Sinigual - Two tacos carnitas - Mexican Near Me - Manhattan, New York

See all

Ive been here a few times and recently dined at Sinigual with a very large group that I invited so here is my review: Service - fast, attentive but sloppy (bus boys move at super speed but are a bit sloppy. Will remove your fork & knife from the plate with food on it and place it right on the table for your next course, disgusting) Food - Good but nothing special. I have yet to go YUM! STAY AWAY from the lobster quesadilla... multiple people ordered it and it was gross to us all. Drinks - Good read more

Me and my lady stopped in for lunch. Very nice atmosphere and service was a 5. I had the chicken fajitas salad was good and my lady had the combo plate. I would most definitely come back again. Our server Isabel was awesome.. read more

So disappointed in this place They should have paid us to eat here. The chicken was so dry, our combo plater also had a very dry tamale. The service was so horrible the waiter didn't come over for over an hour. We couldn't get more drinks, water or food for the person who joined us late. They also had the nerve to charge us $6 to off set them paying their staff do the minimum wage tax. I wouldn't be returning here again read more

This place has an upscale chain like feel to it, and in New York City that can be a novelty, so that actually added to my loving this restaurant. The food is friggin delicious. At chains like The Cheesecake Factory and Houston's you know you're going to get something delicious, with huge (probably fattening) portions, with professional and efficient service (at least once you actually get a seat) and this place is no exception. The staff seemed to be so perfectly trained that they are like robots who don't mess up. The food is so formulaicly prepared that it's going to be that good and pretty every time. Even though I hardly ever frequent those types of restaurants the reliability is extremely refreshing. It is kind of like an older business crowd, but that's to be expected from its midtown east location. It's not a hip, cool, trendy restaurant, but the food is worth it for anyone to make a trip there, even if you are hip, cool, and trendy. read more

The food we had at lunch was good, though there is no lunch menu (dinner prices only). We thought that the addition of the "surcharge" to cover their expenses was a bit unusual. So we propably wouldn't go back much because of this hidden cost. It's really not a cheap place. read more

I am giving three stars for the food and ambience only. I have been here three times for lunch and the service has taken so so long, it's crazy. Each time we have eaten here we have to keep reminding the servers that we ordered drinks, this time we had to order our drinks at least three times. It was so slow we ordered two drinks at one time! I thought I'd found a great lunch spot but unfortunately I can't come back due to the slow service..... I could see the same thing was happening at other tables, with one guest chasing down a server just to pay! There is something going wrong here with the service? I didn't appear to see a manager anywhere during our stay overseeing. read more

I took my friend there the other day. He's a real gourmet foody, very picky, so I was nervous... I like the place, I've been there several times, good price, good food, great location, atmosphere, nice staff... Anyway, my friend just loved that' as well as everybody else, I was the cool guy with the good choice. Thumbs up! read more

Vanessa, our server, was the best. A bright smile and positive attitude go a long way to making an experience memorable and a Dude hope :) Anyway, the food was ok. The margaritas - I guess you can take the Dude out of LA but you can't take the LA outta the Dude. This Dude likes margaritas cheap, wet and fast . . . Ours were moderate price, heavy on the sauza and slow. But, our bartender also declined to blend us a drink when others were being served the same so not sure what his problem was...maybe his little dude was not gettin' any ?? LOL Good ribs. Chicken stack. Fajitas ample but The Dude will take Don Cucos fajitas any day over these. Singual reason to go back - Vanessa no doubt. And, there's always room for redemption by any NYC joint for a foodie. We'll go back and give it another go! read more

The food was very good but the service was poor. I waited over 15 minutes to order my food. Server was not the best .... dont think I will be returning... read more

Sinigual - Good happy hour drinks... - Mexican Near Me - Manhattan, New York

Had a wonderful happy hour dinner. Margaritas were really tasty! Kaylee was our waitress and she was very attentive. The homemade tortillas were freshly made and came with a mild and spicy salsa as well as some tasty butter. It was happy hour so the three of us had several margaritas and they were yummy! We split a platter of 8 tacos - 4 chicken and 4 steak. My son had fajitas that smelled and looked great. He said they were very good. Overall definitely a place to try if you haven't already. read more

