Mike from simply moving was the first company to respond to my moving quote request. A few short emails later I had my move confirmed. The price was very reasonable and Mike was courteous and professional throughout the process; every step was explained in detail and for the price of my move, the COI was also included which is a huge plus. On the day of my move, despite rainy weather and traffic congestion, Max and his colleague moved all of my belongings within 1.5 hours (if you minus the time spent in transit). The guys were courteous, efficient and made the entire process an almost enjoyable one. Even the doorman at my new place was impressed by their service! We used them for our move 4 years ago from Brooklyn to LIC and they were good, fast and nothing was broken. So we used them again to move from LIC to Forest Hills. First, the person who came to do an inventory on site missed a sofa. So our estimate was off. When the movers realized this they said they would have to call the company and the company would charge us more. Otherwise we could pay him and he would give us a break. This sounded like a scam but we didn't have much of a choice. The movers put our flat screen tv in a box without any padding. It was destroyed. the screen was damaged. Their insurance refused to pay for the damaged tv because there was no 'outside' obvious damage. Also later we found that a bicycle was damaged during the move. We didn't even attempt to collect, since the damage was functional and not something we could show on a photograph. The movers made a big deal about our furniture being too big for the new place and had to remove doors, for which they made us sign waivers. They could not take apart a shed and we had to leave it. They also complained that the Ikea bookcase and our CA king bed frame would not fit up the stairs, so we decided to dispose of both. That said, they did manage to get the sofa bed, the mattress and a few pieces of large heavy furniture up one or two flights of stairs, hence the two stars. Simply amazing! Nelson, Tony, and Marco went above and beyond what was expected, helping me take out the trash and load my car on top of moving all of my copious belongings. The entire experience was so pleasant from start to finish. Contacting them and getting a quote was very easy. They responded to my request right away and called me to set up everything. No forms to fill out, just a deposit on my credit card that was done over the phone. The remaining balance was also taken care of on that same card once the move was completed. The less you need to worry about on a busy moving day the better, and Simply Moving knows this and takes care of you. The team arrived before their projected time by about 5 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. Usually when you get a time window, the service arrives in the mid to late part of the window. They brought tons of packing supplies which kept all my belongings safe and secure. The guys were super strong too, able to carry my very large dresser with all the packed drawers still in it. They made quick work of everything, disassembling my bed and entertainment unit with ease and reassembling them in my new apartment. I recorded all the large item I needed moved and factored in 10 additional boxes for the estimate. I know I went over than number, but the quote was what I paid, with no additional or hidden fees. I have helped friends move in the past and have not seen a moving service as quick, efficient, and friendly as Simply Moving. I'll be recommending them to my friends and family in the future. Best moving experience ever. Simply was first to reply back with a very reasonable quote, they set everything up in one call and worked with me around my schedule. So it started well... but then only got better. They arrived in the time slot, were friendly, and boy could they move. They had my stuff up and out a walk up in less than an hour and even beat me over to my new place in jersey city. That's when the real magic started. I think they were done unloading in 40 minutes tops, probably because the elevator slowed them up! I was incredibly stressed about moving and these guys made it incredibly easy. Best moving experience I've ever had! My fiancé and I moved in together into a new apartment so we had two moves to do. I moved my stuff from my apartment in NYC to a storage unit last week with Simply Moving. The move itself seemed go OK (I'll have to check to see if anything broke once it's out of storage or if any items are damaged due to the packing tape used); however, the movers had to be asked multiple times to wear masks. I do not think this is the fault of the movers - the company (Simply Moving) should be providing adequate training and safety gear (face shields, etc.) that allow the movers to work in the heat while also ensuring their customers / movers stay safe. I called their customer service line and was told they were receiving multiple complaints and were working on a solution, but they did not seem to be taking the feedback very seriously (if they knew about this issue, why hadn't it been resolved or why hadn't they paused operations until it could be resolved). Overall disappointed and would likely not recommend. read more

