This is a golf only review based on one playing in Summer of 2021 for a charity scramble. I have no…read moreopinion of membership, club or anything else except what I actually mention. The facts: Course is hilly. Fairways narrow. Rough is easy. Sand is consistent and nice. Trees are plentiful and well maintained, offering some shade and bordering fairways. Greens ran about 10 and were in very nice condition, as was the whole course. This is not a walkable course. Plays 5835 from Whites, 6278 from Blues and 6748 from Blacks. Par is 71. Rating: 72.4-68, Slope 135-123. Practice facilities: Range is wonky. It's very narrow (not the range itself, the area between the cart path and the hill's edge), only about 15 bays and is so downhill that it's really difficult to adjudge distance. The balls are standard range balls (not restricted) and fairly new. The putting green was well maintained, the size of a very long green, 80' X 35'? (est). The putting green was quite sloped, but was very consistent with stimp on greens. I saw no chipping/pitching or bunker practice area, but I could have missed it. Clubhouse: Super standard new private club architecture. Nice but nothing special. Lockers and bathrooms and facilities very clean and a bit generic. Staff: I had just a couple interactions with SH staff as it was a charity tourney run by volunteers but the ones I did talk to were particularly nice, in a genuine way. GOLF COURSE. Let me just get this out of the way. I have no idea why anyone would be a member of a course that is unwalkable, but hey, differences in tastes is what makes things interesting. So, I played in a scramble tourney from the whites and I'm a 5 handicap so I shouldn't be playing from the whites, but you know, whatever. This course at 6748 would be quite different than from 5835. And when you are playing a scramble the tactics are SO different than if you are playing for score and playing the course for the first time. Once one of my team members was in the fairway at 200-250, I'd just bomb it, trying to drive the green or close. Half the par 4's are drivable or close. If I played this course from gross score, I'd pretty much never hit driver from the whites probably not even from the tips. I'd be hitting a 4 iron. There are SO many blind tee shots. I'm not a fan. I do not like courses built into the sides of hills. You don't know what the tee shots are going to do. So many times I hit shots to the left side of the fairway and they ended up on the right or visa versa. If you are playing this course for the first time and aren't going to be playing it a lot, and not in a scramble, play ultra conservatively. I lost a couple drives that I hit exactly where I wanted to hit them but then I realized my target was off. The one thing that helps is the touch-screen GPS on the carts. Use it! I should have done a better job with that. It can really help you pick your spots. Speaking of carts. Enter through the fairways through the yellow stakes as indicated or the cart will seize up on you sometimes. And the cart seats are really comfy, too. So, yeah. This course is like so many courses in OC and Ventura counties that are built into the side of hills. I've played and reviewed quite a few of them. Not a fan. I only play when it's about hanging out with friends or free golf (as opposed to just pure golf scoring), but if you like these type of courses, this is a pretty good one. Well maintained. Great greens (on par with LACC, Annandale, Rustic Canyon, Hacienda, Oakmont). Have Fun. FORE!

I've been working with Coach James Jordan -- JJ -- for about six months now. My main reason for…read morereaching out was pretty simple: I wanted to enjoy golf again. My swing had gotten flat and inconsistent, and as I've gotten older, it was becoming less sustainable and was even starting to cause some pain. JJ and I started with a half-day workshop focused on the fundamentals. Instead of trying to force me into a generic swing, he helped me understand how my swing should work for my body and built a baseline from there. I won't lie -- it's been a process. Some of the changes were dramatically different from what I had done for years, and I didn't grasp everything immediately. But I stuck with it, continued working with JJ through online lessons, and put in the practice on my own. Now I'm starting to see the payoff. My swing is becoming much more consistent, my body feels better, my scores are starting to come back down, and most importantly, I'm enjoying the game again. If you want a coach who is real with you and will tell you exactly what you need to work on to improve, JJ is your guy. His approach is biomechanically sound and tailored to the swing you have today -- not some one-size-fits-all model. Trust the process, put in the work, and you'll see results. I can also make this a little more casual and punchy for a Google review if that's where you plan to post it.

GOLF ONLY I've golfed here a few times as a guest…read more Staff was nice. It's a very casual and quite place. Not stuffy, at all. it's such a unique course. 18 holes of par 3s with the longest approx 160 and shortest around 60, depending on tees. The USGA just changed the rules but as of late 2023 this course has no rating or slope because it's too short and thus no inputting into handicap. Par, of course, is 54. No range, but they do have a little putting green and a few GC Quad bays. It is walkable, but the front 9 is quite hilly. If you ever played any of the Temecula courses, like Temecula Creek Inn or Red Hawk, it's quite similar. Big undulating greens, similar grasses, lots of beautiful scrub oaks. It's easy/hard. If you strike your irons well, it will be easy to par this course, but you can easily loose a bunch of balls without too terrible of shots. Leave your ProV's at home unless you are low single. I'm a 5 and have a solid short game and still lost 3 balls the first time I played. Hole 10 is typical. It's around 70 yards with a green front to back about 10 yards, and if you miss long or shorter, your done. If you don't, birdie putt. The back 9 is much shorter, mostly pitches, a lot of water trouble, and flatter. The whole course is tucked away and has that feel that you are away from it all, think Rustic Canyon (or Sherwood, down the road). In a cart, you could play this course in 90 minutes, no problem. This would be a great course for kids and for non-serious golfers or golfers who play other courses to get the full course game going.
