I've worked with a number of club fitters and builders over the years, and finding Jay completely changed my perspective on what a fitting should be. What sets Jay apart isn't just his knowledge of golf equipment--although he can talk clubs, shafts, and ball flight for hours. It's his integrity. At no point did I ever feel like I was being pushed into a certain club because of a commission, manufacturer relationship, or sales incentive. His only goal is to find what actually works best for your swing. I've paid significantly more for fittings elsewhere, and I've had clubs built for more than double what Jay charges. Despite that, none of those experiences came close to the value, attention to detail, and results I've received working with him. Once I found Jay, it felt like unlocking a toolbox I never knew I had. The equipment finally matched what I was trying to do, and the confidence that came with that carried over to every part of my game. In the span of a single year, I went from a 15 handicap to a 4 handicap and am now working toward scratch golf. If you're looking for someone who is honest, knowledgeable, passionate about the game, and genuinely invested in helping golfers improve, I can't recommend Jay highly enough. Jay has built every single club in my bag and found mistakes other Club Petters said were built "" to spec this is a hidden gem and I wish more people know about him. read more

J's Club Shack - All custom made irons made by Jay. - Golf Near Me - Simi Valley, California

I had J and his team work on my clubs for a regrip + a new shaft install. They were insanely fast and had my clubs ready within 2 hours and at an extremely reasonable price. Would highly recommend going to J and having all your work done at his spot within the Simi Hills course and he'll get you taken care of! I'll be a regular customer getting work done when I need it. read more

Best prices and turn around time. Friendly staff and jay is the best!! Hes open to convo and suggestions. Roger Dunn takes forever to regrip and he's a bit cheaper. Anyone close enough or remotely close enough come down. read more

The best! Not only is Jay SO nice but he truly knows what he is doing and he's efficient and reasonably priced. 10/10 recommend. We are so lucky to have him in the area and he's super conveniently located at the Simi Hills golf course range. read more

10 stars if I could. He came through when a major manufacturer messed up a custom club order. He got the clubs dialed in the way they should have been from the factory. Amazing job highly recommended. read more

"J" does it again!!! - Bettinardi I've been looking for the putter with the right "feel" for a long time. I liked the the odyssey for how soft it felt off the face but I didn't like the look. I got a Scotty and it wasn't the same - firmer face and the ball flew off the face. Jason told me about Bettinardi but everything I saw on YouTube... said it was firmer .. Scotty part 2. Jason fitted my Queen Bee 15 and the feel was better than an Odyssey and more smoother swing than my Scotty.. he is a miracle worker! Being fitted is definitely the way to go! read more

100% recommend this place for any and all your club modification needs. They do offer other services, such as club fitting etc. J has experience and knowledge to handle any club repair or modification you need, but more importantly, he actually cares. Which isn't always the case at some other big name club shops. I'm always satisfied with the work done and the speedy turnaround. Drop your stuff off and hit a bucket at the range. Best club repair around. read more

Curtis fitted me for a driver. Very quickly he found the correct shaft and clubhead combination. When compared to the driver that I had been using the ball went further, straighter, with less spin. Did it instantly improve my playing and lower my score to scratch? Well, we still have a bit of user error but I don't regret the fitting or the price of the new driver. There is a huge improvement in that part of my game due to improved driving. Thanks Jason and Curtis. read more

I went to J to get a fitting for Driver shaft and advice on my iron shafts. It was a great session that put me on the right shaft but more importantly, he identified the issue with my driver swing. J confirmed that my iron shafts fit me. My advice for my fellow golfers: Skip the next couple of range sessions of pounding balls without objective feedback. Instead, invest in a fitting session with J. Too many golfers are throwing money to the wind without getting an objective eye: J's and the launch monitor. read more

Jay is the man! Period. I have been playing competitively for over 50 years and as I needed new shafts for my irons he watched me hit balls for about 5 minutes and reshafted all my irons on the spot. The quality of my play improved immediately and I was already a single digit handicapper. read more

Fast and awesome work. Reasonably priced. Located right by the range. Super friendly too and answered all questions I had.

had a driver shaft cut and tipped to fit a mini driver and the work was done quickly but thoroughly. didn't have the grip I wanted but showed me some other options that I was able to choose from and was pleasantly surprised. would definitely come back for more work to be done! read more

