Knowing that rain was in the forecast, I called multiple times ahead of my tee time to ask about their cancellation policy. Each time, I was told I would be fine as long as I canceled within 24 hours. As the date got closer and the forecast showed a near 100% chance of rain, I decided to cancel 48 hours in advance just to be safe. When I called, the staff member simply confirmed the cancellation without mentioning anything else. Later, I realized I had been charged an $80 fee tied to the advanced booking. I called back to resolve the issue, and while Chris at the front desk was helpful and understanding, he explained there was nothing he could do. He did mention that if I had waited and canceled the day of due to the rain, I would have received a full refund. That was extremely frustrating to hear, especially since I had gone out of my way to call ahead multiple times and follow the guidance I was given. This situation could have easily been avoided if the staff member who processed my cancellation had simply informed me to wait until the day of. Instead, I was left paying $80 unnecessarily. I really like this course, but this experience felt unfair and poorly handled. Clear and accurate communication from staff would have made all the difference.

Don't you just hate it when a Yelp review praises a place, but doesn't post pics?!?! I mean HOW can…read morea reviewer, in this day and age not have at least ONE PICTURE of the place they're praising and rating???? Came here for my HS reunion, running late. The golden hour was casting a glow on an empty check-in table so my friends, Romy & Michele, and I grabbed available name tags and headed in. Lucky for us, arriving late and walking in the bar entrance meant NO WAITING. Staff for this event was young and friendly. Margaritas were made to order, not batched, delicious and packed a punch. Yay! But I was too excited to begin mingling and already side checked by old friends before I even had a sip. I barely had time to glance around at the furnishings, a mix of country club dining vibes and Craftsman hunting lodge warmth, before we were ushered out to the patio and up an elevated golf cart path to take a group photo. As we finished and slowly began making our way back to the outdoor patio, one final foursome came down the cart path. The outdoor area had all the necessary tables and chairs arranged and school colors highlighted the simple, but tasteful event decor. To one end was a large "U" shaped arrangement getting set with chafing dishes and iced trays for salad items. Steadily, eat table approached for their buffet dinner: dry spinach salad with optional DIY dressings, steak, ribs, bbq chicken, steamed asparagus fingerling potatoes, corn cobs and bread. I chose the steak, spinach sans dressing and asparagus. THE STEAK WAS SOOOO TENDER and FLAVORFUL! Around the various tables you could hear the praises being sung of that beef! The spinach was fresh and crisp and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The chicken and ribs both looked very good and some said it was, but I skipped these finger foods for the sake of vanity and good impressions - both of which would've been left in the dust if this were just another Saturday night in the Conejo Valley. Throughout the night the service was efficient, friendly and very helpful. After the buffet dishes were removed, platters of cookies came out for dessert. These were THE BEST COOKIES I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! Romy was the first to try 'My GOD that's good! You have to go get the cookies!' Being loyal and obedient, I did. I wish they had been labeled, but then again, I've yet to meet a cookie I didn't, at the very least, think was ok, so I selected 3. One was a lemon (so refreshing (can a cookie actually BE refreshing???) following the steak dinner. The next was a chocolate chip, but it was somehow more than that. Slightly chunky, but oh so soft. The third was a soft and chewy, delightful snickerdoodle. By the time I had finished enjoying those, I heard raves from around me about the chocolate cake that suddenly was being PASSED AROUND by classmates who had decided the best way to prove how good the cake was was by absconding the entire serving tray, a handful of forks and approach anyone sitting without chocolate frosting on their hands and face! LOL! I managed to dodge the indulgently moist, chocolate-y dessert, but not without smelling the intense flavor from a few feet away. I think I want to come back for that cake! I understand they have live music on Fri & Sat nights, so I want to check that out in particular. Lots of free parking and well maintained facilities. Yes, I - for this review alone - am that person who does not have ONE SINGLE PICTURE of the venue or food. But it was very good and I have every intention of returning to see if the dining room serves the same level of deliciousness as the catering for our private event. Cheers! "CC"

This place is a true jewel of the area and a total hidden gem. The staff is top-notch and handled every detail of the celebration flawlessly. We were blown away by the catering; the food was excellent, and the portions were huge! Best place to play golf in the county -- Moorpark Country Club is on another level…read more First off, the prices are incredibly reasonable considering everything this course offers. From the moment you arrive, the clubhouse staff and bar team are welcoming, helpful, and just genuinely cool people. Quick recommendation: grab the turkey sandwich with chipotle aioli -- absolute must-try. One of the things that makes this course so special is the 3 different 9-hole layouts. Each round feels fresh because you're usually playing a different combination, which keeps things interesting and helps the pace of play stay smooth. It's a smart setup and it shows. The course conditions are outstanding. The grass is pristine, the greens roll beautifully, and it's obvious the grounds crew takes real pride in their work. Everything feels well cared for. The carts are awesome too -- full GPS yardages to the pin, Bluetooth connectivity, and speakers so you can play your music while you ride. Small touches like that really elevate the experience. And the scenery? Incredible. The view from Hole 2 on Ridgeline alone is worth the trip -- one of the best views anywhere in the county. The driving range is another highlight since you get to hit off real grass, which makes practice feel like the real thing. Overall: great staff, beautiful course, excellent conditions, fun layout variety, and top-tier amenities. Easy 5/5. Hands down my favorite place to play golf in the county.

The course is open to the public, but also has members like a typical country club, and I liked that many of the members seemed familiar with each other and the staff. Moorpark CC has three 9s, and I had the opportunity to play the Ridgeline and Creekside sides (first time on both). Both courses were in good shape, and the greens were very fast. Ridgeline is definitely the easier of the two courses -- it's generally wider, and there aren't nearly as many forced carries. Number five is a tricky blind tee shot if you've never played the course and don't know where to aim (aka my experience), but the rest of the holes are pretty straight up (though still challenging). Creekside was a beast -- not only is it narrower, but there are hazards on nearly both sides of every fairway, many of which are automatic unplayables (and some of which are unmarked), so your score can balloon quickly -- for reference, I shot +2 on Ridgeline and +11 on Creekside... There are a couple of very cool holes right in a row (a set of a par 4 up the mountain, a drivable par 4 off of a cliff, and a par 3 also off of an elevated tee), which was this side's saving grace for me. My only complaint is that the course doesn't seem to be marshaled. I was playing as a single (with a cart), and was stuck behind a not-very-good and slow foursome, who wouldn't let me play through and were taking their sweet time on every shot.

There are certain people that are kind but overall they make the experience so much worse by being so rude. They charge a $10 booking as well as a $10 walk in fee so there is no avoiding that. I understand that they are a course that has strict rules, i think that's great but there definitely needs to be improvements to make people want to go back. They also charge a spectator fee even if you don't golf at all. Me and another spectator that came got told multiple times that we could not be in our own cart and had to be with a golfer. Even when we would get out of the cart to discuss something or just sit in the same cart while we were stopped at a hole, one man was very rude in a cart with a red flag told us we would have to leave if we did that again. They are way over the top for a course like this. They think they are Pebble Beach or something. I'm surprised there's not a fee for talking to the staff or for calling.
