Such a great store to get sports gears. I got my bicycle and basket from here and I love the people here. The staff worked with us to order a bicycle with the exact specifications we were looking for. They ordered a Beaumont Cruiser and it was perfect! One interesting thing about the Beaumont is that it comes with a warranty but only if it's assembled by a certified bike shop. Luckily, Second Wind is certified and they assembled the bike for us. By the way, my bike is brand new. So this store not only sells used items but new ones too. And they can order items too. I'm looking forward to getting more sports items from here because it's such a nice business. read more

The prices for used stuff is almost and sometimes the same as used stuff. The place is messy and its hard to find anything. When I hear the buzzy phrase "support local," Second Wind Sports is what immediately comes to mind! My son has been playing Little League baseball for a little more than a year now and 95% of his equipment has come from this shop. Could I go to Big 5 or Dick's? Sure. Is buying on Amazon mind-numbingly easy? Of course. But this place has great finds and deals, and, importantly, *heart.* They have lots more than just baseball stuff, too. Everything from surfing, skiing, soccer, camping, bikes, and skates - it's all here. While the prices aren't as cheap as, say, the semi-annual LA Kids' Consjgnment sale, they are MORE than reasonable, and everything is in good condition! I have honestly found myself wandering into the store on occasion - without my son! - just to see if they have anything new in stock that I can take off their hands. The only suggestion I might make to the owners is that they consider carrying gently used dance gear! It is a sport, after all, and kids grow out of dance shoes and other equipment just as quickly as they grow out of cleats. This guy is a joke. I went in today looking for a used driver which I found for $80. I walked to the front and asked if he would be willing to do a trade and I pay the difference. I explained to him in detail exactly what club it was and he told me he would give me $40 for it which I agreed to. Keep in mind I had to drive all the way back to Tarzana to grab my club to trade, which I did. Upon returning this weird guy tries to offer me $25 for the driver and says "you want it or not?" Owners a racist. This place deserves 0 stars. My girlfriend and I are both white, and he had had no problem giving us each a free wakeboard when we walked in together. He didn't say one per group, he said one per customer, just like the add on Facebook said. Yet when I send my sister and her boyfriend(who is middle eastern) to go get a wakeboard, they tell them only one per group. The audacity after we literally just walked out with a wakeboard each less than an hour before that. I was gonna leave a five star but that was before they screwed my friend over for having darker skin. I will never return to this place, and I will be telling others not to do so. After reading the yelp reviews on this place, it turns out I'm not the only one who's had racist experiences with the owner, it's actually somewhat of a reoccurring theme. i went in with my boyfriend because we saw an ad on facebook marketplace for free wakeboards. we went into the store and we picked out a wakeboard, each of our own, that we liked. we walked out with 2 free wakeboards and had such a great experience. they even said to leave them a yelp review. this review was going to be 5 stars. flash foward maybe an hour goes by and our 2 other friends walk into the store because we told them about the free wakeboards ad. they were guided to the back and were both picking out a wakeboard they each liked. they bring them up to the front only for them to have to put one back. they said it was "one per couple" but they advertised is "one per customer." my friends tried to argue that my boyfriend and i were just in there and walked out with 2 and they said they chanhed the rules. i was very disappointed and thrown off by this whole thing so this is a 1 star review. not sure if it was a race thing or what, but either way, dont advertise something and then tell somebody else a different thing. the facebook ad was not even changed after that, it still said "one per customer." why would they not add "one per couple"? these guys were nice to me and my boyfriend but that does not excuse the fact that they were very different to our 2 friends. im pretty sure this was a race thing hence why im pretty infuriated. such a bummer! i was going to write you 5 stars! I called hoping to come in and find a set of skis right before closing. I called once, asking what time they close. I live right up the street so I figured I may be able to make it down there in time. As I'm in my car I realize I'm literally going to get there at 6:02, so I call again and ask the man (who I presume to be Mike the owner from what I've gathered) if he would be willing to stay just an extra two minutes as odds are I will very very likely be buying a set of skis, to which he responds "I close at 6 if you're not here I'm out of here" to which I say "okay, is there really no way you could possibly stay just an extra few minutes, I'm nearly certain I'll be buying skis" to which he responds in a very rude word salad akin to "I've told you 100 times man" and "I don't care I'm not gonna stay open" and continues going on. So I ask him, "why are you being so rude? It was a very simple question." Which clearly upset him. He went off on a tangent insulting me, being very rude and maintaining a terrible tone. Then I simply ask him again, "why are you being so rude it was just a simple question and I was hoping that you could find the kindness in your heart to stay-" click. He hangs up in my face. I couldn't imagine how it would have been if I did make it in time and hold up this man's precious time, time which he would have spent making a sale. Just my experience with the only interaction I will ever have with this business, I don't think I've ever been treated the way I just was over the phone. I went there in hopes to get all the gear for my son to start his baseball journey. Worst mistake ever. We have 0 clue on anything baseball so I expected to go there and get pointers. When we asked the man on the register we expected him to come up to us and show us how to choose a glove. He finally came up when we looked completely lost but after a good 5minutes of us walking back and forth looking for info online. My son went to the front to look for a dodger hat he really liked. We normally get his hats at the mall so we saw they were cheap even though they don't look authentic we wanted to get it. He gave me the hat and I headed to the front to pay since we didn't get help with any of the gear we originally went for. There were two customers ahead of me so I waited, I saw the other hats and walked over to see what other ones they had the moment i walked to the other side the woman that works there went up to my son and asked him for the hat. My son was confused and another mom that was with me asked her what was the problem then the woman repeated to ask my son did you put the hat back after you had it. Insinuating that my son was stealing it. When the other mom told her I had it she just turned around and laughed like she didn't just look at my 10 year old son like a thief. My biggest mistake is still buying this hat from this store when they don't appreciate their customers. I immediately messaged all the parents I had just told about this store so they don't go there again. Another friend gave me a name to another store I would rather go spend my money there. This store has it all. Since it's ski season, everything was front and center. They had an amazing selection of everything sports related. The sales lady was really helpful when I asked about the boots. I actually had a choice of styles in my size. Plenty of street parking out front and helpful staff. Mike the store owner is SO nice and helpful! I called in to get some bindings out on my new snowboard, I couldn't trust myself and wanted help and Mike agreed to try to help though he doesn't offer these services. The store is located on the corner of the busy Topanga and Devonshire, street parking is available also. Mike helped me put the bindings on and ensured I was satisfied before leaving, I even bough myself a mini trampoline!! I love supporting this local bike shop! I called the other day to see if they had the bike I wanted in stock, and the owner (I presume?) was super helpful over the phone. Anyhow, I went into the store today to get a retrospec bike in the olive color and I was pleasantly surprised! They had everything you could possibly need, and then some. They even had the retrospec basket for my bike. The owners were so helpful and made sure that my boyfriend and I both bought bikes that could fit well on the bike rack that we bought from there as well. Great store. Love coming here for good bargains as my kids try out sports plus they outgrow shoes etc fast. I came in to sell my sons soccer shoes back to them and buy some slightly bigger. I found a pair the size i wanted. When i went to check out, they told me that the condition of the shoe i was turning in was not acceptable and they did not want them. I felt a little disappointed and wondered how we messed up the shoe in a short amount of time. To my surprise, they gave me a discount on the new pair, equal to what we agreed they would buy the old shoes back originally. I was stunned; they were giving me credit for the shoes and they wanted me to take both pairs home. Thats not only integrity, that's generosity. This store is a gem in the neighborhood and we need to make sure it stays open. read more

