I went to Baby Blue on May 9th and got the most amazing, perfect, super hot and beautiful tattoo ever! This being my 2nd tattoo and the 1st being could politely described as a **** ordeal, I felt like I should shop around before I shelled out the big bucks! So like most people I wanted the eternal body art to be perfect and precise. And just like everybody who has ever gotten a tattoo, I didn't want to give somebody my hard earned and precious dollars and get treated like a bag of baby diapers! There's NO reason why a business which you're supporting should provide you with sub par service or a **** you attitude! I live in Dupont Circle and Silver Spring seemed like a bit of a hike, but when I actually stopped to think about it, a 30 minute trip was well worth getting something that I was going to have on my body forever! Plus, I figured, "whynot?" Besides, I have a car, and I'd spent countless hours driving around for far less "important" things! So I drove out to this place, pulled into the off street parking lot, and went inside. There was an exceptionally friendly and young Asian girl, "Amy" who looked to be in her early 20's working the counter. She was very nice to me! I was actually shocked when she asked me "how I was doing?" and smiled! I guess it was because my last tattoo place in Dupont Circle was a real pseudo-cool, condescending, we're better than you, disparaging kind of place, I guess I wasn't expecting somebody so cool and outgoing! I really liked the fact that she told me Baby Blue is a family business, owned/operated by her mother who was away on errands, and she was holding down the fort. Her younger brother was also their taking inventory of their body jewelry collection.... She asked me what I wanted, took a look at my sketch, chatted with me about the difference between getting color and just a plain black outline. She then asked me to wait and she had one of their senior artists "Jon" who also happen to be her "cousin" come out and talk to me in detail. He gave me references, and told me about he places he'd worked, and had been all over the country from Florida to California, to Colorado. He showed me all his up to date Certificates and trophies he'd won. He was just as cool, patient, and friendly as she was, and he made me feel really safe and comfortable by showing me all his picture albums. And I really liked the tattoos he had on both of his arms. Once I actually saw the amazingly creative pics of his works, I knew that I was definitely in the right place. I made an appointment for following week, left the customary deposit and returned at 1pm on May 9th. Jon was very professional, he was actually on time, and he had everything sketched out and ready to go which really amazed me! My 1st tattoo I'd gotten in Dupont, the guy was an hour late, and I had to sit and wait another hour and half while he sketched everything out! This really mad me furious because I'd given him the image almost a month earlier and left a deposit! So there was no need for him to procrastinate until the last minute and have me sitting around twiddling my thumbs! Which on top of, every 10 minutes he'd stop to take a phone call or send a text which drove me nuts! Jon had initially told me 3 hours but he ended up getting it done in a lil over 2 hours. I was very very ecstatic and happy with the end product! It looks exactly like how I'd envisioned it, and just the way I wanted it. Everything is perfect, all the lines, the proportions, and the shading. So if you're thinking of a tattoo, whether its your 1st or 5th, believe me this is the place you can actually TRUST! Their shop is clean, tidy, friendly, and very professional! I recommend "Baby Blue" with 5 stars all the way because you can't go wrong here! I came to Baby Blue tattoo last week thinking about a few different tattoos that I had drawn a few years back but just never really had either the gall nor the Yen to get! So I found this place based on 2 pretty awesome Yelp reviews, but since I don't have a car, my friend drove me out to University Blvd in Silver Spring which took about 20 minutes. When I came in I was suprised to see how clean and tidy it was! Usually tattoo shops are infamous for durty durty facilities and the durty durty attitudes of their employees! Not so at Baby Blue. I spoke with the owner, Cathy a Asian lady who was really helpful. She even gave me a few options with different prices based on ink/no ink and med/large size. Over the years we've all heard those tattoo horror stories, i.e. crooked tattoos, hepatitis, nasty facilities, vicious unexperienced artists, fading/greening ink, and just overall horrific jobs! When I saw some of the albums at Baby blue I was amazed and really surprised to see the level of both creative, artistic, astonishing tattoos that they do. And I felt really comfortable dealing with them just because of how nice they were to me! I went to a few places for estimates, and I'm not going to drop names but they were all very very unpleasant, obnoxious, and haughty to say the least! Just down right rude! I decided to go with the medium size, and I made an appointment for yesterday. I got their around 2pm. Jon who was my tattoo artist was amazing! He did such an amazing amazing job! I LOVE IT! Its just what I had in mind! I'm so so so happy and elated that I actually was lucky enough to find such a cool, clean, and professional place. Not only do I give them 5 stars but I recommend them all the way! You won't be sorry! I found these guys on Yelp. I had gotten a tattoo back about 12 years ago when I was living in LA, and unfortunately it had begun to fade. I guess that the ink wasn't probably the best. So I went in to see these guys to get advice on what could be done. Even though I live in Dupont-Adams Morgan, I went to a place on 18th street and another joint in Georgetown just to get estimates and advice. I was very turned off by the ridiculously inappropriately impertinent, insolent, careless attitudes of the employees at both places. At the joint in Georgetown, I just stood there for 6 minutes listening to the girl make her weekend plans before she finally talked to me with a cheeky attitude. So I drove down on a weekday and I spoke with the owner, "Cathy" who was very kind, I went in around lunch time, and everybody was eating pizza, and they offered me a slice.... Of course, I wasn't hungry but it was the thought that counts. Jon, who is also her nephew, was working that afternoon, so he and I talked about re-inking or just getting something new to cover it. I didn't know that was an option.... Mind you the two other scalawag, seedy, degenerate places I'd gone to hadn't even advised me of such a choice. But still I had