Sinigual is one of my favorite places to grab a good meal, with great customer service and great pricing. For the past three years I've been visiting Sinigual and have ALAWAYS enjoyed my go-to Mojitio. However, in the last few weeks I've discovered their Sangria! Life changing! Their tacos are good, the guac is amazing as is the grilled chicken with vegetables. I love this place and will more than likely be back in the next few days! read more

Food is excellent! Super authentic Mexican. My server was Raul and he was great! Very friendly and attentive. Nice ambience, great for date night. Tortilla chips are sooo good! I ordered the chile relleno. Good, but cheese was a little too creamy for me. Do not order unless you LOVE cheese! read more

Lazarro. BEST Waiter Ever.. Very Attentive and service with a smile!!!! Margaritas were awesome!!

I came here with a friend who works in Manhattan but commutes out of Grand Central. I looked on Yelp for "places near Grand Central" and this came up with great reviews. Perhaps these reviewers were all drunk when they wrote them? That is the only reason I can think of for why someone would send someone here for the food. The service was adequate. My margarita though pricy was good and what I would expect to pay for the area. The food, however, was large and terrible. My steak fajitas (recommended by the waiter) which I ordered rare, were well done. I had to ask for a knife because I could not bite though the tough meat. (I would have sent it back but my friend was telling me about some very upsetting news she just got). The guacamole was basically a poor attempt at mushing an underripe avocado into which she put cheese. Cheese? I have never even heard of cheese in guacamole. And I have to say I do not recommend it. We asked for spicy - it was not. She got a combo and it was cold and the cheese was oily and looked like it had been sitting for a bit. When the waiter AND the floor manager came to clear the plates they must have thought that I had an eating disorder because all the meat was still on my plate and the waiter did not ask if there was anything wrong with the meat, nor did he ask if I wanted to take it to go. Manager just said "good evening". (Yes, yes, I could have said something to him at this point, but friend was going through something more important that my fajita so I wanted to focus on her) I had a second specialty margarita - that helped. The bill was over $100 for 2 people, she didn't drink, I ate when I got home because I was still hungry. read more

I had a great experience and really enjoyed the service of ally. She was a great waitress who recommended the Cadillac margarita which was amazing!!! read more

Good but not great. I prefer Dos Caminos on Spring for ambiance, margaritas and guacamole. Go if convenient, but make the trip to Dos Caminos if you're picking a restaurant and willing to go anywhere in Manhattan. read more

Grilled pineapple margarita was excellent. Staff friendly and killer bar and restaurant ambience.

This is a good place to have lunch when your company is paying but feels terribly overpriced when it's on your own dime. A margarita, chicken fajita and a third share of a guacamole bowl comes out to $53 after tax and tip and that seems like a ridiculous price to pay for lunch. The food is filling but I wouldn't call it exceptional Mexican in any way. The service is consistently good though. Since it's conveniently located and always has a table without a long wait I'll keep coming back here. read more

Good service from Alan and Alexis, good food and drinks too! They were very attentive to our large group.

Came in for a lunch at 2pm empty restaurant but long wait and no service not even water for more than 10 minutes. Left and will not be returning. read more

This place is everything. It's the most authentic high end Mexico food I've have ever had. The environment is so romantic and also great for family dinners. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and in a great area. If you love Mexican food and live in NYC you must come here. They make the guacamole in front of you which is always nice. The meals are very large you will most likely be bringing some home. Don't forget to get one of there amazing deserts. read more

Let's start with dessert. Because that was, by far, the highlight of the meal. Fried ice cream. Just get it. I promise. You won't regret it. And don't offer to share it because then you won't get enough of it! Main courses were good. I had the fish tacos - tasty, but nothing special. Boyfriend had lobster quesadilla. The bite I had was delicious, but it was way too rich for my taste. We started with the steak nachos, which were very tasty. My only complaint was that the server did not bring the drink I ordered but brought a cheaper version. She charged me for the cheaper version, so it wasn't a value issue, but I really prefer a nicer tequila than the one in my margarita. read more

