George was genuinely so helpful and kind. I usually get coupons in my email for Big 5 but for some reason I couldn't find the one that I wanted to use. George was able to look up my email and verify that I had an account and kindly gave me a 10% discount even though I couldn't pull up the email with the 10% code. It's customer service like this that makes me want to shop at this location again. read more

The only store that carries my favorite canvas sneakers. I was told it's a summer item and I was terribly upset. But a salesman named Tom offered to check the summer storage in the back, having to climb over boxes and forage a bit. He actually came out with the exact shoe in my size!! Now that's customer service! read more

The employees never fail to greet me upon arrival. They consistently make sure I can find what I am looking for. Sometimes I worry that they will sell-out on an item, so I call the store, and they hold the item for me at the front, for same-day purchase. They honor refunds and exchanges with receipt. Plus, they always have a sale going on! What more can I ask for? read more

When I'm looking for something quick and specific for my outdoor adventures, I come here to Big 5. One thing I really love about this location is customer service as people here are friendly and helpful. Watch their advertising for excellent deals, although they normally have comparable prices on various items here too. I've come here to buy an Adventure Parking Pass (YES! They sell them here!), workout gloves, pepper spray (for when I go jogging) and have purchased hand/feet warmers for hiking/camping here too. Only once, they didn't have what I was looking for -a hand-held water bottle with a pouch, used for jogging/running. Free small parking lot in back of the store. Staff wears COVID prevention masks and hand sanitizers available for use. read more

This store is small but they have a ton of stuff in there. We were looking for a snow sled and they had a few different options. There is plenty of parking on the back as well as street parking. The cashier was nice too. It didn't seem like a lot of people were working in the store when we went on a Thursday evening. But fortunately I didn't need much help anyway. So that was fine. The area is a little meh. It's right next to Canoga High school and across from Arby's. read more

Amazing service! Rigo helped me out very well. Very professional and very personable.

Only after being at B5 I learned I much other stores over charge us! Yes, over charging us. How come a fishing road that being sold here for $20 is being sold at other stores for double? And I am not talking about just a single store. Many stores charging extra. And this is not one item, or something on special. Everything in the fishing section is cheaper by 20-50 percent when compared to other stores. I can't rate them 5 stats since there was. Nobody here to answer professional questions regarding fishing equipment. But even with no one to answer, this store is cheaper than mo read more

I just returned from Big 5 in Canoga Park, and I have to say that the customer service here is superb. The two managers, Mateo, and Ted have gone out of their way to take care of me. In these times, customer service is lacking, however, this store has the greatest employees. I just wanted to give a shout out, because most people complain, and I wanted to take the time to give a wonderful review five stars. Thank you to all that work at this location. You are my sporting good store. Thank you read more

Got exactly what I needed! Christian helped me and knew his stock so well. I was looking for neon or bright colored sweatbands and he pointed me in the right direction. We will definitely be back! read more

Call the manager has been a great help. He help you put together my scooter. This place is a great location five stars.

If Big 5 had bigger stores, I would give them 5 stars! They are great at what they do, they cram a lot of inventory into a very small footprint, the staff is helpful and the prices are great. More importantly, Big 5 is B.I.G. on sales.... keep your eye on their website and you will be surprised how much you can save... I just save a bundle on a rolling ice chest... It was 40% off! read more

Big 5 Sporting Goods exceeded my expectations, their quality of materials are superb.

Maybe it's because I know what I'm getting into when I walk into a Big 5, but these guys have never disappointed. This place isn't REI and it doesn't try to be. You won't find the latest brands or the best stuff, but you will find, good, functional gear that works. I've found a few gems in this place, especially for camping. I also picked up a pellet gun for some pseudo protection, but that's another story read more

Something about this store really threw me off. I was expecting something more the size of the Sports Chalet at Fallbrook, but the interior of this Big 5 can barely fit its merchandise, let alone any customers. Good luck squeezing through the tiny aisles and browsing the somewhat selective inventory. I will, however, say that the customer service was tops. Everyone there was polite and friendly (which is a feat when you're wearing long sleeves in 90+ degree weather, even with the AC on.) John in particular handled the return of our broken tent and took on personal responsibility for making sure we would get our new one in a few days, going so far as to take down our number so he could give us a call when it was ready to pick up. I really appreciate when people go out of their way to give customers the time of day. If not for the ambiance, sports enthusiasts and others should check out this location, as there is some rather specific stuff you could pick up if you know what you're looking for. The friendly, knowledgeable employees make shopping there much more enjoyable. read more

I had been searching for adult women roller blades and I finally found some here . Plus I found knee pads and and shin guards too. Yay thank you for being a one stop shop. read more

Horrible customer service and rude people are behind the counter not responding to your questions.

Great selection, great deals, and a kind staff. We stopped off here to pick up hiking shoes for a hike later that day, and found a couple perfect pairs for an awesome sale price. One employee was nice enough to wait on us and check the back for any inventory to suit our needs. Some sections of the store were a bit disheveled and messy, and the sale section would be nearly impossible to sift through, but other than that we had a great experience here. We were able to pick up everything we needed, and more, in one quick trip. read more

This place never disappoints and all the workers are happy to help. I've never had a bad experience here.