I was in the market for inline hockey skates, and found these guys on FB Marketplace. I asked if they had my size and unfortunately at the time didn't have a pair that I was looking for (understandable). I couldn't wait too long so I caved and bought some really expensive new ones online from a major retailer. It was bittersweet for me, I was excited I had bought new skates but kinda regretting that I had to spend so much on them when I really would like to have just gotten some used ones. Jean from Second Wind Sports FB messaged me just a few days later letting me know they had just gotten in a pair I might be interested in. Even though I had already bought the new ones, the price difference between new and used was to great to ignore the offer. So I went to Chatsworth and when I walked in and told the two people what I was looking for, they knew who I was, and had the nearly-new Nike hockey rollerblades ready for me to try on. They even opened up a seat for me to sit in while I tried them on. They were a perfect fit and I happily bought them. The fact that they kept their eyes open for a pair in my size and kept me in mind is a testament to the level of customer service you get from a mom-and-pop store vs talking to a chatbot on a big website. I'm beyond grateful for the courtesy these nice folks show and I will be going back for any other equipment I need in the future. I recommend this store 100%. read more

This is a great place to buy used sporting goods. I needed a Louisville Slugger Omaha bat; they had it and sold it to me at a fair price. I also had a fairly new bat that was too small for my son. They bought it from me at a fair price. This store is a great resource for parents with kids in sports, especially if your kid grows out of things really quickly and you don't want to spend a lot of money buying brand new all the time. read more

I have been meaning to stop by this place since it opened about a week ago. The bikes, surf boards, wetsuits and jogging strollers on the sidewalk invite you to stop and browse. The owner, Chad, has a great little shop for all the sporting goods you need without the high prices of a box store. He grew up in the area and knows the surf breaks, sports scene and hidden gems for getting outdoors, and his service and attention are second to none. I was also impressed by the number and variety of items for kids -- good size options for wetsuits, soccer cleats, and other stuff. If you are looking to try a sport but don't want to fully invest in a kit for something like hockey or not sure you or your kid will like the sport you've chosen to try, this is a great choice for gear. Already have too much stuff? Chad will also buy your used gear or sell on consignment, so inventory is constantly changing. Clean out the garage and bring your sports stuff to him, he'll help you unload it and put cash in your pocket. read more

These people were incredibly helpful and they have a great selection. I was looking for snowboard bindings and boots. They made the experience quite good. The bindings were reasonably priced and in great condition. $30-$50 used bindings. The boots varied from $30-$100. And they had a lot of great snowboards with bindings already on them. Burton, K2, Ride, Rossignol, Etc. Most of the board and binding combos were $150-$200. Which really isn't bad. They had gloves, googles, pants, jackets, helmets, bags, tools, just about everything you'd need. Everything was low priced and only gently used. The woman helping me was very knowledgeable and didn't give me any pressure to buy. I would definitely recommend this place. read more
