I've been coming here forever ago. Started riding hard again and had an issue I couldn't peg at home. Walked in on a Sunday of all days and they were open. Everything was laid back environment was chill and spoke to Angel. They spotted the issue immediately and set me up. Took in my bike told me next day pick up and was done just as expected. Angel is an awesome mechanic and gave me some insight for maintenance with in my next 800 hours. Didn't upsell wasn't pushy was on time couldn't ask for more. I bought a bike many years ago and one of the selling points was that I would get free tune-ups for the life of the bike. After they changed ownership I went in to get a free tune-up and they said that they do not honor that policy anymore. What? As if that was not enough to piss me off, the guy that "helped" me was as rude as possible with a huge attitude. I now go to Newbury Park Bike Shop and REI for tune-ups. read more

Right off the back, just looking at my bike, he knew what was up, and gave me a real solid answer of how long it would take to fix. Owner gave it to me straight, reasonable and fair price. He's the kind of guy who tells it like it is. There's plenty of parking on Vanowen or Platt, and there's also a small little parking lot around the corner that is shared with the garden equipment store and the cleaners. What I really like the best is that there's an open window to the service area. You can see exactly what's going on. That definitely boosted my confidence in choosing this place. Wow, you can't do better than this bike shop. When we moved to West Hills, my wife's beautiful Raleigh bike was in terrible shape after spending 10 years in the backyard of our Reseda home with little to no use. The guys at Spoke N Wheel fixed it up like new! It is just gorgeous now, and rides like a dream! After seeing the results, and wanting to have something to do with the family for exercise during COVID, we took my daughter's Phat Seawind and my Specialized Crossroads for the same treatment. I can't believe the amazing job these folks do with taking neglected bikes and making them near-new. The guys here are only interested in making your bike work, they won't up-sell you. They only charge for what's necessary. When they looked at my bike they said they couldn't tell if I'd need a "mini tune" or a full tune up. I was dead sure it'd need a full tune up, I'd been using this bike for years and then it sat for almost 5 years neglected. But it turned out they got it back in tip-top shape with only a "mini tune"! I can't recommend this shop highly enough. If you have any bike maintenance needs, this is where you should head. read more

Took my daughters bike to get tire fixed and peddles. The gentleman explained to us what we needed etc, but do to my hearing I was not able to understand. Well he knew sign and was able to sign with me. Made me feel amazing and they fixed her bike in 15 minutes while we waited. I was really impressed. I really want to give this place 5 stars, I really do. Mainly because there really are some good young men that work there. Thomas is pretty awesome. He took really good care of me and my wife when stopped by recently to shop for a bike for her. I dropped my bike off by there for a basic tune up, an the young men did a really great job. However, my wife needed a better seat for her bike so I grabbed one while I paid for my tune up. There was a gentleman there with gray hair (looked a bit older, I suppose) that told me "yes, you can return the item for a full refund just as long as you do not tear the packaging and keep your receipt." I said thanks and bought the seat. When I got home, I showed it to my wife and she took one look at it and said no, it's not big enough. So I took it right back the next day. When I arrived, my good friend Thomas was there and also the owner [queue the side eye]. I told Thomas I needed to return the seat, and he said "sorry man, we do not accept returns. I can do an exchange." I immediately asked for the guy that told me I could return it, but he wasn't there. I described him and they knew exactly whom I was referring to. Thomas told the owner what happened, and asked if he could process the return....this guy [the owner] looked up at me, looked down, and told Thomas to do the return in such a nonchalant/passive manner. Fanned his hand in the air and everything lol (like he was saying "eff it, whatever, just freaking do it). Just talking pretty shitty to his employee, and as if I was the bad guy lol. I am a Human Resource professional for over 13 years, and I know what uncomfortable environments look and sound like. Then he instructed the employee to charge me a restocking fee because that's what the financial company charges him, blah blah blah. I was boiling inside, but hey life goes on. It wasn't my fault his employee told me the wrong info, and furthermore, I paid $25 plus tax for that seat. They ended up refunding me less than what I paid for it. Can't say I'll be going back here. Owner kind of ruined it for me. But again, the young men there do good work. read more

This is so aggravating!! No costumer service and no responsibility taken. Got my old bike over and asked to know what's needed done for them to be up and running. After minimizing to the musts we decided on new tubes front breaks and a mini tune up. For $130. Got the bike back took them for a ride and all the air came out from the back tire. Brought them over hoping to get an apology and repair and now they say, Ho your tires are too old so they are ripping the tube. You need to pay $50 for new tires plus what ever labor comes with it. ‍ Their answer came rudely with no shame, regret, apology or discount. I came in originally asking for their opinion as pros and they just don't care. Really bad feeling of being screwed over. read more

What to say about the quintessential local bike shop, Spoke 'N Wheel (SnW)?... other than it's exactly what you would hope it would be. Local, honest and capable, they are there to keep you rolling along the streets of our tree lined neighborhoods with a minimum of fuss and expense. Turning the wrenches are two born "cycle-men", Jackson and Darius. Earnest and knowledgeable, they helped restore three of my badly neglected bikes at the height of the pandemic for a fraction of what I had expected it would cost. Jody, the owner, is a bit of an "acquired taste" and I could see where his gruffness might have led to a few of the lower ratings. If his style is not to your liking, deal with the staff instead and treat yourself to an otherwise outstanding service and repair facility. Notably, SnW, like everyone else, has been swamped with people looking to buy new inventory (they only sell Specialized product) and won't have any for weeks if not months... so repair will be the only reason to visit for quite some time. So, if a tune-up or fix is what your humble "metal steed" needs, look no further. read more

