We've always liked this restaurant, which is probably why tonight's experience was so disappointing. Service was a little slow, but they clearly got hit with a rush around 7. Being busy wasn't really the issue. How everything was handled was. My wife ordered a Caesar salad that we've had here before and enjoyed, but tonight it just wasn't good. We let our server know and asked if we could replace it with a small/kids-sized Alfredo instead. She wasn't particularly apologetic, but said she would take care of it. I actually had to hand her the salad to get it cleared from the table. By the time a manager came over, everyone else, including the kids, had completely finished eating. She apologized for the delay and explained that a large delivery order had come in, but then mentioned that we had "changed our order" afterward, but it would be out soon. Maybe she didn't mean it that way, but it landed like the delay was partly on us for sending back. We've both worked in restaurants, so we understand getting slammed. We understand large orders. We understand mistakes. What matters is communication and how you recover when something goes wrong. When our server brought the check, she told us she had "done what she could," which apparently meant removing the salad from the bill. Fair enough. Except after I signed, I realized we had also been charged for four glasses of wine when we only had three. At that point, we were done and just wanted to leave. None of these things individually would have prompted a bad review. It was the accumulation of them, along with the lack of ownership and the strange feeling that we were somehow inconveniencing the restaurant by pointing out a problem. This place is usually really good, and I genuinely hope this was just an off night. But it was easily the worst experience we've had here, and unfortunately it's one we'll remember before deciding to come back. read more

I will start off by saying this, I think Italian food is the most overrated food there is and I will never suggest this type of food because it's just not my favorite. However, this place is simply amazing! The customer service, the prices in the food are simply the best! I was blown away, And this is coming for someone who doesn't really even like Italian food. Food: where in Houston Texas can you get lunch for $11? It's homemade and simply amazing? The fresh bread they bring out is probably some of the best bread I've ever had from an Italian restaurant. We got some sort of appetizer that was like mozzarella cheese with a tomato on top and some capers. Very good. The Caesar salad was amazing. The lasagna was simply amazing. I cannot believe they serve such a huge portion for $11 and the best part is it's simply the best! I was blown away by their lasagna. Last we tried the tiramisu cake and it was so good. It was good! My wife had their Calzone, while I had their Meatball Sub. My only issue was the bread the sub was served on. It looked like they either hulled it out or heated it in a press. We come here very often, probably 2-3 times a month at least because it's a close and convenient eatery. Service is always nice. The people working there are very kind. The value of this place is good too. Food wise is why I have to downgrade the score from my previous review. Consistently the pasta has been so overcooked and mushy they have a gross starchy feeling to them. The noodles are also broken up into pieces instead of being long strands of noodles. Our last 4 visits in the last 2 months have had this issue or some other issue with the food, and it's a real shame because previously the pasta was better. I'm not saying it was the best pasta in the world, but it didn't have this mucky texture before. I'm not the only one that's noticed this. My friends and family who also love the restaurant previously have brought up the quality changes in the way they cook their pasta. The sauces are always good and the bread is always on point. Due to the pasta issue we have come here less but we hope they fix the issue because we have brought it up, but it seems to still be an issue. read more

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Doesn't look like much from outside, but it's very nice inside. I had a cozy feeling when I sat down. Our waitress was very nice and gave us the scoop on what to order. We were there for lunch and the prices were great. I got the calzone and got jalapeños instead of olives. It was only 12$ and I took over half of it home and ate dinner tonight and still had some left over. They put ricotta in it and when I say it took it to another level I mean it. My mom ordered the chicken Parmesan. It was a huge portion of chicken and spaghetti. She also got a delicious salad and got the house dressing that had feta cheese in it. I love the Spaghetti The Works and I got it gluten free. I had the gluten free pizza. It's a little too much cheese and too bland for me. The Carbonara was disappointing. They used an alfredo, not an egg yolk sauce. It tasted bland. I had to add salt and pepper. Even though I am gluten free, I will eat some of their garlic bread because it is that good. My family loves Adriatic cafe and has been going there for years. When we arrived on a Friday evening, there was a 20 minute wait. I always feel like 20-30 minutes is good-it means people like to go there and will wait , but it's not so long that you think about going somewhere else. Anyway, our table was ready in 20 minutes as promised. The rolls they bring to the table are the best. I think my son just goes for the rolls! I had eggplant parmigiana, which was excellent. Adriatic gives a generous portion, covered with cheese and a "side" of spaghetti. I say "side" because I brought most of home to eat for lunch today. And tomorrow. The portion was that huge. I found Adriatucs looking at other Italian restaurant reviews, and one of the reviews mentioned this was a better place than the one I planned to visit. And that reviewer was on point. The service is commendable. It starts when the host greets us and, shortly after, seats us, and the waitress immediately attends to us. As we wait, the place is bustling. We placed our appetizer and main course. Son and I started with the calamari--it was served lightly bread and adequately cooked. It wasn't tough. The Mrs. had Greek salad, and for a side, it was a good serving. Minutes later, our main dishes came out. I had the chicken marsala - berry delicious and plenty, but I can only complain that the pasta was slightly overcooked. I like my pasta aldenti. My wife and son had the Adriatics special that can with chicken, sausage, roasted peppers, ham and olives- they both have a high five. I was visiting my parents and they live fairly close to this location. We ordered a Margherita pizza and extra marinara on the side. The delicious bread came first. Then came the pizza. The waiter had forgotten the extra marinara sauce which is $3. The Margherita pizza should be thinner, crispier and with less cheese. My parents and I didn't like it much.