Sinigual is not really fantastic authentic Mexican food, in my opinion. But I'm giving it 3 stars anyway, and here's why. I've come here several time forwork lunches and dinners. It has a sufficiently varied menu to allow even my picky-eating boss to find something with absolutely NO spiciness in it whatsoever. There are several lovely salads for "eating light" people. There are delicious ribs and succulent steaks for the carnivores. The margaritas are good, the portions are generous and I've never had a bad meal here. I'm not a fan of the desserts though - they are a little disappointing. This is a great place for groups. Its a big space by New York standards, and they always manage to find a table for 6 or 8 at fairly short notice. I'll continue to come here for work functions, because the service is fast and efficient and they can quickly turnaround a table of 8 over lunch without making the process feel rushed. read more

Was in NYC for the week for work... always in the mood to try the nearest "Mexican" place in a major city, we happened upon Sinigual. As far as frou frou Mexican places go, the menu was pretty good, decent prices but above all the drinks were *great*. (I had the skinny-gual margarita - a combination of tequila, fresh lime juice and some calorie free sweetener - totally yum!) They also make fresh guacamole at your table for you as starters. We ended up just having the soup with shrimp appetizer to start. All in all, it was a good experience. I probably liked it because it totally seemed like a displaced restaurant from the West Coast than belonging in New York... I would definitely tell anyone to give it a try at least once! read more

I give Sinigual 3.5 stars for dinner. I will round up to 4, reason being it is hard to come by good Mexican restaurants in NYC or anywhere on the East Coast. And I must say this is one of the better Mexican restaurants in all of NYC. The food is pretty good, the ambiance is nice, and the service is great. They start you off by serving warm tortillas instead of chips. This is an interesting business decision. I personally did not mind, but think that most customers would prefer chips over tortillas. This would also be more cost-effective. To start, I had the guacamole, which they make table-side. I appreciate when restaurants do this because it ensure the food is fresh. I also tried the steak nachos which were pretty yummy too. I am not a big steak eater, but I actually really liked these. For dinner, I had the grilled chicken and roasted corn enchiladas with chipotle sauce. This was a great combination and I enjoyed every bite. I would get this dish again. I would recommend checking out Sinigual if you are craving Mexican food in NYC. read more

Came here for a buddies birthday and never realized how big this place was. It is a great spot for groups! Drinks are great, food is just so-so. Don't think anybody actually finished all of their food. Probably just going to stick with Dos Caminos for my tex-mex party mexican fix. read more

I would give four stars, but they took the lobster quesadilla off the menu! :( it was my absolute favorite. Bring it back please!!

Pros: - Unique take on "chips and salsa" - Excellent Service - Good modern atmosphere Cons - A little pricey for what you get - Food was good, but not great This was my first stop at Sinigual on third. We wanted some Mexican, and almost went to some cheap little place around the corner, but instead thought we would step it up a little. This was a happy medium between Qdoba and a $$$$ cantina. It was a Sunday night, and the place was pretty deserted, so we were seated right away. We were quickly met by Louis, who was probably the highlight of the meal. He was very friendly and attentive to detail, and explained anything and everything we asked with ease. He also double checked the order after we made it since there were a few alterations, which I always appreciate. We ordered drinks and while he was getting those together we got the "chips and salsa" I was referring to earlier. In the midwest where I'm from, all Mexican restaurants have chips and salsa at the table. I was expecting the same here but got a pleasant surprise. A tray came out with three small dishes. We also got warm flour tortillas. When Louis came back, he explained that one was a fresh salsa, the other was the same salsa cooked over heat to sweeten and carmalize, and the last was an orange zest cinnamon butter. I was a little embarrassed to ask how to assemble these treats, so I just kind of went at it. I probably made them incorrectly, but they were good none the less. For my entree I got the house specialty, which was a lobster enchilada, a cilantro rice, black refried beans, and a steak soft taco. Black refried beans were good, they had a nice shredded cheese on top. The lobster enchilada, was also good, lots of chunks of meat. It had a nice sweet sauce on top. I love cilantro, so the rice was excellent, and the steak soft taco was just about what you would expect. The portion size was a little small, but normal for some place a little more upscale. My only real complaints were that the food (although it came out very fast) was more or less lukewarm. I don't need steaming hot by any means, but I felt like it was hot 20 minutes ago and sat out before it came to me. I know that's not what happened, but that's how it felt. Also, for $25, I would have liked to have seen a bigger portion. I know $25 isn't expensive by Manhattan standards, but I could have gotten something close to as good at Qdoba for half that price. Overall, it was good, but certainly not great. For the price, I would probably try somewhere else a little "nicer". Again, the service was fabulous, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to the service. read more

