~ LASHES REVIEW ~ So as previously mentioned, I caved and got megavolume lash extensions here. Now I'm addicted and have to get them forever. It's a blessing and a curse. My first lashes appointment was with Fernanda and they looked great, but they all fell out when I went on vacation and my face was assaulted by the wind and salt water of the Pacific - I also didn't know you have to wash them to prevent oily buildup, so yeah. I came back two weeks later with literally no extensions left and had to pay for a full set all over again rather than a touch-up. I do wish they had told me about needing to wash them, because I really wasn't provided with the full aftercare instructions the first time I got them. But, now I know. They sell a special foam wash and gentle applicator for the soap here, which I recommend purchasing. My second session was with Viktoriia, who is absolutely incredible. Mynx & Inks is definitely out of the way if you live in DC, but it's worth it for the fair pricing and amazing quality. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. The owner is the worst. I scheduled an appointment first thing in the AM and rang the doorbell since the store wasn't opened. I waited at least 30 minutes and when she finally showed she tried to blame me for being late. But more importantly they use so much glue on my lashes that it made my lashes brittle. I noticed my lashes kept breaking so I stopped going. Now I go to Sen Lashes. Not only is Sen Lashes super gentle on my lashes but the owner is super sweet and accommodating. read more

I came to Layla for a simple eyebrow wax. I had horrid eyebrows with no great shape, and was hopeful she could at least help me clean them up. She exceeded my expectations and gave me beautifully clean brows that were symmetrical and not too thin. She was very gentle and professional and gave me tips for skin care as well. I was ignored the whole time until someone decided to respond at 11:30am saying can you be here by 12pm... at that point I was so disappointed and upset at the lack of communication and care for their clients time and schedules so I said no, had they told me to come at 12pm from 10am when they opened I would've moved my day around to be there but thinking you can tell me to come in 30 minutes before is completely and utterly inconsiderate. I then called the store to talk to someone about the poor customer service I had just received to get the owner of the establishment on the phone telling me that "If you're mad then you don't have to come back, we are short staffed right now so you can't expect our communication to be the best"...???? I've always been unfortunate enough to have sparse eyebrows but not anymore thanks to Layla's precise hands. My girlfriend got hers done and she told me it cut down her makeup routine by 10-15 mins so I figured I would go for it and if I hated then... well I would be screwed but I digress. During my first appointment with Layla, we discussed what I was looking for & what my trouble spots were. Then she took about 30-40 minutes drawing the outline for my new brows and I appreciated her checking, double checking and rechecking to make sure this is exactly what I wanted because if wasn't again I'd be screwed. After my confirmation, she got to work. Now, I was warned this would hurt but damn does it sting! Especially after the numbing cream wears off but man oh man is it worth it. I love how I can walk around bared faced with only just a touch of mascara and my brows are litty!!!! I just clean them up every couple of weeks by following the outline and Im good. SO, if you're hesitant, just bite the bullet and do it! The little bit of irritation you feel is nothing compared to the final results. Now my eyebrows stay fresh to death! read more

When I called to make an appointment on August 31 at 2.18pm. the receptionist was very helpful to find an space for me and she called me back later giving me an appointment for September 01 at 1.15pm with a new technician and I took it. She request my credit card information to secure de appointment and she mentioned that no charges will be apply . Since I have a difficulty with my schedule, I called her back immediately the same day at 3:15pm (12 minutes later) to cancel the appointment and she canceled and she mentioned that my credit card was not going to have any charges. Today Sep. 08, I was checking my bank statement and I found a charge posted on the same day Sep.01 of $ 27.43 . Immediately I call at 240-480-3073 and a men answer the phone and he told me that they charge a fee of $ 50.00 for make an appointment and it's not refundable. I consider that this people (staff)are stilling money from clients. I was refer for a friend, but unfortunately I am very disappointed. Awful customer service, they dont' understand circumstances, they just want your money. No clue about keeping new clients. MYNX out of preferred vendors list. This was my first time using Mynx for lashes. I had a great experience when I got a lash lift and tint by Katherine. So, when my regular place was unavailable, I instantly thought about Mynx. My appointment this time was with Karen and she did not provide the best experience. I guess it was my fault for having high expectations. She was not friendly, she was critical, and she charged me more than quoted. I