The students at Hobart frequent this place as well. It's a classic "college coffeehouse" It's a cool spot. I may not know what their coffee is like, but like most coffeehouses, this one also has hot chocolate! So! Being the 5 year old that I am, haha, I always get their hot chocolate...pic is attached :) Their hot chocolate is amazing. I don't care how old I get, I'll always have hot chocolate over coffee and especially in January! That said, last time I went in here was last January. Well, I stopped in back in July and was gonna meet a friend there. She is from Lyons. Doesn't know Geneva very well and had trouble finding it. So we went elsewhere. That friend...this was the first time meeting her. (This is where the sentimental value comes in) Her sister, Jeanette was my close friend and was my art teacher when I was in elementary and junior high. I met up with her last January. January 7th to be exact. I came back to Idaho and two days later she suffered a massive heart attack and passed away. I'm just so glad we had our last outing together and we went to Monaco's bc she absolutely loved Monaco's. It was always her first choice and if you have been, I'm sure you understand why. Jeanette and I would meet up a few times while I was home. Monaco's was our last get together almost every time I was home. I'd always see her the day I was flying back here to Idaho. So even tho going in there now...will be bittersweet. Sorry for the sob story. Just this place is special even if you're not a coffee drinker haha. She always made fun of me for my hot chocolate haha. We always sat in the center on the couches. This place is very comfortable. Plenty of seating. Huge windows in the front that are extra special to look Out during Winter and Fall. There's a HUGE tree across the street that is mine and Jeanette's favorite during Fall bc the colors are INSANE! I'll add a pic. The staff is super friendly. All of them so helpful and waste no time helping you. It's a tad pricey, but most of these coffee shops are...even my hot chocolate is pricey haha! Will I go back? Yeah and it'll be with Jeanette's sister. She has yet to try their coffee and wants to because her sister enjoyed this place so much. But that's fine. My breakfast sandwich was delicious. It was fried egg, bacon, and a Chipotle mayo that was just the right amount of kick to add complexity and interest to each bite. My honey lavender latte, however, was not it. I always get oat milk and this one tasted as if it had dairy milk in it. Also, it had a VERY strange and strong taste of rosemary... which was not mentioned nor was it tasty. It was hard to drink. My partner's chai latte was "too milky", his words. This was especially disappointing because fresh eggs are everywhere in this region. If not for the egg issue, this sandwich would have been perfect. Not too heavy, incredibly savory, and hit the spot without going overboard. My coffee was just OK. Nothing crazy, a little too much of synthetic sweetness in the syrup. And they asked if I wanted it in a mug or to-go cup: I said mug, as you can see this is not what they provided me. A little disappointed by that as well. Would definitely not recommend this cafe to anyone unless they're absolutely starving. Eat before/after you visit here. Turkey BLT wrap 5/10 Mayo comes on the side so it doesn't get soggy. Smart. Wrap was very skimpy. There was maybe 1 or 2 slices of lunch meat turkey in it, and a slice of bacon. See photo. Not worth the price at all. Pasta salad 4/10 SUPER DRY. Was like eating plain wet noodles. Probably because it sat overnight. Needs more dressing for sure. The combination of ingredients were good together though. See photo. Iced latte with caramel 5/10 Couldn't even taste the caramel. Plenty of milk, but it was just poured in.. Not even frothed like a latte usually is.