Simply moving made one of the most miserable activities in life (moving in New York) manageable and even somewhat pleasant. The great service started when I called for a quote. Make sure you leave plenty of time for this call, because the dude literally had me count every single piece of furniture in my apartment along with me, figuring out how much space we would need in the truck and offering extra services like a wardrobe box so you don't have to take off and re-hang all of your clothes when you move (genius)! The quoted price was a flat rate and though it was higher than some other quotes I got, I just trusted these guys more and they were way more thorough, and assured me there'd be no surprise costs. These movers are amazing. There should be an Olympic event for moving big ass stuff down a 5th floor walkup. There were only two guys which concerned me at first but they knew what they were doing, were friendly, and best of all thorough. Just a couple of surprises that I chalk up to the wretched experience of moving: first, though we were told that they'd cover any traffic tickets that the truck got while moving us, the movers told us on the day of that if they got a ticket for parking in front of a hydrant that we'd have to pay. Not sure why it was an exception but luckily they didn't get a ticket so it was all good. Second, there were a few small scratches on some of our stuff... a wooden coffee table, musical instrument cases, etc. It's weird because they seemed to wrap everything up pretty securely but again, I think it's impossible to avoid 100% of bumps and scratches when moving an entire home across the city. I have chosen this mover after seeing many good reviews on Yelp. But It was a BIG mistake. Their problems are as follows: 1)There is NO update for the delivery date. I moved from NY to Seattle. I asked them to pick up my stuffs on 6/28 and deliver on 7/10. I was told the delivery date was not guaranteed. So I thought it would be OK even if they cannot make it on 7/10. The problem is that they didn't let me know when I would receive the stuffs. Their estimated delivery window always showed "7/1/2016 to 7/22/2016." When I complained about that, their answer was "that only means that we can deliver anytime from 7/1/2016 to 7/22/2016!" What a useless delivery window! 2)The actual delivery date CANNOT be chosen by a customer if they missed the original date. On 7/8 I asked them about he delivery date and they said it would be between 7/14 and 7/18. So I reserved the docking station of my building during the period. But they called me at 9am on 7/12 and said "we will deliver at 7am tomorrow. " My building does not allow the tenants to use the docking station in the morning. So I said "I cannot pick up." Their answer is "if you cannot pick up, the stuffs will be stored in the warehouse and be delivered in 2 to 3 weeks. You have to pay for the storage fee. NO OPTION!" I didn't expect such an unprofessional and rude answer. Moreover, they didn't make a promise that they let me know the delivery date and time 24 hours before the delivery. After all, I reserved a warehouse by myself and asked them to drop off the stuffs there on 7/13. After that, I had to use a local mover to deliver them from the warehouse to my apartment. The total additional costs were over $800... If you plan a long-distance moving, NEVER use this mover! read more

Let me start by saying that my husband and I have moved 5 times in the last 5 years. We move for work and while we don't relish the task there are movers who make it easier or more difficult by their proficiency or lack of it. Simply Moving were some of the best we have ever used. When we move again in a year or two we will definitely call them again. These guys unloaded our truck with skill, speed and efficiency. They first took off and reassembled all our furniture and made sure that the placement was to our liking. It was only after that they unloaded the boxes. And they unloaded some things to our basement storage and other things (boxes for my husband's office) into our car. They were willing to do whatever in order to be helpful. All that and they were still done in 2 hours for a two bedroom apartment's worth of stuff in a 26 ft Penske truck. I've used Yelp for quite some time but never been a fan of writing reviews. Call me a lurker, but all of that changed when I had such a wonderful experience with Simply Moving. Let me start with the fact that: I hate moving. It is not only super stressful, time consuming, often expensive, often nerve wrecking, and full of opportunities for major screw-ups. I lived in my original place for over 10 years and although my furniture is not extremely expensive, a lot of it has sentimental value: a piano my mother bought for me when I was young, a dresser that I got from my grandmother, a comfortable bed that I luckily kept bed bug free, a sofa that can withstand a horde of couch-surfers and then there