specifically asked her if what she planned to do would change the price and she told me no, however, when it came time to pay it was more than I expected. Also, I have been getting my lashes done for a while and I have not had my lashes fall off as fast as they are after Karen did them. I will never go back to Mynx. First can we talk about the owner Layla? Initially she worked at a spa for 4 years and learned the ins-and-outs for the spa business. She then began to really get an interest in the field and took classes and received her certifications to begin her practice! She started off in college in the medical field in hopes to help others but found a way to help others in another way, by helping people with their appearance in the way that she does she is helping people reach a level of satisfaction and love for themselves! Who said beauty was pain? Layla made the process so easy! Initially I was referred by my friend whose mother and friend got their micro blading done by Layla. March was the last month of Layla honoring the $150 deal on micro blading so it booked up very fast but she was able to work with my schedule. The location is nice, office is clean and sanitary! Layla consulted with me prior before anything, we went over my likes and dislikes about my eye brows and how I would prefer them to ensure she is able to meet my needs. She then had me lay down and numbed my eye brows for 20 minutes and then she drew the shape with an eye liner prior before and reviewed with me to make sure we were both on the same page. After she finalized and made sure I was okay with what the eye brows would look like she then had me lay down and began to blade my eye brows. Now when I say blade it may sound intimidating but the feeling is more like a scrape, the noise of the scrape is more annoying than the pain, it was less than 10 minutes and she was done! After she was done she put the black dye on the eye brows and wiped them off after a couple minutes so I could check how they looked. I was so excited from the outcome I just was like yes I love it but what I love about Layla is that she is a perfectionist! She didn't want me to leave until my eyebrows were perfect and that is exactly what she ended up doing, perfecting my eye brows. Nina just joined Layla Aesthetics and I went to her for waxing. Waxing any part of your body is far from fun, yet Nina distracted me with good conversation and, to be quite honest, this experience was quick and the least painless compared to others. Their costs are totally reasonable too! As for Layla, I'm one of those nice customers with plenty of questions and a schedule that is forever changing. Despite those small flaws, Layla answers all of my questions and is accommodating. The tiny con is that most of their appointments occur during the typical office hours so I have to use my lunch hour (first world problems, I know). Anyhoo, I scheduled a facial and waxing appointment with Layla--will update if services are anything but spectacular. I'm fairly certain, however, that won't be the case. Really disappointed. Had my lashes done with Mynx multiple times in the past with great results by different artists . This time I got a new artist (though this was not made clear on their booking site). Her lack of experience led to an uncomfortable application, damage to my eye, and end results that weren't what I booked and paid for (I paid for a natural looking signature set and received a harsh and dramatic looking volume set). I understand mistakes happen, and simply wanted the problem corrected. The only offer was to have the same person who messed them up do them over (I'm not allowing someone who hurt my eye near my eyes again) or pay to have them corrected. Paying twice (and spending another 2-3 hours of my time) to get it done right once seems like poor customer service to me. The owner's response was argumentative and the equivalent of "tough luck" despite admitting her employee's mistakes in applying my lashes. I am so SO obsessed with my lashes from MYNX! I love the work that both Michelle and Tammy have done on me. Tammy is kind and checks on me throughout to make sure I am ok during a longer appointment. The reason I deducted one star is due to how some of the artists conduct themselves while clients are around. I have found that several times I have been in, that other artists speak poorly about clients not there, almost making fun of them. I am able to ignore it a zone out pretty well, but I can imagine it to be extremely off putting to other clients. Got my first set of eyelash extensions here when they were originally in Rockville with Viktoriia. Started off with classic and have worked my way up to hybrid lashes. I absolutely LOVE my lashes. Viktoriia is so knowledgeable and my lashes last forever. I usually get the 3-4 week touch-up. I think my lashes look better then all of my other friends who go to other places, and a lot of my other friends who are interested in getting lash extensions agree. I did quite a bit of research before getting them done but I wish they had a care sheet so I knew how to take care of them initially. Viktoriia always answered my questions but it's hard to know what questions to ask since you don't know what you don't know. Don't think I can ever stop or go to anyone else but Viktoriia! read more
