I've been working with Coach James Jordan -- JJ -- for about six months now. My main reason for reaching out was pretty simple: I wanted to enjoy golf again. My swing had gotten flat and inconsistent, and as I've gotten older, it was becoming less sustainable and was even starting to cause some pain. JJ and I started with a half-day workshop focused on the fundamentals. Instead of trying to force me into a generic swing, he helped me understand how my swing should work for my body and built a baseline from there. I won't lie -- it's been a process. Some of the changes were dramatically different from what I had done for years, and I didn't grasp everything immediately. But I stuck with it, continued working with JJ through online lessons, and put in the practice on my own. Now I'm starting to see the payoff. My swing is becoming much more consistent, my body feels better, my scores are starting to come back down, and most importantly, I'm enjoying the game again. If you want a coach who is real with you and will tell you exactly what you need to work on to improve, JJ is your guy. His approach is biomechanically sound and tailored to the swing you have today -- not some one-size-fits-all model. Trust the process, put in the work, and you'll see results. I can also make this a little more casual and punchy for a Google review if that's where you plan to post it. read more

JJ is easily the best golf lesson I have ever received. I have got numerous golf lessons before and every time what I have worked on has only been temporary fixes and hasn't really stuck. JJ has already helped my game after just two hours working together immensely. He not only has taught me how to make the right adjustments to my swing but is the first golf coach I have worked with that taught me how to properly practice and work on my game. He is extremely engaged with helping new students get up to speed and will jump on the phone with you or text you back to answer any questions you have as well as discuss practice. We have discussed realistic goals for my game and I already see myself making strides towards them. read more

This guy is good instructor however comes with millions of problems and zero work ethic. You will spend more time listening to his issues than your golf lesson! I paid good money for 10 lessons and ended up only taking 6, and finally gave up since he brags more about how good he is, instead of focusing on an actual golf lesson!! I didn't even bother asking refund for the 4, that's how frustrated I got. Good luck if you are planning on a lesson! read more

James Jordan (JJ) is, hands down, the best golf teacher I have ever taken lessons from. I have taken from several Top 50 instructors in the US, and I would put Coach JJ at the top of the list . You will not find a more passionate, articulate, and dedicated coach. He invests in you personally and makes your success his priority, whether you are a hacker (like me), ranked junior, or Tour pro. I have done online and in person lessons with him- all of them have been top quality. I could not recommend him more highly. If you are located near Los Angeles, Agoura Hills, or take online lessons, see Coach JJ now to play your best golf ever! read more

James only cares about his juniors, collegiate, and pro players. During my set of lessons with James, he was often distracted posting instagram posts for previous lessons. He hardly was paying attention to me and I was paying over $200/hour for each lesson. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM. He knows what he's doing, but doesn't really care about you unless you're going to give him more notoriety. He actually told me a few things that were very concerning. He said, "I would kick you out of my stable, but I like you."Also, during our lesson, he would often walk away and come back in 15 minutes. He would tell me to hit some balls and then leave. I was pretty disgusted by this. He's kind of a jerk and has a big ego. read more

After fifteen years of golf I had finally hit the wall. My golf game was good, but I wasn't improving. I had all the usual amateur issues, inconsistency, slicing, etc. James was recommend by a friend and I signed up for a couple lessons. I took TWO lessons from James and it completely changed my game. In a short time I have gone from a 12.5 handicap to a 9.0. Again, after only two lessons. I used to always tell my friends that if I could just gain 15 yards off the tee my game would dramatically improve. James gave me that extra distance and now I'm a single digit handicap and I'm enjoying the game on a whole new level. I'm looking forward to more lessons, I would recommend a lesson with James to anyone looking to get to the next level. read more

Based on my session, I would label his "training" as a waste of time. And a Charlatan at best. I bought a session from this guy and he literally spent 40 min talking about himself, who he has taught (celebrity name dropping, most of which I doubt), his health, his interracial marriage, how great a player he was, and so on. Saw him hit and was not impressed btw. After 45 min of this, we spent about 10 min on a wedge shot, and 2 min on driver (which I had specifically hired him for). At the end, he sped off claiming he had to be somewhere else. His marketing materials claim among other things, that he provide advance video analysis, diagnosis of your swing, drills and so on. I received none of this, just a bunch of him running his mouth and waste of time. Even though this lesson was months ago, I had to write this bc it was the biggest waste of $300+ for an hr of nothing, I ever spent in my life. Maybe he was a decent player at some point, and maybe he is a decent instructor to some, but what I got was total crap and a waste of time and $$$. Had to get this off my chest, and I would (strongly) advise paying this guy (AFTER) you have the lesson and get an agreement on scope of what will be covered. Honestly, I was planning to request a refund since I paid via paypal, but due to work and international travel the time elapsed. As with any spend, just pls be a smart consumer and due your diligence. As golfers we sometimes get over-zealous and fall prey to people's over promise and under deliver. Good luck! read more