As someone who used to frequent Roger Dunn, golf, Galaxy, and those types of big box retailers a lot of the time you feel like you're being sold a club that they're getting a kick back on or whatever the case may be, but that's not the case with Jay. I first came to him to have my loft and lies, checked on my irons and not knowing enough about the process. Jay took me out on the range and asked me to hit a couple balls and instantly was able to adjust my irons and give me some of the best Flights and the most confidence I've had in my arms in a long time. Several months later, I developed an issue in my elbow that required me to switch to graphite and Jay was able to take 130 g extra stiff flex steel out of my iron head and create a graphite combination that would work for me at the same exact swing weight, same exact feeling all while minimizing The wear and tear on my joints and in my elbow. All the prices are extremely reasonable. You never feel like you're being taken advantage of and he stands behind all his work and everything that he does if you want to be confident in what you're getting is right for you it's built correctly to the highest quality of standards Jay is definitely your man. The only thing I wish is that I found Jay sooner because I feel like I could've saved myself a lot of time and money, listening and going to him, but he will be the only person I trust to build any clubs for me. read more

Sadly only 5 stars or I'd provide 6. Thanks for all you do with fixing these players up Jason!!!!! Value yes. Timing yes. He's getting busier the more we coaches get so make an appointment! The man! read more

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, Jason is the guy you want to turn to for your golfing needs. Jason has been doing the best golf repair and re-griping in Ventura county for years. His family used to own the local Pro Golf Discount shop in Simi so he has a great reputation for doing excellent work. He completes his work fast, affordable, and with a smile. Jason takes great pride in his work which is reflected in the quality of the products he produces. His re-gripping is precise and never has tape, glue dripping off the club, or torch marks on the shaft. I've had a few sets of clubs re-shafted as well and I couldn't have been happier with the finished products. Jason also does club fitting and can fit any golfer with the right clubs for all ages and skill levels. I'm not sure if he still teaches but if you need some swing tips I'm sure he'd be more than happy to offer some words of wisdom. J's Club Shack is located next to the Simi Hills Golf Course driving range and is open 7 days a week. The location is ideal because now you can get your all your golf needs fulfilled while at the course. Now you have no reason to ever go home! Trust me, if you have any work that needs to be done on your clubs Jason will not disappoint. read more

Friendly, great service, fair prices. Good selection of products or can get them In a reasonable time frame. Would recommend J's club shack

So today I did a thing. Got fitted for a putter at J's Club Shack in Simi Valley. Jason did his magic had me putting like I was possessed. My weapon of choice is an Odyssey Eleven tour lined double bend and a SuperStroke pistol 2.0. If you need a fitting go see Jason. He tells it like it is, no smoke and mirrors, just knowledge, experience and great customer service. Check out his page on Facebook. -- with J's Club Shack. read more

I have been a customer/client of J's for many, many years. I began visiting Jason for my club repairing needs approximately 12 or 13 years ago when plied his trade at the former Pro Golf Discount store in Simi Valley. Simply put, Jason is worth the drive from ANYWHERE in Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley. Knowledgeable, experienced, personable and dedicated to customer service. What more could a customer ask for? Jay used Doppler radar in his fittings - the information garnered for this session is definitely worth the reasonable cost for the time spent. Jay can get you just about any club, shaft, grip that you might wish. And he has no issue with you bringing him the components for his assembly. The costs are reasonable and the "turn-around" time is very fast. I cannot recommend Jason at J's Club Shack too highly. read more

Received a recommendation to visit Jason to have my junior's clubs checked for proper fit. So often, folks either cut adult clubs or don't put too much thought into proper clubs for juniors which then translates to poor technique, etc. as a result of playing with bad clubs. The original intent was to have his putter checked. He's using a face-balanced putter, but needs a bit of toe-hang to match his stroke so Jason suggested he could do everything for us; putter, clubs -- everything. We made our appointment and met him at his shop and we went through the full bag from 60° through driver. After lie and length checked, it turns out we NOW have a properly fitted set. When originally purchased, this set was too long for him, but he has since grown into them. That was my fault for just trusting that the stated length on the clubs (54"-57") would correspond to his height. For juniors, the recommendation is to make sure they grow out of their clubs and not into their clubs. Point noted. After our bag check, we went to the putting green where Jason had the SAM machine set up for his putter check. This thing is just absolutely great. A true gem of a tool that spits out numbers that confirmed our ideas. Sure enough, his face-balanced putter was not a great match for his particular stroke. He showed us how toe-hang would help with alignment and execution and wham-o...it was great. Even more impressive than the actual fitting was Jason! What a great dude! Completely -- and I mean completely knew his stuff, hit it off immediately with my boy, didn't try to sell us anything or convince us of anything -- answered all of my questions and told us to return with his new putter to have that checked as soon as we got it. What a GREAT day out here with Jason and his people. 100% recommend. 100%!!!! Thanks so much!!! read more