to think about it, if I was going to cover it, it had to be something of personal value. obviously. It took me some time, about 2 months, but I finally came up with something really nice, so I went in last Saturday and had Jon do it up for me! I'm very happy, it looks even better than what is now under it. And the greatest thing is, you can't even tell that there's something underneath. Jon is a tattoo maven! I'm so so happy that I found this place on Yelp! I got the most hottest, cool, gorgeous, and incredible tattoo!! I Love Baby Blue tattoo! Cathy, the owner was such a nice, helpful, and cool lady to work with. I went in on Wednesday, and I figured that I'd have to make an appointment and come back. But since I went there an hour after they'd opened, she took a look at my tattoo sketch, and since I just wanted an outline of two Tiger claws on the right side of my butt to cover up a mole. She took me right away since she didn't have anybody booked until another 2 hours. She prepped me, drew my sketch outline, and I was in and out of their within an unbelievably quick hot 90 minutes! Since this was actually my 3rd tattoo, I was extremely impressed with the level of professionalism, work ethic/environment, creative expertise, customer care, and incredible prices at Baby Blue tattoo. Its strictly business here. NO loud obnoxiously brain shattering music blasting! NO awkward beady-eyed loitering weirdos! NO disparaging, condescending, wanna-be, pseudo-cool, passive-aggressive tattoo parlor attitude! And NO unprofessional fratenizing or flirting or vulgar, cursing! The shop is extremely well kept and organized, and extremely clean. When you park right outside in their private lot, you walk into the office/front sitting area with all their albums, books, posters, and jewelery displays. And the tattooing stations are back in a private area in seperate cut off corridors. I'm so so happy that I found Baby Blue tattoo and got my incredible dream tattoo just in time for the summer, so I can show it off at the beach and pool! Thanks Cathy and family. When I was shopping around for a place to get my 3rd tattoo, I surveyed Yelp for some help! And even though Baby Blue only had about 4 or so reviews, it was the only place which didn't have just as many bad negative reviews to match! So last Wednesday I drove up to Silver Spring and talked to the leading tattoo artist, Jon, who to my surprise was not only a very talented national artist, but he was a very humble, outgoing, charismatic kinda guy. I was surprised just because about 98% of the shops I'd ever visited were run by some straight up *sshole *ickhead holier than thou guys. I have no idea which stupid mother****** came up with the ideology that a tattoo shops employees should treat their customers like garbage! Because somehow I guess that's the norm all around! But me personally, I agree with Jeff G. I'm not desperate enough for anything to let somebody treat me like less of a human being. Anyhow, right off, it seemed like we got along like two old war buddies, so I left a deposit, and I returned yesterday on saturday 7/25 for the job. It wasn't anything super intricate, I was getting my mother's and sisters names on either shoulder. The whole deal took about 90 minutes. And I love the finished product! Jon was amazing! He not only did a great job shading the letters, but they both look amazingly perfect, almost as if they're stickers or something! So if you're looking for the best tattoo shop in the area, with a talented, awesome artist, then head to Baby Blue because they are true blue and you won't be disappointed! read more

I am just now beginning to understand why Yelp is so awesome! Because if it weren't for Yelp, I would've never found Baby Blue Tattoo in Silver Spring! Now only did I get an amazing tattoo, I couldn't believe the ridiculous price I paid for just a short 20 drive to the Burbs! I'm not going to mention the 2 other incredibly stuck up, rude, and dirty places that I visited in Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan, but I'm sure a lil review research will identify those numbskull tattoo shops like sore thumbs. However Baby Blue Tattoo is by far in a league of its own. If I could give 6 Stars I would because I am so happy and impressed with my body art done by Jon. I can't begin to describe what an amazing and beautiful job he did. I couldn't have been more happy with it, if I'd done it myself or had it done on Miami Ink! Because really Miami or LA ink got nothing on this guy Jon! So if you're looking for a professional, talented, awesome tattoo artist, then look no further! I live in Dupont, but I got my Zip Car and made the trip. Totally worth every mile and every penny! You know its a tattoo, you're going to have it forever! Another great family owned and operated establishment I found on Yelp!!! So I went in here with a few ideas for an amazing tattoo I've had in mind for about a year or two. I drove here back in February, and I talked to the owner Cathy. She's this adorable, young, beautiful, little Vietnamese lady who's just going to win you over. She gave me a few estimates. Even though her prices were fantastic...(This was the 6th place I went into)....I decided to put it off and left that day because I needed to give it some more thought. So last week I finally went back, and since it was a Monday, they were pretty slow. She took me right away and her nephew, Jonny did my beautiful tattoo. He's an awesome artist, who's covered in lots of amazing body work himself. He was very quick, sharp, and had such microscopic precision. So if you're shopping around, I highly recommend this place. Its a total winner. These guys have a wonderful team of seasoned national artist who know what they're doing. And they'll be all ears, not a bunch of fast talking know-it-all skeeters! Besides, if you're getting a tattoo, I agree with all the other reviewers, you should give you business to somebody who's at least worthy and deserving of your hard earned dollars. OH YEAH BABY! CAUSE ITS BABY BLUE TATTOO BABY! I got the DOPEST HOT BANGA-DOCIOUS tattoo today! The ink hasn't dried yet but the verdict on Baby Blue is in! 5 Stars all the way! Let me tell you, its not in the city, but take my word for it when I say its worth the 22 minute drive out to Silver Spring! I CAN NOT believe what a HOT job that Asian cat Jon did! He is MONEY! My girlfriend dropped me off and came back to pick me up, and now she wants to get one too! This place is all that and then some! 4 REAL!!! I absolutely love this place. Used to go to different shops for my first tattoo but overall best place in the area. Clean. Friendly. Great Conversations with José today when I went in.