There is a reason James has all 5 star reviews. I just took a course with him last week. I had never hit a golf ball before in my life. I left the session with the ability and knowledge to start actually playing- I've been at the range twice since our lesson, and I'm improving quickly. He is the nicest guy you'll ever meet- he is not intimidating or pushy in any way. Furthermore, when I went to the range, and mentioned to two people that I was brand now, they both (on separate occasions) told me that I should go see Jordan James, because he is such a terrific teacher. Seriously, you can't go wrong, this guy is good. Finally, my favorite thing about James was his honesty. After our first lesson, I asked him when we should meet next, assuming that he would set a weekly schedule. Instead, he told me I should spend a lot of time at the range first to improve what I learned, and then call him again in a few weeks for another lesson. Instead of taking my guaranteed money, he told me I was better off practicing, first. That just shows how honest and upright of a person he really is. read more

First off, the goal (for my daughter) is to play competitive golf in pursuit of one day playing as a collegiate golfer. I've had my daughter in golf camps and first tee programs since she was 5. I randomly found James on Instagram while browsing golf instruction/coaches. I watched his work in particular with junior golfers, and I loved how he interacted and taught the kids, especially with instantaneous video playback. Nothing grabs kids' attention more than seeing themselves hitting golf balls on an iPad during and after a lesson. My 12 year old had been away from formal instruction for nearly 2 years, since her other private coach had relocated to a different state, so I had been really looking hard for a teacher that was serious, technical, but compassionate. When I saw James being super involved with his students, and when I saw how well he relayed his swing theories into easy to understand principles for not just kids but me as well, I knew I found the perfect teacher. I initially made one appointment to see if my daughter meshed well, personality wise. She took well to James immediately, and after asking her input, we signed up for a series of lessons. It's very obvious he cares, and he has a passion for golf. It's almost unfair to go to other ranges and see some junior golf coaches mailing it in on their lessons because James is on another level of coaching. It's only been 3 months into it now, and she has improved dramatically. We see James every 2-3 weeks, and aside from the follow up emails assigning and reiterating the homework/practice with what to work on when we're on our own,, we've also implemented his short game/putting practice procedures (which are a lot of fun btw) and I see my baby grinding out those putts like it was a real tournament. I enjoy seeing short video clips sent to me from James of our progress, and i compare those to when she first started, so it's easy to track progress or go back and review what to work on to get those fundamentals back on track when things go awry. Definitely recommend, definite coach for life. read more

A little about myself and how I found James: back in October, I decided to pick up golf again (took the past 5-6 years off) and ran into him at the Woodley Lakes range where he teaches. One thing lead to another and I am now one of his students, seeking his tutelage biweekly. I feel that I've made huge strides in my golf game as a result of James' instruction, and that my swing looks and performs incrementally more tour-like after each of his lessons. Here are a few of the things that sold me on James: *It is rare to see a teacher who can teach the range of people he does, which tells me he really knows the ins and outs of a golf swing (from what I've seen, he teaches everyone from weekend warriors to people vying for spots on various tours) *He gives you notes on the lesson, before/after photos AND videos of what you worked on during the lesson, as well as homework designed to ingrain what you just learned (he emails you all of this) *Last but not least, he's an extremely likable and charismatic guy. I go to the range multiple times a week and I have yet to see James without positive energy. He truly wants to see his students succeed with whatever their goals may be I may be biased as I am already one of his students, but I truly think James is the real deal and would recommend him to anyone looking for a golf instructor. read more

Funny enough, I actually found JJ on Yelp. Now I am 10 sessions in, and my game is improving fast! I've had lessons in the past, but James is the first to follow up every session with a personalized breakdown of our practice. He will include photos from the day, and even video analysis! That's one of the biggest value adds you get from working with him. He's also a likable guy, and makes you feel like you're hanging out with a good friend that's helping you improve your game. So far we've mainly worked on chipping, my irons & we're just starting to dial in my new driver (which he actually recommended I see his buddy at Golfsmith to buy. His friend over there hung out with me in the in-store simulator, and let me try out a lot of different drivers. I finally found the perfect fit!) James had pointed out that the driver I was trying to hit before, was too light for my club-head speed. He also recommended that I get one that wasn't only heavier, but had an extra stiff shaft. Such good advice! I seriously could not hit my driver well for years, and now I'm smashing 300 yard drives! I'm really looking forward to an on-course lesson with him soon. So far I've only done the driving range, and putting green. If you're looking to take your game to the next level, it's worth the investment. TIP: Check out his website for a deal on 4 packs of sessions. read more

After struggling to regain my "scratch" status as a 30+ year old golfer, nagging injuries, bad habits creeping in, James transformed my emotional, mental and physical game. I've never played better, or had more fun. James Jordan is a golf wizard! read more

I spent a few sessions with James working on putting... only putting nothing else. It was awesome... he worked with me on my mental approach along with helping me keep my body quiet through my stroke. I would say on average i have dropped about 4 strokes per round due to my increased confidence around the green and my ability to drop putts more than i ever have before. James has a unique view of the game and it shows... highly recommended. read more

Just starting out, I've been learning to play the game of golf for a few months now. I take some lessons from time to time with James and he always reminds me right from wrong. He really takes the time to show me the basic instruction for a beginner like me and keeps it fun in the process. Nice to have someone take the stress off a game that seems so simple, but takes so much time to learn right! James is great! read more