are boxes upon boxes stacked with books, electronics, equipment and clothes. Simply Moving was my fourth choice. I called a few other places who asked me a few basic questions regarding location, availability and heavy furniture and then proceeded to give me estimated quotes which were not guaranteed in the first place. I really didn't like the whole idea of playing "limbo" with moving and eventually bumped into Simply Moving. I called up the number and spoke to the owner, Stefan, who was very down to earth and straight forward when it comes to not just moving but pretty much everything else. My major concerns were regarding costs (trying to be independent while paying off loans), time table (needed to move within four days) and reliability (lots of electronics). Stefan actually showed up at my place that same evening, looked over the entire place, told me some jokes about his gf that lives in my area and gave me an estimate that was far lower than I originally expected. At first I was a bit suspicious, but he assured me that everything will be handled with utmost care and explained the whole process regarding insurance of items. The move itself was relatively painless. Stefan sent not two but three guys who appeared as if they were childhood friends, joking around the entire time and effortlessly handling all of the heavy items as well as my precious delicate electronic cargo. I was super relieved to find them not just be experienced when it comes to using their equipment and trucks, but also body mechanics which made it seem like each of them can carry three times their weight. Everything was carefully packed, moved onto the truck, secured, unpacked, and brought upstairs (using an elevator) to the new place within a matter of a few hours. At the very end, I actually had the owner Stefan show up at my place to inspect the moving in person! Quite frankly I didn't even expect such a personalized experience with attention to detail. Also due to the costs of such excellent work was so low I tipped the moving guys generously and urged Stefan to grab drinks with me once I settle in fully. He seems to be the type that treats his customers like close friends and I would like to return the favor. Indeed, Simply Moving makes the process of hauling your stuff from point A to point B in the most simple, efficient and worry-free manner process. Stefan was the first mover to contact me regarding my move. He was very friendly and made sure my move would be enjoyable and stress free. To move many of my large furniture items he gave me a very affordable price to move me from Staten Island (yuck) to Queens. On the day of the move, they arrived right on time with all the tools necessary to make the move as efficient as possible. The only hiccup was that my glass on my coffee table was scratched. They were criminally irresponsible and hardly protected things at all (delicate antique wooden shelves were crushed, oil paintings were cut opened with slash marks...???) I wish I could remember the woman's name who gave me a free quote over the phone, she was so helpful and accommodating to my last minute deal. I found an excellent deal on Living Social, it was extremely easy to set up and adjust the appointment. They are extremely courteous, helpful and professional in the office. On the day of the move they arrived early, James and his crew were thorough, kind and professional. They cleared out the house quickly and carefully. They arrived at my new house very fast, unloaded the truck and placed things where I asked. I was a little wary of Simply Moving because of the Living Social deal. Was I going to get a cheap service or a good deal? I ended up with an amazing deal and an amazing moving day experience thanks to James and the guys. I'm the kind of person who is always looking for the answer. The one to end the search. When it came time to find a mover, I asked everyone I knew. I landed on Thumbtack through a google search and the first response I received was from Simply Moving. The price to move a studio on the last day of June was $495, which was less money than I was quoted by the big moving companies. I was told it would $100 less if I moved the previous week. Although I didn't take advantage, they also have a $50 for $100 deal here. Clayton and his crew were timely, professional, and very friendly. Although our furniture wasn't the fanciest, they cared for and wrapped everything like it was a family heirloom. My girl friend and I had a bet on how long it would take to remove everything from our apartment. I said 1.5 hours, she said 2 hours. We were both glad that they had removed everything, including dealing with a slow service elevator in 1.5 hours. Watching them work taught me a few moving tips like wrapping furniture in plastic wrap and moving legged furniture on its side to avoid breaking the legs from the truck vibrations. In about 4 hours total, including transit and traffic, our belongings were deposited into our new apartment. Boxes stacking in neat rows in the center of our living room. When we began unpacking the only damage I found