"J" does it again!!! - Bettinardi I've been looking for the putter with the right "feel" for a long time. I liked the the odyssey for how soft it felt off the face but I didn't like the look. I got a Scotty and it wasn't the same - firmer face and the ball flew off the face. Jason told me about Bettinardi but everything I saw on YouTube... said it was firmer .. Scotty part 2. Jason fitted my Queen Bee 15 and the feel was better than an Odyssey and more smoother swing than my Scotty.. he is a miracle worker! Being fitted is definitely the way to go!

I went to J to get a fitting for Driver shaft and advice on my iron shafts. It was a great session that put me on the right shaft but more importantly, he identified the issue with my driver swing. J confirmed that my iron shafts fit me. My advice for my fellow golfers: Skip the next couple of range sessions of pounding balls without objective feedback. Instead, invest in a fitting session with J. Too many golfers are throwing money to the wind without getting an objective eye: J's and the launch monitor.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, Jason is the guy you want to turn to for your golfing needs. Jason has been doing the best golf repair and re-griping in Ventura county for years. His family used to own the local Pro Golf Discount shop in Simi so he has a great reputation for doing excellent work. He completes his work fast, affordable, and with a smile. Jason takes great pride in his work which is reflected in the quality of the products he produces. His re-gripping is precise and never has tape, glue dripping off the club, or torch marks on the shaft. I've had a few sets of clubs re-shafted as well and I couldn't have been happier with the finished products. Jason also does club fitting and can fit any golfer with the right clubs for all ages and skill levels. I'm not sure if he still teaches but if you need some swing tips I'm sure he'd be more than happy to offer some words of wisdom. J's Club Shack is located next to the Simi Hills Golf Course driving range and is open 7 days a week. The location is ideal because now you can get your all your golf needs fulfilled while at the course. Now you have no reason to ever go home! Trust me, if you have any work that needs to be done on your clubs Jason will not disappoint.

Received a recommendation to visit Jason to have my junior's clubs checked for proper fit. So often, folks either cut adult clubs or don't put too much thought into proper clubs for juniors which then translates to poor technique, etc. as a result of playing with bad clubs. The original intent was to have his putter checked. He's using a face-balanced putter, but needs a bit of toe-hang to match his stroke so Jason suggested he could do everything for us; putter, clubs -- everything. We made our appointment and met him at his shop and we went through the full bag from 60° through driver. After lie and length checked, it turns out we NOW have a properly fitted set. When originally purchased, this set was too long for him, but he has since grown into them. That was my fault for just trusting that the stated length on the clubs (54"-57") would correspond to his height. For juniors, the recommendation is to make sure they grow out of their clubs and not into their clubs. Point noted. After our bag check, we went to the putting green where Jason had the SAM machine set up for his putter check. This thing is just absolutely great. A true gem of a tool that spits out numbers that confirmed our ideas. Sure enough, his face-balanced putter was not a great match for his particular stroke. He showed us how toe-hang would help with alignment and execution and wham-o...it was great. Even more impressive than the actual fitting was Jason! What a great dude! Completely -- and I mean completely knew his stuff, hit it off immediately with my boy, didn't try to sell us anything or convince us of anything -- answered all of my questions and told us to return with his new putter to have that checked as soon as we got it. What a GREAT day out here with Jason and his people. 100% recommend. 100%!!!! Thanks so much!!!

Reading the reviews with time and waiting we didn't have to deal wait that as the first group out…read more For the money you kinda expect a better experience and a bit of a nicer pro shop, food, etc. No direction was given it was check in and see you later. The course is very challenging, narrow, long, and unforgiving out of bounds. The greens were in good shape and very fast. To be honest with a decent amount of good rain you would think the course would be dialed, but to be honest it was kind of rough. Tons on divot marks that never grew back, patchy approach areas, and just ok tee boxes. As with many other posters for the same price go to Moorpark or Rustic.

I played here yesterday, and I just had to come back here to Yelp to set the record straight,…read morebecause the current 2.5 star rating just doesn't feel like a fair representation of what this course truly has to offer. I've never played here before, but GolfNow was offering a nice discount, so I decided to take a chance on it despite the poor reviews and low star rating, and I was pleasantly surprised by how far it exceeded my very low expectations. Here's what you can expect if you decide to play here: Pre-Round: - Quality warm-up/practice areas. At the range you're hitting decent quality balls, off real grass (not mats) out into a lush grassy range with nicely visible yardage targets. - Putting practice is on a tight, fast green that's well maintained. Only critique here was there weren't many holes to aim to... I counted maybe 4-5 total, which is not much. - Clubhouse was a lovely Spanish style building, with clean bathrooms, nice pro shop with friendly staff, and a cafe/food window set next to a nice outdoor patio eating area. The Golf: - Walking is not permitted (for pacing reasons, I assume) but the electric golf carts are HIGH-QUALITY, not beat up, cheap public course shame trains. They each have full color screens with GPS enabled course maps, providing you with hole layouts and yardages. They are stocked with complimentary bottled water, towels, and tees. Before you even swing a club, this feels like a premium experience. - The course conditions were beautiful. They're not perfect... you're not playing Augusta National here, but it was well above average for a public course. Tee boxes were level, green, weed free and well maintained. If you're used to playing public courses where you have to dance a two-step around the tee box for 2 minutes trying to find a level spot to hit from, you'll feel spoiled by the beautiful tee boxes. -Fairways are tight, a bit hard (you're in desert terrain) and very green. Didn't see a lot of dead grass out there, but then again it did rain recently. -The first cut rough is pretty well maintained, with some weeds around the edges, but for the most part very playable. -Bunkers has a few large rocks in them here and there, but were pretty fluffy and soft for the most part. One bunker I landed in was so soft, my ball plugged into the sand a good inch or two. -The course design is really interesting and unique, and WILL BE A CHALLENGE for most weekend golfers. You need to be accurate off the tees and have a decent approach game. If not, bring a lot of balls because the desert OB areas are cruel and will mercilessly collect your entire last order of golf balls off Amazon. - The pace of play was actually great. We never felt rushed and never felt like we waited more than a few minutes for the group ahead to finish. We played on Sunday, teeing off just before noon, so you'd expect it to be busy, but it was pleasantly un-crowded. -I appreciated the little details that this course has paid attention to, like areas around the tee boxes and beside cart paths that often have beautiful hard-scape features, like rocks or pavers, which is a classy touch. Other on-course amenities: - Ball washers were regularly placed throughout the course - At least one set of bathrooms was out on the course (thank you very much). - Beverage carts came around at least twice to check on us and offer us food during the round... another premium that you don't get on cheap public courses. One STRANGE experience: We finished our round around 4:30PM and when we rolled in toward the clubhouse, the place was an absolute ghost town. Not a soul was in sight. Pro shops was dark, locked up and closed. Food service window was closed, security cage pulled over the window. There were no human beings anywhere when I pulled my cart up to the cart return--- just felt odd that nobody was around. Other than that, Angeles National served up a great day of quality golf with premium amenities. It's not cheap, but it's also not as expensive as you might expect for a high quality course. With our GolfNow "HotDeal" it was around $120 and I consider it a steal at that price. If that price tag is a stretch, then reward yourself with a round here once in a while and enjoy the incredible mountain views, picturesque desert, and course conditions that far exceed expectations of a public course.