Mexico City meets Paris meets Marakesh. Creative, Innovative, Sabrosa, Cool. There is something about this place that makes you feel great even before you eat anything. And when the food does come, the sexy presentation alone inspires an orgasmic response but when the food finally hits those tastebuds.... ooooooh ,You'll want to make it last as long as possible. read more

Food was good but didn't blow my mind. There were some nice touches but overall pretty mediocre. Service was far below average too for the price point. I had the guacamole and yucca fries to start. The dipping sauce that comes with the fries is AMAZING but I've have better made to order guacamole. The consistency was too smooth and the over all taste wasn't "fresh" enough. I did appreciate that "medium" heat really was a bit spicy though. One thing that was impressive was the honey butter that came with the tortillas at the beginning. Surprisingly good. For entrees I got the Special halibut w/ mashed potatoes and swiss chard. My bf got the chile rellenos. I thought the halibut was overcooked and borderline dry. Everything else was just OK. My bf's chile was good but the sides were a bit bland. He's also a vegetarian and there were limited options for him. The service wasn't awful but it definitely didn't raise to the level I was expecting for the price point and the area. I've had better service as casual restaurants like Applebees and TGI Fridays. They need to step it up! I probably won't be back. It wasn't terrible but I'm sure there are better (and cheaper) options for Mexican food in New York. read more

This place has potential, but they need better management. The decor of the restaurant is really nice. I actually expected the place to be more pricey, but the menu prices were pretty reasonable ($22 for a steak fajita). The steak fajita was pretty decent. Not overly seasoned, grilled and sizzling when it arrived at your table. I was satisfied. What I was not satisfied with was the absolute terrible service. It took 15 minutes to get our water from the time we asked for it. Our waiter never bothered to ask if we wanted our drinks refilled, or if we wanted more flour tortillas. Didn't bother to check to see if our entrees came out ok. I honestly thought he left. We had to walk up to the hostess stand and ask the hostess to find our waiter so that we could get our check. The management seemed completely absent and didn't seem to care. I could understand if our waiter was gone for 15 minutes, but he disappeared from the time he brought our drinks from the bar, and then again after he brought our water. The place wasn't busy and the majority of the tables were empty. read more

This has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in NYC. Sinigual's margaritas and ceviche were identical to how I had experienced them in SoCal...so identical that something seemed odd about it! Turns out they are the same company as El Torito in SoCal, and I am thrilled about this. Everyone talks about Dos Caminos, which is junk central if you've ever had real Mexican food. If nothing else, just get a cadillac margarita there. So worth it. read more

Went with a friend for lunch on our vacation. The decor was very peaceful and the waiters were very handsome. As for the food it was very tasty. Everything tastes fresh. We went in the middle of the day on a Sunday so not crowded and we were checked up on by the manager. All in all it was a pleasure to eat there and a great find thanks to yelp. read more

What a wonderful place on 3rd Ave. for good inexpensive food. They have a good Happy Hour with $5 Margaritas and the Staff is friendly.

Fun place. Great margaritas. Guac portion seems to have shrunk -- supply chain issues? Inflation? Not sure. However, Adriana was an absolute delight. Great energy, attentive, and shared thoughtful recommendations. If you're at her table, you're in great hands! read more
