Stopped by for lunch during a workday, was hoping for a local Greek restaurant to add to the list. Service was quick and very friendly, but unfortunately I did not enjoy my sandwich at all. The gyro was over seasoned and did not taste very fresh, the wrap was lacking sauce and that light Mediterranean feeling, and it costs nearly 15 bucks! We were attracted to this place due to the high ratings on Yelp. This is a cozy Greek Restaurant with half a dozen small tables. It was almost full when we came here during lunch on a Friday. You order and pay up front. There's a number of sample dishes present to give an idea of what the food looks like. Note that they're only open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 8pm, and closed on Sundays and Mondays. There's a simple one-page menu. You could get 'Pitas' for $15.50 and 'Platters' for $18.50. Looking at photos from past menus, it looks like prices have gone up quite a bit, even since April this year. The owners were very nice and friendly. We ordered pitas. Each one comes with a side - you could choose between French fries, sweet potato fries and spinach rice. The pita itself is delicious, with the right amount of crunch. This is my review of their to go order. Do not order the spanakopita to go. It's all mushy once it gets to your house which just defeats the purpose of the flaky crust. Maybe if they wrapped it in foil, packaged it separately or used anything other than the styrofoam containers. I'd like to try the food at the actual restaurant next time as I'm always trying to find good, flaky spanakopita. I am a tiny bit hesitant as my tummy has been upset all day, hence the 3 stars. This is about as good as it will get in this area. Stopped in here for a bite while my buddies grabbed a snow cone next door, and I'm glad I did! I wanted just a little pita to go and was a little frustrated, because all the different pitas have their own name, but no description. Luckily the gal at the counter, who was training the new person on register, quickly ascertained what I needed and got it started. I let her know I'd be next door and she even offered to bring my food over. $13 and about ten minutes later, she handed my food directly as I stood inside Bahama Bucks. The food is fresh, the portions adequate, and it all plays nicely together. I, personally, love raw onion, and thus loved its fresh crunch it lends to the pita, but know that it has a LINGERING PRESENCE. All told, the to-go experience here is quick, friendly, and delicious. So ..... I forgot to put the bakers in the oven... so Gyros it is! Manny's in Copperfield has been closed for a while so we decided to try Simple Greek gyros in Cypress off Telge Rd. Which is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! Terry, the new owner, greeted me with a smile as I walked in. Looking around at his quaint little shop, it was hard not to smile. It was beautiful and clean. At the front there was a chalk board you could sign/doodle on. On the left side there was a small 5 table seating area, with what looked to be huge seaside silk like painting. The restrooms were in the back. On the right wall there was another huge silk like painting of a Greek column. The kitchen area was small and clean. For dinner we chose the traditional Zeus gyros, a blend of lamb/beef, lightly seasoned, lettuce, tomato, red onion and homemade tzatziki sauce, although there are a few others to choose from. We also got a Zeus gyro platter, that included a salad and side. The Greek salad we chose had romaine lettuce, fresh feta, Kalamata olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions topped with a little dolmade. The vinaigrette dressing was lite and flavorful. We chose the fries topped with fresh feta cheese and oregano, Greek style, as our side. I couldn't pass up the hummus, as it was also fresh made and delicious! Next time, I'm going to have to remember to get some baklava for MrM! As we chatted while our Togo order was made, I discovered Terry not only knows Manny but is long time friends with him! Not hard to believe after eating dinner. Although Terry took over about two months, the menu online, and even the sign above the entrance, have NOT been updated. They NO LONGER SERVE BURGERS, PIZZA, HOTDOGS OR WINGS. Now, it's SIMPLY GREEK food. They do have a pita grilled cheese and chicken fingers, served with fries, on the kids menu. read more

My entire extended family has been here many times. Not once have we had a bad experience. Everything on the menu is incredible! You can't go wrong at all. Of course the Gyros are the best! It's all cooked to order nothing that's been sitting around waiting to be served. A wonderful staff the owner, Lefty, is usually always there at the restaurant. Always has a smile on his face and makes you feel like a family member when you come into eat. The inside isn't large but I still love to sit here and eat. I am a huge Niko Niko fan and have been a patron there for 15+ years. But sometimes you don't want to travel 30 minutes for your Greek fix. Simply Greek is the answer to those cravings. The food is tasty, homemade and plentiful. The hummus is a standout, the oven baked lemon potatoes are delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. If I had a ding is the decor and interior need a rework and the restaurant needs more ventilation to help with kitchen oil smell. A hidden gem for great tasting Greek food in Cypress. The restaurant is fairly small and I noticed several people getting food to go, but they do have seating available. I got the lamb gyro with everything on it and it was so good. The pita bread was warm and soft and the lamb was cooked to perfection. For my side I got the Greek fries with feta cheese and they were good as well. The portions are very generous. I also saw the Greek salad that a neighboring table ordered and it looked fantastic. I used to go there and rated it a 5. Great food and service. But, ownership has changed and so has the food taste. I had a Gyro pita. The gyro was not all sliced meat we used to get. It was crumbles mixed with a few small slices. You could also see the sprinkling of seasoning throughout the sandwich. Meat was dry. The round potato fries are gone and now traditional fries. The hummus was bland. The meat (ordered chicken & gyro) was dry in taste and texture. Even the falafel was dry and flavorless. I used to pick up from the place all the time, and occasionally dined in with my husband. The owner, Terry, is extremely charismatic! He's charming, attentive, and know's how to make customers feel right at home. He also treats his employees APPALLINGLY, in case you've ever wondered why he can't keep anybody for longer than a couple months. Don't tip card. The staff doesn't see a penny of it, it goes straight to the owner. We loved the food, but haven't returned ever since overhearing him verbally abusing and insulting his cook. I immediately lost my appetite and wanted to leave. We asked the cook for a to-go box, and his energy had completely changed, like the life had been drained out of him. I forget the cook's name, but every single time we went, he greeted us with a smile and delivered outstanding service. He was there every time I went, sometimes being the only person working the restaurant. The owner cheerfully wished us a good night as we walked out. There is no doubt in my mind that his friendly attitude is a facade, and behind closed doors he is a miserable person. I keep seeing people rave on and on about this place, and knowing what I know it's truly exhausting. Please take your business elsewhere. Good food and service aren't worth your soul. read more