was a chip in one coffee mug, so overall, I would say they treated our fragile belongings with care. Although, I have some more unpacking to do before I can make a definitive statement. The only things I wish were different was if they had brought a shiny new truck and had someone watching our belongings while they unloaded the truck. I guess even criminals realize how much moving sucks. :). What really put it over the top for me, was I had brought some boxes from another location, and one of the movers offered to help me unload my car and brought the boxes up to the apartment for me. Totally unexpected and amazing service. I was nervous about moving and using movers, but the experience, customer support, ability to get a certificate of insurance, and communication from our moving team while in transit to our first apartment was terrific. It took them 2 hours to load the truck. Most importantly, they did not properly anchor my bookshelf or nightstand in the truck and they were damaged. I was assured by the movers that both items would be repaired or replaced, however, Simply's claims department said I was only entitled to $100 - not even enough to replace one of the items. Moving is STRESSFUL. THESE GUYS WERE AMAZING. I was planning the worlds most stressful move between Philadelphia & NYC and it was down to the wire (24 hours in advance of the move)! We were also dealing with very strict Manhattan rules for moving into our building during certain days/times. Anthony helped me navigate this crazy stressful situation by recommending they pick my stuff up in Philly the day before & hold it over night. They did a second pick up from my boyfriends' apartment in Queens the next morning before heading into Manhattan. I probably spoke to Anthony 10 times to figure out all of these logistics and he was always wonderful--so professional & helpful! The movers were on time (for both pick ups) & totally great. They took great care with our things while also working efficiently. They went above and beyond moving us into our NYC apartment while navigating parking/moving the truck in Manhattan. I did not actually get service from this company. This review is purely regarding the sales process/policies. Simply Moving cannot confirm COVID vaccination status of individuals sent to your residence. I called and sent multiple emails to try and have fully vaccinated individuals assigned to my move, but this was not something Simply Moving could do. Having potentially unvaccinated movers spend hours in your apartment (even if they are masked) most certainly increases your risk of contracting COVID. As a consumer, this is not a risk I'm willing to take. I fully respect the right of a private business to not ask employees/contractors for vaccination status but if a review is meant to be an indicator of perceived quality, the inability to provide consumers with vaccination status of assigned movers means this is a lower quality service in my opinion. Simply Moved was prompt in replying to messages and easy to contact. If not for COVID, I would have certainly been happy to work with them. ------------------------ Response to Simply Moving's feedback: Fair enough. You have a right to run your business as you please. But I do want to address one statement you made: Your statement that it's equally risky having vaccinated vs unvaccinated individuals in your apartment for the move is simply false - it's *far* more risky to be in contact with unvaccinated individuals. Vaccinated people are in fact less likely to spread COVID, and when they do spread COVID they typically spread less COVID particles than unvaccinated individuals (numerous credible online sources, credible media, credible doctors, etc can confirm this). So having unvaccinated movers does in fact add more risk to the consumer compared to vaccinated movers. Some consumers might find this acceptable; I did not. I was able to find multiple other moving companies in NYC that could confirm vaccination status and provide vaccination cards for their employees/contractors. read more

I recently moved from The Bronx to Queens and prior to my move I struggled to find a good trust worthy moving company until I called and spoke with Masi. Masi was so professional, helpful and an angel to me. Moving is stressful as it is but when you live alone it's even harder and Masi was able to calm my fears down. I used Simply to move from New York to the DC area, and it was as good a moving experience as I've ever had (and I've moved a lot over the years). The movers were very professional. They showed up on time, did a great job packing and unpacking my stuff, and were careful and respectful of my belongings. In a 235-mile move, the only things that broke were one stemmed wine glass and a plate that was already chipped before the move. From fine china to leather sofas, and from stereo to houseplants, everything else made it intact. The added bonus (and paradoxically the reason I at first hesitated to hire Simply) was that they quoted me a significantly cheaper price for this move than any of the other movers I contacted.
