We've always liked this restaurant, which is probably why tonight's experience was so disappointing. Service was a little slow, but they clearly got hit with a rush around 7. Being busy wasn't really the issue. How everything was handled was. My wife ordered a Caesar salad that we've had here before and enjoyed, but tonight it just wasn't good. We let our server know and asked if we could replace it with a small/kids-sized Alfredo instead. She wasn't particularly apologetic, but said she would take care of it. I actually had to hand her the salad to get it cleared from the table. By the time a manager came over, everyone else, including the kids, had completely finished eating. She apologized for the delay and explained that a large delivery order had come in, but then mentioned that we had "changed our order" afterward, but it would be out soon. Maybe she didn't mean it that way, but it landed like the delay was partly on us for sending back. We've both worked in restaurants, so we understand getting slammed. We understand large orders. We understand mistakes. What matters is communication and how you recover when something goes wrong. When our server brought the check, she told us she had "done what she could," which apparently meant removing the salad from the bill. Fair enough. Except after I signed, I realized we had also been charged for four glasses of wine when we only had three. At that point, we were done and just wanted to leave. None of these things individually would have prompted a bad review. It was the accumulation of them, along with the lack of ownership and the strange feeling that we were somehow inconveniencing the restaurant by pointing out a problem. This place is usually really good, and I genuinely hope this was just an off night. Came back after a while and it was just as good. House salad was very refreshing to eat and tried The Adriatic Special pasta. Honestly it was more meat, sauce and other ingredients as opposed to spaghetti, but it tasted really good with a little bit of a spicy kick so no complaints there. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Doesn't look like much from outside, but it's very nice inside. I had a cozy feeling when I sat down. Our waitress was very nice and gave us the scoop on what to order. We were there for lunch and the prices were great. I got the calzone and got jalapeños instead of olives. It was only 12$ and I took over half of it home and ate dinner tonight and still had some left over. They put ricotta in it and when I say it took it to another level I mean it. My mom ordered the chicken Parmesan. It was a huge portion of chicken and spaghetti. She also got a delicious salad and got the house dressing that had feta cheese in it. The service is commendable. It starts when the host greets us and, shortly after, seats us, and the waitress immediately attends to us. As we wait, the place is bustling. We placed our appetizer and main course. Son and I started with the calamari--it was served lightly bread and adequately cooked. It wasn't tough. The Mrs. had Greek salad, and for a side, it was a good serving. Minutes later, our main dishes came out. I had the chicken marsala - berry delicious and plenty, but I can only complain that the pasta was slightly overcooked. I like my pasta aldenti. My wife and son had the Adriatics special that can with chicken, sausage, roasted peppers, ham and olives- they both have a high five. I was visiting my parents and they live fairly close to this location. We ordered a Margherita pizza and extra marinara on the side. The delicious bread came first. Then came the pizza. The waiter had forgotten the extra marinara sauce which is $3. The Margherita pizza should be thinner, crispier and with less cheese. My parents and I didn't like it much. My family loves Adriatic cafe and has been going there for years. When we arrived on a Friday evening, there was a 20 minute wait. I always feel like 20-30 minutes is good-it means people like to go there and will wait , but it's not so long that you think about going somewhere else. Anyway, our table was ready in 20 minutes as promised. The rolls they bring to the table are the best. I think my son just goes for the rolls! I had eggplant parmigiana, which was excellent. Our servers name is pronounced ChenDressa... (don't wanna try to spell it... please forgive me!)... she was super sweet, attentive and could tell we wanted to relax and chat on our date. The restaurant was busy, being Friday night. The atmosphere was festive as there were lots of people celebrating. It was clean and well lit enough to read the menu. We chose a bottle of Ruffini Moscato to go with dinner (the pic didn't turn out), started with warm garlic knots, fresh from the oven, adding a side of Alfredo sauce for dipping, which you could tell was homemade. As our appetizer we chose the Bruschetta, added the melted mozzarella, super fresh. Tomatoes were ripe, firm, little red onion for sweetness and basil tossed in XVOO, topped with a sprinkle of grated parmigiana cheese. Even MrM liked it as the tomatoes were not mushy from sitting too long. We added a little fresh squeeze of lemon for just the right amount of tart to bring out the flavors. MrM had the Trio, cheese ravioli, lasagna and cheese manicotti ( I think). The lasagna had some meat as well as cheese, all covered with marinara and melted cheese. It was good, but he said it all tasted the same. The sauce was blander than he expected. Not being a huge tomato fan, it's the spices that can make the difference. I had the Chicken Carbonara. When served (and pictured) it looked like too much sauce but after getting into it, it was about right, as they didn't toss the pasta in sauce before serving. Could really taste the bacon and mushrooms. Way too much for me in one setting, so I took the rest home. We finished with fresh cappuccino and a slice of lemon cello cake. Moist and flavorful, not too sweet, could even taste the lemon zest. Overall, great date night for good Italian food on a budget. Be sure to check your location for pricing and availability as they vary. We checked to see what the corking fee was, wanting to bring our own bottle of wine but found out they do not allow it. read more