In a span of 20 years, James is my fifth golf instructor. And he is the only one that has been able to give me fixes/changes that I see an immediate benefit. He doesn't teach by positions, he understands biomechanics and explains how to achieve the positions through proper movement. I've never understood the golf swing better and how to improve mine. I highly recommend him for all levels. read more

Bad. Requested his rates via text and didn't hear back for hours. I then texted, "thanks I'll keep looking "and he shoed me off for being too "urgent". Recommended another teacher. When I texted him one last time offering a suggestion for handing and approaching potential new students/clients (I am a business owner myself), he responded by telling me how busy he is and that he "better not ever see my face at the golf facility, near his staff or students, ever". This guy didn't even know my name or gender. He just knew me via a phone number. He can't handle criticism, so do yourself a favor and spare yourself from his. Also, he's an independent contractor. He has no authority to ban random people from someone else's golf course. I was later informed by a staff member that James Jordan treats the staff very poorly. I've viewed his instructional videos. He's narcissistic. He also lies. Spare yourself the trouble and find yourself an honest and respectful teacher. read more

James is always patient with me and helps me better my swing and understanding of how to play the game of golf. He is great at providing me feedback that is not filled with a bunch of golf terms that a beginner like myself may not be familiar with. He will see one thing I am doing wrong and give me just the right amount of feedback that will quickly correct what I am working on. I definitely recommend him for any level your golf game is at. You can tell he loves what he does, and makes it as fun and enjoyable as possible. read more

My fiancé gifted me a lesson with James and I completed it today. All I can say is, WOW - unbelievable experience. James knowledge and passion for the game is remarkable and it truly shows. James took the time to really understand my game and the challenges I was having. He then chose a few parts of my game that needed the most work and broke them down with video analysis, made a few changes, commented on all things I was doing well, and put together a practice plan for me to work on in my own time. My lesson was at 1:00pm today and at 4:00, I received an email from James with videos, photos of my swing - along with edits drawn in, all items we had discussed in the lesson (grip changes, ball placement, angle of attacking on the ball). Overall great experience and I will certainly be going back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for golfers of ALL LEVELS. read more

I was researching for the best golf pro instructors in Los Angeles, and narrowed it down to James. I had selected and paid for a private lesson to give as a present. FIRST CLASS LESSON IN LA. I have been playing golf for 20 years and hit a rough patch in my game. I did research on many pros in the area and James was recommended by a friend. His knowledge of the game and understanding my golf game needs is A+. He has a humble approach which makes it easy during the lesson to be yourself and not nervous. This allowed for me to get the most out of the lesson. The most important factor is that my game improved dramatically. He helped me getting off the tee, hitting my irons more consistently, and dropping more putts. I highly recommend James Jordan. read more

I've been playing golf for about 20 years now and I hover around an 8 handicap. In the past, I have had numerous instructors, golftec, etc. The help over the years was never spectacular, until I met James. There are several things about him that make him a fantastic instructor. First, he understands the golf swing at every level, which allows him to apply these fundamentals to anyone's swing. Second, he is very thorough with the lesson plan and the immediate access to the lesson videos is very helpful. Third, he is generally a good guy and he makes the lesson fun. Overall, James has transformed my game and I can finally hit those piercing iron shots that I have always wanted to. read more

I first came to visit James a year ago after seeing the results from different members of the Sepulveda Men's Golf Club. Each of these guys had different swings with different issues but they began showing a more fluid and simplified stroke and a much improved mental approach to the game. I gave him a shot soon after- James is my third swing coach in just over 7 years and I can honestly say that he is the most thorough and easiest to communicate with. Each session starts with me sharing the state of my game then moves into a swing analysis. After that we move into the key points of my swing that need to be addressed. Most sessions end here but this is where the value comes in. You will find that his rate is higher than average but I receive an email shortly after each session with video of pre and post adjustments, a written review of the session and suggested drills to work on until the next session. The video portion alone is an up charge from most swing coaches but it's a part of every session with James... The feedback from that alone is well worth it! In addition, I receive emails from James with tips, drills and notes to help with the mental part of the game. James has become a great friend through my sessions over the last year and I'm glad he has an ear open for the parts of the game that are completely mental/psychological- heaven knows this game makes us all a little nuts! Please give James a call or check out his website at the very least. He will help you improve your game. GP- read more

I could not speak more highly of James. I am an intermediate golfer who has had lessons with instructors in various cities in which I have lived all around the world. None of them come close to the guidance James has given me. I was having trouble with my short game and losing confidence quickly. James identified my issues immediately and now I have full confidence approaching the green. He is now working on my driver and fairway shots to get greater length and accuracy. He always emails a detailed review of the lesson which includes images and footage of the before and after - incredibly helpful, plus he gives me exercises to practice at home which help to perfect my swing. I will continue to see James every few weeks for lessons because I know I'm going to continue to get results through his teaching methods. And on top of all of this, James is such a great guy and makes the lessons so much fun and memorable! THANK YOU JAMES!!!! read more