This old location is nestled in the heart of Canoga Park. It's a small store but it's jam packed with lots of sporting goods. Need a quick gift, sometimes I'll run in and find some cool stuff. The store is neat and most of the employees seem friendly. Lots of free parking in back and on the side street is a big plus. Not a lot of these type of sporting goods stores around the valley anymore, so I'm glad this one is still here. Give Big 5 a look... read more

By box store standards this is a small store, but it's stocked with an enormous amount of inventory. In fact there's parts of the store where you have to walk sideways to get between the racks. I do almost all my clothes shopping in here, all of my shoe shopping, and of course I pick up the occasional piece of sporting equipment too. There's always parking out back, and the neighborhood is fine. read more

Old and beat up location. I do enjoy hangin out at big 5 , but this location is small and outdated.

Big 5 is improving. Came here on Friday afternoon and got help from a nice young lady who was really helpful. I noticed that they have range of prices and so is quality of staff. I love stores where you can choose the quality option and the less quality one. I got 2 new weights and iPhone holder for jogging. I have been planning to get it for a long time. Happy with what I got here and service at big 5 really got better. read more

Awesome store with an awesome staff. I've been going to this store for years, but in the last couple years there has been a manager, Cory, that has always been super helpful whenever I've gone in. His service is always top notch, Cory I would just like to thank you for your service. read more

I had a snow trip to prep, and being time sensitive, I rushed to Big 5. I was so pleased to pick up 5 snow boots for my whole family. Prices ranging in $22.50 - 49-99. It was such a bargain. I also grabbed a pair of gloves and a beanie. I was definitely a happy buyer but I wasn't a happy shopper. Customer service was horrible. I asked for help on the sizes and I stacked the boxes on the floor. None of those boys helped me to the front cashier. I had to schlepped all 5 boxes of shoes to the front of the stores. And they just waited for me at the cashier, smiling as I made my ways in between the racks. Not cool!! read more

The store is not that big, it should be called Small 5 Sporting Goods, but the service is great. The prices are better than Sports Authority and the manager is not a dick like at Sports Authority. He also gave us an extra 10% off for signing up, which he didn't have to do. Plus he never made us sign up! read more

This location is one of the smaller stores in the chain. The ailes seem to be too narrow and difficult to navigate. Each of the mini department areas have a slightly lower stock and selection as opposed to other Big 5 locations. Aside from that, there is a variety of items for the sports and outdoor enthusiast. They do carry items for the seasonal team sports, such as, football, baseball, soccer, hockey, basket ball and volley ball. There are also items for the individual sports enthusiasts, such as, fishing, hiking, camping, tennis, Ping Pong, skate boarding, snow boarding, roller blading, cycling and others. There are even items for the paint ball, archery and target shooting individuals. For those who don't play sports but like to watch, there are collectable items from your local NFL, NCAA, MLB, MLS and NHL teams. Don't forget to check out their footwear too. They carry most of the required footwear for the team and individual sports. This location does have good customer service. It is nice to be greeted by one or more employees as you walk in. You get the sense that they are there for you when you need their help. The parking situation presents two options. The first is to park in the street, but only during permissable times of the day. The second is to find a a spot in the parking lot located directly behind the store. This place is always good to hit on a Black Friday especially when everyone else is storming the shopping malls. read more

Nice Big 5 but its sort of the ghetto part of the valley so most of the time we are too paranoid to be there. Especially parking our cars behind the big 5. Odd design of building too with you entering through a corner. They have essentially all of the things most big 5's have. Good customer service too. read more

This review is for 10/8/2011. After a day of hiking, I needed to get some simple shoes for a golf tournament that I am going to in a couple days for my company. I don't play golf, but I wanted to get nice shoes to impress some clients. I didn't want to get golf shoes, just nice white tennis shoes and have fun at the course. Place to get cheap shoes was at Big 5 Sporting Goods in Canoga Park. My friend and I arrived at 3pm and just headed straight to the shoes. I saw a bunch that I wanted, but every time I picked up a shoes, they didn't have it or the shoe box had two left shoes. Really?! Two left shoes?! Where did the two right shoes go? I finally saw a nice pair of U.S. Polo Association Shoes for $19.99. With me being an e-member, I get to save 10% off on sale and 20% on regular items. I thought I was going to leave right away, but I wanted to check the golf items. Unfortunately, they had all these clubs, balls, and specialty items, but we did not see any tees. Really?! You have all these items, but not tees. As we were about to leave, apparently the whole the store wanted to leave as well. We waited in line for about 5-7 minutes because a kid's baseball bat wouldn't scan and a person waiting for help at the shoes wasn't being serviced. Finally, I was rung up by the girl and it was on sale for $19.99, but the original price was $49.99. I had my discount for $2 off for $17.99. My Grand Total Please (Drum Rolls).....$19.56. Big 5 is great to get cheap shoes. Usually get my boots from Big 5, but I still have a fresh pair of boots at home brand new and ready when my current boots are torn apart. Wish me luck at the golf course. I'll be hitting like a baseball player and hitting strikes at a stationary object. The Yelp Universe. Where are you traveling today? read more

Went in to purchase some hiking boots. Had to ask for help for which the sales associate was bothered to have to go look for something. Then when I wanted to ask questions and try on other shoes there was no one to help. There were many people not recieving help. So I decided to inform the cashier on my way out. To which she simply said ok. No I'm sorry let me get you some help or let me get the Manager just ok. It was obvious that she nor anyone else in the store cared. Not only did I want hiking shoes but also an army cot and a few other camping supplies. They lost out on a $100 or more purchase. I'm writing this because their employees need to be better trained in customer service especially cashier. read more

Very incompetent store! Took the test for my FSC a few months ago moved and cant find it. Called and asked were reprints available and was told yes.