So disappointed in my local bike shop. Came in a couple weeks ago to have a flat innertube replaced on a new e bike -and spent $36 including the bike shops recommendation to add sealant for an additional fee. Rode the bike 5 miles came back and the next day the air was low. Same result the next day so stopped riding it. Tried coming in on a Sunday and not realizing they were closed wasting more time. Came into the shop and to my surprise rather than an apology they say they tested it and there is no leak essentially calling me an idiot. They produced a small thorn on the tire which did not puncture which makes zero sense. The response was it was just "my bad luck". I know these guys are just the employees. Waiting for Walter to come over who is supposed but he was aggressive and hostile. I understand the owners name is Jody and I will find him as well to express my dissatisfaction and disappointment. I really don't like to feel I'm being ripped off and these guys seem to specialize in it. Never coming back. Also found other yelp reviews of customers with the same experience. Stay away. 1st time client with 5 bikes in the household.. I get to the shop at 10:30am . There were one customer inside and about 5 employees worker inside. Non bother to ask '"we will be with you". Customer service is sucks at this location. . The guy who decided to help. He said, "why are you here?", I had bike next to me" really!! Funny thing while taking a picture of the store front on 6/7/2011 guess who approaches me? Gary! In a shrewd tone he asked what business I had taking pictures outside the shop. I have purchased two specialized bikes (one Mountain Bike for $800 & one Road Bike for $2,000) from this store. When you purchase a bike, they are great and do everything for you. Over time, it appears as though their service has gone downhill. On one occasion, I wanted to purchase some aero bars for my road bike. They only had some off name brand which were rather expensive but, they (JODY) also wanted to charge me a $15 service fee to install them. Of course they tell you when you purchase the bike that you can get anything you want installed for free...HA. When you purchase a bike here, they give you LIFETIME tune-ups for the bike at no charge (a tune-up consists of adjustments only). One one occasion, they broke the mount for my computer (on my road bike) and instead of telling me, they put a cable tie on it. The part only cost me $2 to replace but, they should have just owned up to breaking the mount. Overall, with all bike shops in the valley, why go to one that does not value a repeat customer. read more

They did a great job on my wife's bike... it had been sitting in the garage for 15 years collecting dust and they brought it back to life, adjusted the shifting, etc. It cost $120. I really don't have anything to compare it to so don't know if that's a good price... but they told us ahead of time so we had a choice. The only issue I have (and it's enough to keep me from going back) is that one or two of the people in there are kind of, well, dick-ish. To the point to where, when you call up or go by, I find myself hoping I get the Dr Jekyl and not the dreaded Mr. Hyde. And not complete dick-ish but like when I called, I felt like I was bothering him. And when I said, "OK, I'll bring my bike down later today", he just hung up the phone. There was no "Great! See ya in a bit!"... or even, "OK, goodbye"... or even a "Whatever"... just a click. At least one guy there (Thomas, I think?) is super friendly. Ya know if this were the only bike shop in a small town I'd be like, "Well, Joe-Bob is kind of a dick but he fixes a mean bike" and you just sort of know that's the deal. But that's not the deal... I will find a place where people are nice all of the time. To be clear... I haven't been keeping an actual record but I've been down there or called 4 times now and two of those times were with Thomas (or whoever the "nice one" is) and everything was cool and the other times, not so friendly. I think the situation is that, because of COVID, everyone on the planet is getting their bikes tuned up. I'm totally OK when you tell me "we won't get to your bike for three weeks". But if I'm not angry about it, why should you be? read more

I was extremely disheartened coming here. I spoke to Jody through email a few days before bringing my bike in and he was very nice. Very pleasant exchanges. FIVE STARS! However, upon coming to drop my bike off, I was greeted with completely arrogant and rude staff who belittled me and spoke to me like I was an inconvenience to them. WALTER was extremely rude and condescending. MINUS THREE STARS. I asked them to also look at the seat dropper post as it kept getting stuck during my rides, and he said "It's fine. I don't know what you're talking about" MINUS ONE STAR. Sir...you don't ride the bike, so don't come at me with that... I reluctantly left my bike with them and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I will be getting my bike back in two weeks. Will follow up with how my bike is serviced. UPDATE: WALTER called to let me know my bike was finished. I could immediately spot his bad attitude as soon as I answered the phone. I got my bike back and it was FANTASTIC. DARIUS brought my bike out to me and answered all my questions. He also went over everything with me. He even explained why my seat was having a hard time lowering. The service done on my bike was phenomenal. They did so much better than the Trek store which I brought my bike to before to get serviced. PLUS 5 STARS Unfortunately, WALTER's bad attitude leaves the overall rating at three stars. :( read more

With all the time at home due to the COVID-19 lockdowns I decided to get back into mountain biking. Unfortunately, apparently so did every other human being in Los Angeles! I previously purchased my son's bike from here, and we were very satisfied, so I went back for myself. The impossible happened! They told me they have no bikes. All sold out, as were other local bike stores. They also had no idea when Specialized will send more. Frankly I did not believe them so I drove to REI.... yup all sold out. Only bikes there were for repair. So I broke out my 25 year old Park Pre MTB, and but had problems with it. I brought it in, and I could see they store was packed with bikes, but they were all there for repairs and the wait time was estimated upto 3 weeks. Fortunately, the tech quickly determined it was a minor issue and fixed it while I waited. I can easily tell they were very overwhelmed and other folks were frustrated they could not buy bikes. I spoke with the owner, Jody, and he explained a bunch of stuff to me as to what is going on and appreciating my patience. He is an old school, take care of the customer as best you can type of guy. Not many of those left in LA it seems. Well I took the bike out and it worked fine, but 25 year old technology just does not work for me anymore. Now I'm waiting for a shipment to get a new bike. I only want to support my local bike shop so I'll wait. read more