I Inquired about iron shaft replacement last week and informed them that i have the shafts and grips, and jason glady accepted my request even though i didnt buy the replacement shafts from them.. jason changed the whole set in just after one day which was great. Big retail stores will make you wait a week most of the time and i kinda needed the clubs right away and jason didnt dissapoint.. at first, I was kinda unsure if the shafts will work considering that we had a miscommunication (which was entirely my fault) but it worked out well in the end since im able to hit my irons much better now.. jason even offered to alter it to my liking with no charge. I wished i knew about him a long time ago. You have a new loyal customer in me from now on. Thank you jason. I hope to come back soon to see if we can do something more with the clubs so i could play my best. Definitely recommend J's clubshack.. read more

Great guy, knows his stuff, highly recommended. Prob a good amount less than you will pay at a big box store or a golf fitting specialist. Lengthened a few of my clubs through grip extensions, couple of them are quite wobbly on the ends so I have to choke down, kind of defeating the purpose. Also put a new shaft on a broken driver and while the one I needed wasn't in stock he talked me into and I agreed to something prob too light. Did 6 clubs in 5 hours and gave an hour notice on pick up time which I appreciated. I was 10-20 minutes late, they weren't ready and I felt he rushed the last couple. I asked him if I could hit them right away or if they needed to dry for a while, he said I could hit them right away. Went to diff range 30 minutes later and a couple of the grips were dripping and slipping. I know you are not seeking my advice Jason, but if they are ready to hit, supply a small bucket or 10-12 balls and make sure customer is happy before billing and sending on way. Just my two cents, still happy with the interaction and value. read more

Jason built me a set of Titlest MB712's with KBS C-Taper shafts. How awesome is it when you go to a club maker and when you pick them up you can walk 10 feet with your new clubs and test them out on a grass driving range. Or walk over to the Starter and take your new Sticks on the course for a test drive. Well you can do that at J's. He can build them from scratch as well as all the other things you can get done. Can't do this at Golfsmith. Get you putter customized and then walk 20 feet to a putting green and try it out. Can't do that at Golfsmith. Get your clubs truly fitted to you with the computer on a grass range, How cool is that? Beats getting fitted hitting into a net off a mat. Who wants to get fitted like that? Get fitted like the Pro's do, off the grass at the Driving Range. read more

Jason did an outstanding job in custom fitting me to my irons and woods today, which were all pings. He fitted my G400 woods and S58 irons. After he encouraged and adjusted my clubs lie and length, he took me to the grass to hit my irons. I have never hit my irons so pure off of the grass! Amazing work by him and he had tremendous wisdom for adjusting clubs. He regripped my irons and shorter my clubs and adjusted the lie for an incredible price and said I want you to be a lifelong customer. I assure him here now if I'm able to have him take care of these clubs and future new irons, I will take my clubs to him! read more

Yes it's wonderfully!! Jason knows how to adjust your club to fit your swing.Brilliant

Frankly, I'm not sure why you'd go anywhere else. Jason is friendly, easy to talk to and incredibly knowledgeable about golf equipment, how clubs work, and most importantly how they work for you. I had my fitting a month ago for a driver and a set of irons. We started with driver, after some mixing and matching of heads and shafts, Jason said "moving on to irons". I said "what am I fit for"? He said my current driver. "I can't do better than what you have, let's move on". I was astonished. I mean I hit my driver well, but I was perfectly willing to put 500 down on a new one. Jason said no need, you're good with what you've got. Thats honest. So I ended up purchasing a set of irons. Since then I have played my new clubs for 7 rounds, (one a tournament) and many practice sessions. The clubs are a major upgrade from what I was using. I am very happy with them and plan on employing these clubs for years. So yeah you could go to Club Champion or Cool Clubs and spend three times the money to hit balls INSIDE INTO A NET. Or you could go see Jason and be fit outdoors in the beautiful California sunshine and get to see the actual ball flight. I know which one I would pick. read more

I've been playing golf for 35 years and I am finally starting to have some more fun. Thanks to Jason! The story starts with my putter. I had bought a very expensive putter but sadly I could never get it to work as well as it did in the store. Jason custom fit and counter balanced my putter and WOW it worked much better. So much so that I made more presure putts and the FEEL of the putter is FANTASTIC! So I asked what else can you do? He then custom fit my Clubs. WOWOWOWOW! Longer and straighter! Don't buy new clubs, for a fraction of the price have them fit for your swing, it really helps and works! Jason is a easy guy to work with and you will thank me for this advice. read more
