When I lived in California, I love the bike shop very friendly great customer service and they always heard my bikes around really quickly. I miss this particular bike shop the mouse I now live in Georgia and I have 16 road bikes and I'm always cycling here. It's very safe and it's incredible in the spring and fall and the summer

A rare gem of a bike shop--Atomic Cycles and Paul are the real deal…read more If you're lucky enough to stumble across Atomic Cycles in North Hollywood, you've found something special--an old-school, no-frills, soul-of-cycling kind of place. This isn't some sleek boutique with overpriced parts and cookie-cutter service. This is Paul's shop--a one-man operation, part museum, part workshop, part time machine--and entirely awesome. I recently pulled two bikes out of storage after 25+ years of collecting dust. One was a cruiser-style 21-speed, the other my old Klein Stage Comp road bike from my triathlon days. My son is just getting into cycling, so I wanted to see if they could be resurrected. Enter Paul. From the moment you walk in, you're hit with nostalgia--cluttered racks, retro parts, classic bikes stacked everywhere, and zero e-bikes (don't even mention them--Paul will make his feelings known! ). Then you meet Paul himself: a lean, strong, greying guy in his 50s with oil-stained hands, a frayed shirt, and the calm intensity of a mad scientist-mechanic who knows his craft inside and out. He's not there to upsell you or push gimmicks. Paul is a caretaker of bicycles. He brought both my bikes back to life for a price that was literally a fraction of what the big box bike shops wanted to charge. And his work? Impeccable. No BS. Just honest, high-skill labor from someone who clearly lives and loves the cycling life. If you want e-bike talk and shiny sales floors, go elsewhere. If you want someone who treats your bike like it's a piece of living history and will get it running better than ever--go see Paul. This place is more than a bike shop--it's a living piece of cycling culture. I'm grateful I found it.

So much that the hub will not rotate freely no matter how adjusted, the rear wheel spoke tension was so low that a few of the spokes rattle with no tension at all. A new wheel should not have this play and should be replaced by manufacturer, and the front wheel came with a broken spoke. The spoke hole on the hub was compromised to the point where I couldn't replace the spoke for risking the chance of it ripping through the hub. I contacted AeroFix right away and they said to email pictures of the damage and they would replace the wheels as soon as possible, no charge. It is now the beginning of March 2016, yes, over TWO years later, and I have a trail of emails from Aerofix about the replacement wheels which never came. On the phone they are as nice as can be, apologize for the mix up, and promise to send me new wheels as soon as possible. And then nothing happens. I even have a complaint in to the Better Business Bureau, and BBB has received no response from the company about my issue. All I want to do is ride the bike I ordered, but it's a little hard to do that with mangled wheels. I even brought it to a local shop to see if they could just fix the problem on my dime, but they said it was beyond repair. They seem to make great products, but the way they ship leaves something to desire and their customer service is completely non-existent. I want to like them, but I really need a full bike to test out to do that..

With that said, once inside, they do a great job of stocking as much as possible given that this is a slightly smaller Big 5 location than others. I always make a point of coming to this location first because chances are checkout lines will be shorter and then if they don't have what I'm looking for I go up the street to the Granada Hills location. Staff here is also very friendly. They tend to only be at the register and aren't wandering around the store a ton, but I've also never really needed help finding things as the store is very well laid out and intuitive. Prices are fine. Nothing amazing, but they're better priced than other big box sporting good store chains so, once again, this is always our first stop for gear for our 3 growing kids & their youth sports gear. If you give them your email you'll get a weekly email with some good deals that often are catered to whatever sport season is about to start as well which I greatly appreciate. If not, chances are you'll get a coupon in the mail for 20% off or $5 off a purchase of $20 or more. So always keep an eye out for one of those if you know you are going to need to buy anything.
