malibu dinner, something I hadn't tried. So I went alone at lunchtime, ordered the free Malibu, and paid for a side of sautéed mushrooms. Both cashier and waiter were personable, the place looked great, but soon the food arrived. Each mushroom had been burned crispy black on one side, so I cut the char off and ate what I could. The chicken was small and thin, crispy with ham and cheese on top, but a cold mushy underside coating. Then I tried a bite of mashed potatoes. Whoops. The hard ball of butter rolled off them onto my plate and my fork went CRUNCH. Crunch? Icicle crystals crunching? Yep, the potatoes weren't even thawed. How did the kitchen staff and waiter miss that one? While waiting for the waiter to return, I cut the meat to see if the middle was warm, which it was. But the thawing potatoes had made a cold water puddle, seeping under it. When the waiter arrived, I showed him the situation. He took the potatoes, gravy and meat to the kitchen, and returned with hot potatoes, but no fresh chicken, just the cold mushy pieces. I know it was free, but why do such a bad job on what was supposed to be a good promotion? On my way out, I spoke to the manager about the burned and frozen meal. He said he would look into it, and that was that. It was too bad, because it's in my neighborhood, and after the beautiful remodel, I'd really wanted to like the place. read more
